See Big Horn Sheep up close! We stopped by the park on our way to Hoover Dam and saw three or four sheep grazing on the grass. I’m glad we stopped by afterwards as well, because at least two dozen Big Horn Sheep were enjoying the park. The beauty of Lake Mead in the background added to the experience.

If you’re driving from Las Vegas to Hoover Dam (about a 40-minute trip), you can make a quick stop at Hemenway Park in Boulder City. It’s a peaceful little park with free admission and free parking, making it a perfect detour. The park features a playground, tennis courts, and basketball courts, but the real highlight is Nevada’s local celebrity, the bighorn sheep! These wild sheep often show up in groups to graze and rest on the grassy field. They’re not afraid of people but thankfully don’t beg for food either. Watching them wander around so casually is absolutely adorable. If you walk past the lawn and head a bit further downhill, you’ll catch a beautiful view of Lake Mead, adding to the relaxing vibe. Good to know: • No dogs allowed in the park • Bighorn sightings aren’t guaranteed, as they come and go on their own schedule 📍 Hemenway Park 401 Ville Dr, Boulder City, NV 89005

Hemenway Park, Boulder City – Rating: 4.5/5 Visited: July 2024 – On the way from Hoover Dam to Las Vegas Located in Boulder City, Hemenway Park was a refreshing and memorable stop during our journey from Hoover Dam to Las Vegas. Despite the intense July heat, the park offered a light breeze and scenic beauty that made it a pleasant place to relax. What made it truly special was the sight of wild bighorn sheep, Nevada’s state animal, peacefully grazing on the grassy lawns. Seeing them so close, in a calm and natural setting, was an unexpected highlight. The park is well-maintained and family-friendly, featuring a children’s playground, basketball court, picnic tables, and clean restrooms. It’s set on a hillside, offering great views of Lake Mead and the surrounding desert mountains, making it ideal for a short rest, photo stop, or even a picnic. The flow of our visit felt natural and relaxing—we parked easily, enjoyed the views, spotted the sheep, and had a short walk around the grounds. Everything about the park is simple yet charming, offering a quiet break from the highway and the bustle of Las Vegas. If you're traveling this route, I highly recommend stopping at Hemenway Park for 20–30 minutes. Just bring water, wear a hat or sunscreen, and keep a respectful distance from the animals. It’s a peaceful, scenic, and rewarding spot that adds a unique touch to any Southwest road trip.

Google
Such a great little get away from the city. Just a 40 min drive from Centennial Area. Laying under a beautiful tree on the fresh green grass is recharging and medicine to my soul and being. The bullhorns are very chill and such a sight to see at a park. Bring a blanket, do a picnic and come catch the sunset here. You’ll love it!

Google
This park is in Boulder City with a stunning view of Lake Mead in the distance. The park is home to a small herd of Desert Bighorn Sheep, which you will find there almost anytime you visit. The park has a limited amount of parking, especially for the popularity and size of the park. There is a large green grass area, which the bighorn sheep seem to rule over, along with a few very mature large trees for shade. The park has two covered small pavilions, two horseshoe pits, a kid’s playground, basketball courts, tennis courts, and restrooms. However, the biggest attraction to this park is the bighorn sheep, which are amazing to see, coexisting with people. Just remember, to respect them by keeping your distance, watching your children and there are no dogs allowed at this park.

Google
This was a wonderful, relaxing park. It was away from heavy traffic, so it did not distract or bother the rams. We went little around 2pm and there was a wind which made the 102°F temp feel a little more at ease. We were surprised at how many rams was there which was a delight and how they really felt at ease with people around.

Google
If you’re going to visit the Hoover Dam and you want a nice quiet and beautiful view with lots of greenery? This park is a must visit when you’re in the area. We rented a car and drove around. Found this park with Big Horn sheeps! What a surprised this park was. Highly recommend this park to visit for nice relaxing stop and get away from the crowds.

