We passed by Henry's Restaurant last night on our way to our resort and saw that the parking lot was full of cars. This is usually a good sign. We decided to give them a try and we were not disappointed. The service and food were excellent! The place was packed with satisfied patrons. Give this place a try!

This place was a little above average to me. My pork chops were really thin. Tasted good but threw me for a second. My wife's catfish had a bit of a fishy taste to her. Just a personal preference with her. She eats a lot of catfish so it's hard to get it right for her. Lol Mozzarella sticks were good. Salad was fine.

First visit and we will be back. Vivian was our personable and very attentive server. Excellent seafood menu with multiple fried and broiled options. Great desserts, many made in-house. Ample parking, separate carry-out entrance. Gift shop at the exit with typical shirts and souvenirs, but also many very nice craft and specialty items. Broiled Local's Platter had shrimp, scallops, crab cake and choice of flounder or trout. The hush puppies were amazing and a must for every order.

Henry’s is an amazing restaurant! We’ve visited for both breakfast and dinner and have had great experiences with the service, food and atmosphere. Henry’s has generous portion sizes and some great seafood, so you’re getting a great value for what you get also. They also have some great gluten free options to accommodate the adult and child celiac in my group. Then as a bonus, the staff here are unmatched and so kind and helpful. I lost a pair of sunglasses while at my booth and the staff located them after closing and called me upon finding them and I was so happy to get them back, and really appreciated them going above and beyond to help me find them. Thank you so much and we’ll definitely be back, my dad lives locally so I told him to be sure to come back here a lot!

Google
Had Henry’s this morning while visiting Kitty Hawk. I tried the Nor’easter which I would describe as biscuits and gravy wearing a party outfit. I thought it was a perfect blend of flavors and while it easily could have been over-salted it wasn’t. I expect this meal will keep me full for most of the day! My fiancé enjoyed the Mexican Omelette. While I was only in for pickup the lady working the counter was so sweet and made sure I had everything I needed before I left. Thanks Henry’s!

Google
We visited Henry's for the first time today and it did not disappoint! The avocado toast was enjoyable as was the Noreaster (biscuit with home fries, cheese, bacon, two eggs covered with sausage gravy). Substantial portions at reasonable prices! Our service was great. We will go back!

Google
Great breakfast, brunch, and lunch place. Had a party of 7 and wait wasn't bad. Had the crab Benedict and it was really good! Sorry ate half of it before taking a picture!

Google
I would recommend giving Henry's a try if you are out visiting the Outer Banks. We enjoyed our meal but would say the seafood was average at best. The atmosphere wasn't above average at all, just your typical seafood restaurant decor. Our waitress, Vivian I believe was her name was very attentive and very kind. They have a small store where you can purchase nearly anything with the restaurants name on it which really excited my son as his name is Henry. Stop by and check them out!

Yelp
Solid breakfast location with all the usual breakfast options and a friendly staff. The only negative is that the decor is dated and definitely rundown. I had the corned beef hash omelet with spinach added to get some veggies in. It can with choices...mine were cheese grits and pancakes. Everything was awesome. My husband had the western omelet with toast and potatoes. I won on th4 food front. I really liked the pancakes and could have made a meal out of them. Unfortunately I was stuffed and had lots of leftovers, but my husband was able to taste everything and he enjoyed it all.

Yelp
Delicious, friendly, and the perfect greasy spoon diner dive. We went for breakfast and got there just at the right time. We were there by 8:15 and waited about two minutes for a table. 10 minutes later, a 30 minute wait. I had the Nor Easter meal and it was so good. They know how to make sausage gravy that made me feel I was back at grandmas house. Yummy! Victoria took care of us and she was on point and made the local diner the perfect greasy spoon diner.
google avatar

Judy B.

Yelp
Service QUICK!, crab omelet yummy, hubby loved the turkey? Sausage. Poached eggs perfection, biscuits are LARGE for the abundant gravy.. Must have breakfast place
google avatar

Jessica R.

Yelp
The staff was really nice. Cute decor on the walls that you could buy. I had a ribeye and it was good. My husband loved his fish. I would definitely come back.

Yelp
Finally was able to get in. Summertime you can't even find a parking space for this place went today, December 4 25 waitress staff was very friendly. Food was good came to table very quick and it was nice and quiet inside.

Yelp
I was very pleased with my Dinner! The seafood platter was delicious and tasted very fresh. Our waitress was awesome and very attentive. The prices were very reasonable when compared to most other restaurants in the area.

