Doggone’s New Orleans-Style Sausages Don’t Impress a Chicago Critic | Eater Chicago

"A tea and drink spot offering sweet-tropical beverages that help temper nearby spicy fare, with items like a lime passion fruit green tea described as a "tropical vacation in every sip." The drink menu pairs well with modest food options; the shop’s offerings are characterized as humble yet satisfying, frequently serving as a refreshing counterpoint to richer or spicier Chinatown dishes." - Jeffy Mai

This place is such a good environment I came here on a date with my boyfriend and it was great. The customer service is really great and the store overall is very comfy to be in I definitely recommend! We ordered two large fries with spicy mayo and an order of classic popcorn chicken, the regular chicken was still a bit spicy but overall delicious as well as the fries in total we paid close to 30 dollars plus two cokes and it was great we both got full off of this meal.

Google
Genuinely love this place!!! I got the sour plum lime drink, kumquat orange drink with aiyu jelly DELCIOUS ! So refreshing! I got the braised pork bento one of my fav things I ate on this trip to Chicago! The staff were incredibly nice!! What a wonderful experience —had to come back on my last day!

I like the atmosphere of Hello Jasmine. Very nice ambient restaurant inside. Hello Jasmine is amazing. I appreciate the staffs and managers kindness to me even though I have autism and their food is amazing and really good. Manager Lucas and marketing Ingrid and cook Chris is nice. I like the crunch in the garlic popcorn chicken and sweetness of the mango bubble tea. Must come back. 10/10.

Google
The team at Hello Jasmine is incredibly kind, accommodating, and professional! The thought they put into their drink/food specials is incredible and makes it worth visiting again and again for their innovative menu items, all whilst maintaining authenticity and high quality. The atmosphere is very warm and healing, like getting comfort food at a Taiwanese street food stall. Their menu includes drinks, food items, and desserts; all made fresh, all worth trying! They have a great selection of teas, milk based drinks, fruity drinks, and smoothies. Personal favorite drink is the Taro Coconut Delight :) Highly recommend!

Google
Got the popcorn chicken and it’s based. Actually authentic and identical to Taiwanese nightmarket’s popcorn chicken and might even be better (I would get this in Taiwan alone). Not too oily nor salty, perfect. - 台中人認證 :)

Google
When life throws its worst what do you do? You get back up and you get yourself some popcorn chicken at this place. It hits harder than anything life can throw at you. And while you're at it why not get a drink? You'll be sippin on bliss i swear to god like dayum that mango fruit tea helped me see the lord and he said "heyo did you get the braised pork too?" And You'll be like "bet, just send me back" and when he does you get that pork bento and appreciate it like it saved your mom from a crypto scam. Banger food i recommend.

Google

Yelp
Hello Jasmine is one of those places that has both food AND boba. They offered some options for Taiwanese street food, as well as some actual rice dishes. Love a place with variety that can do it all! There's a bunch of seating and a bathroom which we happily used one by one after grabbing the ginormous key they offer at the counter for customers. Drink wise, I was a big fan of my Pinky Guava Grapefruit. It was such a summery drink, and the guava and grapefruit paired so well together, and it was, in fact, pink. There was a sourness to it that made the drink seem fresher, but it also wasn't too sour. Plus the fruit pieces added texture, and those fruit pieces were there across the board for all of the drinks my family had. Not only did I love my Pinky Drinky- I also am obsessed with the garlic popcorn chicken we got. I opened her up and was like "oh I didn't know this chicken came with rice." I looked a little closer. What I thought was rice was GARLIC. This chicken was sitting in a literal pool of garlic. We got essence of garlic AND actual chopped garlic all over these chicken pieces. It was the best thing I've ever seen, and it tasted so good. Hello Jasmine does everything and does it WELL, and I just wish they had one in NYC!