Google
Best place to see the great view of Lake Mead, Nevada. If you’re lucky, you may even be able to find a whole bunch of sheep there or Rams, but please do not be that tourist that goes up to them because they are so wild animals and you will get a $5000 fine and please pack in and pack out do not litter. Thank you very much. Hope you enjoy it.

Yelp
WOW! I was amazed at the beauty and tenderness of the Bighorns! They really do come down and nibble on the wide-open park grass area. They come down and return up the rocky mountain side. They let you come pretty close (10ft) to admire and take pics. Common sense should prevail when dealing with these wild animals accustomed to humans. Lots of parking available. Tennis courts, short dirt trail, amazing views, picnic areas, children playground and more. Forgot this is a real public park for humans!

Yelp
A great park in Boulder City with outstanding views of Lake Mead. We took the trip out here from Henderson. Alongside the views of Lake Mead, there is a playground, a small hiking path, tennis courts, and a baseball field. Dogs are not allowed at this park, mainly because of the bighorn sheep that hang out around here. You may see them if you're here at the right time. Unfortunately we did not get to see the bighorn sheep, possibly because of the groundskeeping work that was going on at the time of our visit. We got to walk around the Lake Mead Path, which was very short but we were able to get some steps in at least. Perhaps we'll get to see the bighorn sheep next time upon our return.

Yelp
I've always wanted to visit Hemenway Valley Park and keep checking the reviews to see if the mountain sheeps are always there or not... We've decided to have a picnic today and finally went. The view is beautiful as well as the park. Having a morning coffee in silence while staring at Lake Mead is a blessing.... Until the mountain sheeps showed up. I felt really lucky (lol)... I got really excited because I haven't seen them this close. It is a nice place and I will probably be visiting more .

Yelp
At first glance this park looks just like any other ordinary park around any neighborhood with a lake view, but if you visit at the right time, you won't be disappointed. Bighorn sheep sighting can vary depending on season and time of the day, but two out of three visits I was able to see them grazing! This would make a good stop by on your way to Hoover Dam, but this park alone would be worth a visit whether you are a local or visitor. I highly recommend visiting downtown Boulder City afterwards!

Yelp
Hemenway Park is located in Boulder City, near Lake Mead. We come here quite often for the beautiful lake view, green grass, trees, the easy hike on the short trail, and most importantly for the amazing sights of the Bighorn Sheep. We are most likely successful seeing them right before sunset. They are beautiful! The park has numerous benches to sit on and just enjoy the view. You're welcome to bring your own blanket or sit down under the gazebo and relax, have a nice picnic. There are clean restrooms on the side! The park is also very clean and well maintained, lit up after dusk. Children can play on the playground. We like the short walk on the trails around the park. They put informative signs about nature on the ground to make the walk more interesting. Plenty of parking spaces on the road and on the side parking lot.

Yelp
Small park with a playground. Known mostly for the wild sheep that frequent the area. The sheep are variously called bighorn sheep, mountain sheep, desert sheep, mountain bighorn sheep. They're wild, so it's best not to get too close. Watch for sheep droppings when walking on the grass. Dogs are not allowed. There are some other animals here: hummingbirds, roadrunners, quail. Supposedly snakes and tortoises as well, though I didn't see any of those.

Yelp
All the heart eyes for the big horns. I can't get over how amazing it is to see them just hanging out. Close to Bicentennial Park where we could let dogs out since they can't come here understandably. Such a gorgeous back drop. Less bighorns than last time but I think it's hotter this time around. I'll have to dig around for some pics from first visit. I hope people remain respectful of the bighorns space as they were on this visit, the first visit was super disappointing to see some people trying to get right up close to them. Has a kid playground and decent park bathrooms. Very worth a drive from Vegas.

Yelp
This park is BEAUTIFUL! Didn't get to catch the big horn sheep out but it's a great spot regardless so I didn't mind all that much. There's a really nice trail you can follow and it leads all the way down to a clearer path past the dirt road where you get a very clear view of Lake Mead. The drive down is not bad at all and is very smooth. There is a basketball court, playground, and l believe a tennis court but it could have been pickle ball I'm not too sure. As a heads up, the park does not allow dogs as a means to preserve the wildlife there, but I unfortunately saw many people bringing their dogs that end up chasing or barking at the wildlife that live there. Overall, highly recommend going as a little day trip for a picnic, hike, or just to enjoy the views!

