The 34 Best Restaurants in Madrid, Spain | Eater

"Madrid is well known for aperitivo hour, the moment in the afternoon when friends and family gather at a bar to enjoy vermouth and bites of pickled snacks. Hermanos Vinagre gives the tradition a charming update starting with the bar itself, replacing the usual, old-school decor with exquisite design from Cristina Carullo. Cañas and vermouths hit the steel bar alongside gildas, cockles with chile sauce, escabeche ahumado (mussels with smoked brine), or ox chorizo. The modern take has proven successful with locals; the owners opened a second location in the Chueca neighborhood and a third location in the Chamberí neighborhood. Know before you go: The location in the Chamberí neighborhood has a “warm dishes” menu, with items like steak and calamari sandwiches, garlic shrimp, or fried eggs with potatoes." - Paula Móvil

Small portions. Regular experience. The Tuna Muxama is minimal. Good Bocadillo de Calamares.

Modern twist on the classic - very busy but relaxed atmosphere with outstanding food and drinks. If you’re a bigger group I would reccomend booking. My personal favourite was the tuna. Great place for a relaxed evening with friends.

Hermanos Vinagre is a MUST when you visit Madrid. Get ready to share delicious food that is prepared in a very unique way. Don’t forget to order the anchovies and butter over crispy bread, the fresh tuna, the ham croquettes and the calamari bocata. These are in my opinion their best dishes and you cannot miss them. David is a lovely server, but everyone is friendly!

Great food but very trendy so expect some wait

Great place for small plates centered around sardines, boquerones, pickles and enlatados and other small bites. They have many jerez options by the glass too. It’s a chill casual atmosphere. I highly recommend their crispy pig ears with a bit of lemon.

This is where the cool kids hang out. Super cool traditional “taberna” mixed with the design of a diner. Locals old and young. Order the egg and chicken croquettes and the “bocadillo calamares” you won’t regret it. Best of all, alcohol free beer on tap. Cold as ice! You can also buy merch

The food is good, the bocadillo de calamares is delicious but the portions are really, really small and it’s expensive for the size.
