Find the Best Liquor Stores in Minneapolis and St. Paul | Eater Twin Cities

"A boutique wine shop in the Near North neighborhood, Henry and Son also offers a small liquor selection curated for quality. Focusing primarily on natural wine, the shop also features unique imported options for ciders, vermouth and sherry — often one of the first categories bartenders look to when building a drink. The staff is highly knowledgeable and passionate about environmentally conscious wines and spirits made by small producers, not corporations. Everything in this store is selected to the tone of a sommelier’s discriminating taste. Curbside pickup and delivery are available by phone." - Eben Stine

Great wine and beer selection. Wine tasting on Thursday 5 - 7 PM.

Love this place! The employees are always so enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Whenever I’m in the state I stop by for several bottles that I know are going to be unique and enjoyable. Both staff members were quick with a sample and very attentive when we stopped in today, they are the reason this place is so great!

This is a fantastic Bryn Mawr wine shop with very great host and a non intimidating atmosphere. They specialize and hard-to-find wines or unusual selections. They often host wine tastings where you can meet the producer or grower and ask questions. I really like places like this where if you want to learn more there are no barriers to doing so. It also has a very nice social vibe / component that I really enjoy. Definitely check them out on social media to find out when they host their events

They certainly know what they're doing and it shows. The staff have always been knowledgeable and helpful. Almost every bottle in the store has its own helpful little handwritten tale of backgrounds and flavors to expect from that individual wine. They have a unique selection of natural wines, a wine club you can join, and wine tastings. What more could you ask for from a wine shop?

Staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. They can help you find the perfect wine for any occasion.

A couple weeks ago was my first visit and I will be a lifelong customer at this shop. There was no judgement, instead excitement to find me the right wine when I told them I was on a budget. The two women working that day were not only helpful and kind, but incredibly knowledgeable. You can tell this business cares about their customers, community, and product. The interaction I had here truly made my night….along with the wine;) Thank you for creating such a welcoming atmosphere!

My favorite bottle shop. Love the selections and their friendly and knowledgeable staff. Join the wine club and try all kinds of new things!

Google
Excellent service, great selection, awesome staff. It can be difficult to find niche wines that are quality and reasonably priced - five stars on both accounts! They also have a great selection of beers and ciders. Make sure to be added to their email list, they also hold fun events that are a must attend.

Yelp
A beautiful shop with an impressive selection, however, significantly more expensive than France 44. Grabbed a bottle I am familiar with and was taken aback when it rang up more than $10 above the price point I am used to.

Yelp
What a wonderful shop! A curated selection of wonderful wines and liquors; everyone will find something they like. I've visited multiple times and I've LOVED every wine I've had! On top of that the staff is extremely friendly and have great recommendations. Go local and support this amazing shop!

Yelp
Small shop with a fantastically unique selection! I attended a Small Lot/Alliance Francaise Beaujolais wine session hosted by Henry and Sons, and it was really wonderful. The idea to hold the class in the store really helped with buying selection. The staff is already very knowledgable, but the combo event was brilliant. Delicious wine samples were available, and the selection is excitingly different from the standard big stores. A few seriously unique items here, and prices were on-par per region. More importantly, there is a price and selection range to fit all needs. Everyone can leave happy while also trying something new! I'm excited to stop by and puruse again soon!

Yelp
I don't even drink and I think this place is awesome. 1. They stock Fentimans Rose Lemonade in their fridges, which is delicious and a huge perk for those of us who don't drink, but want to play along. 2. It smells clean in there. Most liquor stores smell like frat house basement. The contrast is real, and makes the experience of shopping for booze feel completely different. 3. Curated selection of mixers, beers, and wines- plus sherry! And vermouth! And some super cool local gins and whiskeys! 4. Great staff. The woman running the place last night definitely knows her craft, and found an open bottle of the bitters I was curious about in the back to let me try it for myself. High fives, team.

Yelp
This is the best liquor store in the Twin Cities. They specialize in natural wine, local beer, and a thoughtfully curated selection of what you should have in your liquor cabinet. The staff is passionate, knowledgeable, and approachable. They are dealing with the pandemic responsibly. They have improved the selection visible on their website, which makes the online shopping enjoyable in the way the store visits used to be, but with more to read. It is a distinctly feminist, intellectual, and personal approach to wine, beer and cocktails. I learn new things from the professional staff. By feminist, I mean that they are open and informative in their knowledge of products, instead of feeling there is a barrier to entry. They have mostly women on staff, which feels more welcoming and distinguishes them from others. I'd love to see more POCI staff, which would continue to provide new perspectives and insights. They went out of their way to help me access wines and cider I found in France through their excellent relationships with the best importers. Jill has some fun podcasts and videos available to learn more about their products and producers. They have a well-written and informative newsletter that could eclipse Kermit Lynch. I cannot say enough good things about this place. It is the liquor store I hoped would exist in the Twin Cities for many years, and keeps getting better.

Yelp
Needed to pick up something last minute and this was on the way. Didn't really expect much, but once we walked in...pretty impressed. It is nice and open. Very clean. Warehouse feel without being crazy warehouse-y, if that makes any sense. It has tall ceilings with glass all around for that industrial-feel. I think that's more what I mean. There was one person working, but she was pretty awesome and was even doing a tasting at the time. They have a ton of local craft beers for sale in the refrigerators in the back, but they mostly sell wine. It's cool little shop with a definitely hipster feel.

Yelp
I love this place! Really stunning selection, and kind, knowledgeable service. Looking forward to tastings here and stopping by again.

Yelp
Closest liquor store to Bryn Mawr. But this ain't any ol' liquor store. Henry & Son specializes in craft made wines and beers, and some spirits as well. As a result, you'll find stuff here that you probably won't find anywhere else in the Twin Cities. It's a highly curated selection. They have tastings every Thursday night. The prices tend to be higher than average, but you're getting something more unique. And they DO have the 12-under-12 section (12 selections of wine under $12). And they DO have delicious box wine from France that works out to be less than $10 a bottle, and is VERY drinkable. It feels good to shop there, supporting locally-based, independent stores.

Yelp
Great addition to the neighborhood! I think they have a free wine tasting every Thursday 4-6?

Yelp
What sets this place apart is the obviously careful selection of wines and the knowledgeable staff who purvey them. You won't find any of the standard brands but, if you have the same experience I've had, you will chance upon some tasty unknowns. They also happen to occupy a cool spot right near downtown, making their Thursday wine tastings a worthwhile stop on your way home from work. They carry a limited selection of local beers too.

Yelp
My husband and I have purchased several bottles of wine at Henry & Son since they opened, and all have been excellent. The shop space is beautiful, and we even attended a wine tasting with Bill Summerville last weekend - educational and delicious! The prices are reasonable, the volume of bottles to choose from is not overwhelming and the staff is super friendly.