Yelp
I adore this place!!! A little far from where I live (an hour driving...) but if you live in Henderson or Boulder, why not!!! Been here a few times and they have cute horns everywhere if you get lucky!!! Nice park.

Yelp
This park is an incredible hidden gem that I've been visiting for years, and it never fails to amaze me! I absolutely adore watching the majestic bighorn sheep against the breathtaking backdrop of Lake Mead. It's truly a sight to behold, especially during the warmer months when the sheep venture down. If only I lived closer, I would come here every day to marvel at these magnificent creatures. Don't forget to pack a picnic, bring your camera, and savor your time in this enchanting place. If you journal or meditate/do yoga, this is a great place for inspiration! Just remember to respect the sheep's territory and observe them from a distance as I have seen several people get to close and scare them, which is not so nice. TAKE A VISIT HERE ALREADY, even if the sheep are not out you'll still enjoy amazing views of Lake Mead. This park does not disappoint!

Yelp
10-2-22 The park is tiny and has a small colorful playground equipment. We tried before breakfast & left our lodging at 6 a.m., after breakfast about 7:45 a.m. and upon leaving Boulder City to catch a glimpse of the long horned sheep but none were to be seen. Doc asked a woman walking her dog who told her the herd was there yesterday but she thinks the herd is getting smaller plus maybe because of the rain they have enough water and don't come down only sporadically. We will just have to try again on another trip to Vegas.

Yelp
We went to this park during labor day weekend hoping to see some sheep, but there weren't any. When driving nearby we did see some quail and bunnies. I did notice quite a few people brought their dogs. Please note that dogs are not allowed at this park. (I assume it has something to do with the sheep). There is a play area with swings and a small children's park. There are tennis courts & basketball court as well. There are areas to picnic and there is a public restroom. The views of Lake Mead and the mountains were incredible! So, I'm going to share those with you. Enjoy!
google avatar

Charmaine D.

Yelp
Went there on a bad day since we didn't see any sheep. My son still had fun on the playground although the regular size swings were missing. There were some round metal circular things with caution tape on them maybe because they're bent? The slide area had obvious wear and tear but still fun for the kid. The spinning ride and climbing wall is a must do. Again we mainly went here to see the sheep but learned from a local, who was also there at the same time, that we need to go in the summer when the grass is higher.
google avatar

Mischita H.

Yelp
My kayaking tour guide stopped by here hoping to show us the resident wild life - the wild rams! Today we were in luck as we got to see 3 of them just hanging out in the park, nibbling grass and minding their own business. Epic. The lake view was pretty amazing as well. The weather was nice so it would have been cool to spend some time hanging out there today.
google avatar

Tiane M.

Yelp
One of our favorite parks to go to, whether it's for a lunch break or just passing by and sitting outside for 30 mins, watching the Rams. A huge thing to note is that if you visit this park, 1. No pets! This is huge due to our bighorn having 100% free roam, 2. There is a playground, so be weary of the kiddos,, 3. Enjoy the beauty of it. Remember, they may be free roaming, and they may come very close to you, but they still will attack if provoked, and 4. I get asked a lot about "times." The ram are around. We usually see them early mornings 6am-8am and then 345pm-645pm. Sometimes, they do roams at other hours, depending on our weather. Enjoy this beautiful park and all that nature offers. It truly should be in your to-do list if you visit our town.

