Worth the visit, 10/10 experience. The staff were very nice and welcoming. The food was amazing as well. We got the brisket, catfish, ribs, & buffalo wings. Everything was cooked to perfection and seasoned well with a lot of flavor. Will for sure be back to visit.

Google
On a hot summer weekday we decided to eat some bbq. Now they didn't have any brisket or pulled chicken left so we were a little disappointed....granted we arrived close to closing on a slow night. But that didn't make a difference because that half rack if ribs was on point. And the Pork taco were great. Green beans and pinto were good and tasty. So we will have to call next time to make sure we get some brisket and pulled chicken. Willie took care of us at the table and George is the owner and pitmaster. I didn't take pictures of the food but imagine some perfect ribs.

Google
The ribs were great - flavorful and tender. Everything else was lackluster, which is a real shame because I liked everything else about this place! The restaurant itself was a nice semi-casual, semi-refined mix. The service was friendly and the food came out quick. Also loved the sauce bar. I would maybe come back for the ribs if we were in the area, but otherwise I’m looking elsewhere.

Google
First visit to Heritage Smokehouse and the food and service was awesome. I had the Brisket Platter with roll, potato salad and braised green beans. They had a BBQ sauce area with a decent selection of what appeared to be homemade sauces. It was a five star experience, however, I only gave it four stars due to it being very overpriced. The platter with water cost me $45 ($37.10 plus $8 tip). I would have paid that for a sampler platter of meats but compared to Famous Dave’s One Meat Platter $18.99, Heritage is severely (85%) overpriced for a similar experience. Picture Comparison: Heritage Smokehouse plate has green beans and Famous Dave’s plate has cornbread.

Stopped in for lunch. Food, atmosphere and service were excellent. We shared wings as an appetizer. I had a brisket sandwich with macaroni & cheese. My companions had ribs and the kale salad. All of us agreed we'd come back. A little pricey so I'm giving 4 stars. I'll check for specials and go back.

Google
By no means was the food bad just a little lacking in flavor. I can’t give more than 3 stars cause I think the price for it just in all honesty wasn’t worth it. I got a platter with 1/2 rack of ribs, 1/2 lb brisket, and one kasekrainer. I only got the green beans as they ran out of mac and cheese. All together it ran me about 110 dollars. I don’t think it was worth that much especially when your can order all these things separately and it cost about 20 dollars less than what I paid. By no means was the food bad though I just don’t think it was worth its price.

This is definitely a 4.5-4.6 spot. Nice bar tender, I was new to the restaurant and he knew his menu. The atmosphere is great. Food is moist. BBQ sauces are great! I got the Brisket, Pork Ribs, Mac & Cheese, Potato Salad, Green Beans, and Buffalo Wings. And the Margarita was made just right. CHECK THIS SPOT OUT!

Google
This is a review to IMPLORE the owners/chef to include a reliable vegetarian option on the menu. I understand it's a "smokehouse" that smokes meats, but we live steps away and love the food (partner eats meat), the vibe, and the drinks and would be here every week if there was something other than a kale salad I could eat. The chef once had this divine flatbread/hummus/tomato dish that was one of the best vegetarian dishes I've ever had. I check the menu almost weekly to see if it will ever come back, but alas.

Yelp
food was amazing. got the beef brisket platter, brisket fell apart in my mouth. came with pickles a roll and two sides. got smoked Mac and cheese and fries. the max and cheese was amazing. was cheesy but not overwhelming. fries were pretty salty so if that not your thing I'm sure you can ask for less but I personally loved it. brisket was so so good, cooked very well and seasoned very well too. our waiter was also very amazing !! we asked what part of the cow brisket was and instead of saying I don't know and leaving it at that they looked it up. checked on us multiple times and was very kind. I will definitely be coming back and recommending this place !!

Yelp
My dad is a pit master. I've only had ribs rivaling his on one occasion in Kansas City over a decade ago. These ribs stole the top stop. They were so good my dinner companion and I had a ten minute period go by where we made only sounds you make when the food is perfection. I had the carnitas tacos and the flavor was full meat was tender. Hand squeezed lemonade with just the right tangy and sweet. The place has cool ambiance, 70s nostalgic and tidy. Our waiter was laid back and attentive at the same time. He was great. Overall I give this place an 11 out of 10.

