"The beloved chain of 24-hour diners suddenly closed all of its Oregon locations on October 20. Deb Melina, a manager at the Shari’s on Northeast Airport Way in Portland, told KGW the location has been in “hospice” for the last few months, and a telling Yelp review of a Eugene-area location noted the restaurant was out of pie. The closure leaves a gap in Oregon’s late-night dining scene, especially in smaller communities where few around-the-clock restaurants exist." - Rebecca Roland

I haven't been to Henry's Tavern for ages. I am not sure if the one in the Pearl is still open. We decided to have a snack before our flight (airport location). The place had a good amount of people dining. We ordered the recommended margarita from the waitress and also some food. We got the cheese curds, chicken strips with gargonzola fries, and a grilled chicken club sandwich to share. The cheese curds were the best out of the items we ordered in my opinion. Who doesn't like fried cheese?

Right as you walk in the service was impeccable! Greeted with a warm welcome and a smile! We started off with the guava margaritas and they were to die for! I highly recommend! Definitely try their spinach artichoke dip and the fish and chips. Ryan and Natana were amazing at the bar ensuring we got our drinks in a timely manner and added to the already tremendous atmosphere.

Wow, toasting a bun and seasoning the meat—such groundbreaking concepts, right? I mean, who knew that a warm, toasty bun could actually improve a burger? But hey, why bother when you can just slap a cold, lifeless bun onto an overpriced patty and call it a day? And the cherry on top? A server who clearly has better places to be. Truly an unforgettable dining experience. Please don’t ask me to visit a website I already took time out of my day to let you know about my disappointment.

Henry's gets extremely busy, but the wait staff is good about monitoring the dining area and getting tables cleaned quickly. They have a nice selection of food and drinks, with the cocktails being a few dollars cheaper than Deschutes. The service was attentive even with how busy they were. We ordered the Cobb salad, turkey club and tempura cheese curds. The Cobb had fresh ingredients but was smaller than most Cobbs, it's served with two dressing that were complimentary to each other. The cheese curds were really good, with a crispy tempura batter and included pickled peppers and a pepper jelly in the side. Another sauce option would be nice but overall it's a solid dish that I would look forward to ordering again. The big miss was the sandwich, which was extremely dry and had very little meat. We would come back here again but skip the sandwich.

I ordered seasonal vegetable omelet made with fresh eggs, mozzarella, potatoes, avocado and toast. It is always nice to have something hot and freshly made in the morning. Omelet tasted good with lot of onions, red and green peppers and cheese in it. Topping with salsa source kinds of balancing the rich flavor from cheese. However, the waitress just never made eye contact so I was sitting there for 10 minutes just waiting to order. Then it took another 10 minutes for my breakfast to be ready. It was not that I am in a hurry, but it seemed like they are kind of under staff or what? It will be better if I don’t need to wait for so long.

Google
Henry’s Tavern is a nice go-to bar at PDX. The service is fast, attentive, and they work to get you what you need and catch your flight. I’ve been coming here for years and when I want to sit a little bit and enjoy a beer and a meal, Henry’s is my typical hangout spot for fast and good food and a friendly waitstaff.

Food came out in under 30 minutes, fresh ingredients & hot! Seasonal pineapple jalapeno margarita was beautifully balanced, and not too strong. Grilled chicken in the ceasar salad was great, as well as the house specialty fries. My waitress was Sarah and she was so sweet. 10/10 on food, drinks, and atmosphere.

Google
The Calamari and Margarita with quick service was essential on a quick layover at PDX Portland Airport. Totally recommend ✨️ Thank you!

Yelp
I flew into Portland today just for a few hours to pick up our family's new puppy. Henry's Tavern seemed like the best sit down option for us. Had a bowl of chilli and a Caesar. For food, service and ambiance this was such a great option. I was greeted immediately by this sweet man Caleb who quickly got us seated. Our waitress Amber was just the cutest little thing! Never needed to ask for a thing. Regarding ambiance, I think people sometimes have preconceived notions about what crates ambience. Henry's Tavern feels like your neighborhood spot. You feel at home while on your way home (or wherever you're off to). You can relax while scrolling your phone or pick up a conversation with your dining neighbors. Thanks for a great experience!

Yelp
Food was good. Service was pretty fast. BUT!! Another restaurant trying to be cheap and selling soups but no crackers!!! If you sell cheese soup and chili then you need to have crackers. At $9 a cup it seems like the profit margin is ok.

Yelp
An airport burger joint is exactly what me and my girls needed after a long day of traveling. These burgers and fries hit every point we needed and wanted! They were juicy, flavourful, and perfectly portioned. The service was quick and friendly which in an airport doesn't always apply.... My only negative was three burgers and a beer was expensive, but again it's an airport restaurant.

