The Hermosa Saloon is an incredible place. It has been in Hermosa Beach for as long as I have been living here which is at least 10 to 20 years. Across the street they have full-blown concerts with excellent bands. Prior to going to the concert it is best to go to the Hermosa Daloon for a warm-up cocktail. Check out the pictures of the surf which is just a couple of blocks away from the saloon.

Had a great time at Hermosa Saloon on a Thursday night! Sara was our bartender, and she was awesome — loved her dry sense of humor and great service. The juke box kept the vibe going, and the laid-back feel of the bar made it a perfect spot to unwind.

Linda Lockwood

Google
A very cool "happening place!" Entertainment was first class. Singer Kara Turner and her band brought the house down. The rafters rocked and so did we! She was "really good"...a sound you'd expect to hear on the radio. Amazing...goosebumpy! If you just want a night out...this is the way to go. They draw a good local crowd of super people...(one high profile T.V. actor was there with his beautiful lady) all there to have fun...dance the night away. Drinks are what they should be and there is enough staff to keep it flowing. Ambiance is casual, relaxed atmosphere and the music takes you away from the hassle of everyday life. One to remember!

Google
A casual and unpretentious bar just a bit off the beaten path. Nothing fancy, just a fun place for a beer with friends. Nice little “back patio” with corn hole set up. We had trouble playing the songs we wanted on the juke box. It took the money but we could not seem to get the songs to play. Maybe we did not wait long enough or we had some other “operator error”! Google
This is a University of Georgia bar. I was there for the Rose Bowl and thought I'd drop in. It's a nice bar with good patrons. They have a good selection of local draft beers, the bartenders are friendly and prices are fair.

Lea Phillips

Google
Love this bar. All the bartenders are super nice. There is a lot of room for you and all your friends. And don't worry if you show up alone, the patrons are all friendly as well. Every time I go, I end up having a good conversation with someone. They have pool and an old school ring toss, so you will be entertained. They also have karaoke on Sundays! You can also bring your own food. What more could you ask for.

Google
It Sucks! It doesn't compare now to how it use to be. It use to be my local(dive) bar, which I love! In the 90's or early 2000's you could find me there 2 or 3X's a week if not more. It was a happening spot, not so much now. Everytime I steep in its dead! I even played there 3X's back in the day when it was a cool spot to hang out at!

Good music, good drinks, and good friends. What else could you possibly need.

Yelp
It's okay, I guess. We were there to see a friend's band and I wish we hadn't bothered. The band was great, the rest wasn't worth it. There seemed to be a serving difference vibe between the locals and those of us who weren't, including strength of the drinks. The floor in front of the stage is deadly, and while there is a stripe of carpet that maybe is supposed to make people aware of the crazy drop, it's dark and people don't know why it's like that and many just kept tripping and falling. I swear it's a lawsuit in the making. The metal ring game would be amusing if it hadn't been for some drunk guys at the table next to us thinking it might be fun to continuously toss it in our direction. I don't see any reason to go back.

Yelp
We came in last minute for a few cocktails and the bartender was very kind and welcoming. They don't have a menu so prepare to have a drink in mind. We got a few cranberry vodka's and were done perfectly! The place was clean and refreshing. It was not busy but appreciated.

Yelp
My friends turned me on to Hermosa Saloon when they invited me out to watch a Georgia football game. Yup, I learned it's a local gathering spot for Georgia alums and fans. What a great vibe! Everyone was friendly, fun and welcoming - didn't run into any belligerent meatheads. The establishment appears to be well-run and it's clean and bright. What a fun spot, can't wait to return! A solid 4 stars, trending UP!

Matthew M.

Yelp
What a great bartender you are I will definitely be back. Thank you Cecilia for serving me and my friend, we love the ring game and the free burgers on the patio. Wow I will definitely be back.

