Three Square Food Bank offers resources to feed the hungry during the pandemic | Eater Vegas

"A nonprofit holiday assistance program that uses donated funds to buy frozen turkeys and non-perishable items—such as canned vegetables, instant mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, and stuffing mix—to assemble complete Thanksgiving meals; the program provides more than 800 Las Vegas families with a full holiday meal, with donations accepted through November 23." - Susan Stapleton

They are so helpful and a true blessing. I was homeless and on the street when the volunteers came out to the field I was staying in and they helped me into a program for housing. I don’t know how I would’ve gotten through college without them. It was getting harder keeping up with school while also dealing with surviving everyday bs on the streets. THANK YOU HELP OF SOUTHERN NEVADA, and special thanks to Chris the man that helped make this happen!

An amazing organization that truly helps people get back on their feet! Catholic Charities provided me with meals, clothing, and assistance with job placement. The volunteers were patient, understanding, and never judgmental. Their programs truly change lives

I’ve been going to the diaper bank for almost a year. Things started out OK. however, the last four times I’ve gone the lady who does the diaper bank is very rude, loud, boisterous and speak down to ppl in a belittling manner coming there for help. I went there today. And she told me that I had an appointment last week. I told her that I had court last Monday, and she just kept badgering me about why I didn’t show up last week. I brushed it off, but then she kept speaking to me in a very rude disrespectful manner making jokes And speaking down on me as if she was trying to trigger me. however ,I’m from the South. We’re big on respecting our elders. so I wouldn’t dare disrespect someone who’s possibly my mother or grandmother’s age. But the respect needs to be mutual. I just held my composure and kept it moving. I don’t think I will be returning. I don’t wanna deal with that type of scrutiny. I will not be disrespected or talk down to in front of my Kids or made a joke of. I have to be a good role model for them and I don’t want to be triggered. I don’t understand how they will have someone so rude doing something in a position to help others. Last month, she was also very rude to another person For no apparent reason and when the lady left, she called and asked to speak to a supervisor. I guess she was upset because the lady came too close to her lunch break. But that’s no excuse to be rude to a person coming there with children looking for help. I just can’t. Ughh

I had fallen asleep while awaiting my turn to speak to someone. I was woke up by an aggressive hand lifting me from my seat, physically turning me towards the exit. I began to cry not knowing why and my purse was being dug into by another party. Luckily the woman behind the desk intervened stating I was not the subject intended and that they had left just prior to my arrival and she failed to notify. I was given my property and was told time had ran out anyway and I needed to come back. I had been the only person sitting for 35min prior to being finished for the day. Another woman felt bad and decided to take the time to give me some resources and advise what what to do and bring so my return would be smooth. I NEVER RETURNED. Invasion of my personal belongings, the bruise on my arm, and the weft of pulled out hair that got caught by the grab affected me deeply. Should have reported this but anything else to added to a full plate just makes it that much harder to hold or it breaks.

Front desk at the Weekly, I see struggle all the time. Two housing workers came in the Black dude helped the mom, the girl in a pink shirt and pink Converse with long black hair was with the grandma. She looked like a Barbie but brown with a heart of gold. She held that baby near 20 minutes, remembered his name, flipped through the papers, and changed the whole vibe. She deserve her flowers.

The weatherization program was a godsend to me! I was so fortunate to have heard about this, everyone that helped me from the beginning to the end were so incredibly nice and helpful not to mention making my house up to par with so much that needed to be fixed. Thanks for everything!! Highly recommend

The lady who does the diaper bank is really something else. Why take that role if you don’t have compassion in your heart for ppl? People are coming there for HELP. Not to be spoken to like a child or looked down on. She think she’s bigger than the program. The way she speaks to ppl is disgusting. Ughh, can’t stand her. She makes ppl not want to return. Her energy is low. Very negative spirit.