Yelp
This is my second time visiting Heritage. My first time was a few years ago, and I will say I don't remember the food being THIS good. I came in on a rainy Friday afternoon with my son. The bar was full but we were the only ones in the dining room area. The bar tender was holding down the entire establishment and didn't miss a beat. The service and food delivery were quick. We ordered the Choriqueso, Smoked Wings, Mac side, String Beans side, and "yeast rolls with honey butter." Everything was tasty and flavored well. The yeast rolls were literally King's Hawaiian rolls with no honey butter atop. I'm not mad at a King's Hawaiian rolls at all, just wasn't what I envisioned we would be getting. The Mac and string beans were so delicious, we ordered some to go. Definitely will be back, much sooner than a few years from now. Cheers to a great time!

Yelp
Recently visited Heritage Smokehouse for lunch. The brisket sandwich was fantastic, service was prompt, and the overall vibe of the place was super welcoming and friendly. 100% recommend.

Yelp
Second time visiting and both times we picked up. Not much traffic on a Friday mid day. Order by phone was quick and seamless. Rustic interior with mixed seating and a good size Bar. On our first visit, we really were curious about the brisket and having experienced the Texas variety, we are tough customers. I have to say Heritage's brisket did not disappoint- just the right smoke and super tender-reminded me of some of the best that I've had in the Lone Star state. For this visit, we decided to try all of their meats, which is called the Ron Swanson-their meat sampler. The sampler included shaved pit pork, spare ribs, brisket, four types of their sausage, and smoked chicken. Again, the brisket stood out as well the different types of sausage. That said, the spare ribs were amazing and really some of the best that I've had and a must try! For sides, we ordered the green beans, mac & cheese, and coleslaw. Green Beans were our favorite followed by the Mac. I forgot to take some of the sauce that they had, but they included an Aji Verde sauce- Green salsa with just the right spicy which was delicious and paired well with the sliced pork and smoked chicken. The Burger was also ordered. House ground Brisket blend made for a delicious Smash Cheese Burger. Limited and off menu so ask for it. Service was friendly and fast. So good to have this spot as I would say it is the place for barbecue in the Baltimore area.

Yelp
I'll keep this review short. The spot isn't really big but what they are packing is huge. Their brisket is like butter. The brisket was so moist. They even accommodated my request for a little beef fat. I'm also drooling over found memories of the ricotta and smoked meatballs. The flavor was so bold and savory. Service was friendly and everything came out in a timely manner. A return trip is in the future!!

Yelp
Heritage will always be my favorite. I think about it on a weekly basis. \ On a recent visit, I tried some new menu items including the jamon and melon. I loved seeing this on the menu since it is traditionally very Italian but Heritage put their own American BBQ spin on it. It was delicious! Of course, I got the brisket again and this time, I opted for the french fries as a side. They were delicious - the perfect french fry. They reminded me a bit of the fries from Charcoal Deli, iykyk. The smoked wings continue to be delicious as well. I definitely recommend giving those a try. I will be returning of course, and hopefully very soon!

Yelp
Pretty cool little place in Baltimore. Had a friend from Austin visiting, so we decided to come check out their BBQ and ordered the Ron Swanson, because why not We sat at the bar and the bartender/mixologist was super friendly and although they didn't have a drink on the current menu for the cobra cup, he was nice enough to let me get a drink with it Giant Plate of Meat, based on our Texas Style BBQ Palate... The Good: Pork Ribs: Best thing on the plate! Fall off the bone, super delicious. Chicken: Moist, flavorful, yum Turkey: surprising delicious and not dry The Ok: Brisket: It was ok, good smoked rings but lack in flavor and moisture. Slightly disappointed, could be a bad day. The Meh: Sausages: 1 was ok, 2 were gritty and dry. Will I go back again...Yes!

