Hendershot's

We came to Athens and Hendershots to hear some love music. We were the in the afternoon. There is a nice university vibe in the area. Drinks were reasonable and service was friendly and efficient. I didn’t realize they served food. The venue for live music is excellent with a combination of tables and a nice couch area to listen to the artists. Definitely deserves a night visit next time we are in Athens.

Hendershot’s is the best! It’s my favorite place to perform, and my fave place to see shows/comedy. The sound system is great, the staff is always heroically sweet, and the owners are national treasures. Great coffee and fun seasonal cocktails!

We enjoyed the coffee, breakfast sandwich and pastry. Great location with lots of seating options inside and out.

Laid back, hipster vibe. Quiet enough in the day time to have a meeting or to work/study. The bottle works parking is limited with with 2hour limits, but you can continue to pay for more time. I go here often.

I am a fan of chargrilled oysters and they only serve raw. The server explained how all prepared raw oyster dishes are not served equally. I decided to give it a try. I absolutely loved them. My girls and I had shrimp & grits and fried rice. Absolutely loved! Note: The Shrimp and Grits portion is a small portion size.

Hendershot's is a great unique place and experience to drop in for delicious coffee and a fabulous selection of beverages. The atmosphere and entertainment is beyond expectations. The staff is personable, knowledgeable, and professional!!! Hendershot's carries a new and delicious Athletic Brewing Company non-alcoholic IPA brew with less than .5 alcohol called "Free Wave" "Hazy IPA. It's an up and coming trend. Do we not see it!!! Come and experience Hendershot's! Something for all!!! ❤️ Love it and highly recommend!

We always have a great time here! Really nice bar/coffee shop atmosphere. Great place to hang out with friends and get a wonderful show. Drinks are top notch here with lots of options for drinkers and nondrinkers alike!

I love this place so much! They have everything! Delicious breakfast, coffee, cocktails, art, drag shows, and a wonderful mix of performers from a plethora of different music genres. It's one of my favorite places to go with friends.

If you like espresso shots or alcohol shots, this is probably your jam! This is however, not mine! When you ask for extra sweet, because it's offered and I'm sure we paid for it when we paid $19 for 2 "coffees", but there is definitely NO sweetness to this "latte". It was supposed to be a dark and white mocha latte with 3 shots and "extra sweet". And the large cup was only half full! Where is the rest of my LARGE latte? My wife's iced whatever is ok, but feels like they forgot the sweetness for hers as well and the aftertaste is burnt coffee. Staff was there. Can't really say much more about them. It's Athens! It's a bar, clearly. It is not where I will be returning! Again, if you like unsweetened espresso, at a dark bar vibe place, this may be for you, otherwise, I don't recommend. *gave 3* because I don't want to take away from the fact that it's prob a good place for what it is, just not for us. Got 2* taken away because, I mean, "extra sweet" should mean extra sweet! My sugar lovin hubby deserved the extra sweet he ordered!

The only nearly coffee place that's open at 8AM on a Saturday. I was the only patron in the place for a while until a large group of runners came by. I guess this is their after run meeting spot. Decent coffee. Beautiful presentation. I really like the area. Lots of outdoor seating.

One of the most underrated coffee spots in Athens. Great vibe! Live music in the evenings. Quite enough to be a good workspace during the day.

Hendershots was a great spot to grab a morning cup on a recent weekend visit. We stopped in on a Saturday morning, and enjoyed a couple of lattes from their speciality menu. We also capped our visit off with an order of decadent friend beignets, dusted with ample powered sugar. Enjoying them in Hendershot's open-air, funky music venue ambiance made for a great start to the weekend.

Amazing coffee. World-class breakfast burrito. Friendly and accommodating staff. In addition, Hendershots has always gone out of their way to provide a platform for artists and musicians to gather and present their work. A haven of positivity and progress for the Athens community.

Always the best coffee and drinks in town! Great music selection weekly and and top notch service by the bartenders and baristas! Highly recommended as a coffee show, bar and music venue!

