The 38 Best Restaurants in Montreal

"A welcome addition to Notre-Dame’s culinary circuit, Heni comes from a team devoted to weaving the rich flavors and cultural heritage of the SWANA (Southwest Asia and North Africa) region with Quebec’s seasonal bounty into meaningful dialogue. Led by chef Julien Robillard, formerly of Pastel, the kitchen crafts dishes that exude a certain preciousness, each one clearly the result of care and thoughtful deliberation. Be sure to try the exquisite kibbeh nayyeh, a gorgeous plate of raw PEI beef and caperberries. On the drinks front, wines lean largely Lebanese, sourced from sibling wine operation Sienna, complemented by creative cocktails infused with ingredients like rose and ras el hanout. For more of that, dip downstairs to Salon Badin, the team’s listening lounge." - Valerie Silva

For the Team Behind Montreal Restaurant Lulu Épicerie, Lebanese Takeout Is Just the Beginning | Eater Montreal

"I view Heni as an upscale spot where the flavors of the SWANA region intermingle with Quebec’s seasonal bounty, positioned as part of Mamlouk’s broader effort to spotlight cultural and culinary traditions from his native Lebanon and contribute to the city's Lebanese food renaissance." - Valerie Silva

Very unique and intimate gastronomical experience, The star of the show is really the quality of seasonal ingredients and the combination of middle eastern flavors. I truly enjoyed this restaurant. The tasting menu along with a wonderful wine suggestion from the sommelier made it a night to remember. Our glasses were always full, service was impeccable! The only negative I can find is the main course was very small. Other than that, I highly recommend Heni!

Biggest problem was the portion size for price point. We spent close to $150 EACH for small side order of potatoes steak etc. Water was bottled and hot cheap. Incredibly staff team really cool decor lovely concept. Killer flavours! If you are veggie technically you could go here order fresh homemade delish pita and awesome side dips and spreads and save a fortune. A work in progress.

The food was amazing! We were lucky enough to be able to try the appetizers from the tasting menu, the pea tartelette was OUT of this world, and the steak aged with koji and served with their homemade hummus was mouth watering. Also Amber was so nice with us and made us feel like we were at home. 10/10 will definitely go back!

A refined evening of SWANA haute cuisine, dishes inspired by the rich culinary heritage of Southwest Asia and North Africa, a region that includes countries like Lebanon, Morocco, Iran, and Egypt. Each bite was a tribute: beetroot with labneh, desert truffle, fresh peas, chickpeas, sunflower, onion, turnip, and even a touch of caviar. Bold flavors, deep roots, and elegant execution.

I’ve been watching this place since it was being renovated in December 2023. Finally found a chance to visit with my friend. We were served by Niles who was impeccable with his service. Always attentive and making sure everything was okay even though we were seated in the corner of the restaurant. We ordered Koobideh, cauliflower pickles, bread, kibbeh, lobster curry, milk punch, and cocktail of the week. The food was delicious beyond my expectations and we were completely satisfied with the number of dishes we ordered. The only things that I would prefer to be different were the cocktails, the fact that the bread wasn’t complimentary, and how hot it was in the restaurant with no AC. The cocktails tasted like juice and did not seem to contain much alcohol. However, these points would not stop me from going back for the rest of the menu. 2025: came back during Mtl a la table to try put their menu. We had a lovely experience and certainly an improvement from my last experience. We had the lovely server Sasha who kept us entertained all evening. The food was even better than I remembered. Their bread is probably my favourite thing (warm and smells like cinnamon). I will be back again to try their regular menu for sure.

I’m writing this review later because I took my time to digest the event. I had eaten with my fiancé month before and it was an amazing experience. We decided to do our engagement party. Unfortunately they decided to accept a big event in the same time as our engagement party. Everything was delayed. They didn’t let us in to decorate in advance as we agreed. We got in so much later than expected and the custom board we made was useless as we were let in super late , 30 minutes later. The food came in also late, we started eating at 9:30 and we finished eating at 11 when we were supposed to finish at 10. Most of my guest left because they didn’t want to wait. The food was extremely tiny and completely different . I was absolutely embarrassed. The essence and the taste was lost. Considering how expensive the food is , I will not be back. The wine was amazing but the food was disappointing. I didn’t even got to have my cake because I was so rushed down stairs. Unfortunately for the price I payed , we were disappointed . We won’t be back . Unfortunately we had a bad experience. We were so overwhelmed that we didn’t process everything.

Really great wine and cocktails, we tried the bread, the eggplant dip and the potatoes with halloumi, all were quite good but the potatoes were very greasy. I found the glasses of wine and cocktails to be pretty pricey though. The service, however, was very good but a little slow, especially on a quiet night. They stopped checking in on us after we had finished our food and second drink, we might have ordered more if asked but they seemed to be running around trying to deal with other patrons. That was okay, my friend and I mostly just needed a quiet and nice place to talk and catch up, so we didnt really mind. The restaurant itself is quite nice and warmly decorated, but a bit of an overall weird layout.

We visited this restaurant on Valentine's Day and had a delicious set course meal. I really liked the vibe of the place. The pasta with harissa sauce and calamari was amazing, and our appetizer was great too. I’ll definitely be coming back!
