After a poor experience at Boot Barn we found Heritage through Google Search and we truly struck Gold. The owner is an incredible and inspiring person who knows hats since he has run the business for 40+ years. He is so helpful and genuine and as international travellers we had a great experience and he is happy to talk and advise. When in the area again we would not hesitate to stop buy. Most important his prices are realistic and not inflated so thank you so much for that.

I was on the hunt for a cowboy hat back in July and found exactly what I needed at Heritage Hats. Rich was incredibly helpful—he guided me in the right direction and helped me pick out the perfect hat. I ended up getting a Stetson and am very pleased! The store itself is awesome, with a huge selection and a real sense of history that adds to the experience. I also had a great conversation with Rich; he's not just knowledgeable, but genuinely welcoming. I highly recommend Heritage Hats to anyone looking for quality hats and great service!

Heritage Hats is an absolute gem! From the moment we walked in, the experience was so warm and welcoming. We had the pleasure of sitting and talking with the owner for a while, and it quickly became clear how much heart and pride he puts into his work. He helped us find the perfect hat and accent band, and the whole process felt personal and enjoyable rather than just a purchase. Not only did we leave with a beautiful hat, but we left feeling like we had just met one of the most genuine and deserving business owners out there.

After looking and researching for.a cowboy hat and speaking with a few coworkers I was guided to Rich who owns heritage hats. Let me start with I have never owned a cowboy/cowgirl hat, however I do wear baseball caps 99.9% of the time. I happened to finally stop in, Rich is one ANAZING GUY I explain my situation knowing I did not needed anything extremely expensive but also nothing extremely cheap either, wanting something that would last sometime so no straw.. (yes kind of a difficult person) and I run extremely hot (no pune intended) living in Phoenix and having a smaller sized head. I had asked Rich if he could guide me in the right direction. After listening to all my question and concerns he walked me straight to two different hats that were both perfect. I was in and out of there in no time with a hat that fit perfect was the color I wanted in the right price range and will last. Rich is extremely friendly, helpful and knows his stuff to say the least I will definitely be returning to check out all the other hats this gem of a shop has to offer. Amazing hat store. Heritage has every type of hat made. Quality hats not garbage made in China. Finally blew through my quality made hat three years after I bought it. Heritage Hats worked a small miracle on my great grandfather’s Open Road Stetson. When I dropped it off, the hat looked almost unrepairable. A week later, I picked up what looked like a brand-new hat from the late 1930s. The craftsmanship and attention to detail are outstanding. I am beyond pleased with the result and grateful to Rich for bringing this heirloom back to life. If you’re looking for precise, quality restoration that honors the hat and its history, Heritage Hats is the place to go.

Owner is super knowledgeable and store has a vast selection of hats inclusive of top brands like Stetson. They customize hats for the shape and fit you want and have the expertise to customize it fast yet with precision. We have bought multiple hats from him and keep brining friends and family in because there is no other place we would recommend.

If I could give 0 stars I would. My daughter wanted to surprise me for my birthday with a new fedora so she researched hat places and found heritage hats. She called ahead of time to see what selection he had and he told her he had a huge selection. So we drove all the way from Florence to check it out. As soon as we walk in we are not greeted or helped. Finally we find the hats we were looking for and go to find the guy working there. Which we later found out was the owner. He was super rude and not helpful. Which was weird because he was friendly with other customers. He got upset at us for asking questions and said I knew you weren't gonna buy anything from the questions you were asking and told us to leave his store. Side note after reading the reviews I know I'm not the only one that this has happened to.

In town visiting and I needed a new Panama Hat. I figured an actual hat shop would be better than getting one online. This is an amazing shop with a great selection of all types of hats. The owner was very helpful and I'm thrilled with my new hat. Looks great and I love the quality. And I liked that I was able to actually try on the different hats to get the right fit and look, especially when spending a little more for a quality hat. Highly recommend this shop.

THIS WAS A HUGE WASTE OF TIME AND GAS! I WOULD GIVE IT NEGATIVE STARS IF I COULD! My family and I drove all the way from San Tan Valley to get a nice hat for my dad's birthday. We walked in and immediately got ignored but we didn't think anything about it because he seemed like the only one there. After we found the hats we were looking for I went to look for him and ask some questions about the hats we did see and he was super short and barley answered our questions but still we thought he was just busy so we weren't upset. I went to find him yet again because he wouldn't stay to help us and he said i don't know what to tell you look online and maybe you'll find something. Then I told him we drove all the way here AFTER talking to him on the phone and him telling us he has a huge selection of what we were looking for. He then said okay well then leave my store I knew you weren't going to buy anything anyways when you walked in.

This shop is such a gem! Amazing selection of fun and special hats for every occasion, and at a variety of price points. The owner Rich, is incredibly knowledgeable, funny and kind. Also, there is a community food bank next door that he opened which makes shopping at Heritage Hat Company even better.

