Helsinki Art Museum (HAM)

Tove exhibition was closed but the others were fantastic. Highly recommend, I sometimes forget that this is actually quite a large museum space.

I was visiting this museum first time in my life. Impressive, very impressive. I was visiting 2 parts - changing and permanent exhibition. Tove Janssom's life story and work took a lot of my attantion in firts floore. The second one was for four Nordic Art price nominees. This huge floral expression from candies was my favorite.

Very impressive curation and collection. The biennial choices were excellent. Looking at the natural world and art, it is one of the best collections I’ve seen doing that combo. Some beautiful pieces in the general collection aswell. I loved wasps.

The staff at this museum were not welcoming or friendly. They charge €2 for a guide and when you ask them for directions around they won’t give it to you… this was a strange experience for me, the first time I’ve had this at an art museum and I would not recommend it based on the poor customer service. There are some fantastic artworks installed across two levels, I really enjoyed the Tove exhibition and Helsinki Biennial temporary exhibition.

Feels like paying €12 just to be scolded by artists. Technically impressive, but emotionally toxic. The artist wants to show us the 'pulse of life,' but it feels more like a laboratory of nightmares. The description promises 'rebirth' and 'beacons,' but the reality is a cold, alienating world where humans feel unwelcome. I walked in looking for art and walked out with existential dread.

It was my first time here and I definitely will go again.

Each exhibition was imaginative and beautifully presented. It is a great place to see modern/contemporary Finnish art. It is hard to see the building is a museum u less you are looking for it. HUGLY RECOMMEND

I recently visited the Hessing Art Museum and really enjoyed the experience. The exhibition was impressive — full of creative installations and striking paintings. What I especially liked is that the museum also has a cinema inside. It was a nice bonus to be able to watch Superman right after exploring the art. A great mix of culture and entertainment in one place!

The Helsinki Art Museum has some "modern" and some "contemporary" art. The various galleries are large and small, plenty of good lighting and they have a free wifi. I enjoyed quite a lot of the art here, paintings and some sculptures. The more "modern" stuff is the art that I really enjoy. And then there's the "contemporary" which is sometimes a little bit too far above my head to really understand. Political messages, I tend to find a little challenging. Still, art is subjective and I'm sure you will enjoy this museum just as much as I did. [Review 10062 overall, 1647 of 2018.]

What a cool art museum! HAM, or Helsinki Art Museum is a modern/contemporary art museum located in a big shopping mall. HAM contributes a great cultural gem for the city here, with thought-provoking and interesting works of art. They had a big exhibition on Parisian art from around the time that Picasso was painting there, showing a lot of where he got his influences. They also had a seemingly permanent exhibition of photographs of a Finnish rock quarry that has interesting sounding geological features. When we went, the top floor of the museum was off-limits due to their ongoing installation of a new exhibit. So I felt like we missed a good deal of the museum's space. The museum is easy to get around, and the artworks are titled and described in English as well as Finnish. Outside the museum, there's a cool gift shop, with reasonably priced prints, cards, and some art supplies. They even have a clearance section with cool artsy books in Finnish! The museum also contributes large scale works of art to the mall that it's located in- so check out the chandelier made from pots and pans and the other big sculptures! I was really glad to find this museum. It's got some cool stuff! The best part, was we happened to show up on half-priced day- Score!
