Hen Chicken Rice Boston

Writing this review as I’m eating my order. I work close by and am so mad I’m just discovering this place. I’m trying the mixed combo (half crispy chicken and half boiled chicken, I think) and everything is SO GOOD! The rice is flavored perfectly with no grease and the chicken is so tender. The soup also feels very nourishing. Very friendly staff! I would gladly make this my go-to lunch spot anytime I’m on the office.

This place was really great. I got the chicken rice combo. I can’t wait to go back and get it again.

Good spot to try Thai Chicken rice. As one of the two Thai chicken rice specialty places in the Greater Boston area, Hen Chicken Rice delivers satisfying Thai street food at an affordable price. In the past year, they expanded to two new locations. While the food at their original Somerville location is better, this location didn’t disappoint too much. During my recent visit, I opted for three of their rice plates with a side of spicy crispy chicken. The crispy chicken lived up to the memories of my previous visits in Somerville, but 'The Original,' which boasts boneless poached chicken, was a tad dry this time around, lacking the moist tenderness. The standout for me was the Isan. Comprising crispy chicken thigh laid over a bed of sticky rice, this dish was a delightful surprise. The rice, devoid of the seasoning present in the other plates, had an extra chewy texture, which paired really well with the juicy bits of chicken thigh. If you’re on the hunt for the pinnacle of Thai chicken rice experiences, I’d urge you to visit their original outpost in Somerville. However, if you’re just looking for a quick Thai fix, this branch, with its spicy crispy chicken or the Isan, might get the job done.

The boiled chicken and spicy crispy chicken taste amazing! The wings are sooo fire. Great, healthy food and very convenient whether you just want a quick bite or a nice lunch. The interior is beautiful. I came during opening week and the owner is soooo nice.

Love the lunch box so much! Crispy boneless chicken is my favorite! Like the sauce comes with the boiled chicken as well! I come to this place every week! Highly recommend! Ice tea is not that sweet, love it!

this was a great stop while exploring boston! the service was quick and the prices were incredibly cheap for the great quality <33 id also like to say its incredibly accessible i could easily get in and out with my crutches :-) best lunch stop of the day!

Very good, well presented, good prices, definitely a great option for a quick meal ... My sticky rice was a bit too wet though, superb nonetheless.

Have been going here since they opened. I was very excited to have Haianese chicken rice here in Boston, so close to my home. Have only had good experience to date. I go there frequently for dinner and occasionally for lunch. However, yesterday, I ordered on their website for pickup. The order was processed, and my credit card was charged. I walked over to the shop to find it closed, all lights off, and the doors closed. A bright red attachment on the front door from the City of Boston stated "Code Violation." The website still showed that this store was open in the evening. I disputed the charge with the credit card company and called the restaurant the next day. They claimed they could not speak English and didn't understand me and that their restaurant now closes at 4pm. The worker stated she didn't know how to refund a credit card transaction. Really sad that the customer experience has deteriorated so much. Will not return as they have now lost my business.