Yelp
Parking is not great, no food, and nothing but Trump regulars. The drinks are ok and just reminds me of a local regular bar that are funded by the rich locals in the area

Yelp
A fun place to watch folks as you sip on whatever makes you happy. If you're situated in the perfect spot, you can watch the progression of your fellow participants slowly slip into the abyss of bliss. The saloon is very much that. You enter the front through swinging doors and find yourself in the midst of rustic exposed beams, wood paneling, and at the foot of a large, fully stocked J shaped bar. You won't find sawdust on the floor, or old school saloon girls plying their wares, but you will find their modern equivalent behind the bar serving up your pleasure. These beautiful tenders pour, mix, and serve with a smile. They'll earn your generous tips. As you make your way out the back door, you'll pass by a pool table and into a patio filled with open air seating. A great place to unwind in the fresh Hermosa air, and far from the bustling crowd inside. And it can get bustling inside. Especially when there's live music. Hermosa Saloon is a popular place, where you'll find a good mix of locals and those from out of town. Quick Tip: The patio out back makes this place more enjoyable. Umbrella shade during the day, and propane fire pits to insulate you from the nights chill. As if the drinks won't be doing that. Uber is very familiar with Hermosa Saloon, and for good reason. I made mention of the beautiful tenders, well they mix some pretty stiff drinks too.

Yelp
The Hermosa Saloon is a fantastic place to have an event. We had a retirement party here and Kenny made it such an easy event to plan and coordinate with his fabulous staff. We had about 80 guests. We started on the open-air patio where we served "Street Tacos" and had Wais (a single-man musician) play for 2-hours. We then moved inside with the Purple Sugar Band for another 2+ hours of great music and dancing. If you need a local location for any event, the Hermosa Saloon is the spot. Plenty of local parking available to make it easier for your guests. Or if you just want to stop in for a drink at a very chill place with a great vibe and that's not one of the spots on the pier, this is the place. Please note, this is a bar, so your guests have to be over 21 years of age.

Yelp
Recently reopened, I would've never known if not for my girl Jess. Speaking of Jess, if you're a day drinker and want to have an incredible time, come when she's behind the bar (Monday and Friday 12-5). Dive bar vibes but no dive bar food staples like chips/pretzels/nuts. However, there are multiple eateries on the same block. I'm sure soon there will be live music perhaps even comedy but for now there's a great music system.

Steve H.

Yelp
Nice little pub that I could walk to from the Holiday Inn Express and was able to watch football there. They don't serve food but I stepped next door to Domino's and grabbed a pizza and brought it back over to eat. All good and I will return.
google avatar

Joyce T.

Yelp
Medium sized bar with side tables and chairs. Small stage area. Attentive bartender. We didn't wait long to put our order in and enjoy. Looks like a lot of happy locals frequent the bar area and all seemed to know each other well. A more of a chill place. No flashy signs or decorations. Music is the feature here.

Theodore H.

Yelp
Fun place a block from hotel made for the only repeat visit in recent trip to area for weekend. Streaming music Friday and live band Saturday. Busy but bartenders were quick.
google avatar

Diana R.

Yelp
Wow! Come here now!!!! Hailey & Kevin know what's up! Just tell'em what you want and it's made to order. Kevin's signature drink #rampage is exquisite!

Yelp
$5 cover after 9 PM on Saturday night (probably Friday too). We frequently get Domino's takeout next door to Hermosa Saloon so we've always been curious to stop by. We came around 9:30 on a Saturday night and were first greeted by the cover. $5 is really not bad especially with live music and decently priced drinks. The band was pretty good. At a glance, I could've sworn Ted Danson was playing the bass. And this was pre-drinks, so he must've really looked like him. There was a good amount of people already in the bar but it was not crowded. We easily found two spots at the bar to sit. Bartenders were fairly attentive to taking drink orders. It's about $6.50 a shot and ~$7 or $8 for Blue Moon on draft. But if you're looking for lots of booze and a deal, coming from the bartender himself, one gets LIIT (Long Island Iced Tea) for about $10/$11 for four shots. There is a pool table in the back room with quarters available for you to play anytime. There was no one waiting until around 10:30 so we could've easily played several rounds. Overall the atmosphere is laid back and fun. A couple brought in Mexican take out and the bartender was eating their chips with them. At one point, one of them took a shot with a group. This is totally the vibe I can get down with. Perfect place to cut loose and just hang out!

