The Best Doughnuts in Nashville | Eater Nashville

"Over in Wedgewood Houston, the recently opened Hero Doughnuts and Buns holds court with its brioche-style yeast doughnuts that take two full days to make before they hit the bakery’s shelves. Hero originally started out as a pop-up in Birmingham, Alabama before spreading its wings throughout the South with its “OG” vanilla glazed, pistachio, and cereal milk doughnuts. Keep an eye out for the bread pudding doughnuts and apple fritters — they’re on a limited run and sell out fast." - Eater Staff

So, we on our infamous donut tour and this was one of our stops. It is tucked off 4th Ave and Chestnut. This food was amazing. The little cheese has browns were to die for. This is a chain restaurant but the staff was extremely hospitable and efficient The donuts were amazing, as they have off the wall flavors. My husband had the strawberry cream cheese and he loved it. They also have shakes too! Even was great and reasonably priced. The atmosphere was inviting.!!

Must-visit if you're in the area. Super tasty breakfast sandwiches and donuts! Manager Jay was very friendly and personally came around to each person to check on their satisfaction. Will definitely be back to try their burgers!

My friend wanted to go here because it was listed in the top 10 best donut shops in the country. I got 3 different donuts to try and a sausage, egg and cheese bun. The sandwich was delicious, and the bun was better than I expected. The jam they put on it is good, but doesn't add a whole lot. I wouldn't get the jam again. The donuts were... Okay, but they were kinda dry. I got the Boston Cream, blueberry cheesecake and lemon. The blueberry cheesecake was a ring donut with cheesecake pieces on top with a blueberry icing. We got there about 11am, which I think is early enough where the donuts wouldn't be dry yet? They did not live up to the hype IMO. Lets not forget the worst part is that you have to pay $5 to park to even get here. This isn't an issue with Hero, it's just where it's located. All 3 donuts - 6.5/10 Sandwich - 8.2/10

Let me start off by saying that atmosphere and great food can be hard to come by in Nashville. It's usually one or the other but HERO really takes the cake. From Autumn making the best shakes in town to Jay running the show, this was an absolutely wonderful experience. Please come out and support them in their quest to make Nashville food great!

I had never been in the shop until this morning and I won’t return. The one donut I got (the blueberry one) looked really good, but was hard as a brick and not just on the outside - I came in at about 7:30am. The coffee was weak and the disposable cup had chocolate (I didn’t order anything chocolate) and stained. The only good thing was the young man that waited on me, he was extra nice.

Google
The breakfast sandwiches are top notch but they regularly serve day old, dry donuts. Most Hero locations have great, fresh donuts but the Nashville one doesn’t. If you’re going here skip the donuts and get a freshly made sandwich.

Yelp
I wish they had healthier lunch options, expecially in this food dessert neighborhood. The greese burgers give the worst stomach aches ever. Its nice that there is something in walking distance, but could it be more health conscious? Customer service is always kind and friendly and the place is clean. Just wish the food was better.

Yelp
Fuck me this place is good. The bread pudding donut is the reason I can't have abs. I almost wish I didn't know this place existed, they're that good. I've never tried anything but the donuts so I can't speak to the savories and coffees but god DAMN these hoes can make a donut. That is a loving "hoes" okay don't dox me.

Yelp
Just walking in, not knowing what to expect except that it was a coffee shop with some substantial food choices and donuts. I was excited to see the bright white with red trim retro decor. The service was prompt and patient with me studying the menu. Since it was a bit after 9AM, I opted for the folded egg sandwich with a panko-crusted chicken breast. Deliciousness!!! I also had the hash browns, which were cubed-styled, topped with a yummy cheese sauce. Coke products (Sprite, Zero, Diet Coke, and Mr. Pibb!) with free self-serve refills and chewy ice. I had a chocolate-covered donut and a strawberry-covered donut. Both options were acceptable, but there was no specific justification for visiting solely for a donut. Next time, I intend to take on their bread pudding ring and/or apple fritter with one of the various coffee items.

Yelp
Donuts are tasty. I went at the end of day - so they were not the freshest, but the fluff was still intact. Staff was helpful about ingredients and flavors of the day. "Herochinno" milkshake was thick and modestly sweet. The store front is not easily seen by roadside. I drove by/missed the store twice thinking HERO did not exist even though GPS stated otherwise. Wish parking was more convenient. Either park in garage (1 hr free) or take a chance @ loading zone (15 min). Now that I have found the actual store and know the parking situation, I will give HERO another trial in the morning hours to receive fresher donuts.

Yelp
We've come to this Hero location a few times and it is a nice hidden gem for some of the best donuts in town. We've tried pretty much every donut place in town (Parlor, Foxs Donut Den, Five Daughters, etc) and Hero has to be our favorite. The employees have always been welcoming to us and quickly grab our donuts for us. The ambience is not going to blow your mind, but it certainly feels like an upscale donut shop. The donuts are truly the best I've had. Soft, delicious flavors, and at least 2-3 seasonal donuts which is always fun to swap things up. Even their plain glazed donut is top notch. Also, their cold brew coffee is one of my favorites in town and we look forward to it almost as much as the donuts. Give it a try and you wont be disappointed.

Yelp
A decent place. Plenty of potential. Pricing is roughly 40% above similar restaurants in the area bit if you're wealthy like most newer Nashville residents it's ain't no thing y'all. $4 per donut, sandwiches $10-$18 plus sides are extra, drinks $5-$8. Place is always empty, hope they figure it out!

Yelp
This is such a cool place to hang. It's such an old school diner vibe with the WeHo aesthetic in the area. The food was good and the team was very nice. I just ordered donuts from here for a work event too!

Yelp
So happy this is in The Wedgewood Houston area. The burgers did not disappoint. I had the secret menu donut burger, my hubs had the dad burger and we shared the Super Buffalo Crunch. The house made pickles are to die for! Aereon was the highlight of our visit. He was super professional, friendly and informative. Did I mention the fries & hash browns are delish too?? Definitely going back to try more donuts and their milkshakes.

Yelp
Super friendly! Fantastic pastries! I love small businesses that truly take pride in what they do!! Thank you!!!

Yelp
I bought from them at Richland farmers market. the Caucasian man saw me waiting in line and I simply asked him a question if he had more orange juice, because the person before me just took the last one on display. the Caucasian man / owner falsely accused me of jumping in line, when he clearly saw I waited in line for a long time. Not sure why he felt like lying and taking it out on me, something else he may have been upset with, or he simply is a liar.

Yelp
Great donut spot in wedgewood houston! Donuts were fresh and so tasty! Also got the sausage, bacon and cheese buns that were so good too! Highly recommend as a hidden gem in Nashville!

Yelp
The kind young man in the front recommended me a double classic burger and it was so delicious. The customer service was amazing.