Yelp
I have to say. It's been awhile since I had a cute theme like takeout. Off the bat their fishballs is top tier! I only say it cause in NYC we recently lost "Shung Kee Food" it was probably one of the best if you want to make your own at home. All the loose ones out there now a days just taste like imitation or just filled with flour and starch. These on the other hand had it packed with flavor and bounce! Definitely a recommend! The popcorn chicken was a plus! Again. Flavor was there. Crispy, bouncy, goes well with anything tbh. The Taiwan mini sausage skewers were good too. AS cute as the rice box was it felt almost close to food on a plane kind of quality. It wasn't bad but I see what they're trying to do. I'd probably stick to the apps more next time then with the mains. Only downside was they only gave you the option to have bubble tea only. Wish they had more options to choose with the similar or same price range. As for the Mango/Grass jelly. I was pleasantly surprise ! i usually like it with milk tea or coffee but i have to say this was an eye opener! Definitely recommend!

Yelp
Very solid place for Taiwanese food - their fried chicken has the delicious classic seasoning and love that they serve buckets as well! I will say if I had to compare Taiwanese places in the city I'd have to give the edge to Taipei cafe as hello jasmines portions are definitely smaller

Yelp
Stopped in around 4pm on a Saturday. This is in the stand alone plaza where Meet Fresh used to be so it's nice that's there's a parking lot, though it's not the biggest. Really loved the decor, vibe and service. Ease of the kiosk was quite nice as well. Always looking for good Taiwanese food and was excited from all the great reviews. It may be that my expectations were quite high or it could have been an off day but my expectations weren't quite met. Ordered the braised pork bento combo with milk tea and added side of popcorn chicken. The popcorn chicken was my favorite thing here. Given the kiddos were eating it as well, went with not spicy (salt/pepper). The breading was perfect as it had that nice crunch with little layer of chew to it. It was underseasoned for my tastes but the texture of the breading was perfect and the chicken was moist, and with fried basil what's not to love. The braised pork was a good amount of meat with good quantity of fat (not too much and not too little). The flavor of the pork was ok, didn't have tha rich, deep, sweet and soy flavor you crave with braised pork. The bok choy and tofu were both quite bland. The star of the bento box was the pickled cabbage as it had great acidity, sweetness and crunch. The milk tea was pretty standard. Was milky with prominent tea flavor. The boba was a little solid in the center, so it didn't have the qq (chew) when you think of soft boba. Given the great texture of the popcorn chicken, will try the pork chop next time.

Yelp
We utilized Hello Jasmine for some late night snacks at our wedding back in September. The catering form was easy to complete and communication was via email was also easy. We ordered 10 different flavors and I liked how the cups were smaller sizes. to be less wasteful. We also ordered the popcorn chicken and created our own mini cartons which our caterers put out for us. To note in catering, the latest delivery time is 8:30PM so that's something to note if doing late night food.

Yelp

Yelp
FLAVOR (4/5): Chicago doesn't have good boba and this is the best spot we found on our trip. The drinks are on the sweeter side but super refreshing. The grass jelly was pretty good quality too. We had their garlic popcorn chicken and it's not for the weak hearted! It has enough garlic to scare vampires away. The batter was nice and crispy. INSTAGRAM WORTHY (4/5): The logo and design of the place is pretty cute! The store itself isn't too big but had a lot of elements that made you feel like you want to sit and hangout for a bit. SERVICE (4/5): I appreciated that we selected a dine in option here and they actually brought us our food and drinks. TAKEAWAYS: The best boba we had in Chicago on our trip.
google avatar

Yelp
Parking: there's a parking plaza with lots of spacing and it's also near the train/bus station as well Staff: they're all super nice and help answer any questions you may have Inside: there's lot of seating for people to dine in or study at. There's a restroom (ask for the key, outlets, and free wifi. I will say that I went and the wifi wasn't THAT great so I wouldn't get serious work done here. Food/drink: I've gotten their spicy popcorn chicken that tasted mildly spicy and the assam black milk tea with boba. My top two items and they have so many other options to choose from. I'm excited to go back and try more

Yelp
Six stars! On a trip to Chicago, I was craving some Asian food so I went to Chinatown. This place showed up on my Yelp search so I decided to give them a try. They are a smallish store but it was super busy on a Friday afternoon. We ordered at the kiosk and got the braised pork rice bento and the drink/fried chicken combo. Food came out fast. It was so good!! One of the best Taiwanese food I have ever had in the states (and I'm from Los Angeles). The flavor was amazing and tasted so comforting. The fried chicken was crispy and tender. The green tea was the perfect sweetness. The bento box was amazingggg. I highly recommend them! I think one of the best meals I had in Chicago. Bathrooms were also clean.