Cutis S.

Yelp
Never coming back again they charged me a 20$ cheap tequila on my card when it's supposed to be 8$ and I did tip
google avatar

Yelp
Great staff and very welcoming locals. This is a very down to earth place for a beach city. They welcomed me as even though I only visit when traveling to LA. They let me run across the street to Rosas, bring back dinner and eat at the bar. The bartender Razor has fantastic puzzles for the guests to include rope and bottle tricks. The other bartenders remember drinks and just ask if you want the usual, not bad for someone visiting once or twice a month. Great atmosphere.
google avatar

Lisa K.

Yelp
The bartender was rude and the guest sitting on my right was an asshole. I don't recommend this bar and I definitely won't be back.
google avatar

R Scott S.

Yelp
Terrible service...bartenders only paid attention to regulars and far side of the bar....only going back if a good band is playing!
google avatar

Jenny R.

Yelp
TIP: only pay w cash. They over charge every time I've been there and used a card. Extra drinks just show up on your bill. It took a few friends to help realize the scam. In the rush to leave I signed my tab and left. Looking at it later it was about $30 more than it should have been. Our friends who left earlier than us, I hear had to argue w the bartender because his bill was WAY more than it should have been as well. It's a cool bar. Bartenders are attentive to get your drinks but be careful cause during shows or events and that place is packed...they'll charge you for more than you bought.
google avatar

Erica M.

Yelp
Love this place! Super impressed with all the new renovations and the outside patio. They now have an awesome new band playing called Southbay Acoustic, this duo rocks! They play every second and fourth Saturday from 4-7. Miss the bartender Razor though!
google avatar

Vanessa E.

Yelp
Bartender tried overcharging us $100. When we questioned our tab and asked for itemized receipts, the (short, male) bartender told us that we better pay or else he was going to call the cops. The manager intervened and removed the drinks we didn't order. I don't usually write negative reviews but they were trying to steal our money. I've never had an unethical and unprofessional experience like this, at any business in my entire life.
google avatar

Yelp
Great local watering hole for local residents. I came here for my first visit recently when my sister's friend was playing in the band. The vibe is pretty divey, with many people coming straight from the beach in flip flops and beachwear on the weekends. Very casual vibe. Pro's are live music, large bar for ordering, multiple bartenders (at least on saturday night), and lots of fun people. I also enjoyed the kisok games, as photo hunt is a nostalgic favorite from childhood and college. I thoroughly enjoyed the two bands that were playing that evening too! For me, this is probably not my type of bar that I would go to with friends on a regular basis, but it was fun to go with my sister and her older friends. Well drinks run $7, which I don't find terribly expensive.
google avatar

Sonya T.

Yelp
Kirk the bartender was a big Asshole! I had 1 drink & 1 shot and he wouldn't serve me after that. It was a Wednesday night. I won't ever go back to that shitty bar again, the locals can have it there are plenty of better ones surrounding it!
google avatar

Yelp
It's freaking so cold in my house and when I came out my hood it was freaking so hot with cali sunshine. Therefore I needed a bubbles. I always trying something new and hip, so I'm glad I'm trying this drink it's called Dutch mule. It's vodka based. Better than beer, ? I guess lol pretty much working and drinking at the same time but hey, it's almost Christmas and have not much work. So this is what I do. Drinking at breakfast. I'm cutting down the caffeine intake so ya this covers! Cheers!!!!!

