16 Best Bars in Toronto | Condé Nast Traveler

"The cellar at Her Father's, a low-key neighborhood bar, stocks more than 100 types of cider, making it the top destination for cider-lovers in Toronto. While most bottles hail from Canada, there are also reliable crowd pleasers and unique varieties from around the world. The brunch, dinner, and snacks attract as many regulars as the ciders. Try the juniper-and-scallion lamb nuggets for dinner, or the smoked trout Benedict at brunch (which you can pair with a hot mulled cider)." - Todd Plummer

First time with my family.. appetizers were great, dishes awesome. Loved presentation, dressings and taste. Unfortunately seems like some staff didn't represent what this establishment is trying to represent - a community flair...some staff were lovely and inviting and sadly our server was not. For the price I prefer to eat were I feel welcome. Not sure if I will try again but food is certainly great.

Google
Very confused about the reviews for this place. Possibly just an off day in the kitchen, because majority of reviews are very good- but our experience was not. Service wasn’t bad, but wasn’t great either. Kind of felt rushed throughout our time there. All dishes we ordered had really great potential but the main ingredient was lacking flavour. The pork cutlet was our favorite- though the cutlet alone tasted like absolutely nothing. Portions are pretty small considering the price point. But cider flight was great! Probably wouldn’t come back for anything other than drinks.

I booked the back room at Her Father's Cider Bar for my birthday celebration and everything was absolutely amazing. The food, drink selection, ambiance, hospitality and overall experience- everything exceeded my expectations! I worked closely with their manager Josh to coordinate the timing, capacity, budget, food and dietary restrictions for my group. He was extremely flexible to work with and ensured that everyone in my group had a meal that they could eat (we had a couple vegetarians/vegans). Even though we only corresponded through email, he was extremely quick with getting back to me and answering all our my questions - no matter how big or small they were. Having him as a contact made me extremely comfortable and less stressed with the planning since he clearly knows his stuff when it comes to special events and planning! The server who helped take care of my group was extremely attentive while also easygoing and flexible. She was patient despite our group being so large and split into two, and I greatly appreciated her attention to detail when it came to catering to my vegan guests and latecomers. I had the chicken & waffles and it was the perfect size. Their apple butter and apple ketchup are both amazing and accompanied the food perfectly. I would love to come back to try other brunch items as everyone else's food looked really good as well! I also can't wait to visit again to try their dinner menu and I know for sure that this is going to be a lovely date night location going forward! Thank you everyone at Her Father's for your amazing hospitality and service!

Google
We ordered 3 different cider flights, the shishito peppers, ricotta stuffed squash, and crispy brussel sprouts. Everything was beautifully balanced in flavour. We weren’t sure about which ciders to order for our flights but our waiter was very helpful in helping us select based on our preferences.

Google
This is an amazing place. The food was delicious and the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about the ciders. I'm definitely coming back to try the rest of the menu. I'm not a vegetarian but the fried mushroom dish was the best vegetarian dish I've ever had. The apple ketchup was also very good.

Google
Had a really good experience here with a few friends. I love their wide selection of ciders and that they have flights! The staff was very knowledgeable when it came to our preferences which was nice. They were also able to accommodate us and moved us to the patio once there was a seat available. The food was good and came fairly quickly. Portions were okay for the price. Their fried chicken was crisp but it was a bit bland. We also ordered the mussels and confit yam fritters which were both pretty good. The orange and vanilla cake was super yummy! Would definitely come back again for the flights.

Google
Amazing experience. I made reservations for two and while we were super late, they were very accommodating. Service was lovely! Our waitress gave us free samples of cider and she was so candid with her recommendations, which I appreciated. (Try the Vanilla Spiced cider. It’s divine.) Food was surprisingly delicious. I say surprisingly because Her Father’s is so well known for their cider that people seldom talk about how flavourful and tasty their food is.