Yelp
Always a fan of Taiwanese food! They sell both Taiwanese bento boxes and drinks. You order from a kiosk and the servers bring you your food in a tray. The restaurant itself is small with a few indoor and outdoor tables. I got the chicken steak rice bento, which came with a braised egg, Bok choy, fried tofu, pickled lettuce, and rice. While the portion was small and could've used more protein/chicken, it was delicious! The chicken steak isn't fried, but rather grilled.

Yelp
Drinks 5/5: ordered the grapefruit, green tea and the the guava grapefruit. Both were great! They had a deal for the grapefruit green tea, at buy one get one free, it was pretty good and they use fresh grapefruit! For the guava grapefruit, that was the best drink! It was very well flavored and not too sweet Service 5/5: Atmosphere 5/5: very trendy Boba spot with a lot of decorations! I love the set up the place. It gives any more intimate, trendy but authentic look to it.

Yelp
I was excited to try the chicken at Hello Jasmine as it was recommended as some of the best chicken in Chicago. It is definitely tasty, and I ordered it to go. The chicken eaten fresh may have tasted better and crunchier, but it was still very well seasoned and quite delicious overall. I also ordered the popcorn chicken, both the orange and original flavors. The orange was exceptionally good with a little kick to the sauce. Be sure to grab a few sauces with your order as each one was delicious. Overall, it was a pretty good experience. I'll definitely be back to try more of their menu!
google avatar

Hien L.

Yelp
Hello Jasmine's popcorn chicken is the best in Chicago. One of my favorite when I want a snack. Drinks are good too and I like the Oolong Milk Tea. The fruit tea could use more tea.
google avatar

Sandy T.

Yelp
Came here for dine in dinner. The restaurant wasnt super busy but it did take us over 40mins to get our food. The food was pretty good. The minced pork rice had good flavor but all the pieces were pure fat. Not much meat pieces. The pork chop was very moist. The orange popcorn chicken was our favorite. Good flavor and we have never see it before at Taiwanese restaurants. The bubble tea also took a while to receive. I had to ask about it after 20mins. Overall the meal was good but if we were in a rush this would not be the place for us to go.
google avatar

Krupa S.

Yelp
Definitely more of your standard Boba shop. A lot of their drinks are simpler than the fancier shops. However, when I'm craving simple yet delicious milk teas, the jasmine milk, tea, and the oolong milk tea options always hit the spot. Definitely worth checking out.
google avatar

Yelp
Hello jasmine has been my favorite for milk tea since they've opened!! I love every drink I've tried here and my favorite recently is the taro coconut delight- the perfect amount of taro flavor with the coconut sweetness. I usually adjust the sweetness level when I order milk tea but with this drink, I don't need to adjust anything and it's perfect. I also love the popcorn chicken which is salt and pepper chicken nuggets. Its flavor is so on point with a hint of basil. My coworkers who've tried this place also love their bento boxes and drinks. The only down side is how the size of their popcorn chicken has decreased yet we're being changed more. They claim it's inflation but the ration just doesn't make sense to me. This place is always busy to be prepared to wait for a little bit especially during peak hours but the service is still decent and Efficient. The restaurant itself has a small area where you can sit and chat with your friends for a quick hangout spot.
google avatar

Grace T.

Yelp
Their food was good, but the bubble tea could have been better. I was very excited that they had pig blood rice cakes, but I was a bit disappointed with the tough texture. They should have been a bit softer, while still being slightly bouncy/chewy. I'd highly recommend their popcorn chicken bento-- it's something I'd go back for!
google avatar

Erica H.