Yelp
Bighorn Sheep in Boulder City, Nevada... I had heard about this natural phenomena from local Nevada residents, Terri and Mel C. We tried to look for the sheep in the past, but maybe we went in the winter? My friend, Jessica P., had seen the bighorn sheep with her family. Her review - as well as Norm K.'s review - gave me motivation to try again. I also got a tip from a Park Ranger (who lives in the area) that the sheep appear in the late afternoon. They stroll down from the mountains to graze on the park's grass. Niki and I were on our way to Lake Mead. We stopped by Hemenway Park before and after we got to the Lake. The sheep weren't there before our trip to the beach, but they were there afterwards! Wow!!! Just wow!!! I was thrilled to see them! They are so graceful and beautiful! It's nature in action! People were playing tennis and children were at the playground. The sheep were eating away and one was just resting on the sidelines. They are amazing! I was so happy to see them in person at about 3:45pm in early November. If you get a chance to go... Check them out! The parking is free and the views are spectacular!
google avatar

Myra S.

Yelp
This is a great park, especially If you are lucky enough to be there when the Big Horn Sheep are!! Obviously, dogs are not allowed, which is nice, (not an an animal hater!), but it makes for a nice relaxing place for the sheep!! they are there!
google avatar

Sarah A.

Yelp
What can be said that hasn't been said already? It's a rare and special privilege when wildlife and humans can find a peaceful balance. Its fortunate the sheep feel safe and comfortable to come this random park but even better that people haven't screwed it up. Let's keep it that way. I personally felt 10ft was a good distance to keep. Any closer the sheep start to move away from you. There's lots of poop on the ground so be mindful of that :) And lastly, just, if you bring kids, please teach them to be respectful. Don't encourage them to go chasing the sheep making screaming noises. I respect the stranger who very politely asked the kids to stop, and appreciate the parents for telling their kids to stop. Other than that, it is a nice park. Free parking. There's a short but well maintained walking path. And overall is a wonderful hidden gem.
google avatar

Yelp
What a great stop just outside Vegas. I went around 3 pm and there were about 15 bighorns grazing at the rear of the park. Sitting still, several came within feet of me, but then moved along when a tour bus dropped of a bunch of people. Get out and walk around the short trails, sometimes they aren't visible from the parking lot, but back toward the amazing view of lake mead
google avatar

Andrew W.

Yelp
This is a great stop while in Boulder City! It's a park where Big Horn Sheep live and graze with a beautiful view of Lake Mead. Doesn't cost a thing but be careful of where you walk as you take pictures. Add this to your list as a must if you visit Boulder City, a great day trip to get out of Las Vegas

Tao T.

Yelp
First time here. We were lucky to see all the goat/sheep. Also there's a short trail next to the park which has bunny, lizards, etc. fun for family.
google avatar

Yelp
Cool small park best known for the bighorns. Hemenway Valley Park is off from a residential area of Boulder City. It isn't anything special itself. A small playground and some grass. The sheep is why anyone goes here. If you haven't seen bighorns up close now you can. Many come from the nearby mountains to eat the grass and chill out here. They are quiet and just lay around or wander. Don't be fooled by how gentle they are. Everyone should know they're wild animals and you can potentially get hurt. This isn't a petting zoo. Give them space and let them eat. They also come here looking for shade. Besides the sheep there isn't much in the park except for the playground so they really are the main attraction. If you wander further into the park you can find some trails to Lake Mead. This leads to some more trails and hiking toward Hoover Dam if you feel like going there.

Yelp
Hemenway valley park is home to one of the coolest park experiences I've ever had. It was July 2012 and a buddy and me was on a guys trip to Vegas and we decided to go to the Hoover dam. We found this park by accident on our trip from Vegas to the dam. As you can see from my photos this park was crawling with big horn sheep. They were just grazing About everywhere and hanging around people like a house cat or dog would. Was a cool site to see for a a couple of Kentucky boys. As we do not have wild big horn sheep. We have Deers, raccoons, and possums everywhere. An occasional coyote or fox sighting but not big horn sheep. So it was cool to see a different type of animal up close and personal. The park itself based of memory was very large and spacious. Had a beautiful and scenic back drop. Me and my girls took a cross country family trip last summer in 2020 and we actually drove through Vegas and I kept trying to remember the name of this park or find it and was unlucky. The other day I stumbled across old photos and found out the name so that was a missed opportunity. If we ever make it out west towards Vegas again I'll absolutely bring my kids here and hope that the big horn sheep are still hanging around as I think my wife and 4 daughters would love to experience that. Overall really cool place and an experience I'll Remember for a lifetime.