This past Saturday, we had the pleasure of dining at Her Father's Cider Bar & Kitchen, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. From the moment we arrived, the staff's warm hospitality was evident. Our server, Max, stood out with his incredible knowledge and helpfulness. He expertly guided us through the menu, making spot-on recommendations for both drinks and dishes. His suggestions truly enhanced our dining experience. The outdoor patio was another highlight. Perfectly situated away from street traffic, it offered a peaceful and pleasant dining environment. The tables were well-spaced, ensuring privacy and comfort, and the staff worked seamlessly together, providing impeccable service throughout our meal. Among the many delightful dishes we tried, the Applewood Smoked Arctic Char was my absolute favorite. This dish was nothing short of mouthwatering and left a lasting impression. The small plate menu is a fantastic concept, allowing diners to sample and share multiple dishes, making the meal even more enjoyable. Overall, our evening at Her Father's Cider Bar & Kitchen was thoroughly enjoyable. We are already looking forward to our next visit and highly recommend this gem to anyone looking for a wonderful dining experience. Mike & Diana

Yelp
Saying goodbye to a favorite restaurant before it closes. The service was as excellent as ever. The salmon was prepared in a standard way, but the rainbow Swiss chard on top was the highlight. However, the ingredients didn't come together as a cohesive dish. The chicken breast was topped with tomato and basil sauce, but it was slightly dry, so I didn't particularly enjoy it. The Crispy Brussels Sprouts was undoubtedly the most surprising and delightful dish of the night, thanks to the server's enthusiastic recommendation--he was absolutely wonderful. The caramelized maple aioli perfectly balanced out the natural bitterness of the Brussels sprouts, turning it into a unique feature of the dish. The vegetables were delightfully crispy, coated in sauce yet still maintaining their crunch. In terms of flavor and balance, it was executed to perfection. Although this lovely restaurant is closing, whenever I think back to my first winter in Canada, alongside the falling snow, I'll remember a restaurant full of surprises that always welcomed its loyal customers.

Yelp
I really enjoyed the food and service at this restaurant. While I was disappointed at the wine by the glass selection, I didn't feel it justified a markdown because it is primarily a cider bar. We had the halloumi which was perfectly fried with a creamy sauce accompanied. Well seasoned. The salmon, which was a huge fish, well balanced, cooked at the right temperature. The Tiger shrimp was bomb, bursting with flavors, but spicy, be careful. Brussel sprouts were a little dry, but cooked well and seasoned with Parmesan. The stuffed squash was lovely, not too salty or overcooked. I'm not the biggest fan of gnocchi but I liked their sweet savory approach. The restaurant is small and intimate. While they say it's sharing plates, the plates are rather large. This is a great location for parties of 4 or 5.

Yelp
I had brunch here with friends and would come back here again. This lovely restaurant is known for their ciders, however, I did not order any. Great for catch-ups with friends, dinners for all occasions, and even dates. Food: I had the chicken and waffles and the portion size was filling for me. Spread on the waffles was a house-made maple chili sauce. The dish was accompanied by a small herb salad containing fennel leaves or dill, and some mint leaves. I thought the flavour combination of all the components was innovative, you don't usually have herbs with chicken and waffles with a hint of chili heat. I got to taste some of the beef chorizo sausage hash, this dish had glazed potatoes that were real-good. They make their food from scratch, even their ketchup is house-made. Service/atmosphere: We dined in the back area that was able to seat 10+ people. The wait staff were very accommodating and offered to hang up our jackets. The interior decor gave off a rustic feel with the wooden accents.

Yelp
A cider bar! What a great idea. This place has a wonderful kitchen but also distinguishes itself with its expansive cider beverage selection. They've got more ciders than you thought existed. Pear cider, cherry cider, champagne cider, Thai cider, spicy cider, dessert ice cider, and um, just cider. I started with the Revel "good evening" cider and it was gorgeously sour, like a lime squeezed into a lemon wrapped in a tart apple. It was delicious. I would make it my summer drink if it was summer. Alas, next year. The food was fitting of a highly rated gastro pub. We started with the carrot and zucchini fritters, crispy on the outside and soft and tasty on the middle. The beet salad was fresh, with green apple and a chèvre dressing...more apt for the summer months, like the Revel. The scallops were done just right. And they were nice and big. Finally, the fried chicken karage style were delectable with a sweet heat and juicy dark meat pieces perfectly battered and fried. We had the quince tart to close and it was a strong choice. Butter-forward but not heavy due to the light pastry and subtle flavour of stewed quince, not too sweet. Finally, what a beautiful space and great service! So cosy but also sophisticated. They have a nice back room that would be good for a private party. Her Father's Cider Bar and Kitchen is where you will find your "cider soulmate" and your gastropub bliss.

