Inman Park Bakery Hell Yeah Gluten Free Is Opening in Decatur and Adair Park in Atlanta - Eater Atlanta

"Alejandra Luaces is expanding her popular gluten-free bakery business Hell Yeah Gluten Free (HYGF) to Decatur and Adair Park in 2023. New locations of the Inman Park bakery, which opened in 2019 near LLoyd’s along DeKalb Avenue, should open in February 2023 beside Inner Voice Brewing in Decatur, with HYGF on Murphy Avenue opening later next year. The Murphy Avenue location is just down the street from the Window and La Bodega at the Met, and less than a block from coffee shop Finca to Filter inside co-working space Create ATL. Luaces says the Inman Park shop will remain open but operate a little differently once the Adair Park location opens on Murphy Avenue. She plans to move most of the bakery’s production to Adair Park in the future. This location should become the commissary kitchen for the Decatur and Inman Park shops, where Luaces hopes to eventually offer baking classes. "There’s a lot of options, we just need to see what makes the most sense for the future," Luaces tells Eater. While Adair Park will function mostly as a production and nationwide shipping facility, Luaces says it will include a small retail shop. The Decatur location takes over a former Christian Science Reading Room and will operate similarly to the shop in Inman Park." - Beth McKibben

Google
This bakery is absolutely adorable and offers a fantastic selection of gluten free baked goods, along with several vegan options! I had the blueberry danish and the chocolate donut and couldn’t believe how good they were, I will absolutely be back! Even if you are not gluten free you will love their stuff. Please note: this location is slightly hidden from view on the main street. From the 4-way stop, go up past Cafe Lily and you will find them directly next to Glide Pizza/Inner Voice.

The last few months I’ve stopped in or went to order online the donut selection is so slim now. They use to have some amazing options like the strawberry shortcake, carrot cake, there was a pistachio pastry. Now it’s just funfetti or chocolate. It’s nice to have this Decatur location it’s super convenient but please bring back the full menu. I definitely agree with other reviews in the customer service experience with staff they are not always approachable. Honestly just praying someone else opens up a gluten free pastry shop in the area it seems like they don’t have plans to keep this location going much longer .

I used to love Hell Yeah, like would fight anyone who said anything bad about them love, so I'm really sad to write this review. It seems like everything has gone downhill since opening the Decatur location, which could have been so successful with the right strategy. The quality of some items, like the mysterious soapy taste in the frosting of the pop tarts, the menu variety, and the hours are all lacking, and it was seems like they gave up on Decatur just a few months after opening. If you want anything besides basic menu items (donuts and biscuits mostly), you have to go to the other location, so there's hardly any point in going here as a Decatur local. They've had some interesting pop ups but the most recent non-gluten free one obviously didn't make Celiac customers feel safe or valued. I also feel bad for that pop-up's owner who, instead of dipping their toe in a brick and mortar operation, were probably greeted instead by unhappy and concerned customers who couldn't eat their food. Just thoughtless and sad on so many levels. I hope things turn around and that the business practices improve so we can all enjoy Hell Yeah as it once was-- a safe, reliable, and fun place for the gluten free community. Until then, I'll be working on my home baking skills.

Google
Please please be wary of this location. Today (12/13) they brought in a gluten bakery for their pop-up, the only warning being a measly instagram story (which I only knew about because someone posted in the GF Atlanta group as I don’t have instagram). Per reports so far, there was no warning to customers in shop that the pop-up was all gluten goods. This decision is incredibly questionable as HYGF has /always/ been a fully GF kitchen and by far the only bakery I /knew/ wasn’t going to hurt me due to possible cross-contamination. The introduction of gluten (no, using different utensils and equipment to prepare gluten items in a GF kitchen does NOT fix the issue) has made me completely lose trust in HYGF as a whole. I will no longer be a customer and will warn my fellow celiacs off HYGF.

Google
If you’re gluten free or vegan you know how hard it is to find somewhere that has GF and vegan friendly foods that taste great too. Hell Yeah Gluten Free is going to be your new favorite place. I drive WAY out of my way to come here to get treats and biscuits. It is very much so worth the drive! I recommend getting there early so you can get a great selection!

Google
I was planning on stopping by this location today because I had heard so many good things (mainly from Celiacs Disease forums online) and I wanted to get a treat for myself. The bakery held a pop up with a regular gluten containing bakery and prepared those baked goods in the dedicated gluten free space. This is extremely irresponsible as it's impossible to realistically prevent any cross contamination of equipment and surfaces in a shared space. This introduction of gluten into a gluten free space tells me that the new owner is no longer interested in keeping the space safe for its customers, many of whom have celiacs disease. Disappointing waste of time and parking. Don't come here unless you want to be glutened.

Google
Gluten free double chocolate doughnut was divine! It is just a good doughnut: gluten free or otherwise. (Partner let me have “a small bite” before she devoured the rest ). Bacon egg and cheese biscuit for me was great too.

Google
Cute… but donuts and biscuits were dry as hell. Not worth the $ or early rise required to get the fresh stuff. But I understand the appeal for people with gluten sensitivities/allergies. I would absolutely not come here if not for my gluten-free friends.

Yelp
4/5 I am new to the GF world and found this cute little bakery to try. They have day old treats that they sale for 20% off. Since it was my first time I took advantage, and honestly it was still very moist and fresh tasting. The flavor was nice, very buttery but the icing was kind of sweet for me. I would love to come back and try a different idea. Maybe one of the pizza pockets they have available.