Yelp
I've lived on the OBX my whole life. Henry's has been a constant and reliable breakfast spot. They always have great food and good service. They just recently got Gluten Free bread which is nice. I got an Omelet which was delicious and my son got the French Toast. The portion sizes are big and very fulfilling. Inside the restaurant there is plenty of seating and a cute little gift shop which is where you pay. If you ever come down to the OBX be sure to check them out.

Yelp
This was a good stop for the option of either breakfast or lunch at 11:30am. We ended up with eggs Benedict that were tasty. Home fries were good. This is a great place for basic food and good service. The seafood pick-your-own platters was also a win. Got my seafood variety with an alternative to fried for a change. Simple and yummy! Worth the wait outside on a Saturday morning.

Yelp
Had breakfast here while visiting the area and had a great time! Service was very friendly and the food was very good. Portion was great for the price and the flavor was good. Table was a little sticky but otherwise no complaints.

Yelp
Probably never would have known about Henry's had it not been mentioned to us as a place to check out for down home, comfort food cooking. We went for dinner but this place also serves breakfast and lunch and is open all year round. We're told it's a local favorite, not just for tourists and visitors. When we went, busy season had just ended so we breezed right in around dinner time and were seated immediately. My kinda way to have a meal out. ;) The place is right off Croatan Hwy so conveniently accessible in KDH not far from the turnoff to Ocean Blvd. The inside is pretty basic but saying that isn't meant to be a dig. We liked the homey, cozy feel of the interior and the decor. Very clean, neat and well kept up. Sort of like you've arrived at your favorite Aunt's house. But beware, Henry's is a pretty small place inside. Decent amount of seating (see my and others' pics of the interior) but it's really just one big dining area. I'm guessing during the busy season you're bound to experience a wait - but then again, where won't you experience a wait during the high season?? So if you're lucky enough to be in the OBX looking for a place for a decent home cooked meal out in the off season, highly recommend Henry's. This is where I'd come. The staff and our server were super friendly - you could tell the staff all get along and enjoy each others' company and have been there a while. No hesitation from our server when we asked what Henry's specialties are - she told us all the seafood (except the coconut shrimp) is fresh caught local (great to know!), the fried pork chops are popular as are their hush puppies that came with both our entree platters and I'm guessing comes with all their entrees (so good and nice to get to sample them without having to order a side of them!). The menu is a BEAST. They've got something for everyone (including a kid's menu). Apps, surf, turf, chicken, soups (apparently the she crab soup is also a specialty), sandwiches, salads and desserts. All categories of food. For dinner, there's a long list of shareable apps - we ordered the fried pickles that came out golden brown, piping hot and piled high on the plate with a side of ranch dressing for dipping. They have a ton of seafood options including an all-you-can-eat option. Not as "fancy" as Captain George's seafood buffet but also not as $$$ and not as touristy and more of a menu variety than Jimmy's seafood buffet in a nicer setting. Prices are decent. I mean yes you're in a tourist beach town but it's also just as much a local joint so they're mindful that locals need a place to eat out without draining their wallets. Pay in the gift shop at the other end of the restaurant - a la Cracker Barrel style. The gift shop is actually pretty cool. Lots of beachy knick knacks as well as Henry's logo'ed t-shirts and apparel. Try Henry's. There's a good chance you'll like it.

Yelp
This one was a couple of months back. Henry's is almost always our stop on the way home from vacation. The decor is beachy and comfortable. They can handle large groups and the service is efficient and friendly. The food is tasty and filling. We appreciate our visits here. They have a nice gift shop as well. Check them out!

Yelp
Ate lunch as we were too late for breakfast (past 1pm). I had the Crab-cake platter with cole slaw and potato salad. Absolutely delicious. Husband ordered Club Sandwich with a fruit bowl (which is strawberries with whipped cream on the side.) Daughter ordered a grilled cheese sandwich that came with fries. Both were good. Husband was still hungry after finishing his sandwich. The women's bathroom was nice and clean. The men's bathroom door was wide open and I'm not sure if the door was off it's hinge. Waitress was pleasant and helpful with any menu questions.

Yelp
This place is not highly publicized or talked about amongst all the people I know and others who go to OBX but wow! We looked for a breakfast spot on July 4th and the others that are highly publicized were closed. My daughter found Henry's so we passed by to see if it was open, Bam! It was! There was a line waiting, so we put our name on the list and went back to the truck to wait. Within 5 minutes we were texted that our table was ready! Holy crap that was fast! I ordered biscuits and gravy and the girls both ordered chicken and waffles. They were all great! I suggest ordering two eggs over easy. The ambiance was spaced out with benches and tables on the perimeter and large party seating in the middle. They have pictures on the wall and a gift shop where you go to pay after your meal. It was great! Everyone of the staff members we had a pleasure meeting were so polite and helpful. I'll be going back for sure. BTW. They have breakfast until 1pm and after that, they have lunch and dinner. Give it a try

Yelp
This gem never disappoints for breakfast. Kudos to the management that hires enough staff to cook and serve up a hot breakfast in just minutes. And they do it with a smile.