Yelp
I teetered back and forth between 4 & 5 but really wish I could give it a 4.5. We ended up at Her Father's Cider Bar & Kitchen after finding out the place we were originally planning to have dinner had an hour-long wait. I'd walked past HF many times, but had never been in. The host quickly checked to see if they had space on the heated patio (our preference) and we got lucky! They explained they were having heater issues, but it was nothing a little tape couldn't solve and we were perfectly toasty all night! We ended up sharing a cider flight (a Niagara peach Chardonnay, a KW Thai ginger, and a spruce one I can't remember). All 3 were excellent!! The KW Thai ginger was unique and similar to kombucha so I loved it. For food, we ordered a few things to share. First was a salad with cucumber, tomato, a crab vinaigrette, feta, and roasted chickpeas. That was my favourite. The dressing was incredible. We also ordered the French fries which came with a chipotle aioli and a apple fennel ketchup. The fries were great but that ketchup was the real star! We also tried the fried chicken which was also good! Finally, the birria sliders which came with consommé for dipping. They were good but the consommé could have used a bit more. Service was good, but it really depended on who was stopping by. Some servers were a bit more friendly and attentive than others, but everyone was nice.

Yelp
Came here for brunch this summer and was pretty impressed all around. The space (indoors) is lovely, and the summer patio is a good size. The service was fantastic- we were a group of 8 and everything was went well Not a particularly heavy eater for breakfast/brunch, I opted for the mushroom toast with hummus and a fried egg on top. It was yummy - mushrooms were cooked well, hummus was nice and creamy. They do flights (beer, cider) but I didn't have any...this time. The bar seats looks like a perfect opportunity to try this out next time!

Yelp
Came in on a Wednesday evening and asked for outdoor seating for two. The place was not too crowded and we got a great spot. Waiter was friendly and informative, he helped us with deciding our order and letting us know if our order would be enough for the dinner. We ended up both ordering the iberico pork secreto. First of all I am a huge fan of pork jowl so this was A++ cut of meat imo. Tender, melts in the mouth, but not so fatty it would make me sick. Perfectly seared, still a little crispy on the outside. The serving was just like what the waiter described, so we were glad we also ordered salad. The dessert (clearly I have a bad habit of diving straight into the food without taking pictures) was mascarpone espresso Creme brûlée. Amazing. The Creme brûlée was slightly too sweet for my Asian palette, but the strawberry balsamic salsa topping really cut through the sweetness, perfect match. This is a really good spot for dates or special occasions; the price stops me from coming all the time though. I will definitely be coming back again in the future to try out some other dishes.

Yelp
I had never been to this place as I'm not really a cider drinker. I'm sure if you were it would be even better because they have such a great selection. I saw that they have flights of cider so it seems really neat that you get to try a variety of different ciders in one seating. I did eat a lot of the food though. My group shared the fish tacos that were very flavourful with just a little bit of heat. I got the arctic char as my main course. You can see from the photo it was beautifully presented with a lovely yellow bar blanc sauce, green beans, purple sweet potato. It was beautiful and delicious. We also shared their flourless chocolate cake which was delicious. It had a delicious caramel on it and it was a perfect treat to end off the night. Our server was also so lovely. She was knowledgable and sweet and funny.

Yelp
This was my second time coming to this cider bar and restaurant for brunch and I will keep coming back whenever I'm in Toronto. The food is delicious and it's really fun to order the flight of ciders. You can try something fruity, or sour, dry, or spicy if you're in the mood to be adventurous. The flight is fun because you get to compare them each side by side.   What I love about this place is not only is the cider good, but the food is amazing as well. I ordered the corned beef with eggs and potatoes. The corned beef was super tender and the potatoes were extra crunchy. Yum!
google avatar

Winnie T.

Yelp
We came here for drinks and weren't disappointed! This is the first place we've been to that had specialty draft cidars and seltzers. I would recommend doing a flight before getting a full drink to see which draft you enjoy most. 100% will be returning.

Yelp
I'm visiting from the west coast USA and I found this gem of a restaurant. Great food, service, drinks, and ambiance. A special thank you to my bartender William and server Raleigh for amazing service! I felt right at home.

Yelp
Full disclosure, I'm obsessed with this place. It's a total gem... charming, cozy and everything is so damn tasty. I would be there right now if I could. Staff is super friendly and helpful with the menu. Five stars for them alone. The cider flight is a great way (best way) to get started. I enjoyed everything I tried with the standout being Vanilla Spice for me. The server described it perfectly "... if apple pie and cream soda had a baby". And sold! I haven't eaten here yet so I can't speak to the food (I prefer my calories in liquid form these days) but I do want to try it soon. Smoked salmon benny, I'm looking at you. Crispy brussels, you too. Another fun tip, why not check out The Rock Store across the street while you're there. Crystals & cider? Yes please. Sign me up for that any day of the week that ends in a "y".