Yelp
Not the kindest service. Spent over $70 here. Didn't leave here feeling like my business was appreciated. Won't ever be back. I've been to the other location before and had a great experience. Treats are just ok and Ill be going elsewhere from now on where the service is kinder and appreciated.

Yelp
I've only had Hell Yeah one time and from the other location in Inman Park. That was a while ago, but from what I understand, they are still really prone to selling out and it's best to order ahead online. I had planned to meet a friend who's gluten-free for breakfast on a Saturday morning at 9 am, and I thought we should probably order ahead when they open at 8. Their online ordering didn't open until maybe closer to 8:30 (it said it would open when they opened at 8), so that was a little frustrating to have to keep refreshing the page. But it did end up opening and we were able to place our orders. When we got there at 9:15, there was not a line and it seemed like they had plenty of inventory, but not sure if it was just a weird day? I had cookies and cream doughnut, and and oatmeal cream pie, and both were heavenly! My friend had a bacon egg and cheese biscuit and said that it was amazing. You order inside, and they have two tiny tables out front, but there's no other seating besides that. So it's more of a take away type place!

Yelp
HYGF, you have wayyyyy surpassed my expectations!!! Still daydreaming about Saturday's breakfast. HYGF has been on my radar for some time now - I follow their account on IG and they do a superb marketing job, so I knew it was only a matter of time. I've been craving a breakfast sandwich now more than ever and my boyfriend and I placed an order online for pickup at their Decatur location. We ordered 2 sausage, egg and cheese biscuits, a funfetti donut and a cheddar chive biscuit. Ok WAOW, the food was excellent. We ate the sausage biscuits in complete silence in the parking lot. That's how good they were. I still can't believe the texture of every item - this is the first biscuit I've eaten since gf that tasted like a regular biscuit, if not better. The donut was light, airy and fluffy. I am contemplating making the drive right now as I type this review. Inside was colorful, fun, vibrant and overall a vibe! In addition to delicious baked goods, they sell apparel, stickers, and tons more fun decorative items. I learned this location has been here since January 2024. This place is a gem, especially for us sensitive tummy folks. I will be back again, and again, and again. Thank you HYGF for answering our prayers!

Yelp
I hesitate to write this because I selfishly don't want them selling out in the first 5 minutes of the day lol. This place is so f*cking good, I could eat here every day. Literally everything I've had is outstanding. Went again yesterday and tried the curry pocket, phenomenal! The egg & cheese biscuit, donuts, pop tart, you can't go wrong. Gluten free baked goods tend to be dry and dense, not at this place! I don't know how they've mastered this but I'm hooked. So thrilled for this Decatur location. And the staff is always so kind and helpful. Go there right now, just leave some for me!

Yelp
I have been baking GF for more than 10 years. I stay away from rice flour in my baking, but since I'm DF also, it can be really hard to find treats that someone else made. I did get a few things from Hell Yeah a few years ago and I wasn't impressed. However. Today I went and got everything dairy free/vegan that they had and... WOWWWWWWWWW! I am so thrilled to have this option and plan to be a regular now. Everything is a great size, which is a huge perk. Most GF stuff is miniature and 4x the price of gluten ones. Double chocolate donut: INCREDIBLE. The cake is moist and dark (I love black cocoa). The frosting is fudgy and thick - no skimping here. My only complaint is that texturally I do not love sprinkles, but like we're talking about a hair's breath from perfection. seriously. Blueberry tart/hand pie: rice flour tends to bake harder than wheat flour which gets more crispy. So these are a little on the hard side because of that, but also manage to be like a flaky pie crust too. The glaze is perfect, as is the blueberry filling. SO DELICIOUS. Perfection. (hit the wrong button accidentally) Vegan cinnamon roll: very delicious. I ate a bite of this and froze it for when I'm craving a cinny roll. The flavor is delicious. I feel like there's a little cardamom? Nice amount of cinnamon. Of course cream cheese frosting would be delicious (miss you), but they put a nice, thick dollop of the glaze on it and it will be incredible warmed up. It's on the heavy side, but I think that's to be expected. I'm looking forward to it later! The curry turnover: I miss samosa SO MUCH. This is the closest and most delicious pastry I have had GF. The filling is quite spicy, which I can't really tolerate, but I've been walking by and eating tiny slivers because it's just so damn good. It's the same pastry as the blueberry tart sans glaze of course. Excellent! Vegan biscuits: Sadly my least favorite thing I bought, but still quite good. I feel these need some salt to be tastier. They're kind of stodgy, but not in a terrible way to be GF AND DF. I'd love to see them play around with some scones (no oats please!) with this recipe. I also look forward to trying the vegan sausage and cheese biscuit, but it wasn't available today. I would love to be able to order breakfast sandwiches (because I eat eggs) and would be equally happy for them to add just egg patties to the vegan biscuits (FYI just egg patties are available precooked and formed at restaurant wholesalers). All in all, I am SO HAPPY to have a place where I can get treats that someone else made when I want them! Thank you Hell Yeah!

Yelp
THIS PLACE IS AMAZING! Went for my birthday in January and was blown away by the amazing gluten free breakfast sandwiches, pop tarts, donuts, cinnamon rolls - you name it they have it! Love that they have a new space in Decatur - will try to get back there very soon!!!!