Yelp
Ladies, be prepared to get hit on a lot! I don't think I've ever walked into a bar and had so many men smile at me for the few hours I spent at Hermosa Saloon. I wasn't particularly looking my best either. Came in with a group of friends. We looked around and almost walked out.. We felt way too young to be in this 45 and up crowd. But the bartenders were welcoming and the drinks were cheap and strong. And if you flash that smile at the flirty bartender men, they top your drink off for ya. Just make sure you bring plenty of cash because they don't accept your cards. There is an ATM available if you forget to bring the green. Pool table, an area for a live band to perform, and a dance floor which according to Hugo C., that's where the honeys are at! Juke box and a computer game where you compare the differences between photos of naked ladies. I would love to share the dirty name we called that game but it might induce flagging and I really like my Elite badge ;) Parking is easy because there's a free lot in the back which is a plus for Hermosa Beach. They also have a water cooler with cups easily accessible by the jukebox. But ladies, if you drink lots of water, bring a friend with you to the ladies room. There are three doors to get through but no locks. This is where the buddy system comes in handy. A strange turn of events happend around a quarter to 1AM...suddenly the bar filled with people closer to our age. Karey R. became BFF's with a drunk cougar. But the moment Karey realized that this bar was filled with 85%+ men, she suggested we leave. And because Karey has always protected me like a sister, I listen!

Yelp
Big fan of this place. I've been there four times and every time has been great. Bartenders are great, drinks are good, and the live entertainment is great too. Last time we were there, a Johnny Cash tribute band played "Cashed Out" and they were really good. Check the marquee and you're bound to find something you like. In the mean time, go get a drink and have a great time chatting with the bartenders. They are all cool.
google avatar

Naomi K.

Yelp
What a dive!! There's a cool spot to relax when the other bars close early. I would have really liked this place except for the fact that my whiskey neat had not one, but TWO dead fruit flies in the bottom of it. I think no one was drinking from that bottle and maybe the fell off the shelf and into the glass, or even worse, they might have been trapped in the bottle. It was nevertheless a little gross- that's why I like my stuff with higher proof- it kills off the germs! The Friday band was cool- a fun group with the guitarist who positioned a fan blowing in his face to give a windblown look, very quality entertainment. The bathrooms had way too many swinging doors in it- maybe to keep the drunk guys out? At least this place has good visibility from the PCH. And people- don't forget to take a taxi after. We saw an awful car wreck-- split a lamppost, so not worth it!

Anthony R.

Yelp
came in to the saloon for a few drinks and to watch the Kings game. This place is bigger than it looks from the outside and also very clean, our bartenders name was Richard he was very helpful and also had great energy would definitely recommend this place to others. They have a pool table in the back room and a decent sized patio area. I did not see a dart board hopefully they get one soon. overall we had a great time and will be going back soon.
google avatar

Paul J.

Yelp
Everything a great dive bar should be. Shabby, smelly and wonderful! Heavy pours from friendly bartenders. Locals, drunks and plenty of opportunities for madness. They have some great bands, pool table in the back and really nasty bathrooms, just as they should be! Rock on Hermosa Saloon and continue to deliver some of the best times we'll never remember!!!!

Josh M.

Yelp
First time coming here since the remodel. Breaks my heart to see the place now. They removed all the character and charm this place has accumulated over the years and now it feels like a big empty room where sad people can drink. Why the owner would actually pay money to have a contractor do this to his bar is beyond my understanding. I will say the new patio out back is nice but they didn't have to destroy the inside of this place trying to make improvements. They also let go of the best bartender in the South Bay shortly after the remodel. No reason to go back there again. They really should rename it because the real Hermosa Saloon doesn't exist anymore.
google avatar

Keith M.

Yelp
This was a good dive bar.... started charging $5 cover may 2019. For a bad cover band, pretty terrible. Even worse the principle of the cover is keeping other regulars away.
google avatar

John C.