Yelp
The overall experience was very impressive! We ordered a chicken bento box, a popcorn chicken, and a mango smoothie with boba. The use of salt pepper made the food more authentic and made it become an addiction of wanting more. We got 50% sugar for the mango smoothie, and it was the perfect amount of sweetness! The boba was also really chewy and freshly cooked. I will return if I come back to Chicago again.

Yelp
This is a nice casual Taiwanese street food eatery and the values are quite good here. This was our first visit to this franchise. This location is part of a relatively newish (5 years old) Taiwanese oriented strip mall and they have their own convenient and medium sized parking lot on the south side of the strip mall. The wife and I dropped in for a Saturday lunch and we ordered their braised sliced pork rice bento combo for 1 for $21.98. It included a side (we picked grilled tofu) and a big bubble tea drink (we picked Assam boba milk tea). We also ordered an extra side of popcorn chicken for $8. The bento combo was nicely and attractively presented in a plastic bento box. Both dishes and the drink were great values for the quantity and quality received and it was all satisfying and delicious. Their drinks menu is also large and extensive. Water is also free now despite a sign saying 50 cents per cup which is no longer practiced. Their medium sized dining space is clean, cozy, and airy. Lilly was the friendly attendant on duty for us and she has been there from the very beginning. T'was a nice first visit and I wouldn't hesitate to return for a delicious, fresh, and convenient Taiwanese street food stop.

Yelp
Grilled Chicken is the new alternative to fried and drenched in sauce. The $13 for 8-10 wings and drums are my favorite at HJ. I like the smoky flavor and the side dipping sauce it comes with. If you buy this on Thursday, you get a free drink. If you meal is over $30, don't forget to click/ask for the free piece of fried chicken. Parking is limited as it is a shared lot with other vendors. It is a short walk from Chinatown Square. Highly recommend and never a disappoint.
google avatar

Yelp
Easy ample free parking lot. Service is professional, friendly and quick. Café is sparkling clean, organized and tables-a-plenty! Easy to read menu with colorful pictures promoting à la cart or combo dishes. Convenient large screen kiosks for easy descriptions and ordering off the really extensive menu of food and more smoothies than you can count! Cozy exclusive outdoor tables makes for lovely option on nice days. Excellent addition to outskirts of core Chinatown.

Yelp
decided to try hello jasmine out of all the boba spots in chinatown. they have a big menu with a variety of drinks -- the food looked good too. // jasmine milk tea with boba (less ice, less sugar) $5.75+tax // the drink was good and the boba was chewy and had a good consistency. the jasmine was a little on the lighter side and tasted kind of floral/fruity. the drink was more than enough sweet. it could benefit from having a stronger tea flavor + being creamier. my brother tried the matcha boba milk tea. it was good but also could have had a stronger matcha flavor.

Ivy Q.

Yelp
just got Milk Tea there today. I ask for 30% sugar but it was so sweet. This's my usual place to order milk tea but not anymore.
google avatar

Jimmy C.

Yelp
Participated in the Yelp Elite event and was treated to a free drink and popcorn chicken. I ordered the grapefruit yakult tea, which was delicious, and the spicy popcorn was a very generous portion size and very delicious. Thaank you Yelp for the opportunity to discover Hello Jasmine in Lincoln Square.

Yelp
Hard to find the original Taiwanese food next to the downtown Chicago. .Uber $8.00 plus tips take you from Downtown Chicago to Hello Jasmine . If you tired eating all The American or Italian foods in downtown area . You should come visit this restaurant when you travel to this beautiful city Chicago . The best thing about this restaurant is very very clean and great customer service , too! Also , the boba milk tea is huge and with bunch of Boba ! Hope you enjoy Taiwanese food in Windy City Chicago !
google avatar

Munsanje M.

Yelp
I've had a lot of fruit bobas in the city and this by far the best one! I get extra boba and fruit boba in my with the best texture that's not too chewy and not too hard. You order on a kiosk so there's not much interaction with the workers. It's a cute small spot with a few seats. I remember a few years ago I tried the popcorn chicken and really liked it but this time only had boba. My friend got a brown sugar boba and didn't like it as much as the peach but would definitely recommend the peach x100!
google avatar

Rachel T.

