"Hen House Grill is one of the most long-standing restaurants in the Irvine area. Established in 1988, the spot serves classic Iranian dishes, in which the flavorful, juicy meat is the star. Diners rave about the ground beef skewers and rotisserie chicken, which are served with rice, vegetables, herbs and nuts. The massive portions and affordable prices are notable perks, while the complimentary tea and late-night hours are additional pluses." - Cathy Park

I have this chance to try this restaurant for the first time before Norouz celebration. The restaurant was clean. The cashier was so nice. She took my order correctly. I ordered lamb head (it comes with tongue & 2 slice of lemon & onion & 2 breads), and everything was great. The food taste was great. It was hot. The price was reasonable. They have a calm, peaceful patio. also the front area was nice. The only negative point was bread. Outside of the bread was not well cooked. I'll go with 4 stars.

Loved my three price rotisserie chicken and rice. The service was good. The atmosphere is pretty plain but there is a nice outdoor dining area nearby. Nice little Persian ice cream shop nearby as well.

Here at so called Hen Grill, I encounter with a horribly rude and unprofessional mankind that I have never seen in my entire life before (not sure he was the owner or an employee, but he was acting like an owner). Went with my family and a friend’s family for a dinner yesterday and at some point, I noticed that my daughter (8 years old) and my friend’s child (4 years old) got 3 of those small disposable cups (picture attached) filled with soda. (I usually do not give soda to my children). Upon noticed, I told my friend that I will take care of it at the time we finished with our food. While we were eating our food, that guy rushed to us in a manner that we thought wanted to warn us for an emergency and with a very ugly attitude and frowning face pointed at us and loudly shouted “Hey, drink is not free come to the front and pay” and then quickly turned his back and went to front. All customers there were shocked, and I had the worst feeling. After done with my food, I saw him at the front desk and first gave him my credit card to get charged then told him I apologize for the mistake kids did (however they put those little cups next to the soda machine that people may think ok to get some as some of the Mediterranean restaurants do or these people here doing this knowingly to charge the customers later unfairly with a sky high price, by saying unfairly I mean it see the picture attached he charged me $ 16.25 for 3 little soda cups which all are not more than 1 cup of those at fast food restaurants usually cost you below $1.00) and also told him that the way he approached and addressed the issue was totally unacceptable. Despite of this, the guy continued being rude at the same level and even told me in front of my kids that if it was an American owned restaurant, they would call the police (for God sake, tell me he was totally wrong tell me if it was an American owned restaurant someone would approach friendly with a smiley face and the apparent issue would have been addressed in a proper manner, and would definitely appreciate me being a customer ordered and order $ 96.72 in value). As I saw a lot of reviews showing customers dissatisfactions over similar issues and if you agree with me do what I do (reporting to better business bureau). P.s. In general price was higher than similar restaurants The restaurant wasn’t clean. The bread was not cooked well, and price was high for those small bread (see the picture) No customer service Thanks.

We tried this Iranian restaurant and we were not disappointed at all. Everything tasted fresh and looked healthy. The three downsides of this place is how expensive it was for the quantity of the dishes, the waiting time and the lack of choices for vegan/vegetarian. You receive lots of rice and bread but the main dish is quite small for the price you pay for. Also the restaurant works more like a fast-food so it doesn’t worth what you pay for the non existent service. Don’t eat in this place if you are in a rush. This place looked authentic with lots of Persians eating there. If you want to eat something else than your normal Mediterranean and falafel I truly suggest you this place.

I love how Hen House stays open late. Whenever I'm hungry late at night, this is my #1 go-to spot. The menu is a bit on the pricier side, but the quality is on point and worth every penny. Their hummus is on point and with the naan it complements the meal very well. The chicken skin is crispy every time I order the rotisserie chicken. They really know how to cook a chicken 👌

While The Hen Grill may not have an extravagant ambiance, it makes up for it with its warm and inviting atmosphere. The staff members are friendly, attentive, and more than willing to guide you through the menu, making your dining experience all the more enjoyable. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re dining with family, surrounded by the comforting aromas of Persian spices and the sound of lively conversations. Whether you’re a fan of Persian cuisine or new to it, The Hen Grill is a must-visit. It may lack the glitz and glamour of upscale restaurants, but it more than compensates with its exceptional food and genuine hospitality. The passion and love that goes into each dish are evident, leaving you with a memorable dining experience that will keep you coming back for more. So, if you’re in Irvine and craving authentic Persian flavors, head over to The Hen Grill. Indulge in their mouthwatering koobideh with freshly baked bread, savor the hearty dizi, and let the warm atmosphere and friendly staff transport you to the heart of Iran. You won’t be disappointed!

Koobideh was really tender and fresh. We really enjoyed the food. The place can get very busy during the weekend. The complementary bread was very tasty as well. Will definitely go back for more.

Casual but tasty and awesome atmosphere Persian food! One of the best beef kabobs (Koobideh) I’ve had and I’m a chef making them myself! They are juicy (which is a hard task to achieve for most with just beef)… great homemade bread, perfectly cooked Persian style Saffron Rice, and a complimented Persian tea to top things off! Wonderful experience! Thank you