Yelp
We were looking for a nice patio on Harbord, came to this place. It started raining and we went inside. The inside is actually pretty nice. Got some drinks and a salad. The Caesar was really good. We didn't get to try any food because our waiter didn't bother to come see us at all, actually we had to go get him to order drinks even though the restaurant wasn't busy at all. He told us the kitchen will be closed in five minutes because they were transitioning between brunch and dinner. When we were leaving, a much nicer waitress told us that wasn't the case and we could've ordered. So yeah, the service wasn't good at all. I would give it another try but make sure to stay away from the young guy who looked bored and annoyed as if we were bothering him by just being there‍

Yelp
Big chef's kiss!! Was here for a weeknight dinner and it couldn't have gone any better. The flight of cider was tasty, but the food was even better! For a reasonable price these days you're getting amazing food. I can't stop thinking about the brussels sprouts.. mmuuuuahhhh.. I don't even love brussels sprouts, but dammit I can't stop thinking of them. Service was fantastic. It's a small place, so I'd recommend making a reservation a head of time.

Yelp
Well, after bookmarking this place for 2 years, I finally got a chance to come check it out for brunch. Outside it doesn't look like much but inside, it had a nice vibe and was cozy and intimate. We got the Flight of three 4 oz sampler ciders $14, the Dad's breakfast, and the Shashuka. Also got the fresh pressed apple cider which was sweet and delicious, and the lemonade which was tasty. Food 4/5 pretty good Drinks 4/5 above average Vibe 4/5 up there Washrooms 5/5 so clean even during full house busy weekend brunch. Smells nice in there and the soap smells great too. If I could, I'd vote them for top ten Toronto restaurant bathrooms. Verdict: Just go already.

Yelp
Update from 2017...it's still a 5! We arrived 30 minutes late for our reservation, so obviously our table was given away but the staff were still able to seat us. The service and food were great. They have even more vegan options now on their small menu and they were all lovely. We had the gnocchi, eggplant and carrot dish. They were all great. They have cider flights and a rotating selection which is lovely. The vibe and ambiance are intimate and lovely. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
Went on a whim for a drink and the bartender Jess absolutely made our evening! She was so knowledgeable and welcoming, and I appreciated all her advice both about the ciders and the city. :) They have ciders on tap, as well as an impressive list of local and foreign bottles. I also had the best seltzer I've ever tried from their tap! Can't believe they are the only cider bar in Toronto, but even if they weren't they couldn't be beat! I hope to return someday to try their food menu, because everything looked delicious. Such a cute place.
google avatar

Elaine W.

Yelp
Great variety of ciders with some delicious well made food. Maybe it was the day we went but the ciders listed and the ones available on tap varied quite a bit, making the tasting flight ordering process a bit more complicated. Definitely a must try for people who like ciders.
google avatar

Crystal N.

Yelp
Awesome service every time! I was able to phone ahead of time and book a reservation for the patio. They have the most gorgeous deco inside the restaurant and on the patio! I am extremely impressed by their cider selection. They have about 12 on draft and available for tastings. I thought that the cider tasting pours were quite generous and I've enjoyed them many times. I also like how they offer cider growlers! They're definitely a crowd pleaser if you're going away to the cottage for a weekend. In terms of food, I really like their Brussels sprouts which are soft in the middle and crispy on the outside. Smothered in cheese, maple and other goodness, these brussels sprouts are my absolute favourite!! Their friend chicken is also delicious in the sauce! Super tender on the inside and slight crispy on the outside. Their cod was flavourful and I liked how we can pour the broth onto the bed of veggies and delicate fish. I really like Her fathers cider bar and will keep coming back for different tastings. I had a great time. :)
google avatar

Jan W.

Yelp
Everything was really good. Tried one of their sweeter ciders but didn't get to try the signature. Food wise the Brussels and fried chicken was what they're known for. Enjoyed the rigatoni as well
google avatar

Alexis F.

Yelp
We had a lovely time here. The ambience is great and the wait staff were so kind! I highly recommend the watermelon margarita. It was so refreshing!
google avatar

Maryann K.