Yelp
I walked in and the bartender immediately came to me. I gave him my order of a Bloody Mary...it looks delicious on the menu. They made that Bloody Mary so fast it was amazing. I was impressed, it tasted so good. It had that spicy but not to spicy effect. Just right, I guess. I then order my French toast and let me tell you....that was delicious. Thank you and I hope this review does you well. peace out humans.

Yelp
Always a great place to stop, if you have time, always packed (a good sign) so take that into consideration, we have always got our food quickly even in a full house.

Mike V.

Yelp
Can't deny it, Henry's Tavern sets a comfortable bar when it comes to an airport sit-down eatery...and yes, bar. Fabulous, friendly service (thank you Whitney) that laughs at your "just got off a morning flight terribly timed jokes", great pacific northwest views, clean and well-spaced tables and two-tops, and delicious, clearly-just-made food and snacks. A+ seasonal pineapple jalapeño margarita, calamari and that freshly made in-house brownie sundae... omfg... sorry for the sugar high on the next flight seat 4B, so very sorry

Yelp
While waiting for our flight, I was trying to find a place to eat. There's not much to choose from in the airport. I was craving a burger so I decided to stop in at Henry's Tavern. I haven't stepped foot into Henry's Tavern since they close the downtown Portland location. The restaurant was so busy, as it always is when I am traveling. Pretty much all the tables were full, I saw a waitress wiping down an empty table. We waited about 10 mins before we were seated, which wasn't bad considering how busy they were. Ordered a couple drinks while we waited for the food. The drinks were okay, nothing special. My exotic mojito tasted so sweet, like nothing but juice. Ordered a chicken club and a side order of the Gorgonzola fries. These fries were pretty much the reason I used to go to Henry's Tavern before they closed down in Portland. The chicken club was a little disappointing and very underwhelming. The chicken on the sandwich was so thin and so skimpy, and the sandwich lacked flavor. It was such a tiny piece of chicken that the sandwich was basically all veggies. The Gorgonzola fries were almost as good as I remember! Lots of flavor with the perfect about of saltiness. Restaurant was clean, very busy and the waitress we had was nice and friendly. Checked on us once while we were eating. Got our food in a reasonable amount of time and fast enough to where I had time to eat and didn't feel rushed before my flight. Finished my food 20 mins before my flight.

Micheline C.

Yelp
Thank you for being open! Only place to get something hot and fresh inside the airport. Food and service is fantastic. Thanks Natana!

Jennifer L.

Yelp
This was one of the few restaurants open late by our gate. We were sat and helped right away. The server was great and she was fast. We ordered fries, hummus, and cheese curds. The cheese curds are tempura fried which makes them really light. The serving of fries was very small. We probably shouldn't have ordered them. The hummus was probably our favorite. It was flavorful and the serving size was pretty large.

Paul A.

Yelp
Nice spot for a beer and burger if you are flying Alaska. Large local beer menu with plenty of non-ipa beers Also some tasty cheese curds.

Robert K.

Yelp
My chicken Cobb salad was decent. Her beyond burgle was good. The service was great and the beers were really cold. The place was pretty packed. It seems to be the busiest restaurant in the entire airport. I will be sure to check this place out again when I am at the airport again.

Yelp
This was one of the only spots in the terminal that looked appealing so we gave it a try! Service was super quick and the beer selection was good! I ordered the Mac and cheese with bacon and it was insanely yum! The bacon was sprinkled on top and folded into the entire dish. We also ordered the BLT turkey sandwich with fries. They forgot to put the bacon and we had to call the waiter to get a side of it. The fries which were extra crispy and seasoned well!

Ed-man H.

Yelp
Great service, you sit where there is an open table and menu in the table. Probably best airport breakfast I've had ever. Omelette was fresh and hot, potato's, biscuit, as well.

Martin W.

Yelp
Portland still surprised me everyday. We went to Henrys before our flight to grab some bites. Usually we would head for a mod pizza or sandwich at potbellies. Never disappoints. But this time we wanted just relax and get some service. We did and we have been pleasantly surprised by a nice service but even better food. Now when you think of airport food you think of often fried something quickly made. And sure you get this here but with a nice twist. We had the tempura fried cheese curds and this would mostly be it on any other airport. But her me you get the curls and onion with peppers in tempura. Accompanied by a delicious pepper jelly. Then a wedge salad nothing surprising here just a fresh piece of a wedge easy to split between two. The main was a veggie burger which we opted for additional Gorgonzola fries. The burger bun was crispy and as ok as a white bread can be and the veggie & bean paddy very tasty and lightly crispy pan fried. Absolutely nothing to complain and again just to remind you we are talking about airport food! Great job guys.