Yelp
Not going to lie, the brisket and ribs were so good tonight they made me want to cry! Melt in your mouth goodness. First time here, definitely will not be the last.

Yelp
First time here in my old hood. Saturday late afternoon we stopped in for early dinner and visit another retail operation next door. Sat at bar and ordered beers and an app. Asked the bartender to put the bball game and they could not get cbs because they had no cable. Huh? March Madness?? Bar? We ordered 3 things one at a time knowing they would come out right away like most bbq joints. We had cold smoked Char w sour cream sauce on bottom & onion and roe. Served w potato chips. Really really good. Then we had half a rack of ribs. These were best of the best. Rub was not salty but had a kick. Not overly Smokey flavored either but they were very good. Last we split a brisket sammy that had onion. Good but not like the first 2 things. Drank cheap Miller High Life in bottle which was great w bbq. Why only 4 stars? Something's were just off. The TVs and it just did not feel professionally operated. The food itself is worth visiting for but I worry about the location and its price points!!! Great food but you pay for it.

Yelp
I finally visited Heritage Smokehouse for dinner with my husband a few weeks ago, after wanting to visit for years! Their menu changes up all the time but we tried their fried sardines, smoked arctic char toast, a sliced brisket sandwich, and a slice of coconut custard pie. Everything was great. I was really impressed by the variety of dishes on their menu. You can definitely go and have a classic BBQ dinner: brisket, ribs, sausages, mac and cheese, rolls, etc. But they also have dishes that you might not expect - like the fried herring and smoked arctic char dishes we tried! It's BBQ but so creative. Our drinks were also great. The vibes were great (I definitely felt like I was back home in Texas - it's very homey, casual, but cool). And the service was fantastic - warm, helpful, just really great. Overall, definitely a place I plan to return. Next time with more people - so we can share more of their food!

Yelp
The service here was fantastic but I did not enjoy the main food. I ordered the brisket sandwich and it was extremely fatty and not very flavorful. The green beans were also not very good to me. I only took a bite and did not desire having anymore. The banana pudding had no sweetness to it. My favorite part of the meal was the sodas and the peanut butter pie. The peanut butter pie was delicious. The pork bites and wings were pretty decent and had a good amount of flavor to them. Maybe we came in a bad day because I did hear some good things about this place. Or maybe it want for my taste buds.

Yelp
I enjoyed my meal at heritage smokehouse! My husband and I came here for dinner one Saturday evening and we had a good time. We split the kale ceasar salad, which was particularly good and for a main I got the kielbasa platter with mac and cheese and potato salad! The food in general was great and the space was solid. Our waiter was helpful as well. My only thing was that the food was a bit on the pricy side for the amount of meat I got (although my husband's half chicken portion was huge!) I did really like that the sauces were serve yourself so you could try all 4. I would come back for another meal!

Yelp
The entirety of our experience at Heritage Smokehouse was top notch! We had a reservation for five after a showing of the Wild Robot at the Senator, just up the street. Not knowing exactly how close it was, we drove, and were pleasantly surprised to find several parking spots behind the restaurant, as well as plentiful street parking. We were greeted and welcomed immediately, and seated in the perfect sized booth. The server was quick to bring out water and even cute kiddie cups for the little ones, along with menus and a verbal version of the kids menu selections. I wish I had taken pics of the kids items, but rest assured they are generous sized meals. We both said, nearly in sync, with our first bite down our throats, that it was the best BBQ we have ever had. And we are pretty well versed in Carolina and Southern BBQ. ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!!! The restaurant is very nicely decorated in a BBQ related theme, with other very cool older framed posters and cool other stuff. It wasn't loud at all, other than my kids, and well sized to handle a small crowd. The sauce bar is self service but our server also offered to gather the mix of sauces for us. I highly recommend you don't wait another second to check out Heritage Smokehouse! The only regret you'll have is not going!

Yelp
Appreciated the staff for finding us a table quickly without a reservation. Cool space for a solid meal. I got the sliced brisket sandwich and my wife got their chicken salad. We also got their potato salad. Everything tasted really good. No complaints. I would definitely come back.