Yelp
Very easy-going vibe here. The bartenders are very friendly and entertaining with stories and even magic tricks. We couldn't stay long enough to see the band but it looked like it would have been lots of fun
google avatar

Tom H.

Yelp
Decent dive bar in Hermosa. Drinks aren't dirt cheap but reasonably priced. I recognize a few of the bartenders who used to work at UG/Chelsea. Not a bad place to grab a cold one and watch some live music.
google avatar

Christina T.

Yelp
I am SOOO glad this place is walking distance from my pad. It's I had been on the lookout for a new dive since moving to the area recently and I'm stoked I found this place. The staff is SUPER friendly and the drinks are great! (I had a Long Island Iced Tea a couple of weeks ago would knock your socks off. ) And if you don't like mixed drinks they've got a great variety of beers on tap. They've got a pool table, AMI Jukebox, a HUGE screen TV and every Friday night, they have live music. You gots to drop by.
google avatar

Nate P.

Yelp
Just left here this afternoon. Older senior citizen bartender was awkard with ny fiance. Then he charged me 20$ on my account after i only paid 16$. Im currently on hold with chase fraud dept. Also my 2 shots were poured uneven. This place is silent and cold like a haunted basement.
google avatar

Marcela H.

Yelp
Not bad.. The Good: - Live music on Saturdays - Cheap drinks - Xbox motion sensor console (we bowled the night away!) Downside: - Cash only but they have an ATM machine - Indoor "outside" smoking area. Apparently having a ceiling fan in a tiny room makes it okay to chain smoke. Second hand smoke much? Just on Saturday nights, thank you very much. - Not the cutest people if you're looking to pick-up. Mostly filled with middle-aged locals whose wardrobe is still stuck in the early 1980's
google avatar

Adam K.

Yelp
It's a fun place, and a great sports bar, but they don't serve food, which a very big drawback.
google avatar

Gene Y.

Yelp
Me and wife went to see a live band my friend was playing in. The place was packed by 9pm, every seat at the bar was taken. The alcohol prices were not expensive and there were actually seats available by the live band. There is nothing like a live band playing classic oldies! They play for tips and drinks. The people inside were also cool. Worth it, will be back! Tips: 1) Parking lot in back, rear entrance.
google avatar

Dominick F.

Yelp
Chicks dig me there, Lesbians love me. Sports fans get me, and locals want to do shots all night long. They say you can never go back home, well it doesn't apply there. Just stay away from the Canadians with big hooters, and you'll be fine. With Love, Dom The Mover
google avatar

Poulter S.

Yelp
Love love this place. The pours are great and all the different walks of life. This bar is truly Hermosa with its whole age range. Curt the bartender is fabulous. All the servers are nice and friendly. Great hang out with your partner and friends.

Chris S.

Yelp
Awesome job on the remodel! Great service and prices! The new outdoor patio are is super nice and the bartenders are great!
google avatar

ChickaPea P.

Yelp
Old skool dive bar but very clean and well kept! The crowd can be a bit older but if you are looking for a mellow spot to grab a beer I say worth a try. They have a list of bands on the weekends and there is a good amount of seating considering the place is on the smaller side. Great lil casual spot.
google avatar

Joshua A.

Yelp
Friendly bartenders and fantastic (though not "dive bar" cheap) beers on tap. Comfortable bar stools, well placed TVs, and good lighting. They keep the temperature nice and cozy during a cold (for LA) night. Oh and the video games are cool...PHOTO HUNT! My wife and I (JH) got top score...
google avatar

Lucy Y.

Yelp
Why am I a fan after coming here with friends tonight? * Free parking in the back * A great live band * Cheap drinks (according to my drinking friends) * Easy access to water and cups (for this non-drinker) * Pool table in the back * Interesting mixed crowd Yep, I'd come back!
google avatar

Schel H.