Yelp
Great restaurant with a lovely outdoor garden! Service was amazing. We had the bartender choose two flights worth of cider for us. They have a really diverse menu with something for everyone. We ordered oysters, prosciutto, fries, tuna tartare and dessert. The food was great but my only critique is the addition of dried tuna flakes to the tuna tartare. They reminded me of fish food as well as some treats I give my cats. I get it that they were trying to add texture but it was a miss for me. There are other ways to get crunch. The chocolate cake was amazing!!!! It was paired with crème fraiche which tasted very luxurious and sinful. I'd definitely go bad to this place!
google avatar

Kate I.

Yelp
Delicious! The food is excellent. We especially love the Brussels sprouts! One of our favorite spots in the neighborhood. Great little date spot, nice atmosphere and good drinks.
google avatar

Janine W.

Yelp
So this is just for the brunch, I wouldn't recommend. It wasn't busy so likely a sign we should of gone elsewhere. Best part was the freshly squeezed OJ. The food was mediocre. My friend barely ate hers The homemade ketchup was good for dipping the sausage in. The sausage was only good because of the sauce. We both had the 3 eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, toast. My eggs were overcooked as well. I've read going there for cider is a better experience but don't go here for brunch!
google avatar

Tina B.

Yelp
Hubby & I enjoyed dinner her on a Monday evening & we're greeted by friendly staff. Dinner (Agria potato fries, crispy calamari & Wagyu beef sliders) was family style, tapas portion sized, which were ample portions enough for us to share. We ordered a couple of cocktails that were on the sweeter side of their offerings: Watermelon margarita & Something blue, something old fashioned and they were flavorful without being cloyingly sweet. It was a lovely spot to enjoy a quiet weeknight dinner.

Yelp
This is such a hidden gem on Harbord!! It's a small place with a patio so I can imagine it'd be perfect during patio season. They have a selection of ciders on tap. Selection of food is small but quite curated. Highly recommend their cider flights (3 x 4oz for 11.99) to try out what you like. I tried the Berry Rosè, Peach Chardonnay and the Apple Crisp. Fruity flavours weren't overpowering for any of them. Peach Chardonnay ended up being my favourite so I got another half glass of that ($11). Didn't try any of the mains, but shared the Trio of dips (pesto, hummus and curried sweet potato) and the crisped brussel sprouts. The trio of dips actually comes with taro chips and not the conventional tortilla chips! Best of all, they have unlimited refills. Taro chips give me a more satisfying crunch so I loved that they offered those. All the dips were delicious, I was impressed by how flavourful they were. The crisped brussel sprouts weren't as crispy as I'd have preferred. They had some cheese and bacon with it too. A great place to catch up with friends or go on a date! Would recommend reservations though because it was quite packed. There is also street parking a little south of the bar

Yelp
Went here and had a great time!!!! The vibes on this place were immaculate, the service was amazing, and the food was really good!! Also, apparently we got lucky with seats so try to make a reservation beforehand! I think the pictures speak for themselves, the place has some great decor and design and has part restaurant, part bar areas. Very aesthetic! Even their cider menu pops out at you! Very creative with blackboard. The staff were super nice and helpful even when we came in without reservations and I kept asking for more garlic aioli. Don't remember who my servers were but they really made it a great experience!!!! For food, I ordered the parmesan fries ($12) and strawberry rose cider ($11). They have quite a wide selection of ciders (picture below) and also some other drinks as well (not pictured). It was hard to choose! but I wanted to try something sweet and got exactly that. The fries were crispy and came with homemade ketchup and unlimited garlic aioli (assuming you would ask for more). The ketchup wasn't my style but I LOVED the garlic aioli (as if I hadn't said that enough). My friend was a bit embarrassed that I kept asking for more. They went well with the fries and made them pop. The only thing I thought was a bit underwhelming was that the parmesan didn't really stand out. I think even if it wasn't there, I wouldn't notice the difference too much. Overall, I really enjoyed the experience and thought the food was delicious and hope to come back some time to try the buttermilk fried chicken (and more cider)!!!!!

Beth H.

Yelp
I wish I'd grab pictures of the food, but it all looked (and tasted so good) it slipped my mind. We didn't have anything on the menu we didn't like. Party of 6 shared multiple items so we could all sample a little of everything. Service was top notch.