Yelp
This place looks and tastes like 1986 in the best possible way. Walking in the door was like walking into my uncle's house in the suburbs of my childhood. Wooden paneling, taxidermied animals on the walls, shelves full of weird mugs behind the bar, and a tray full of hot sauces that are obscure and a little frightening. The brisket sandwich was amazing. The brisket was perfectly cooked and seasoned and it was served on a grilled bun with horseradish and onions. The collard greens were braised in some kind of amazing soup-like stock, and the brisket chili was addictive. I am so full right now and I already can't wait to go back.

Yelp
Hard to find a quality BBQ spot in Bmore, this is one of them. Smoked wings, carnitas tacos, ribs and brisket all really good. Friendly staff as well.

Patricia H.

Yelp
Pork sandwich was very lean. Ribs were very meaty, smoky and well seasoned. Fries, slaw and "honey butter" yeast roll were just meh. Very poor selection of sauces for a barbecue place. Pit Boss Old Fashioned was very nice. Nice atmosphere and staff.

Yelp
Everything was comfortable and fun. Nice happy hour then good dinner, great drinks, plenty to share.

Yelp
Delicious BBQ offerings, generous portions and great service. Looking forward to visiting again to try more menu items.

Yelp
The food was good, i was not expecting it be as good as it is. Definitely worth a visit when im nearby

Yelp
I legit don't know how anyone can give this place less than 5 Stars. Yes, it's a bit more expensive than the parboiled BBQ you get elsewhere, but this is BBQ at its highest expression. Next level. Also, their cocktail/bar program will have you apologizing to the hipster in your life for ever criticizing/mocking them. You will thank them and their ironic handlebar mustaches for pushing the cocktail game to the next level as you sip on something at the bar here. I get it - it's a bit pricey, but it's worth it.

Yelp
The food quality is top notch. Cornbread- cake like and moist. It had a hint of sweetness and the honey butter added some richness and a touch more sweetness but mostly savory. Brisket- was tender to perfection. The meat is not heavily seasoned but the sauces provided at the condiments section make up for it. There was a sweet bbq sauce and a mustard sauce that was acidic and very flavorful. Pinto beans- under seasoned but were perfectly cooked. Needed salt. Pickle- were mild in flavor but good. Mac and cheese was great. Although it needed more salt, the cheese was high quality and great natural flavor with great creamy consistency. My friend had the brisket sandwich which he enjoyed very much. He also had the fries with gravy. The fries were great!!!! Even adding the mustard sauce brought it to a new level for me. It didn't need the mustard but it was great. I will definitely come back. The ambiance was nice. It had a bar as well where people sat and talked. It is a lively but not extremely noisy. A nice spot to go to on a Friday evening. The service was a bit slow at first. I had a reservation and the table was not ready when I arrived. I had to wait an additional 10 mins but the staff were very nice and kind. The waitresses were attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and very helpful. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time.

Stacy M.

Yelp
Amazing food and fantastic service. Wings, burgers, ribs!!! And save room for the homemade desserts!!!!!!Heritage never disappoints!

Cindy D.

Yelp
I've had my eye on this place for a while and finally tried it. This place has that great local town vibe and the food is humbly phenomenal. Brisket was exactly how I'd imagine it should taste. Who knew green beans could taste so good. Maybe it's the ham hock flavor throughout. The pork shank tacos were damn good for a BBQ joint. I'd bet their tacos are just as good as the west coast taco trucks. Also great service and beer to complement the food.
google avatar

Joe E.

Yelp
In a town full of renowned pit beef, can you justify $18 for a ham sandwich? Excellent--really excellent--cocktail program served at a fantastic bar. Terrific service.
google avatar

Lisa V.

Yelp
Everything was delicious- the meats were really yummy, and the sides weee yummy. Service was attentive. Friendly vibe in the place. My only concern is that it seemed quite expensive for what we got.
google avatar

Michael B.

Yelp
I like the location. The ambiance is good. Good parking. The food is no better than chains like Famous Dave's or Mission BBQ and the portions are way too small for the price. No one went out of their way for service. None of the food was hot.
google avatar

Jemaleddin C.