Yelp
They had our van stolen by their own mechanic and then left us to pay our own way after we confronted them. They are a scam full unqualified case managers or people just like you and I. Amy is the manager but won't reply to any calls or msgs. They lied to our landlord and then to us to cover it up. This place takes money from honest people and does whatever they want with it. Not what best for the client Use catholic charites over them please.

Yelp
Good works bring love and light. Be the difference in someone else's happiness. #Love to Luck! It's never the size that ever matters, it's that you tried to make a difference. Our community is hurting again. There are those that have had their lives changed and worlds forever topsy terrible due to the recent pandemic. Many great programs can been created to help the public at large. Many jobs have been lost, individuals losing their homes. The local level, Las Vegas has to come together and help our neighbors. Could you imagine not being able to feed the children? The pain that must surround those in our community. Let their cries be heard? Forget the past, we must strive to build a better future. We need everyone too. As a community we are Vegas Strong. We invented that incredible unity after that tragic shooting at the Mandalay Bay. The staff here have designed a wonderful community action plan to assist the public. If your in need of rental assistance this is an organization that will help you with resources as they become available. There's more of those that need help, than financial funds to go around. You will have to provide information requested of you to prove your need for rental and other financial services. Please check with the local office for guide lines. Turn Love in Luck. Save someone else! Solve someone else's problems with a little bit of charity. Today was the last day of this current fund raising program. Know that if you can ever help financially they will always accept your kind donation. Every donation is a tax right off for you and yours. The funds will go to those in need too. This organization is local and practices proper business ethics. If you can help, do so! If not that's alright too. We all families and crisis these days in our own personal paths to handle. Are you looking for an organization to give back in another way. Perhaps financially you cannot give. You can volunteer and give the best gift their is. The blessing of "your time," is priceless. You will never get that gift back. Make an afternoon of bringing joy to another. Use your good works to show how much you care Vegas. We are their voice. Darkness is not allowed, only the light! The onset of COVID has killed many programs due to funding drying up! Now many organizations have just recently been given the green light to re open. If you do want to volunteer, your health is just as important as anything else in life; it's precious! Many procedures are in practice to safe guard you from any ill or exposure to the virus. All the protective equipment necessary for your health has been taken. Aside from the mask which must be worn all the time let's go give it a try. Roll up your sleeves and pass on some happy with your hard works. Make it the weekend thanks of good will to your fabulous city. Give back how you can. Know that the employees and volunteers at this organization are caring and compassionate. The gift of kindness knows no bounds here. Pass on the blessings to those silent that are swept under the rug because they fell down. Lift up those that are around you. Life is precious and help restore the sunshine to others in need. Donations are always accepted here. Many programs have been designed to aid the Las Vegas community. Every one has the right to exist in their own space, give it back to those that might loose it. Let love always win!

Yelp
I volunteered here for their toy drive this year. The program supports parents qualifying for economic assistance. This involved assisting parents in choosing toys for their children. This included two toys per child. Alternatively, the parent could choose a bicycle or $50 gift card. Each parent could choose an additional gift for the family (even if it had only one child), in the form of a game, puzzle, or sports ball. Furthermore, a discount coupon was provided to purchase a turkey for the family to eat during the holidays. The quality and quantity of toys was impressive. There was plenty of interaction between parents, volunteers, and employees. The vibe was lively. The experience is both joyful and humbling.

Yelp
This place is great!! I had an eviction, and not only did they catch me up, but they also paid my next month's rent. I was on fmla for my heart condition, and they were so patient with me even when I called 1,000 times it was just me being nervous about rent. Ashley stayed professional with me and understanding so grateful for them and their help this is the best Christmas gift I could have! I thank God for everything!

Yelp
I am another community provider and have called EVERY EXTENSION in the phone tree, not only does NO ONE answer but the "voice mailbox is full and cannot receive messages". Thank GOD I am not a customer who needs help. I am so disappointed and utterly disgusted.