Yelp
What a beautiful park with an even better view! A quaint little park with a ton of green grass space, picnic tables, benches, basketball courts, playgrounds, and stunning views of Lake Mead! The one newest addition...Big Horn Sheep! There are literally a hundred of them grazing on the lush grass in the park! They are still wild, so my suggestion would be to admire them from afar!
google avatar

Billy L.

Yelp
This is a family park. A few bighorn sheep you can see for free. There is a small park with a merry go round and rock climbing. The rock climbing is only for little kids.
google avatar

Raz B.

Yelp
So glad I came! I came around 3:00 in the afternoon and there were tons of them. They were absolutely awesome plus you get a great view of lake Mead. Most people were respectful of their space. One guy brought his dogs and they went away despite signs that say no dogs. One guy tried to pet them. Don't recommend that. Cool AF tho. It's only a slight drive up from downtown Boulder City. It's on the side of the road with all of the park equipment.

Yelp
It's Sunday Funday!! July 5, 2020, at 9:00am and about 100 degrees, WE SAW THE BIGHORN SHEEP!! It's Nevada's State mammal! Gosh, what a beautiful sight to see!! Groups of sheep lounging beneath the shady trees while others stood munching on the expansive green grass in a public park. This makes me happy!! A much needed change from the dry desert landscape. Just a 20-minute drive from Henderson to this little oasis in Boulder City, near Lake Mead. Such a cute little town and a great little park. No fees for parking or entering. Prior to visiting, I read the sheep walk down from the River Mountains to graze and rest in the shade at Hemenway Park beginning the month of May through mid-summer. Man, we timed it right! We easily spotted them from the street parking lot. The National Park Service reports that sheep populations at Lake Mead are used for translocation to other places in Nevada and as far away as Texas. That's probably why some collar tags were visible. There are so many patches of shade with benches placed beneath the large green trees. Nice gazebo spots with tables for many to enjoy the sprawling views of green grass and from a distance, Lake Mead! I could soak in these views forever, but my growling tummy had me at 11:00am. Our 1-hour visit was perfect enough though. You could walk around the tennis courts and playground for more areas of interest to the sheep. It was fun to watch the sheep interact, especially the male with the burly horns taking charge. He doesn't mess around and the rest of the squad is obedient! As for the humans vs sheep, just keep your distance. If you chase them though, they will chase you!! Ahh! I can't wait to return. Hopefully, the sheep will still be around when it starts cooling down a bit.

Yelp
So very peaceful and cool to walk out into the park and see the big horn sheep what a special day!!! Feeling blessed!!!
google avatar

Yelp
The locals recommended us going to this place. It has beautiful lake view (lake mead) and lots of big horn goats. A must see if you come to Vegas!
google avatar

Yelp
Beautiful place. Please don't disturb the sheep. Enjoy the view and nature at its best.
google avatar

Yelp
We started to go to the historic railroad trail at Lake Mead for an afternoon stroll but it looked like everyone had the same idea during this Covid 19 time. It looked to be pretty crowded and the social distancing looked tricky so we decided to head back to Hememway park up the road. Actually my daughter got married here last fall and it truly is a beautiful setting with the back drop of the mountains and Lake Mead. There's picnic tables, a pavilion, benches, tennis and basketball courts, playground equipment and a few trails where you can take a mild walk to observe the flora. It's really not ever crowded and people just come to sit on the benches and watch the big Horn sheep that gather there. 5 minutes to Boulder City, 20 minutes to Las Vegas.
google avatar

Stella Y.