Yelp
Yummy lunch bowls and fun tea flavors. I also like that you can get plain teas without the sugar as well. I tried oolong no sugar with pudding, pink guava grape fruit tea, and fried green beans.

Yelp
Highly recommend Hello Jasmine to cater your wedding or next event!! We first heard about HJ from friends and came to visit with them. My husband and I ended up booking HJ to cater our boba bar. It was a big hit at our wedding reception. Many of our Asian friends and family members were over the moon when they discovered HJ supplied our boba bar. I really appreciated the ability to buy bubble tea in bulk, and they even come in large, ready-serve containers you can pour the bubble tea out of into your cup. They also provided boba straws, cups, spoons (for serving boba toppings) and smaller containers for our boba toppings. HJ was extremely easy to work with - we mainly communicated over email, and they were able to let us know which items were gluten free or vegan for our guests with dietary restrictions so they can choose which items or bubble teas they were comfortable consuming. Our wedding venue was within their delivery radius so we were able to get our order delivered right to us. Their catering menu also includes party trays of popcorn chicken and cold noodles that looked tasty. Definitely considering these options if we plan another large event again and need catering. HJ was one of our favorite vendors to work with. Aside from catering, we often stop by HJ when we're visiting Chinatown. Service is usually quick and friendly. You can order from a screen near the front door once you enter. There is seating available if you want to dine in. HJ's branding is on point. I love all the packaging and even the wall mural depicting iconic features of Taiwan, such as Taipei 101. The food is served similar to street food you might find in Taiwan - fried cuttlefish balls on a stick, sausage on a stick, plastic bento box packaging, and popcorn chicken in a bag with long wooden picks. My Taiwanese parents always think of home when they stop by HJ. The food is authentic and delicious. My favorite things to order here are the popcorn chicken, peach fruit tea, and braised pork rice bento. Love HJ. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
Quality/Quantity - Small cafe, fairly busy. We came here for the drinks because my daughter lost a bet and had to buy, LOL. We got the following: Strawberry Lychee Iced Tea, Roasted Oolong Boba Milk Tea, and Mango Fruit Tea. All was good, nothing special, just good. Food also available, see picture of menus. They come in cute small bento boxes, sorry no pictures. Food options: Bento boxes, street food, fusion, combos, etc. You can also control/request your spicy level when ordering. Catering is also available, see picture. Atmosphere - Small cafe, indoor and outdoor seating. Bar style seating is also available. Open 7 days a week from 11am to 8:30pm, 9pm, or 9:30pm; see picture. There is a sign warning of pick pocketers; common in many cities with tourists. Thanks for the friendly reminder. Service - Notes directs us to order via kiosk due to shortage of staff. So self service today. For obvious reasons, our drinks took a long time. Plus they had a huge catering job they were working on at the same time. Price - $21, pretty expensive. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 2016 with your 3 locations.

Yelp
really great bubble tea - I got the red bean one and asked for it to be less sweet, and I felt like it was perfect. I also loved their popcorn chicken, but it was extremely filling due to all the coating, and I noticed it didn't reheat well the next day. overall though, I really enjoyed this spot and the staff was super friendly and patient. Wait times were long but they were pretty understaffed since they're quite a small location. I'll definitely be stopping here again to get some quick meals at some point.

Yelp
Delicious TW bento box food and bubble tea drinks at reasonable prices. The food tasted pretty authentic and arrived quite quickly... Also love the cute decor!