This place seems very representative of Athens in general... friendly staff, slightly run down building, adequate furnishings, great place to see a wide variety of musical performances, quirky art and strong sense of community. Occasional events (ie monthly salsa dancing) can be packed while mornings are mellow, and everything in between. Their breakfast burritos are tasty and the "MacHenderGriddle" croissant sandwich is delicious and filling. The coffee is always good. At night there isn't much food left except pre-packaged cheese plates (better than average) and occasionally a cookie. The bar serves standard stuff and a few unique cocktails. I recommend the Foxy Lady mocktail with spicy ginger ale!

Great vibe. You're seriously going to want to hang out after ordering your coffee. I love the Community Art Project near the entrance. BRILLIANT! I stayed close and couldn't stomach the hotel coffee and this place was recommended. Loved it and plenty of folks chatting at tables as well as students working on laptops. No one minds the noise and would love to come back when they have live music.

Love hendershots! One of my go to places to get coffee and hang with friends. The classic city latte is so good. They have a few food options as well in the early part of the day. The kitchen closes later

I love this place. The staff is always so friendly and welcoming. I usually come here and sit in the courtyard when it's nice out or stop in for a tea or coffee. I don't remember which tea it was, but there is a delicious purple iced tea that they have that I LOVE. Any drink I've gotten here is great and I eventually want to check out the technology free nights! Love this place, it's an Athens staple & worth a stop in!

I heard this coffee place had grrat music at night. I was only in town for a week or so working a job, so when the weekend hit, I wanted somw good music vibes! To my surprise, there was a ten-piece Brazilian band playing! I love Brazilian culture and music, and have spoken Portuguese for a long time. I sang along with tunes that I knew, and it felt great. They even had a special on the Brazilian cocktail called a "caipirinha". That translates to "little hillbilly". It is delicious, but the is no mixer in it, so watch out. They used a high grade cachaça to make it too. Most bars that have this drink use the cheap stuff, because Americans mostly donmt know this drink. It was nice to see that they upgraded and did not kill you on the price. I drank two of them (or three), tapped my feet, clapped my hands and sang my heart out. I stumbled back to my hotel, and thought maybe I would visit Athens again. Hendershotts is on my list! Maybe this time, I'll get some coffee...

Great atmosphere and very relaxed. Went on a Saturday morning and the outside sitting area was super cute. Coffee is a little expensive but there are a range of drinks and prices to choose from.

Always my favorite coffee shop turned bar after hours to visit when I'm in Athens. This particular weekend, after a disappoint Georgia loss to South Carolina, I wanted to check out this place that was far from the chaos of downtown Athens. It's definitely more of an Athens towny restaurant that's great to have group meetups, see live music, comedy shows, etc. This particular day when I went, there was a Jazz show. I didn't want to attend the show, but they allowed people to sit outside and you could still basically hear the Jazz from the courtyard seating. It was very pleasant! For my drinks I ordered a Guinness stout which was poured a little wrong, so I had to wait for it to settle for about 5 minutes before I could drink it. I also ordered the Angry pirate which was a chai latte with rum, but the drink was a little too strong for my liking and tasted like it only had a hint of chai in it. Overall solid experience, but I would maybe recommend their coffee drinks over their cocktails!

I love this space and the drinks! I've had the little sinner coffee and the espresso martini (literally the best one I've ever had!!) I like to study during the day and enjoy the outdoor space for some sunshine. I've attended one of the comedy shows, and it was so fun. I really like the versatility and variety. The optimal day and night time hangout spot with great people and drinks.

One of the greatest chai lattes I have had in a long time. I will be returning to them when ever I am visiting Athens.

My favorite coffee shop in Athens - I just love it. Coffee is so delicious and the pastries are even better. It's a great place to study and the vibes are immaculate. Highly recommend.

Amazing coffee, amazing vibes. Hendershots is a staple in Athens, well known to locals. It's a wonderful spot to study or meet up with friends. It also hosts many events (comedy nights/performances/music).

Great nitro coffee and fun environment. The open style is really amazing for spring and fall weather. For me, the only thing missing was a vegan pastry option to go with my coffee. Anywhere else that would be really nit picky but since athens is so vegan friendly I'd hoped for an option.