Yelp
This is a super random stop along the way to the Hoover Dam. It's known for longhorn sheep to just wander over and eat the grass. Be careful not to get too close! They have a lot of signs up in the park detailing out the sheep and warnings of what not to do. There's a few benches where you can sit and enjoy the view which is what I did. You get a great view of the lake and the sheep just chillin and eating.
google avatar

Brandon M.

Yelp
We stopped here during a NPS Hoover Dam highlight tour. Very well kept kept green area where bighorn sheep roam freely and rest in the shade. Free entry. NO DOGS and please keep your distance from these WILD animals. Great photo opportunities. You also in a city of well known celebrities that have homes there.

Tara D.

Yelp
Such a neat experience. My kids love to go and just watch the sheep. We didn't realize it was a no dog park until we're about to walk in we saw the sign and all the sheep staring at my little dog. We had to leave and come back another day without the pup.

Yelp
Hemenway Valley Park is popular for the local Desert Big Horn Sheep that visit...they are very cool to see.. Hemenway Amenities: There's one shaded picnic/dining area but plenty of grass fields. The playground and swings for the kids will keep them busy for awhile. There's a fenced basketball area with 6 hoops that offers one regulation full court or two smaller full length courts. There's a horseshoe pit and there's a great view of Lake Mead on a clear day. There's some dirt mountains on the lake side where you can hike up quickly to get a better view of the lake. Hemenway Desert Big Horn Sheep: It's awesome how the Big Horn Sheep just kind of roam around peacefully in a group. They are completely oblivious to the Human audience watching them chill out peacefully. The sheep are very social with humans and they were comfortable with only being a few feet away. Still take precautions as they are still wild animals. Overall it's a small park but you're here to hang out with the Desert Big Horn sheep. It's definitely worth one visit to check out but I'm pretty sure I'll be back one day. Enjoy!

Yelp
I love sitting in this park watching the sheep graze. The view of lake mead and the surrounding mountains is amazing. Pack a lunch and sit and relax or grab some food in town and come for an afternoon of tranquility or relax after a bike ride on one of the many trails around Boulder City, a visit to Hoover Dam or hike through the tunnels.

Yelp
It was the end of a nice afternoon in Boulder City NV heading back to Arizona. One of our party gave us directions to this nice little park over looking Lake Mead and the big horn sheep were there as well.

Yelp
"Above the clouds I will soar, to a new land where I will cry no more." A dedicated quote to one of Boulder City's Pioneer. A dedication to all the HeMen and Women who have earned their wings. To all the Lost Angels who have found their way home. Perhaps a fitting reference to the infamous Los Angelos Rams team.As we can refer to ourselves as players in the game of Life. And sheep who earned their horns in the Afterlife.

Yelp
I have been wanting to visit Hemenway for a long time. This is a great stop on the way to Lake Mead or hiking at Railroad hiking trail, both just down the street. Hemenway is located on Ville Drive just off Boulder City Pkwy. Its definitely a lot smaller than the pictures make it look however it is a beautiful park. You have great views of Lake Mead as well as picturesque rocks all around. On the day we went there were only 6 or 7 sheep but it was in the middle of the day in winter when they are usually still up in the mountains. There is a bathroom and a small playground as well as benches and a covered area with tables. Plenty of parking in the lot or on the street.

Yelp
Such a green, clean and relaxing park to visit in an early morning to catch the long horn sheep and enjoy the view of Lake Mead... Loved it!

Yelp
So many bighorn sheep. What a cool stop. Completely recommend. Signs are a little old and hard to read.

Yelp
We love all the parks in Boulder City Nevada. It's nice to take your family to the park to see the big horn sheep. I like taking my lunch there on a work day. It's a nice place to relax for 30 minutes with the view of Lake mead. Sherrill Graff owner of Creative Salon in Boulder City Nevada

Yelp
This was the coolest thing I have ever seen I'm so glad I was able to see the Big Horn sheep. We went at 8am & they weren't there so decided to drive around Boulder City and get some breakfast & go back. Pulled up at 8:45 & they were there!!!' So amazing!!! Even saw quail & a few bunnies

Yelp
Before there was a spike in cases (and spike in temps), I managed to enjoy a picnic here with my SO. There was no one around 90% of the time, and those who arrived kept ample distance. So we sat under the shade of a tree, set up our blanket, and enjoyed food from two local establishments - Los Tacos Mexicana and Kneaders (ok Kneaders is a small chain but their bread is baked fresh every day and tastes amazing!) And we enjoyed a dessert of cherry pie I made from scratch. I was super excited to see the bighorn sheep. They came trotting out in a group, super adorable as they grazed. This is a lovely park for family! But wear masks and social distance!