Yelp
Really good bobas with the right amount of sweetness...great new find for our boba addict family. They even have food here will certainly come back. I had the mango boba with lychee jelly and my daughter had peach boba with lychee and peach jelly. It was less than $15 bucks for both. I will be back soon

Yelp
I love love love Hello Jasmine! In my last 4 visits to Chicago, Hello Jasmine has stood as my favorite boba and cheap Asian grub spot consecutively across those visits. Food & Drinks: - I am such a sucker for their classic milk teas. I have tried the black assam milk tea, jasmine green milk tea, oolong milk tea, and I have been so thoroughly impressed by how great the tea flavor is across all three of them. It is just the right amount of creaminess that you would want in a milk tea, you can taste the brew of the tea leaves, and I love getting my drinks at half ice and 75% sugar. Tapioca consistency is just right, now too chewy, not too soft, and it is just sweet enough to enhance your drinks. - My experimental drink was their Black Sesame Milk Tea and it also blew me away. I would only recommend this if you are more of a savory type of person. This drink is on the thicker side with a lot of texture from the mix of sesame paste but overall - it is surprisingly a great dessert drink. - My bf got the Ube Milk Tea and he said it was the best that he has ever had. The ube flavor is so strong and for a lack of better words, it tasted like "real ube," which he loved. - We also got their Braised Pork over Rice bento box with fried tofu as an app. SUCH AN INSANE VALUE!! Super great portions, a great marinade on the pork belly, it crumbles and melts in your mouth. My only feedback would be that the pieces do contain a lot of fat but it adds to the overall flavor. Everything was very yum! Service: - I love that there is an option to order at the kiosk or order directly with them. If you need time to think, the kiosk offers a bit of a buffer time for you to look through the menu. - The staff is super nice and the wait isn't bad at all even on busy days. Ambiance: - I love how the theme of the restaurant is carried throughout the interior whether it is in wallpaper, packaging, or the general decor/vibe of the place. It offers a great spot to grab a quick grub with friends.

Yelp
The inside of this store was very cool. The walls are decorated with all sorts of art, and there's a little booth/bar that you can sit at as well. Ordering is very simple; you can order via kiosk or in person. The bento boxes were filled well. I think the highlight of my meal was the popcorn chicken. Fried very well and had an authentic Taiwanese taste. The braised pork over rice was just enough flavor to not overpower everything, and the oolong milk tea was a nice touch to finish everything off. Awesome place and highly recommend it.

Yelp
Wow, wow, wow! This taiwanese restaurant at the edge of Chinatown is the best taiwanese places I've had before outside of Taiwan!! The lunch bentos are amazing and the braised pork over rice is super authentic. It has a nice five spice flavor and the bokchoi + pickled cabbage are amazing. The pork is so tender. The egg has a perfect tea egg flavor. The tofu has a great texture too. After tax, it's about $14 which is a good deal for the food you get. Interior is efficient and clean. They have digital menus to order in addition to an in person cashier.

Yelp
We were sooo excited to try this spot - lots of authentic looking items on the menu and cute paper packaging which is also authentic to Taiwan. Unfortunately we were quite disappointed with our food...it wasn't terrible but it looked a lot better than it tasted. First, we had the popcorn chicken bento combo - the rice was so mushy and the popcorn chicken was moist...it should be crispy on the outside! We ate it immediately inside the restaurant, so if it was originally crispy then they must have let it sit covered for awhile before giving it to us. Flavor wise it was decent, just the wrong texture. Next, we had the grilled tofu with Taiwanese kimchi - I imagine this is the alternate to stinky tofu which they don't offer. Kimchi was on point but the tofu was also very moist on the outside and again, it should be dry and crispy in the outside... The cold noodles are vegetarian btw and the sauce is authentic and tasted good. Wished noodles were a bit thicker but that's just a personal preference. Decent amount of seating inside and options to order at the cashier or on tablets. Food took a bit to come out but it was a Saturday lunch.
google avatar

Noelani M.

Yelp
I like that they have combos where you can get a yummy meal with boba for a reasonable price. The portions of the food were generous and yummy and the boba was good too. I wish the standard boba size was a bit bigger and that the popcorn chicken meal came with a sauce because it was a bit dry to eat it with the rice. Nonetheless, the popcorn chicken was yummy.

Ruby P.