We had a great time at a fundraiser for Strings of Mercy. It was a wonderful setting wit lots a beautiful music

I enjoyed coming here before Covid for some of the weekly local musicians' shows. My favorite drink here is the kombucha. After Covid, this place has the same great spirit. I am so grateful it is still open after Covid and not changed hands. It stays open because of the community spirit of the Hendershot's family. Great atmosphere and great drinks, always.

Would not even given one star after what we experienced there. Our 18 year old son just committed to the US military. We visited to see a local bluegrass band perform. They were decent, at the end they became very aggressive on the fact that this was the place that "their Stacey Abrams" spoke. What a joke, keep politics out of your business. They haven't learned the lesson to keep your mouth shut & perform. By the way, before you open our boarders to all immigrants, do you vet them to ensure they are safe around our children Hendershots?? We have 10 children very close by, our concern is their future first.

Great place to take your honey for music and drinks. Unflappable bartender. Get there 20 min before the show starts.

If you live in Athens area and want to change up your daily life, come here and enjoy the shows at night and grab a beer or some coffee! I personally drink the Cubano con Leche the most and sometimes drink the Kombucha (little pricy). Open mic night on Mondays and Jazz on Thursday. Other night have different events so check the blackboard in the shop.

What a cool space! 10:30am on a Thursday morning, very chill. Bookshelves, some comfy chairs. Day old blueberry muffins-DELISH! The chocolate chip cookie was amazing. Coffee was good. We got the Cubano and the RedEye. Wish there was cream instead of milk for the coffee. Wanted to sit outside, but they allow smoking. Gross. The barista was super kind and really knowledgeable. Will definitely be back!!

This was an absolute wonderful start to our trip in Athens. We came here on a Thursday night for a late dinner with jazz/salsa music. They had a live band which was really enjoyable. By the time we left there were couples and strangers all around salsa dancing in between the tables. This place has the feel of a hipster coffee shop by day and a hidden gem bar by night. I had the portabella burger with all of the free fixings and I added pesto with a side of olives and fetta. I had them make me up a cocktail which includes whiskey honey and lemon. They did okay, but I can't really blame them since the bar tender had never made it before. Then I had a glass of Malbec from Argentina. The atmosphere here was so interesting. It was filled with people studying, young couples on dates, and middle aged people here for the music. The general vibe is letting loose and relaxing. If I went to UGA this would probably be one of my regular stops.

The coffee was decent, nothing amazing. The place had an odd vibe, a bit bohemian for me. Stage for a band in the back, bar for wine/beer/cocktails up front, coffee in the middle of the place. Meh rating because I was expecting a coffee shop, and this seemed more like a local hang than a place to sit and get some work done. I wouldn't go there for drinks either, not my vibe. Personal taste, and I was underwhelmed when I visited. Too "hippy/local" for me.

Had a great macchiato here. Service was fast and friendly, and there was plenty of parking, as well as indoor and outdoor seating. Highly recommended.

Cute and hip coffee shop in Athens. Spacious interior with plenty of seatings. This coffee place turns into a lounge/venue with a full bar by night. Lots of local bands/musicians play here. My friend and I swung by to get a dose of some refreshing caffeine. SERVICE Baristas were very welcoming and nice. COFFEE We ordered 2 Iced Coffee straight up. Delicious. Smooth and bold.

This place is a pretty rad coffee shop, where an old gas station used to be. They have live music performances and serve both alcohol and coffee. There's not much by way of foodstuffs, though what's there is pretty good. And it's pretty much the coolest place on this side of the Athens 'hood.

Very cool atmosphere and some unique drinks: alcoholic and non alcoholic. 1920's French feel with local art and house made pastries. Live music posted for almost every night. If you're in athens you should definitely check it out

This place has a cool atmosphere, a great selection of beverages, and helpful, friendly staff. It is always fun trying new coffee shops when you are traveling, and this place did not disappoint. I was curious about their nitro cold brew (which is still a pretty rare thing) so the barista let me try it before buying. It was delicious, as a result of a good coffee and a well calibrated tap. The decor includes local art and a variety of entertaining old ads, such as an awesome Billy Dee Williams "Colt 45" sign. Lastly, their coffee stirrers are the epitome of "eco-friendly," as they are noodles. Noodles. If I ever find myself in Athens, GA again, I will surely return!

