"A good option for discovering the essence of the Alentejo, given its location on a charming quinta surrounded by trees and vineyards (it also has two dozen guestrooms), with access via a private road that is well signposted from the village. Here, the focus is on traditional cooking with plenty of personality thanks to the use of organic ingredients grown on the estate or from meat from its own livestock (Alentejo veal, merino lamb, Iberian pork etc). A choice of wine-tasting options is also available, ranging from three wines on the Basic package to six, including tapas, for those booking the Flight pairing." - Michelin Inspector

I stayed for 3 days 2 nights. I have to say that everything was perfect!! We had a room with a fire place even thought my husband and I came in winter had been awesome the all time. Service, room service, breakfast, dinner was TOP!! Here also u can do the biking and sauna🤩.. we also done the wine tasting with tapas, really good, wines and everything are perfect, my husband and I are so happy with everything.. many animals too, horses, dogs, ostrich, black pig, sheeps, goats, ducks, birds, etc. It’s a place for being calm and enjoy the nature , loved it!!!

Great estate with lovely grounds and first class hotel. Room was huge and fireplace an added bonus. The room was however 1.5km away from the restaurant and the road very dark and full of holes. There is no bar or sitting area, just the restaurant.|The bathroom came with a bath but not enough water to fill it which was strange - why provide a bath if you cannot use it? I did ask and was told that the tank isn’t big enough for a bath.|The overall impression was good but you need to be aware of the distances between the rooms and the restaurant.

Nice queit countryside retreat, owned by the Vila Vita chain, the dinner was just okay it didn't blow us away. The waiters are polite but for a hotel of this standard they seemed a little inexperienced and at times confused when we were ordering.

Sopa de cação and kid menu fish uneatable. Nobody in the staff cares about it, they take the plates way full with no questioning. They even give you another brand heavily used bottle wine dispenser as in the photo. Staff fighting loudly between themselves upon seating. Run away.

Stopped between evora and Algarve for a special lunch.|Don’t bother.|The restaurant was cafeteria in feel especially with families and kids. Noise accentuated by the tile floors and large open room.|The winery was not open for tours or tastings and the bar area had dirty tables and no bartender.|The grounds where we (were allowed to) walk were meh.|The food was good. Ordered the black pork which was cooked nicely. Came will grilled Vegs and French fries. Certainly not fine dining but perfectly acceptable.

We stayed at another hotel, but we drove here for dinner one evening. The service was spectacular, as was the food. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening, and all of the items that were recommended by our server. We even came back the next day to buy olive oil and wine from the wine shop. The ambiance is a little more family-friendly than couples/romantic, but that was ok for us.

We have just spent two nights at Herdade dos Grous. It was an amazing experience. Firstly we had reserved a Junior Suite but on arrival we’re upgraded to a full suite which was huge! The rooms were huge, super comfy bed, lovely living area with sofas, full size dining area, and kitchenette with full size fridge and dishwasher. Every comfort was offered from robes to tea/coffee, fruit bowl, bottle of wine, wood burner fire (although we weren’t offered any wood!), fluffy towels everywhere and massive amount of storage. We could have lived here happily for two weeks! Each room has bikes outside assigned and guests are encouraged to cycle the grounds which are vast and so picturesque. The grounds are beautifully tended and the lake is stunning. It was cool and a little cloudy on our first day but we were lucky the estate was celebrating St Martins Day. We were offered a tour of the winery, taste of the new harvest wine and a fabulous barbecue lunch with more wine which we shared with other guests and estate workers. The afternoon was such fun with limitless food, wine, water and music and an outside fire pit lit which was a lovely touch. We stayed in cosy with some wine and cheese and then cycled to the excellent breakfast the next morning, The restaurant is a little dated but food offered is very good. We had a lovely dinner and two great breakfast buffets. There is so much to do here and we would love to return in Spring or late Summer to make more use of the outdoor activities which are plentiful...horse riding, canoeing, pedalos, swimming pool, sun terraces. If you’re looking for somewhere laid back where you’re not on top of all the other guests and opportunities for lovely walks, cycling and chilling along with superb wines and fine dining Herdade dos Grous is for you! We can’t wait to go back for more!

Very nice and relaxing estate. Because the guests are spread in many buildings, the place is very peaceful. The buildings, rooms and landscape are very clean and well maintained. It has lots of free activities on site. Good breakfast. Great place to escape for a romantic getaway. We booked there because we knew their wine and love it, so experienced the wine tasting. We do recommend it if you have never tried their wine, although a bit pricy. We also tried the restaurant for dinner and it is good, but nothing special.