Harry S.

Yelp
Love the breakfast !! Always busy place but worth the wait . We always get breakfast when we come to the outer banks .

Gary R.

Yelp
Service was fine, most of the meal was fine, but do NOT order the prime rib. Mine was more than half fat and gristle (see photo). The kitchen said they're all like that - really? I know prime rib/ribeye does have a good portion of fat but this is just way too much. Will not be back.

Yelp
This is being as gracious as I can be. I have to say that I was looking forward to going to Henry's. It had been a place I had frequented numerous times over the years. I honestly have no clue what has happened. Anyone can do a good breakfast...never had their breakfast. This is a review for dinner. If you're a tourist, maybe this place would be mid. It was my birthday weekend. My nephew's pre birthday weekend as well. Our waitress was okay. But I am glad we did not have the one that was basically a greeter. The whole restaurant could hear everything she was saying. Even when her father and his girlfriend showed up... we all knew who they were. Nothing quiet about her. I wished we had the older waitress. She was personable. Knew some of the regulars. Just plain friendly. I asked our waitress what she would recommend. Should have known better. She looked about half scared and about 12. So...I went with the large order of prime rib. Let me say this...as someone who has eaten alot of prime rib, even made prime rib...this is NOT PRIME RIB! It is an over marinated, economy rib eye. Prime rib is a rib roast...roasted whole. This steak was ..texture wise, cooked by the marinade. Then it was au jus'd with a grainy, packaged au jus. It was so damn salty. I ordered mash with gravy and beets. The mashed potatoes were not done. Raw potato in every bite. This is just my meal. I showed our waitress all the gristle from this faux prime rib. I told her that it is inedible. HALF OF THIS STEAK! No offer to give a discount or anything. This is the second "local" restaurant to have such crap, expensive food and do nothing to satisfy the customer. I wasn't going to make a scene. I shouldn't have to show my ass in order to have a good meal. This is a continuing theme, everywhere. If I can make it better at home, why go out to eat?

Yelp
5/5! After a nice night out in OBX, our group needed to get some breakfast in us before the day started. We stumbled upon Henry's Restaurant, so we gave it a try. The Food: I went with the "Steak and Eggs" for my meal. I was looking for a big meal, and this did the trick. The steak was cooked nicely, although a little thin, it was tender and delicious. The eggs and hash browns were cooked to my liking as well. It comes with two pancakes as well, and that was good. The Service: Service was great! came in on a busy morning so we put our names down and waited to be called outside. The staff were very friendly and attentive with our group, so that was nice. The Atmosphere: Plenty of seating inside. Nice and homey. Overall, a 5/5! The staff were friendly, the service was great, and the food was delicious. I'll be back for sure!

Yelp
Been going to Henry's for as long as I can remember. Service is always superb, food is delicious. Waits can get long for breakfast, but well worth the wait!
google avatar

Yelp
Food was great, we both ordered shrimp, service was excellent, I highly recommend this restaurant.
google avatar

Becca D.

Yelp
We absolutely love breakfast at Henry's. Everything is fresh, the coffee is always so good, and service is fast. The Captain with the pork chop, Crab Benedict, and every omelet I've ever had from here has always been amazing!
google avatar

Louis F.

Yelp
The fried flounder was OK, everything else kind of weak. The fries and jalapeño poppers were the kind out of a bag. Catsup, tartar sauce, the barbecue sauce came in little plastic to go ramikins. Who knows when those got filled up. They just weren't trying very hard, but it is North Carolina and maybe to the people around there that's good food. It was OK, I probably won't be back.
google avatar

MaryBeth S.

Yelp
The food was really amazing and the service was very friendly. It was like being on a little hometown restaurant with top quality seafood. We were there off season and it was nice that it was open. I also felt that the seafood was very good quality, but not crazily overpriced like some of the tourist places are.
google avatar

Annetjie M.

Yelp
Friendliest waitstaff around. Excellent service. Food was mediocre. Ordered the Captain with cornbeef hash. Cornbeef was greasy and way too salty. Baked apples did not have any sugar in it and was super tart. And what was that "biscuit"? It had corn meal in it, so was it really cornbread? Spend your breakfast dollars elsewhere.
google avatar

Kell M.

