The hotel is a paradise in a carefully maintained medieval building, with a lovely garden at the rear. It is located near the center of town, but far enough down the street to be quiet. The rooms are spacious and well-equipped. The housekeeping service is impeccable. The hotel staff are friendly, helpful, and proactive. They have an easy professionalism--efficient without being formal (or appearing strained). They anticipate your needs and make helpful suggestions, also arranging great restaurant reservations and transportation options. And then there is the HerR Restaurant. We splurged for the five-course chef's dinner and would gladly repeat it anytime. The cuisine was well-proportioned, so that we felt full, but not stuffed. The dishes were endlessly creative, with subtle tastes slowly opening on the palette like a fine wine. And the service was perhaps the best I have ever encountered. The Michelin Guide should consider awarding a star!