Yelp
Henry's Tavern at PDX, the Bartender Ryan, would not wait on me, I had to ask for a water and a menu, the girl near me gave me her menu, waited 20 mins, he waited on men who sat at the bar after me. I'm a women, I finally got on my phone but put it down while trying to order 4 different times, The bartender ignored me. I finally asked other waiters in the restaurant if I could order from them, they said you should order from the bartender, finally with limited time before flight I only had time for soup and something to drink, I had to ask him a 5th time to please place an order. Finally he took my order?I've never experienced such a rude bartender in my life. (for no reason) I will never go back!

Yelp
My fiancée has Celiac disease and ordered a burger with a gluten free bun and fries with no seasoning. The waitress was very understanding and assured us they could accommodate my fiancée. We did not know until she had already eaten half of it, but my fiancée was served a burger with a regular bun and seasoned fries!! Something she can't digest!! The waitress seemed to be genuinely sorry and explained that the staff was still being trained. She had the order remade the correct way and checked in on us multiple times. However, the manager did next to nothing--she gave a basic apology and did not ask how my fiancée was doing. AND we were still charged for the rest of the meal. The least management could do was comp our meal since they served my fiancée food she CAN'T DIGEST. She has been in full-body pain for the past 3 days since this happened. PLEASE don't go to Henry's Tavern in PDX if you have any kind of allergy. The staff needs to be trained because this is a serious issue that could have been avoided. And management needs to take accountability for the serious issues that occur on their watch.

Yelp
Stopped by here to kill time while we wait for our ride and man were we so glad we did. Service was spectacular and the food is five stars. Gorgonzola waffle fries were to die for. Their ranch dressing is so good! Decent selection of alcohol. Best grub at PDX. Highly recommend.

Cookie J.

Yelp
PROS: chili is a little spicy but very good, service was great, ambiance, very nice, prices are reasonable too... no complaints CONS: none We also had the bbq bacon burger & fries, but ate it up and forgot to take pictures. Both were good.

Ty C.

Yelp
One of the best IPA beer. So refreshing. My girlfriend had a lemon drop and it was very good. Our sever Amber said it was good citrus drink and it did not disappoint. She was quick and so kind. Definitely recommend.

Elizabeth A. H.

Yelp
What made this place great was the refillable iced tea, pleasant servers, great people watching.

Steven E.

Yelp
Henry's is a terrific place to kick back on a layover. We've been to Portland International six times now and stopped at Henry's the last five. The Blue Moon ale fish & chips dish is wonderful. Only $20. The iceberg wedge is a nice addition for $9.50 Another addicting starter is the Gorgonzola Fries. As always, prices will be higher due to location. It is an airport. The staff are continuously friendly and the atmosphere is relaxing. It's a comfortable diversion from the long tedious wait of the final flight home. Thank-you, Henry's! 06/23

Yelp
On Monday morning I stopped here with my friend since we were hungry and needed to kill time before our flight. Our waitress as fantastic and was really nice! (I don't remember her name but I believe she had a ghost tattoo on the back of her arm and pride pins on her lanyard). Next time I go to pdx I'll make sure to stop by this restaurant again if I need to kill time with some drinks and some food and hopefully to get the same waitress.

Tawnia M.

Yelp
Flight was delayed so we stopped in to try. I ordered the chicken club with waffle fries and Manny's Pal Ale. The chicken club was alright, bread tasted a little saturated in butter but overall it was ok. The pal ale was the star! It was very good and light just enough to help me relax on the plane ride home. Service was friendly and fast. Atmosphere was chill with a nice selection of music.

Rose D.

Yelp
We tried them again while at the airport, this time for dinner, since our gate was nearby. The Hubs and I each ordered a different sandwich, and both were good. They only give you about a handful of fries, though, and considering the price, I would have liked more (but I guess the upside is this keeps me from eating too many unhealthy fries, right?). The food came out quick and our server was nice.

Caroline W.

Yelp
Quick service - good food! If you are at the Portland airport and need a good meal in a hurry, Henry's Tavern is a solid choice.

Mark T.

Yelp
Henry's is an actual restaurant/bar in Terminal C. The name has something to do with Weinhard brewing. It's probably just a loose association. The area has a faux brick taxpayer look but it's neat and clean. The staff is friendly and quick. The food is typical American fare, burgers, mac'n'cheese, etc. i wasn't super hungry so I ordered the hummus platter. The veggies were fresh and the hummus was good. If you're in C-terminal, it's worth a visit.