Yelp
This place is a scam someone in another comment said the charity nazi indeed they are . I was told to come on Monday for the diper bank and they said there going on lunch till 1:40 and it was 11:55 am They never told me this prior as if I had the gas to drive there once then drive home then drive back there again, at that point you would think I should just go buy my own dipers but I already had gas in my car . They were so rude when u asked if I could wait in the lobby until her lunch was over so I could save my gas and be in the air conditioner while I wait the receptionist said no as well the lady who runs the diper bank rudely said no . Lucky I was able to google another diper bank who said to come over asap to come and grab dipers NO PROBLEM. I've also requested a car seat back from them before I even had my baby and the lady who runs the diper bank never got back to me and my baby is 4 months now , I was able to get one at some point but there was a time when I really needed help and they were not able to service me . This place needs to be investigated or hire employees who actually understand peoples needs and can really help and understand as well have compassion .

Yelp
I will start out with a compliment. Areleene at "Weatherization" Help of Southern Nevada is great. She is a professional and caring. She should be the one to train others in the organization on how to HELP our community members in need. HOWEVER, Elizabeth in "EAP" department is rude and unable to answer questions. As a matter of fact she is LOUD and people can hear your personal business even as you wait in the waiting area to be seen. Their mission statement say "We serve with Care" She threatened me by saying if I don't sign the "Milner Form" allowing them to release my personal information to about 8 other agencies she would not process my application for assistance, further she said either sign it or go to Welfare. I asked to speak to her supervisor who refused to come to me saying have her go to welfare than. Then said "What s your choice?" At the end of humiliating me by berating me she said it will take 90 days. I was like 90 days I need assistance now. She looked at me from head to toe and said You are not in an emergency situation. Elizabeth than yelled at her Volunteer AmeriCorps worker "Go get it now!" Seriously how they got the contract to provide energy assistance is beyond me. Elizabeth you need to not intimidate people and threaten because you have a job. When you are a position of HELP and work for a HELP program shouldn't you HELP people. Don't say you can sit down and work through the application and people have questions get mad (probably because you don't know the answer) at us. Elizabeth Stop why don't you go get trained by Areleene. HELP you need to look at your privacy issues and how your staff interrogates people. Put people in closed door offices our privacy matters especially with identity theft being a problem. HELP you should know better

Yelp
I'm a disabled veteran who was in the middle of relocating to Nevada when COVID19 broke out. I had moved from Los Angeles due to health issues. I needed somewhere to stay for 30 days and reached out to the VA who sent me to Help of Southern Nevada. It is only the grace and mercy of God Himself that I was able to be placed in a Hostel. Having a immune system that is already comprised I have to be concerned about environments. I was placed in a single room with kitchen and groceries, daily lunch, and courtesy calls were abundant. Alyson, and her outreach crew and the intake personnel I will never forget. In times like these kindness and love and care for each other is what this nation needs! Thank you so much for everything. I didn't know how it was going to turn out and it turned out well!

Yelp
I wanted to give a big shout out to Maria Hernandez. She has been helping my family with the rental assistance from chap assistance. She has been in contact with me making sure all documents we done on a timely manner. I really appreciate her time and dedication that she has provided. I highly recommend. Thank you once again for your support.

Yelp
AWESOME OUTREACH, SELF BUILDING AND AWARE RESOURCE CENTER. This place will pick you up from the very bottom, no matter who you are, and build you back so, you can reach the top again. If you have the will, this place has the way. Strong staff motivation willing to help at any call, email or wave of a hand. These are important and very busy people. Yet, they are here, giving their time and teaching others to obtain their stability. Stability turns into safety which, in return, can then allow those dreams to become a reality. Weekly job readiness programs. Holiday giving through working with the many other organizations throughout southern Nevada. There are so many perks with this program that, I can't spoil with mentions here. Please, go through the job readiness program and get back into the field. Been out of work due to an injury, accident, traumatic situation, it really doesn't matter. All is welcome with the proper attitude. Don't come for a free ride. Come focused and ready to work because, that's what this is all about people. A paycheck in the end.