Yelp
Super fan! Came here for the first time last night and everything was fantastic. ATMOSPHERE: A cozy spot on the SE corner of Harbord and Major. It's small, so make reservations in advance to avoid disappointment. It oozes cool with colourful art murals and mismatched wooden furniture. A patio is available in warm weather. SERVICE: Lovely service by a knowledgeable staff ready to answer any questions and make the best recommendations on food and drink. They are very patient, warm and friendly. We never felt rushed - even during busy dinner service time. PRICE: Average prices. And for the offerings and flavour - it's very reasonable pricing. FOOD: AMAZING. Everything was delicious. Here are some highlights... CRISPY BRUSSEL SPROUTS: A small rectangular pan packs a HUGE flavour punch with overflowing brussel sprouts with caramelized maple - all topped with generous bits of smoked bacon, and shaved cheese. This is the BEST brussel sprouts dish I've ever had. With all these ingredients you'd expect it would be very overwhelming. However, the caramelized maple ties the entire dish together perfectly. The texture and flavours are delicious. MUST try. BUTTERMILK FRIED CHICKEN: Five small pieces of boneless chicken make up this appetizer. The chicken is tender and juicy. Paired with an tasty sweet chili sauce (not really spicy) and 2 sprigs of rosemary. I've never rosemary with chicken - and it was such a perfect pairing! Make sure you have some in every bite. ETOUFEE: Etoufee is like a seafood gumbo. This thick stew is topped with red pepper, 3 jumbo shrimp and 4 pieces of house-made sausage. Spice level is low - just enough of a kick to add flavour. Highly recommended. Especially on chilly nights - it's a great dish to warm up with. Now, the ciders... They offer flights at $9.99 for 3 ciders. You can pick either from the local Ontario menu or the International selections - just can't mix the two menus. Ask staff for recommendations if you're not sure what to try. Good portions and offerings. As a wine fan, the Shiny Pinot Noir cider was perfect for me! It's sweet but not too sweet. Does taste like wine. And not dry. Tip: Book on OpenTable to get points for future dining!

Yelp
I made reservations for a group of 6 - everything was lovely. I had the lobster bisque and mushroom risotto. I also had the cider flight and my favorite was number 1. There's a heated patio (if you reserve online, you'll need to comment that you want to sit outside). Almost everything (or possibly everything) is able to be made gluten free! It was very cozy inside and service was very kind and helpful.
google avatar

Lily G.

Yelp
Amazing selection of ciders. Waiters are friendly and knowledgeable, made some good suggestions. We were here on a Sunday afternoon with a group of 6 for my bachelorette party. Seated on the patio. We did make a reservation ahead of time. Would come again if in the area.

Yelp
Went for brunch but stayed for the cider. HFC has a pretty classic brunch menu. I ordered the smoked salmon eggs benedict with home fries and it was yummy (it's not hard to impress me with eggs benny!). Eggs were cooked perfectly and the home fries were crispy and portioned well. They had a unique gravy served with the fries that was sweet. But the real showstopper was the cider. They offer a wide array of ciders that you can order in flights (3x 4oz) to give you a chance to taste several. I tried the Berry Noir, Peach Chardonnay, Semi-sweet Apple, and Vanilla Syrup. They were all very light and sweet, and we finished every drop. If you're a fan of Somersby and sweet drinks, then you'll have a lot of fun here.

Yelp
I am a cider fan ... have been for 35 years. If you are looking for a really great cider bar, this is the place. Lots and lots of choice: about 145 different ciders. They have a great patio for the summer days and a good inside space. The staff are great and very knowledgeable about the ciders. Treat yourself when near this part of town. My first choice was a Zeffer Slack Ma Girdle from New Zealand ... wonderful.
google avatar

Yelp
I rarely venture out to this side of town but I was pleasantly surprised to see what a cute bistro-like place this was! I love that you can get a flight of ciders to taste a variety of flavours and it was at an affordable price. Score! The food was also good but on the pricier side. I got the Arctic char and only wished they gave me a bigger portion. We had to get dessert to fill our stomachs and the chocolate mousse was so good! Highly recommend.

Yelp
Great food, great cider, friendly staff. This was my first time in Toronto and my first place to get food. We went for a late dinner Saturday night and were seated almost immediately. The hostess was super sweet and gave us a great reccomendation on what to do during our time in Toronto. Cider Flight: the best I tried was the "bootleg." Sweet and delicious. Tasted like vanilla champagne cola... amazing. Best cider I've had Chickpea fries: great! Yummy aioli too. Would get again. Crispy brussel sprouts: so delicious Cheese Bread: decent flavor on outside. Inside was bland and chewy. Would pass on this but appreciate that it was Gluten Free Fried Chicken: awesome! Great with their house hot sauce or house ketchup Ambiance: dark and cozy. A bit warm inside. Nice vibe and full of young professionals. Everything we order was gluten free! GF fried chicken thighs is a god send. Would come back next time I'm in toronto.