Yelp
I love this park. I only live a little over a mile away but I go past every day. It is clean and so peaceful with all the long horn sheep grazing there everywhere. Overlooks Lake Mead. Very nice view

Yelp
A Lake Mead National Recreation Area volunteer suggested Hemenway Valley Park for our kiddos, ages 3 and 4. This park stays fairly crowded with Bighorn Sheep gawkers. We were here at around 4:30 in the afternoon one mid-September day and the herd was sizable - the Ovis canadensis kind, that is. Some people moved dangerously close to the male sheep for selfies. I scratched my head thinking, "Yeah, they're smaller than they seem, but wait until he rams your skull with his." When we got there, our girls wanted to go straight to the playground which they enjoyed, but I don't think bigger kids would like it as much. Dogs are not allowed. Probably because of Mr. Grumpy Pants Overprotective Bighorn Daddy who stayed alert of each human newcomer. I'd recommend a visit here especially if you enjoy seeing free range Bighorns - they're everywhere! There is also Lake Mead in the background. OTHER AMENITIES - gazebos with picnic tables - swings - lighted tennis court - lighted softball fields - basketball hoops - horseshoe pits TIP - be careful of sheep scat '17 Challenge #128

Yelp
Lots of parking lots of free space lots of sheep I'm really glad the sheep are people friendly I never remember them as friendly as they were today. Lots of open space plus tennis courts, ball fields and place grounds. No dogs allowed probably to keep them safe from the sheep. Must stop if your in town. 5 Stars

Yelp
Hemenway Valley Park 5 Stars!!!! I didn't come here for a BBQ. I didn't come here to shoot hoops. I stopped by Hemenway Valley Park to see the Big Horn Sheep. The park has a lot of open field. There, you'll find Big Horn Sheep just minding their own business. They're just chillin'. And if Big Horn Sheep wrote Yelp reviews, I'm sure that they'd give this park 5 Stars too. TIP #1: Located in Boulder City, NV TIP #2: Views of Lake Mead TIP #3: I didn't see any goats

Yelp
Once upon a time, when I was a little girl, I would try my hardest to spot a Bighorn Sheep from my parents boat on Lake Mead. Those special moments only happened a couple of times, and the Bighorn Sheep were pretty far away at that. Fast forward 30 years, and I have the good fortune bringing my kids to a beautiful state park, overlooking Lake Mead and seeing dozens of wild Bighorn Sheep at once, up close and personal. Along with the Bighorn Sheep, there are ample picnic tables, lots of benches to sit, large grassy area, playground for the kids, tennis courts and restrooms. The park is exceptionally clean and surprisingly very quiet. I've been here several times, and there are never more than a couple families, if that. Bighorn Sheep is Nevada's State animal. I highly recommend going, especially if you have kids. What a great way to show them our state animal. Once almost extinct, conservation efforts have saved them. Remember, they are wild animals. While they are very calm around people, use common sense and keep a respectful distance. One recommendation I have to parks and recreation, is to put a canopy over the playground for shade. It get extremely hot for the kids and the playground slides and swings. Overall, a must do for locals, tourists, kids, grownups, photographers and animal lovers. One of Las Vegas/Boulder City's best kept secret.

Yelp
This park is so peaceful & beautiful. The Big horn sheep are very quiet and won't bother you but if you get too close the move away. Don't yell or throw objects at them please. They're harmless. They're very peaceful & just so cool to watch.