Yelp
Fantastic meats, incredible sauces, amazing cocktails - brought to you by fast friendly servers. Great vibes pair well with the best barbecue in the city. A personal fave in North Baltimore.

Shay R.

Yelp
Ate there on a Thursday night with 3 others and had a fantastic meal and loved the vibe. Service was fantastic throughout- we were greeted right away and attended to regularly, but in a very friendly, non-pushy way. I ordered the brisket sandwich and the empanada... I would absolutely order both again, which could be tough if I want to try other dishes in the future! My Old Fashioned cocktail was delicious and our friends who ordered a Painkiller were all thumbs up for that as well. Others in the group ordered the catfish, hot sausage, kale salad, and the burger, and we only requested the tiniest of boxes to take home the leftover empanada (just could not fit another bite in!). While it's not food we can eat on the regular if we want to feel okay health-wise... we had a great experience and will return again. Please give it a chance if you're in the mood for BBQ!

Yelp
Cute and quaint restaurant off York rd. I rode by this place a few times and had no idea but this day I had been craving bbq and this restaurant was the closest to my location. Sat at the bar but the hostess was very helpful, pointing out where the sauces, napkins and utensils were. Bartender was also very helpful. I told him I was new to drinking bourbon and this recommendation was on point. Food was hot and flavorful, and I would definitely go back.
google avatar

Meg M.

Yelp
This place is a GEM!! One of the best eats in Baltimore - the Ron Swanson, some sides and a few friends is all you need! :)
google avatar

Kenneth L.

Yelp
This place is about quality. Just to get it out of the way, portion sizes are smaller than other BBQ places but wow. We came with the expectations that it would be like every other place but maybe the flavor would be better. Naw, the quality of their plates is significantly better than other places out there. The crispy pork was devine and deserves more attention. The chef in the back deserves all sorts of accolades and more. We will definitely be back at an earlier hour since they do sell out as others mention. If with 3+ people, get the Ron Swanson.
google avatar

Bradford P.

Yelp
I always enjoy this place -- the food, the people, the knotty-pine, and the family-friendly ambiance! The friendly chef-owners George and Jen are well-trained, hands-on, and supervise everything, personally. The staff are kind, good-natured, attentive and treated like family. The tender, smoked meats melt in your mouth! I love the beef brisket, but they also have pork, chicken, spare ribs and German sausages. I feel like I'm back in the Texas Hill Country, with my buddies from campus! They offer a very nice assortment of eight beers on draft, as many brands in cans or bottles, wine, and cocktails. They have a long bar and several booths.
google avatar

Lorelei M.

Yelp
Delicious brisket. The brisket melts in your mouth. The collard greens were prepared perfectly. We will visit them again.
google avatar

Sparkle M.

Yelp
Pretty solid Mac and cheese and I really liked the banana pudding but serving size could be a little larger for price. I ordered the half chicken and initially enjoyed it. However, the inside was pretty pink and looked undercooked which was disappointing.

Yelp
I fiiiiiinally made it to Heritage, and let me just say, it was a nomtastic adventure! They recently changed up their menu (for Oktoberfest shenanigans), but most of the yums I tried are still available. SO, here's what I got: Brisket: juicy, tender, and magical! You'll wanna get a plate of this heavenly meat goodness to share. It's the kind of melt-in-your-mouth delight that makes you wanna do a happy food dance. 1/2 Rack of Ribs: my friends couldn't get enough of these babies! They were solid, but for me the pork shoulder reigned supreme. Shaved Pork Shoulder: this stole my heart. I got this as a platter, but I'll probably enjoy it in sandwich form the next time I go back. Oh, and before I forget, the platters come with spicy pickles and a honey butter yeast roll. Sides: we got mac & cheese, creamy coleslaw, and potato salad, and they were all crushable. Highly recommend each one. Dessert: we got their chocolate cake and banana pudding! The banana pudding was, dare I say, exceptional? =P It hit that perfect balance of sweetness without going overboard. 10/10 experience. If you're craving BBQ in Baltimore, Heritage is the move.