Yelp
This is my fave breakfast spot in North Carolina! The waitress was so sweet, the place is clean and the food is so yummy. I go here every year when I visit and always try something new. This time I had the chicken biscuit sandwich. They make the buttermilk biscuits and it's one of the best! The chicken was standard but the home fries were a standout, they have little onions mixed in. The coffee is also one of my faves! I wish I knew the blend they use. Cannot wait to go back next time.
google avatar

Madison P.

Yelp
Great spot for good southern breakfast food! Really cute atmosphere and friendly servers.

Michael L.

Yelp
I tried the chicken supreme (I think that's what it was called). It comes topped with a very good honey mustard. I should have asked for no mushrooms but that's my fault. it comes with 2 hush puppies and 2 sides. The service was good.
google avatar

Yelp
Buoy, oh buoy! Did we enjoy this place or what? There's a ton of eateries in OBX, especially for breakfast! But Henry's in Kitty Hawk is eggscellent!! I love the cozy, nautical theme, the touristy placard in the front where you can take a photo, the wide porch and welcoming atmosphere! And yes, I always pose with the wooden cutout as a crab, pelican or fish because I'm a total goofball!! Our booth was super comfy and our server, Saraí, was on her toes! Her attentiveness was amazing and we complimented her to the owner! The food was superb!! Absolutely huge, fluffy, biscuits, great, creamy grits, the bacon and eggs were perfect and we left feeling full and happy as a clam without spending a lot of clams! Don't forget to check out the little gift shop on the way out! Certainly my fav breakfast place on the strip!! Now I must go back and try their dinners!!!

Eric R.

Yelp
We went based on the 4.4 stars this restaurant has and I wanted a hamburger even thou were are at the beach. I know inflation is a killer and I thought how bad can a 11.99 hamburger be. Waitress was a bit grumpy as I guess it's the end of the season here. But she asked how I wanted it cooked. I'm shocked that I am asked and order it medium. You can guess that it was well done. Don't know why I was asked. Hard to steam a burger medium. Hamburger comes and it's one level above a McDonald's burger and two levels below a Burger King flame grilled. It's basically a shoneys burger. This whole place is basically a beach shoneys with beach prices. My wife ordered a single crab cake and fries and it was 18$. They have all you can eat fried stuff for 30$. That might have been a better deal. All the reviews are for breakfast also. I would not recommend for dinner. The lunch menu has the exact same burger with mushrooms and cheese and extras for same price as the plain dinner burger. I guess the mushrooms and cheese expire after 3pm.
google avatar

Allison K.

Yelp
Yum! I really enjoyed breakfast here. We got a lot of food for the money. The biscuits were good. They did fall apart a bit but they were big so that's not horrible given their size. Pancakes were phenomenal. HIGHLY recommend. Omelets were good, but home fries didn't have a lot of taste. I would have loved to have had onions or peppers in there, or some salt. Hostess was super nice, and I love the rocking chairs outside while you wait.
google avatar

Emma D.

Yelp
This place is very cozy and the service is great! My coffee and water cup were NEVER empty and they checked on our table just enough times as to not interrupt but still serve us and make sure we had what we needed. I ordered the steak (medium) and scrambled eggs with fried apples and wheat toast. The steak was absolutely delicious and done perfectly, the eggs were good but the fried apples were the best! The waitress made sure to ask me of my preferences for what type of toast/how I wanted my eggs and the order was correct and I didn't have to wait too long for all 6 of my tables orders to come out. Really love this place and will continue to visit and promote. (Forgot to take pictures the food was so good sorry.)
google avatar

Jeanne C.

Yelp
Excellent prices, service, food with pancakes out of this world! High recommendation!

Susan K.

Yelp
Service was excellent and food was fast and good! I am normally such a food snob but we just needed a place where there wasn't a wait for my starving cranky 2.5 year old. He LOVED the fish and chips. Servers were great with him. We embraced the classic fried seafood of NC and enjoyed some great fried oysters, hush puppies and some delicious potato skins! My son ended up very happy there was a little gift shop for him to grab his new fave stuffee. It's not a hot spot but it is SOLID! Especially with impatient hungry kids! Lastly the prices are great!

Jason B.

Yelp
Probably the best breakfast I've had in the OBX. Fresh, hot and fast! Highly recommend.
google avatar

Jenn K.

Yelp
Went here for breakfast while on vacation. Fast, friendly seating and service. Really good breakfast, and reasonably priced. Fantastic coffee!! Was so good, we came back the next day. Will definitely be back next time we're in OBX and try their lunch as well.
google avatar

Nikki G.