Yelp
So this bar has 3 things going for it. 1. Lots of fake and bake MILFs with bolt on accessories 2. Kings Fan bar 3. some live bands depending on the night Otherwise its a typical bar without any differences. Definitely a well to do crowd comes here. Lots of interesting characters here to dance, listen to muzak, and watch kings games when they are on. The bartenders could be straight out of the IE... absolutely insane situation. It was also weird that my date was one of three folks who wasnt white here... very odd for los angeles to say the least... The drinks were average priced, but nothing special. They were average pours for an avg price. The bar layout wasnt the most conducive to a good time, but it worked out in the end. Half the bar cant see the dance floor or the band or the big screen where they would show the games. However there are several additional TVs located in the corners on the bar side. We had a great time, but it definitely has a few oddities and wouldnt be my hangout even if I lived in the area. For a random night in a random area, it did provide a good amount of fun I will admit.
google avatar

Maria B.

Yelp
My friend and I stumbled into this place for the first time on a Friday night. I had been pre-drinking so I can't remember the time. It had enough people to make it seem worth giving it a try and a live band! First thing we notice is it's mostly men in here.. no complaints. We quickly found a seat at the bar and went right into the socializing with the nearest men. Eventually... ended up dancing to the live band, getting hit on by the singer, the bartender, and several other men. Pros: Free parking Free admission No lines No waiting to sit at the bar No waiting to order a drink Chill bar Lots of cool friendly men = free drinks = good times Diverse crowd.. all ages Live band.. woohoo! Dance floor Cons: Smells terrible.. like an ash tray You'll leave the place smelling the same Old crowd.. which is fine if you're old Not a place to pick up hot guys

Yelp
A great little dive bar in yuppie heaven? It almost seems out of place in Hermosa Beach, but trust me, this is a true dive! Push your way through the double swinging saloon doors and get greeted by Razor, the biker door man / bouncer who sports a gnarly fu manchu. He's kinda gruff, but really nice. Not so nice that he won't throw some drunk prick out on his face though. I've seen it. Don't be a drunk prick, cuz it will probably hurt! Heavy handed pouring from the bartenders and decent beer prices keep the people drunk while various cover bands entertain. They are a little limited on tapped beer, but Sierra Nevada always does me right. The crowd is all over the map and all are friendly and chatty. Mostly middle aged blue collar types, w/ a few youngsters thrown in. It's really small and not a meat market, so I think that steers the youngins down to the pier. Only negative (or positive - depending on the person) is that it's a smoking establishment. Be prepared to come home smelling like an ashtray. Ahh, the memories. If you get tired of the Pitcher House, this place is right across the street next to Domino's. Give it a shot!
google avatar

Emma C.

Yelp
Fabulous dive bar with chill people! Be careful with the doors, they can be dangerous (esp on your way out after a few drinks). The bartenders are very nice and make yummy STRONG drinks. A good mixed crowd like Brian s. said. There were two decent bands playing when I went and the atmosphere was very chill, much more laid back than stuff at the pier. There's a pool table in the back as well as some foosball and some pinball games. They don't take credit/debit cards but there is an ATM inside so don't freak out if your a plastic freak like my friend who came with me. Drawback: when entering the woman's bathroom, be prepared to push thru 3 doors only to find ONE stall in a teeny space. Also there's no latch on the door so pray no one pushes it open or it will smack you in the face. Other than that, an all around a great place for a great night, I will def. be coming back here soon!
google avatar

Allison B.

Yelp
This is the best bar in Hermosa because it's the only one where it is possible to go and have a drink and a conversation with someone without having to look at a Tv. Also: foosball, darts, pinball, very friendly staff, and a take-one-leave-one book shelf. The only knock against it is the limited selection of beer on tap.

Yelp
Looked forward to visiting this staple of Hermosa Beach. Lots of rave reviews here on Yelp; drink deals, heavy pours, food, wireless. Unfortunately, arrived and found out that THEY ALLOW SMOKING INSIDE the premises. Blecch. Whatever awesome deals they might have, I'll never know...what a shame.