Yelp
Excellent brisket! Comfortable environment, good service. Nothing fancy, but the food is amazing.

Yelp
I've been to Heritage Smokehouse twice now. The first time was in the evening of a pretty busy Saturday night so they were out of almost every meat except for a few sausages. We ordered some sausages and almost every single side. I really enjoyed the dirty rice and potato salad! The next time, we came on a Sunday afternoon and it was pretty quiet inside. We ordered a rack of ribs, brisket, braised green beans, and mac and cheese. The ribs were fall of the bone tender and the brisker was super tender too. The seasoning on the meat was perfect and delicious. They also have a sauce bar where you can choose different sauces. I wasn't a fan of the mac and cheese - maybe too dry for me. Overall, would definitely come back for the meats and hopefully it's not a day that they run out!

Cs N.

Yelp
The food is so so good here. Service is great, space is charming, drinks are fab. Best empanada in ages, brisket and peppers and chickpeas. Excellent coleslaw.

Malii 2.

Yelp
First time here, Might I say this was the best food my taste buds have ever experienced. I loved the mac and cheese. The cheese they use is so golden. I would rate everything a 6 star but I can't so sadly i have to settle with a 5 star. Love Love Love!!!!

H H.

Yelp
Food is amazing! From appetizers, to smoked foods, to large plates. Everything is made in house with consideration and is delicious. Favorites are smoked spicy wings, homemade sausages (especially Kasekrainer with the melted oozing cheese), shaved pit pork, ribs, and chicken. ALL of the sides are yummy, including daily made honey butter yeast roll. Don't skip desserts of chocolate cake and peanut butter pie!
google avatar

Mark P.

Yelp
Very uneven service. Saturday 5pm & only had 1 glass of ice tea. Told they were out. Ok, diet coke then. Umm only 2 diet cokes ordered until their out. Really??. $12 sliver of vanilla bean cheesecake & no raspberries on it. Waited & waited for it to no avail. Overpriced, small portions. Literally a tablespoon of Cole slaw with sandwiches. Brisket & half chicken was good though

Yelp
Would have liked it more if I had gotten there before most of the featured items were sold out! Get there early.

Yelp
I really enjoy this restaurant. It was an experience from the rolls to the beans and beyond. The bartender and all other servers were great as well. Pricing was average. There is street parking at well as little parking in the back of the restaurant .

Jennifer S.

Yelp
This was special! I can honestly say I've never had brisket this good before! The ribs were also excellent! The sauces were delicious and acted as the cherry on top because the meat was amazing without them. Our server was friendly and attentive. I also love the cozy eclectic decor. I am excited to go back and will order the ribs and brisket again! This was a great experience

Yelp
I am so grateful my friends invited me to dinner at the Heritage Smokehouse. This fine establishment makes a mean brisket , perfectly fall off the bone cooked Brisket that was flavored just right! The mashed sweet potatoes with herbed butter far exceeded my expectations and is a must have side. Each person lucky enough to have some of the fried pork belly made audible joyous sounds as they ate the delectable morsels. Loved it! I took my peanut butter pie home, the toffee pretzels made a crunchy contrast to the sweet (but not too sweet) treat. I cannot wait to go back! The Schweinsaxe (not sure if spelling is right) was pretty cool looking and the meat melted in your mouth. Worth sharing! The drink names match the vibe. Five stars for this fine establishment! Cheers to I can go there again!

Yelp
Met up with some friends here I'll get the bad out of the way. Parking is limited. I was flying solo - a lonely trip and found that there was a very small lot. I parked on Bellona. If you're going on a weekend night, when it's more busy, you're probably SOL with their parking. So plan ahead, get creative or Blaze On. The good ! Service was good & cheerful and food outstanding. I followed my friend Page's lead and went with a brisket sandwich which was delectable. (Page digs sandwiches). Think the roll was fresh and had more ample butter. Good stuff for sure. A buddy swears they have the best ribs he's every had. And I like drink selection. Hope I get back here