Yelp
This is an authentic Taiwanese restaurant in Chinatown, conveniently close to the Chinatown public library and the Red Line subway station. They have a small space so it can get packed quickly. My boyfriend and I did the combo for 2 people. We got bento boxes, 2 drinks and 2 sides. Everything tasted good for me and reminded me of my hometown Taiwan! My boyfriend liked everything except for the pig blood rice cake (one of the sides) which he tried for the first time. He did like the other side, fish balls that he ordered. I think both chicken entries could be more flavorful. I had popcorn chicken at another Taiwanese restaurant called Taipei Cafe and I like their popcorn chicken better. Theirs was more flavorful, and closer to authentic Taiwanese street food popcorn chicken. I'd come to this nice place again, however I wouldn't want to do the combo again. The fruit cloud drinks that were included in our combo were ok. I don't feel like getting those again. Their other drinks looked more interesting so I'd like to try some of those next time. Also want to try other meal options. When we were there, the cashier seemed to be on their first day of training and wasn't ready to take orders. I had to repeat our entire order (a total of 6 items) to the other employee who came to help. Next time I'd only order 1 item at a time until I'm prompted to order the next item, so I won't have to repeat everything again.

Yelp
Very unsanitary. And they took 30 minutes to make me two smoothies from a walk in on a calm night. After my drinks where made incorrectly, they tried to use their bare fingers to pry the plastic and "fix" my drink rather than make it with the correct ingredients. Nobody wears gloves and it's an all teen staff.

Yelp
Our vacation group stopped by Hello Jasmine for drinks and some food on the recommendation of a few friends and devoured everything we ordered. For apps we got the golden cheese popcorn chicken, which was a huge portion, very well-seasoned, and came doused in cheese sauce, and the grilled Taiwanese sausage, which had a nice outside char and savory-sweet. We also split two dinner bentos, the special chicken steak rice bento and the special braised pork rice bento. The chicken steak was pretty good, though it could've been a little more moist, but the braised pork was the real winner, super fatty and flavorful. I also really enjoyed the cabbage and pickled vegetables that came with the bentos, as well as the fried tofu. Haven't had this kind of food presented in this style since I was living in Shanghai, so the nostalgia factor was huge as well. I didn't have much of the drinks but I was told they were tasty too. The interior was clean and cute and food came out hot and fresh. Definitely recommend for people looking for a quick bite to eat in the area.

Yelp
If you're craving a great place to study and drink boba, this is the spot. The ambiance and seating is great to hang with friends. However, idk what the hype is behind the cheese caramel milk tea. It's average for the flavor. Ordered it with 80% sugar and didn't feel too excited over it. I'd come back to try the other stuff on the menu like the brown sugar that looked pretty good. Definitely would try the popcorn chicken when I come again since I love that shtuffff. Staff are friendly and the wait for boba wasn't too long. I would've gave a 5 stars if I was blown away by the boba, but everything about the place is poppin with an attractive store design. Also, free parking outside! We love that!

Yelp
I only got boba but I do want to come back to try some of their food! I love the decor and ambiance inside! They have kiosks on the side of you want to order by yourself but there's also a friendly staff person right when you walk in to take your order. I ordered a brown sugar boba latte. And holy moly am I in a sugar crash right now. It was sooooo good though.

Yelp
The food and drinks are always good here. I recommend the spicy popcorn chicken; however, the spicy powder can be overwhelming at times so I usually ask for it on the side. As someone who prefers less sweet drinks, a majority of the time I request for 30% sugar. :)

Yelp
The very first time I heard about this place I was so excited because I have been missing Taiwan Streetfood. of course, the very first thing I tried was the chicken popcorn and corn,to fu was next on the list. I would come back over and over again no matter how far just for their chicken popcorn. This is my second time here and now I tried their bento.I ordered their sliced pork one. Just to bad the lady misheard me abt dine in d take out and packed everything, would've been nice to take a pictare of their food presentation. Anyway, The food was great. Bento orders comes with veggies, an egg and a little bit of street food. I got a piece of sausage and 2pcs of tofu. of course, also ordered popcorn chicken to go. So if ever you are in the area, this place is a must try!!! HAPPY EATING!