Yelp
Really cool spot. Went with friends last weekend and were super happy with the vibe - very chill, not too loud, good music - great for catching up. Huge menu - we started trying a few ciders on tap then tried some of the bottles. Lots of options in the $8/$9 price range, goes up from there. I wished there were more description on the chalkboard of ciders on tap but just a minor complaint, servers helped us out with further info. Overall, the service was very attentive, water glass was always full and serivce was friendly. We only had drinks but food looked good too. Will definitely go back here if I'm looking for a spot for drinks in this neighbourhood.

Yelp
So I was looking to have a least dinner in Toronto during my last full day. I had noticed Her Father's Cider Bar & Kitchen on Yelp. With a bit of quick browsing, it seemed exceptional. Presenting it to the person I was visiting, I was thrilled to see it had his seal of approval. We started off with Cider Flights. Which flights are listed on the photo being posted on this review. There's such a wide variety that you can take your time and really find one that matches your tastes of what you're feeling. We had the chick pea fries as an appetizer. They were nice and light but satisfying. My friend from Toronto had the fried chicken and Brussel sprouts, which are both appetizers, as his main. The Brussel sprouts had a nice crispness to their exterior, while the chicken seemed perfectly breaded. I had the short rib main which came with a potato base. The short rib was cooked perfectly and fell apart. We finished the meal with a flourless chocolate cake and two espressos. If you're looking for a final or any meal in Toronto, give them a shot!

Yelp
Interesting find on Yelp while in the neighbourhood. It is a cider bar and had many choices of different cider. Nice to be able to order the cider flight to try different ciders and food was good. The fried chicken was really good the short ribs while tasty were a bit on the dry side. Definitely worth trying.

Yelp
I think I am always thirsty and love to get my intake of calories in liquid form? Her Father's Cider probably the only Cider bar in GTA. And I was impressed with their selections! Love the $12 Flight Options of any 3 ciders on taps. West Avenue Gold 2015 6.9% Shiny Pinot Noir 9% KW Thai Ginger 6.7% All so tasty and easy drinking and refreshing! They were so good that I ended up drinking them so fast and the next thing I was like a little drunk?! Lovely vibe, Friendly staff and even have a west facing patio if you want a lot of sun. Cannot comment on the food but awesome cider selections. Worth checking out if you love ciders!

Yelp
I was tasked with finding a patio for a gathering, but it also had to have gluten-free food options due to diet restrictions. Usually patio means pub, which means sad salads as the only gluten-free option, which means sad gluten-free friends. Luckily I found both at this little gem of a place! Reservations were specifically for the patio but we walked through the main dining area which was cosy, and intimate with beautiful artwork on the walls. The patio is lovely for summer weather, plenty of umbrellas for shade and high fences to provide a sense of privacy. We were seated promptly and greeted with a sizable menu of cider options, along with the ciders on tap list. Staff are knowledgeable about the list and are happy to recommend something to your specific tastes. My personal favorites from the night was Tawse (light, refreshing, thirst-quencher) and Shiny (full berry flavored but clean without an aftertaste). More adventurous selections would be the Thai Ginger or the Pear Lavender. Food is excellent here! More than half the menu is gluten-free and there are plenty of choices for everyone. I would recommend getting a bunch of their snacks and try their different options. We had the friend chicken, brussels sprouts, shrimp tacos, and sliders. All delicious but the brussel sprouts won the table vote, even non-brussel sprout eaters found them to be 'good' - which is high praise. I feel like my gluten-free friends will be back here often!

Yelp
Came here for ciders, end up loving their food! Apple ciders: We tried the flight of the ciders on the menu for $10/3 kinds. I got the No.3,5 and 6 - cider with oak vanilla flavour, cider with rosé, flagship. They were definitely different taste to it, however I found them okay, but not great. I tried my friend's ones as well, if I have to pick, I like their signature ones- HF. Food: We tried their butter fried chicken and the coconut shrimp taco - both are really good, but portion was quite small regarding to the price point. If u are near the area, def worth to try it out.