Sergio D.

Yelp
At 2:30 pm on 2/19/25, my wife and I attempted to have a meal at Henry's Tavern before our departure from PDX. Our child has autism and is a picky eater. We ordered our child a to go meal from another restaurant at the Terminal. Upon sitting down at the table, we were abruptly told by the waitress that we could not sit and eat at Henry's Tavern because it was against Oregon state law to have our autistic child eat another restaurants food at the table. She went so far as to say we could eat at a bench just out side of the restaurant, at which point we explained our child has autism and is a picky eater. I have been searching for an Oregon state law that prohibits outside food consumption at a restaurant but have not found any such law. Additionally my child successfully ate outside food at several restaurants throughout our 5 day Oregon trip without any issues like this. My wife and I ended up going to another restaurant at the PDX terminal, sitting down with our child, and having a meal together while they ate their to go meal. Horrible service at Henry's Tavern. We will not revisit.

Brenda Q.

Yelp
Not even sure how to rate because what started as a good experience was turned into a very off-putting experience. We ended up having an extended wait for our flight home from PDX. We were greeted nicely, started with a couple beers and appetizer, ordered 2 more beers and a Cobb salad from our new waitress. Everything tasted excellent and service was great...until a server (not ours) named Nate came up and told us we needed to move our bags because they needed the table. The whole back side of where we were sitting was empty as well as bar height seats at the window. We complied and moved our carry-ons. No one ever sat at the table next to us. We paid our bill and on the way out I saw a female that was possibly the manager. I approached and waited for her to stop her conversation. I informed her of the situation and how put off we were and informed her that was why we were leaving. She proceeded to make excuses for "Nate" saying we'll when we are full, which was not the case, we may ask. I informed her that wasn't the case. I would recommend this location have the manager more involved to avoid this type of situation so she can know when her customers are treated so rudely and inappropriately. We definitely won't return on our next trip through PDX. Very distasteful.

Dianna M.

Yelp
Fabulous service (thank you Robert) and delicious food. I usually order a pre-boarding Bloody Mary (flight sedative), as I'm not a fan of flying. We've enjoyed the strawberry French and let me tell you; "it is really good!" Robert has been our bartender/server a couple of times and he is always personable, friendly and professional. Side note: it baffles me that some folks will have multiple experiences at a place but not write a review = Until they have a complaint. Be fair - post the pluses not just the minus's or don't bother reviewing at all...

C... D.

Yelp
Good service - really happy with the portion sizes for the calamari!!! ( crispy lightly battered deliciousness) the salad was also really fresh and well seasoned, the chili very meaty and tasty ) - drinks good too - pricing was average but not too bad- we'll be back next time thru PDX airport...

Nelson L.

Yelp
Solid choice for a bite to eat when on a layover. We got the brew house burger and turkey blat. Both we good. Service was ok but it was busy so understandable. Food came out in a timely manner. Plenty of seating. Pricey, but what airport food isn't?

Christine D.

Yelp
I always like eating at the airport when I get a chance. Even if you aren't going anywhere it's always a good time. In this case, we were coming back from a trip and hadn't checked any luggage so we went down the C concourse to Henry's. They've moved to the seat yourself model (maybe during slower times) so we sat in the bar. The service was prompt, efficient, and accurate. I got the Cobb salad and the YS got the Rueben sandwich. Both were tasty and arrived quickly. It was nice to hang out have some lunch, and reflect on our trip before heading home (especially since there was no food there-haha). I'll definitely stop back by when awaiting a flight.

Vic G.

Yelp
After a 10 hour flight I was very hungry. I walked around the airport looking at restaurants' menus; ultimately, it was Henry's Tavern's positive reviews that did it for me. I'm glad I picked it; I ordered the Grilled Chicken Club, I added onions to it. For the side, the options are fries or a salad, I ordered the side Caesar salad. Both items were great: the salad was fresh and the sandwich was well-portioned, fresh, and juicy. Above all, the server (Alberto) was excellent; I shared with him that I was craving something spicy and the Tabasco sauce was not doing it for me so he offered some of the cook's fresh salsa, it was very good! I will definitely come back if I'm ever back to the Portland airport.

Erich L.

Yelp
Good place for a drink or a meal at the airport. They have a lot of different beers on tap. Friendly service and what you would expect at an airport. They have a payment system where you can pay by smartphone using a QR code.

Sarah E.

Yelp
The food is amazing! I was surrounded by high stacked, flame grilled burgers that smelled divine-but I can't pass up a Rueben and I am so glad I didn't. The meat was tender but firm so it wasn't stringy or fatty like some corned beef can be. I paired it with the Promiscuous Blonde Ale from Heathen Brewery and I wish I can get both the beer and the Rueben regularly-but I live in Ca.