I had called ahead of time and spoke to a younger gentleman about stretching a hat I bought my son in Mexico. Upon going there, however we met a very cranky older gentleman who was extremely rude to us. Everything was overpriced. I do not recommend this place.

Heritage Hats is an icon and an Arizona staple. This is your go to shop for all hats. Just went in yesterday and he had the Stetson Skyline in Sahara in stock. That had is sold out everywhere in my size. Somehow he's got em. He can also clean/block/shape hats too. This guy has it all and does it all.

Rich is officially one of my favorite humans of all time. Heritage Hats is the "southwest" equivalent to finding wands in the Harry Potter world. There's every sized hat, from top name brands, stacked in this store. Brought my Dad who was visiting from Michigan to get his very first Stetson. Rich not only helped him find a size that fit his head (he's about a size 8) but sized it to his head. Rich knows his inventory well and if you're lucky, his sweet two puppies will say hi to you. Definitely coming back and is now the only place I'll go to gets cowboy hats. Thank you Rich!

Coming from Connecticut this place was on my list to do and I am happy it was. The owner was welcoming and not too overwhelming for us with the large selection of hats & styles. The inventory here is like no other and the chances of you walking out empty handed is slim since you will find exactly what you're looking for. If you're in the area (or 30 minutes away like us) and looking for the perfect cowboy hat come here. Even if you don't know exactly what you want; you will find it and fall in love when visiting the store.

Don't expect warm and fuzzy service. I didn't even feel that comfortable in the place. However, if you want a hat and have an idea what you want this is the place to go. Lots and lots to choose from

Let's say you need a hat. Not a baseball cap but pretty much any other kind of hat. Rich at Heritage Hats has it. We've wanted to go for a long time. "God only made a few perfect heads, the rest he covered with hair." So we took my perfect head out to HH. Easy to find (the HATS sign is the first big clue) and easy to park. It's an unassuming place. Rich, the owner and sole employee (although the dog offered us some suggestions from the back) has been there 40 years. So it's home to him and there's a level of his life there. You're not getting a fitting here. You're not having somebody wait on you. There's no pressure, no constant asking you if you need help. You wanna look at hats? There's more hats here in one place than you've ever seen, I guarantee. He's got hats. Rich knows his stuff. There's awards and famous people pictures up and letters from people thanking him for his help. It's such a blessing to go into a place where someone just knows their stuff. He's not trying to impress you or make himself look good. You want hats, he's got hats. We enjoyed engaging with Rich during our time there. Just like the place, he's unassuming and approachable. He's also kind and has a heart behind all those hats. The food bank next door? He established that. Who does he support in a big way? Phoenix Children's Hospital. He is, as you might say, a man of many...hats. The hats are high quality items and thus are not the price you'd pay at Target or Costco. You want hats? He's got hats. There's no place else around like Heritage Hats. It's obviously a Phoenix institution. If you want a hat...well, you know now where to go.

Now THIS is a proper hat store! I hardly ever write reviews, but I had such a great experience I had to come back and write about it. I came into the store about a week ago looking to get my dad's hat resized for his birthday (it was slightly big). Rich was super helpful, and because my dad wasn't there to be measured, Rich gave me the option of using a small insert to make it fit better in the meantime. I was expecting to spend a lot more, but was pleasantly surprised! I fell in love with another cowboy hat while I was there and I ended up getting it for my dad too. Mr. Rich, the hat fit perfect with that small adjustment, and you made the right call sizing the new one as best you could without him being there! His older hat doesn't blow off anymore and the new hat fit perfect! Told my dad about your shop and now he wants me to bring his other hats in to you for cleaning. Guess we'll be seeing you again very soon!

Went to get my daughter's Stetson cleaned and reblocked, as it is one of the only local places (maybe the only?) that provides these services. I drove an hour to drop it off and then again to pick it up. Totally worth the drive to me. Been to many hat stores over the years but this one tops them all. There are so many hats to choose from in seemingly endless variety (lots of western and fedoras) and as you can imagine, the proprietor knows all about them and can make a recommendation if you need it. They are one of the few local outfits who have the knowledge and equipment to shape your hat, and they can even make one for you (Naturally it's going to cost more than an off the shelf Stetson or Resistol, but how cool is a custom hat?) Plan to spend some time here when you come. This isn't the Boot Barn and this local business is not meant to be. Western hats are entwined with Arizona's climate, history and culture. Even as open desert, dairies and ranches have given way to urban sprawl , hats are still popular and have recently experienced a resurgence in demand, so it can get busy. Like a good old monsoon flash flood, it can go from empty to full of people in the blink of an eye, so please be patient and kind if there are others ahead. Besides, it's a great opportunity to browse more hats! Oh, I almost forgot. When my daughter saw her vintage hat beautifully restored like new, she was beaming from ear to ear. That's a memory you can't put a price on. This place is a no-brainer if you need a western or any hat, and a strong recommendation if you are visiting the Phoenix area and want to come home with a piece of the old west.