Yelp
My mom and I stopped here on our way home because this place had been on her radar since we arrived. We had to wait 45 minutes to be seated for breakfast on a Saturday around 10am. We both got the fried trout with eggs. The trout had a great flavor, but I didn't appreciate finding tiny bones within it and it kind of ruined the breakfast. Everything was very good though, despite the bones. Also, because there were larger tables seated before us, we had to wait a very long time for our food to come. We were pretty hangry by the time it did come. This place would have been 4 stars, however, the bones in the trout and the long wait for the food because of larger tables coming before us was a downer.

Andrew B.

Yelp
One or the best places to get breakfast in Nags Head. Every time my wife and I are down there, we go there at least once for breakfast.

Carol M.

Yelp
My clam strips were small and overfried and hard Very easy order and pickup and nice people.

Andre C.

Yelp
This was a great breakfast experience. Food and service included. Definitely southern style breakfast good price and taste. The catfish was some of the best I ever had hit and seasoned just right. Grits eggs and hotcakes can't go wrong. Our server Christina was the best very warm friendly and funny. Will definitely return maybe for dinner. LOL
google avatar

Jason W.

Yelp
We were staying close to Henry's on our vacation. We stopped in for breakfast during the week after we saw all the people lined up outside. Figured it was a local gem and we were right. The food was excellent and the service was very friendly. We went back 2 more times after that. Great spot.
google avatar

Alyssa L.

Yelp
I can't even with this place! I mean that in the best way, if you want sweetness and delicious breakfast, go! The staff is wholesome and comforting. My steak and eggs are always on point, so hats off to the chefs. My grits are buttery and on point with that toast. Mimosas are yummy It's just chill, even if you have to wait for your table the whole place is go with the flow.
google avatar

Jeanne H.

Yelp
Always good and affordable! Service is excellent! Food is good ole fashioned southern cuisine. Nothing fancy but you won't go away hungry.

Kendoll C.

Yelp
In my first review I said, "we really want to check out a number of places to eat in the area, but it's so hard when we started with Henry's and they set the bar so high!" and I guess I meant it, because when we went to select lunch the next day none of the other menus we checked out sized up to the appeal of ordering from Henry's again. We figured we knew the quality was amazing, the prices couldn't be beat, and the staff were super friendly during our pick up experience. This time, we ordered the three meat seafood platters to go, selecting: fried scallops (my hubby the clam strips), fried oysters, a soft shell crab with coleslaw & extra hushpuppies Again, both were very yummy meals, with large portions, leaving us stuffed! Again, the fried platter had great flavors without being overly greasy. The soft shell crab was quite large, perfectly breaded, a very meaty crab. The scallops were buttery, with a nice crisp on the breading that didn't take away from the melt in your mouth cook on the scallops. The oysters were super large. The slaw had a really good flavor, not too heavy on the mayo, and these are the best hushpuppies in OBX (crispy, moist, dense flavor inside). Overall, I would highly recommend this place for lunch! The prices can't be beat- the food was amazing-the quality and quantity spot-on!

Gianna M.

Yelp
My friend and I ate here while in town for our best friends engagement. The food and service were fantastic! Our waitress was very kind and attentive. Affordable and big portion sizes. I ordered coffee and a veggie omelette. My friend ordered a cheese omelette ($23 total). We will definitely be coming back!
google avatar

Theresa L.

Yelp
Great service! Loved my soft shell platter. Perfectly done. My husband enjoyed his club Sammy. The fries are delightful! Yummm!!
google avatar

Elisa G.

Yelp
I'm a lurker who only posts when something is really good or really bad...and let me tell you that this place was spectacular! The decor was fun, the service was friendly and super quick, the price was fair, and the food was AMAZING. I had the crab Benedict, and the crab meat was so fresh. My wife is basically a carnivore and said the sausage was one of the best she'd ever had. And she's not dramatic (like I can sometimes be, but I digress). It was the perfect stop on our way from Corolla to the Bodie Island lighthouse!

J J.

Yelp
We love Henry's ! Love the atmosphere. Great basic home style cooking. Love that they have omelettes until lunchtime. They even have some gluten-free options with gf bread, which is a win for me! The waitresses are always friendly and welcoming as well as the owner. Most of the time they even know your name, and treat you like family. Love the gift shop , and the owner does a great job of picking out cute items. Looking forward to going back in the fall. Thank you, Henry's

Robin H.

Yelp
Andrea B is the best. Great service and always looking out for anything g we needed. This is one of my favs in the OBX. All you can eat real catfish, not the e dreaded Swai for $30 year round. I love it and will be back as long as they do it. Thank you Henry's and Andrea once again.

Casey C.

Yelp
The food is sooo good im in waffles and chicken heaven. I would come back here again. The service was good