Chris F.

Yelp
Caitlyn took great care of us! Happy New Year and GO DUCKS! (2024 Rose Bowl OR v OSU)

Margaret M.

Yelp
If you are in need of a chill out spot while you're waiting for your flight then Henry's Tavern is the place for you. The chill vibes, delicious chicken tenders and a bountiful selection of beer makes the hours go by. The service is friendly and attentive! Could not recommend enough!

Nadine B.

Yelp
Wow, an airport bar with poor service. I can't even find a bartender. How is anyone going to make their plane on time? I sat at the bar 10 minutes before a bartender can up to me. I went and got my own menu. On the bright and AMAZING side: they have gluten-free breakfast sandwiches!! You have to ask for them, though; I don't think they advertise them. The bartender was nice enough when I found him.

Shantel S.

Yelp
Julie at Henry's Tavern is a true gem! Her friendly demeanor and exceptional service made my day. She is a daymaker and the reason we keep coming back. Her energy is infectious. Thank you, Julie!

Greg C.

Yelp
I wish I had gotten the waitress name. She was so kind and professional. Great place to eat and relax before a flight

Tara B.

Yelp
Best Bloody Mary's in an airport that I have yet to find! Service is always friendly and sizes are large.. aka totally split able between two people! Our go to pre flight from Gates B/C tradition. Note: yelp hours are wrong! They open at 4am, and they don't serve alcohol till 5am.

Ene R.

Yelp
Worst breakfast l ever had!!! I ordered the frenchtoast with sausage the toast was very mediocre as well as the sausages l could tell these are cheap sausages YET they charged like they are premium ones

Gretchen S.

Yelp
I was so happy this restaurant was literally right next to our gate when flying from Maui to Atlanta several weeks ago. We were seated and served promptly, and although relatively busy, our food came out very quickly also. The portions and quality of food here make you feel like you're actually getting your money's worth, which is not the case at most airport restaurants or shops. My mom and I had a short layover, so we decided to grab breakfast here. She ordered the ham and cheese omelet and hash brown with multigrain toast as her side and coffee to drink. I tried the biscuits and gravy with eggs, and it came with hash brown as my side. Everything was hot and fresh and tasted great! The server was very nice and attentive, bringing out a bunch of condiments without us even having to ask. When done, we didn't have to wait around for our check. She brought it out rapidly after confirming we didn't want anything else and we were on our way. Highly recommend this spot over grab and go items if you have the time between flights.

Caroline S.

Yelp
@alara - THAnK YOU so much for accommodating me and my kids ... I was so stressed traveling with my babies , and she was wonderful. She got me a table right away, got my food order to go , got the kids settled and taken care of fast even though it was busy. It's the little things that matter . I will always come back here because of the amazing customer service ... super great food , made things easier .

Lisa S.

Yelp
Ordered my breakfast without potatoes or toast and tried to sub an avocado for both. Response from kitchen: "chef does not do any substitutions." You're in the service business! It's not that hard to accommodate a guest's wishes. Never again. UPDATE: Management reached out and said this is not how they do business and it was probably a new server who did not know that it's okay to substitute. I appreciated the follow up and will give them another chance!

Jason V.

Yelp
Great place to stop in for a couple quick cocktails before boarding! We're not scared of flying, but a little buzz does help take the edge off and make the whole travel experience a bit more bearable. The efficiency of the operation here is to be commended; if only traditionally terrestrial restaurants could achieve this level of competence! Our server was extremely prompt and personable, as is hoped for (and expected) in a place where timeliness is critical. We didn't have all that much time before boarding (maybe 20 minutes?) and we were still able to have a quick drink, a friendly conversation, and check out without feeling rushed whatsoever. Cocktail prices are higher than expected, but you *are* in an airport, so that's to be expected. I don't fly as much these days as I used to; something I hope to correct in the future. However, I can see Henry's become my first and last stop to grab a quick bite or a drink, on the way to distant horizons. Five stars!

Dy Y.

Yelp
First off, our server, JoJo (Joann) was phenomenal! So pleasant, courteous and kind and she was just an amazing server. The place was busy but she never missed a beat. Seriously, best server EVER! Food was delicious! The wings were great! Nice touch with the blue cheese crumbles. The calamari was fantastic! The fried jalapeños were delicious and the bacon, jalapeño tartar sauce was the best thing I've ever ate! The Gorgonzola fries were amazing too! Great food, great service! Definitely above the typical airport place.
