"While Missouri might be the last place you’d pick for a wine-country getaway, the state is actually home to several vineyards. In the 1830s, German farmers settled in the area between Hermann and New Haven and began growing grapes and making wine, setting the stage for what is now the 25-mile Hermann Wine Trail. Today, the picturesque path snakes along the Missouri River and features seven wineries, including Adam Puchta Winery (the oldest continuously owned family winery in the country), Bias Vineyards, Dierberg Star Lane, Hermannhof Winery (known for its fantastic New World white), OakGlenn Vineyards (situated on a bluff with stunning views), Röbller Vineyard (a dog-friendly spot), and Stone Hill Winery (home to the delicious Vintage Restaurant). A trolley runs between the wineries so you don’t have to worry about designated drivers, and quaint B&Bs line the trail should you want to make a weekend out of your visit."
This tour was SO fun! The scenery is spectacular. Make sure you ride the trolley. The drivers are very knowledgeable and make the whole experience. They were singing with us and gave info on each place we went. The little town is also so cute. They have some awesome bed and breakfasts and shops you could stay in for days. Sugar Mommas bakery has the best pie ever! Also, make sure you visit the chocolate candy place and the cheese and sausage store. Overall a great experience and I would go back everyday!

This was such a fun experience! I would highly recommend it. The country is beautiful and everyone is warm and friendly. All of the winery's along the trail offer wine tasting and snacks while enjoying the site's and cellars. It's a must do for this area in Hermann!

I have been on the Cheese Wine Trail and the Chocolate Wine Trail. They were both amazing! I can’t wait to try all the others! Love the history of the town and the wineries.

I just participated in the Chocolate Wine Trail. I had mixed feelings. Since this was a February event, it would be nice if each winery could plan better for the cold temps. Adam Puchta did the best job - had a large tent with plenty of seating and a heater blowing in the tent. It would be nice if the other wineries that are too small to house a large group could do something similar. I had to stand and eat/drink at 3 of the locations (not ideal). It would also be nice for the employees to try and pour the same amount of wine (and for some of the wineries to increase the amount poured - at 1 of the wineries I don't think the pour was even 1/4 an inch - maybe 3 sips) For how tiny the glasses are, I would think you could at least fill it 1/3 full. I was also surprised to see Robller as part of the trail since it is about a 20 minute drive from Hermann.
The positive - there were some great pairings - the mousse, chocolate chip muffins and cheesecake bars were my favorites of the day!

The Food to Table Pairing was awesome and we thoroughly enjoyed the venue. The mediocre rating stems from the speeding ticket we received from one of Hermann’s finest. As we departed Reserve Cellars headed towards town we were laughing and talking and enjoying the day. When we made the curve we saw the police car and wondered if there was a posted speed limit but it was too late. He pulled us over and gave the driver a ticket. Not sure this is the kind of negative publicity you want for a tourist filled event. Filling the city’s coffers during a public event is not a good image.