Best hat shop ever. Needed a hat as I was "headed" to Louisville for the Kentucky Derby. Owner sent me into his second room with all the right hats. If you need a hat it's gonna be found here that is for sure.

A buddy of mine told me about this place and I stopped by on my way from work. First off, biggest and most varied selection of hats I've ever seen! You need any style of hat, Heritage Hat Compancy has you covered. The owner (wish I would've gotten a name) was extremely nice, knowledgeable, and steered me into right what I was looking for. Rich has an amazing store with quality Stetson hats! Very personable shopkeeper who helped my husband size his hat appropriately and also was able to adjust it to be more comfortable for his head shape. Prices are excellent in comparison for what you will pay for the same product in locations such as Scottsdale. I will be returning to Heritage Hat company for all my hat needs!

I went in today to get a new Fedora. Customer service lacking. I obviously needed help finding the right one. The guy pointed to another room then disappeared. I was not able to find my hat. He never did come out from the back until money was produced by another customer. Four more hat places in town. Bring my business to someone who cares

Rich at Heritage Hats in Phoenix has the best hat store in the west (maybe the country) and is the most knowledgeable of anyone I've ever purchased a hat from, and I've been wearing western hats since 1973. Drove all the way from Mesa for the hat shaping because of the reviews only to be disappointed, service was terrible not sure why because he seemed to be nice to other people maybe because we were younger or he thought we weren't going to buy anything but we planned on purchasing multiple hats. He completely ignored us, quickly shaped our hat and never offered to help us even though we clearly were standing there looking for help. Would not recommend we went to Saba's in Chandler for them to fix the hat and Boot barn to buy hats even though we prefer supporting local that's how much we were dissatisfied with this place. Saba's hat shaping is 10x better and they clean your hat too! (With a smile)

Rich was patient and kind with us while we meandered around. He was knowledgeable and gave our son tips on wearing and caring for his hat. He also helped me find one that I love (a leather Stetson!). What an amazing selection of fine quality hats. Today I bought a Gambler style hat with a pencil roll brim. This style hat is hard to find. Clark Gable wore one in the movie Gone With The Wind The owner is very helpful and knows his products. I will return again as soon as possible. If you're a serious hat afficionad this is the place for you!

Large selection of hats and friendly no nonsense staff. I loved all the colors. I did walk out with no purchase yesterday mainly due to pricing. I found multiple other retailers with similar quality at significantly better prices.

Stopped into Heritage Hats located in North Phoenix on Cave Creek Road. Have passed by this business for many years. Met Rich the owner who has been at this location for over 35 years. I have never seen so many hats in one location. They have a large selection of quality hats including westerns, fedoras, panamas, caps and many others. They also do cleaning, blocking, and full restoration work. Was looking for a summer cap and there were many selections. Purchased a stetson cap but also saw my next future hat which is a panama. Could have easily spent a few hours there. They want you to pick up the hats by the brim and not the top of the hat. Not too many hat shops like Heritage Hats. Put this one on your list.

Went in to purchase a cowboy hat for my wife. RIch was extremely patient with her and since the store was not to busy at the time, he even steamed my hat free of charge......a great experience. Will go back when it's time to purchase another hat.

Such a fantastic experience buying some hats from Rich while visiting Phoenix. I've only recently gotten into wearing hats, so I'm not the most knowledgeable customer. Rich is one of the best hatters I've ever had the privilege of meeting! He has an incredibly wide selection -- everything from western hats to fedoras, Panama straws to flat caps and more. Largest selection of hats I've ever seen. I'm not much of a hat wearer. Now that I'm getting a little older and my hair is thinning more, plus an upcoming trip to Hawaii, I thought it was time to cover my head with something. I'm glad I learned about this place. The man working there was very helpful and made some good recommendations and gave me all the time I needed to look. I really like my purchase. I love a store that is run by the person that owns it. You will be amazed at the number of hats that you find in the store. My cousin picked out an American made Stetson for my Uncle (who you see in the picture happy as all get out)! Wonderful vibe, easy to access location, selection that cannot be beat! Took about 10 minutes he had 7 7/8 and 8s in stock in a couple of colors, and I finally own a Stetson. Couldn't be happier.

I bought my first hat from Rich at Heritage Hats way back in the mid 80's when he first opened. He always has the best and finest selection of not only Western hats but any other hat you can imagine. From fine felt cowboy hats from the finest US hat makers to fine dress and formal hats....and authentic Panamas too! I highly recommend Heritage Hats!