Good coffee. great mocha. but the barista was racist to us. it's also on the pricier side which I would not have minded paying if the barista treated us as nice as she treated the white customers there

The morning atmosphere was great, the coffee and coffee selection was great, the staff were great. Only complaint is that I think there was an ambiguity around the opening/closing hours.

Waiting to hear an Irish band play for early St. Paddy's Day. The cover charge was a bit steep but that is okay. Drinking an Irish coffee and hope to be speaking with an Irish brogue before the night is over. Cool atmosphere and nice vibe.

Great place for coffee and music. They have a wide variety of music, great coffee and a full bar. I've been going for years and love it. The only negative is that the parking used to be free for the Bottleworks but they recently made it a pay lot. This isn't Hendershot's decision, just the Company that manages the bottle works. Nevertheless I'm sure it's going to cost them business. The first hour is free but you still need to put a credit card in even if you're staying less than an hour. Sorry, I'm not giving my credit card for a "free" hour. Sorry to say I'll be going less because of that.

A hidden gem in Athens - perfect for studying in the morning/afternoon and hanging out at night. A fun environment and good vibes all around. The outdoor patio is also great! Loved coming here as a college student and spending hours studying. Their matcha latte is a FAVE of mine - but their coffee is great too. Definitely worth checking out this funky coffee bar!

Been coming here since I moved to Athens 10 years ago and it's my favorite coffee shop in town. I like the chill atmosphere and it's a good place to read and do work even if a band is playing. The lattes are perfection and the milk is always texturized. Really nice employees too.

Great coffee and great location in downtown Athens. They also have really good coffee and drinks to offer. The staff is very nice. They also have a lot of live shows and comedy shows here too. Always something fun and cool to do.

One of my favorite places to go to and work. If I go in the morning/early afternoon I can enjoy a nice cup of coffee, if I need to work during the later afternoon/evening hours they have adult beverages available. They also have musicians come in regularly, which is nice to experience some local talent. I haven't had a negative experience with the staff, they have always been helpful and kind. The coffee leaves a little to be desired, but decent enough - the atmosphere really makes up for it.

You never let me down. Mr. Hendershot hosted the jazz jam last night!!! What a fabulous and classy place to sip a drink! Your wait staff are always happy to serve and I cannot say enough about how their warm welcome stands as a stark contrast to other establishments in town. You guys have great beverage options and always always always great music. Thank you for your hospitality.

Cool hang out place both during the day or night. They serve both coffee and beer/wine. Smaller venue and they typically have cheap or free events during the week, like Open mic night and stand up comedy. Parking is the only issue. I hear you can park at the church for free, but the parking lot designated for the bottleworks is slightly expensive... especially if you are intending to spend the entire evening there for one of the events. You'll spend around $5 for parking for 3 hours.

If you are looking for a place where you can enjoy good music, good drinks (coffee or alcoholic!) and good people... this is THE BEST PLACE EVER!! Some of the best hospitality, and everyone is totally laid back. Great local vibe... and the music was freaking amazing!! Do yourself a favor and check it out!

We stopped by on the way back from Greenville, SC because my wife wanted some coffee. I didn't want to take her to the same ol' place, so I looked this up while we were on 441 S and we stopped in. The parking in this area isn't very good, but it's not bad on a Sunday afternoon when school is out in Athens. It's right off of Prince Ave next to the Grit basically, so I thought it might be a quirky little place. I was immediately put off walking in the door, though. It's definitely a bar and a music venue, but it's also a bit overpriced in my opinion. $2.50 for an RC in a bottle? Around $5 for most drinks in there. People peddling goods by the door. I decided I personally did not want anything. It's probably a cool night joint and the drinks are probably okay, but I wasn't impressed. Something about the place was honestly unsettling to me. My wife ordered a double Macchiato and she added a few things to it and she said the drinks were pretty good, but she wasn't raving about it. I'll just take her word for it on that one. I wasn't interested.