Yelp
Awesome cider flights and great food. Can't go wrong! Managed to check out and enjoy the patio before it got too cold. I love the variety of ciders and service was great. Highly recommend trying the cod.

Yelp
Wow. This was one of the most enjoyable dining experiences I've had in a long time. We had made a reservation for Sunday night. It wasn't necessary since they weren't too busy (this might have been due to rainy windy weather) but we were on a somewhat tight schedule. It is a small restaurant, very cozy with a lot of wood and dim lighting and the perfect volume for conversation. There is a bar in the back. Washrooms are downstairs, they were clean but had the shortest clearance I've ever seen so watch your head. This place is not fancy or pretentious instead making a lovely environment and focus on quality ingredients. Great for a date night or small group of friends. The host/server was very friendly and went the extra mile to make our first date out as new parents very special. She sat us right away and introduced us to their cider flights. Since this is their specialty I highly recommend starting with this. They had 12 or so ciders to choose from starting with traditional apple to a vanilla spice. We ordered the dip, Brussels sprouts, and lobster bisque to start. All were fantastic but I highly recommend the Brussels sprouts, they are by far the best I've ever had! In addition to our entrees (falafel for me), we ordered a few cocktails followed by dessert. Order the pannacota you won't be disappointed!

Yelp
Hands down one of the most intimate and cozy bars in the city. There's a warm ambiance on the patio and pre-covid, the indoor seating was charming as well. The menu has a revolving set of craft ciders and those on tap. The dining menu also varies season to season and each time I've visited the staff have been kind and accommodating. A hidden gem in Toronto - Perfect for cider lovers and for anyone looking for a quaint and affectionate evening with friends or a loved one!

Yelp
If you're a cider fan, this place is a must-visit! They have an amazing collection of ciders that you won't find anywhere else. While they're known for their drinks, the food is also fantastic. I ordered the Braised Beef Short Rib and highly recommend it. The beef was savory and tender and went well with the toppings and sides. While it was tender, there was still enough texture to give a decent chew. The decor is warm and comforting and the staff were friendly and helpful with the menu. Menu is on the pricier end.

Yelp
This place is absolutely delicious! It's known for it's tapas and I do recommend ordering a few dishes and sharing it with your friends. My husband and I ordered 4 dishes and everything was delicious. I think our favorite were the brussel sprouts but the fried chicken was really good too. Actually, all 4 dishes were tasty. Everything you ordered on the menu would be good. They have homemade ketchup for some of your dishes and they were very unique and tasty! We now need to come back and try other things in their menu.

Yelp
I came to Her Father's Cider Bar and Kitchen after reading all the great reviews on Yelp. I ate here on a Sunday evening, and was seated immediately at the bar. Staff here was very friendly and attentive. I ended up ordering a flight of 3 ciders (of which there were 4-6 pages of!) and the venison sirloin. They were out of one of the ciders I wanted but the bartender was quick to recommend a similar cider that they had available. The venison sirloin was cooked to perfection at medium temperature. The whole meal was very delicious! If I was in Toronto again, I'd definitely try this place again to sample more of their ciders and taste more of their menu items. An easy 5 stars from me :)

Yelp
This place wreaks of cool vibes, good cider, gastropub, with a generous topping of trendy. They have a complete spectrum of ciders for your taste and I settled on the Kingmill, slightly sweet, with a note of hops. The deviled eggs were a surprising hit, the right touch of spice, and flavor. I had the fried chicken (it's a thing here in TOR) and it was pretty damn good. The Brussels sprouts had s sprinkling of cheese which was quite tasty. Overall, this is an awesome diamond in the culinary circuit that is Toronto. Thank you to Scott and Tianna (the bartenders), Tim (the GM) and Joshua, chef extraordinaire and owner, for a great dining experience. Now if only you could do something about this cold weather....LOL.

Yelp
This place was AWESOME. They have 12 local ciders on draft, and you can do a flight of 3 for $10. The staff were super knowledgeable and helped us make some interesting selections. There was a wide range of options (i did a bubbly one, a ginger, and a sour mango). They also had an excellent selection of bottles from around the world, including two I used to drink while living in New Zealand (Zeffer and Crooked). Food selection was limited but very tasty. I had the trout which was cooked nicely with tasty sides. Others had the Brussels sprouts (got rave reviews) and the deviled eggs. I'll be back next time I'm in Toronto!