Yelp
Really cool atmosphere. Despite them being really busy my order came out quick. Everything was so tasty and the presentation is immaculate! All for about 16-17 dollars after tax, totally worth it! Only be careful about coming close to close! They close the kitchen before the stated closing time (I think 8 or 8:30) so if you want anything other than milk tea after that you're SOL. They turned a guy away on my way out because it was too late.

Yelp
After reading other reviews on this location, I was worried about how busy it was going to be. I visited at like 11:15AM (15 min after opening) in hopes it wouldn't be busy, but I was wrong. There was already 3-4 people waiting on orders with more customers walking in shortly after me. They have 2 kiosks you can order from for contact-less and faster ordering which is what I did. After ordering, I think I still waited about 15-20 min for my order. Roasted oolong milk tea: Oolong milk tea is always my go-to. Ordering 'roasted' def gives it a more nutty taste. I was a little underwhelmed by the flavor. Like it wasn't as vibrant as I was hoping? Maybe it wasn't as sweet as I wanted even though I ordered regular sweetness. Still good though. The boba's consistency was good to my standard. All toppings are extra. Popcorn chicken: Tried their infamous Taiwanese popcorn chicken w/ a side of sesame sauce. Sauce is an extra $1-$2 based on which sauce you pick. The sesame sauce is made with peanuts so it tasted very much like a nutty sauce. You get a big bowl of chicken for ~$8. Chicken is in bite sized pieces. Comes with sticks to pick and eat the chicken with. It was topped with what I think is roasted basil. I ate the whole thing to myself and it made me pretty full. Cons: I would say service and the cost were my only minor issues. I was in no rush when I visited so waiting didn't bother me, but I could understand if I was busy and having to wait long. I paid ~$20 for both the popcorn chicken and my boba which I think is alot.

Yelp
This isn't our number one bubble tea place but there are several items that we enjoy: 1) Popcorn chicken 2) Fried chicken steak 3) Taiwanese cold noodle 4) Fried chicken Without a doubt, the chicken and fried food appeal to us. The great thing is that they allow you to choose the spice level: non spicy, less spicy, spicy, and extra spicy. Some menus don't necessarily indicate the spice level and it can become a guessing game. Being given the choice upfront is convenient and considerate. They share a parking lot with the other restaurants on the block. It's an oddly shaped parking lot with limited space and can get full pretty quickly. I usually opt for pickup so I would just double park right in front of the restaurant.

Yelp
This is a good spot in Chicago's chinatown for Taiwanese fare. However, the menu is quite limited in my opinion. I like the braised pork over rice bento and the popcorn chicken appetizer. The portions are good. The bento comes with steamed veggies, a marinated hard-boiled egg, and pickled veggies as sides. A complaint is that some of the pork cuts are super fatty. I can handle my spice, but I suggest getting no spice on your food. I think it tastes better because the spice they add isn't a very flavorful spice. It just adds heat, but not much depth. The ambiance is fine. There's a cool wall mural inside. Wait times can get really long when it's busy, though. I suggest avoiding the weekends if you want to avoid a crowd.

Yelp
At most bubble tea shop, you can only find taro milk tea(made with powder) or taro milk (does not contain tea). It's not easy to find one that sells jasmine milk tea with real taro paste. It's the perfect combination! I happen to chance upon Hello jasmine, a cafe style shop that sells food, snacks and bubble tea. Obviously, I had to try their taro milk tea (smooth taro paste with jasmine green milk tea). They are generous with the taro paste as I think about half the cup is filled with taro. There's no taro bits in it and it's a little too sweet, making the taro taste a little fake, not much taro taste. (I had better taro before). However, I love their jasmine green milk tea. They brewed it nicely as the jasmine taste is not overpowering and sweet, which will make you feel like you are tasting air freshener. I would not recommend you to mix/shake the drink as the taro taste will cover the taste of jasmine. This is a cute small shop located near Chinatown that is worth checking out. The parking can be difficult since there's limited spot but it's walkable distance from the Chinatown parking lot. They sell a huge varieties of Taiwan snacks, food and bubble tea! I'm sure you can find something you like there~
