The Best Breakfast Sandwiches in the Twin Cities | Eater Twin Cities

"Hey Bear, St. Anthony Park’s snug new St. Anthony Park cafe, serves budget-friendly breakfast sandwiches that will fuel your day without putting too much strain on your wallet. Sausage and a simple, satisfying egg patty come wedged between two buttermilk biscuits. (Don’t overlook the lunch-y sandwiches on Hey Bear’s menu either: ham and turkey smeared with scallion aioli and red pepper relish; beet Reubens; Cubanos, and more.)" - Joy Summers

11 Twin Cities Restaurant and Bar Openings to Know This September | Eater Twin Cities

"I slipped into the former Foxy Falafel spot in St. Anthony Park for an egg-and-sausage breakfast sandwich made with two homemade buttermilk biscuits, grabbed a hunk of coffee cake, and, of course, ordered coffee." - Justine Jones

Google
such a cute spot and the breakfast melts are so heavenly good that we had to get another for the road. the iced tea is perfectly brewed here too and the service was above and beyond. the best breakfast ive had in a while! so simple yet so delicious

I absolutely love the food and the service here. The family is really sweet and I love that the food is all made from scratch and they have items that are Filipino fusion. I was also shocked how affordable the prices are for the food that you’re getting. I also appreciate that the food is served in compostable products.

Cute neighborhood lunch spot with reasonable prices and several tables inside. I got the Cuban sandwich and it was delicious and flavorful. In addition to the regular menu, they frequently have daily specials for sandwiches or bowls.

Very cute, cozy, compact cafe. A smaller menu but still with plenty of variety and options. Got the breakfast burrito and a cold press. Burrito was good sized, and stuffed full. I couldn’t eat it all in one sitting. While I did detect some very flavorful ingredients in the burrito, those ingredients seemed to be in small supply. The filling was about 95% rice and then had some beans, scrambled egg and onions and peppers very sparingly mixed in. The rice was well cooked and flavor, just wish it would have been more of a 50/50 of rice and the rest of the ingredients. The cold press coffee is good. Nothing special, just good tasting cold brew. My order was ready right on time and the price was reasonable and it’s very close to my work. I’ll give it another shot someday, just will not get the burrito again

We have been eagerly awaiting the opening of Hey Bear, watching its transformation over the past few months. This morning, we finally stopped in for breakfast. The menu offers a wide variety of breakfast options, ranging from simple favorites like PB&J or grilled cheese to more substantial choices. For drinks, you can choose between drip coffee, cold press, sodas, juices, and water. Freshly baked scones and biscuits greet you at the counter, adding a tempting touch. After reviewing the menu, we decided on the breakfast burrito, a breakfast sandwich, and a slice of coffee cake fresh from the oven. While we waited at a nearby table, we could see into the open kitchen, where the cooks were busy preparing our food. Though we got our breakfast to go, there was plenty of colorful seating available inside. The coffee cake was sweet, warm, and absolutely delicious—though I wished for a bigger slice! The breakfast burrito, packed with beans, eggs, cheese, and flavorful house-made chorizo, hit the spot. The breakfast sandwich featured a homemade biscuit and tasty sausage, but the eggs were just a bit too salty. Overall, the cafe is clean, bright, and welcoming, with friendly staff who seem genuinely happy to be part of the community. We'll definitely be back to support this local spot and explore more of the menu!

This place is cute. Very simple and to the point. Small little shop. Great place to work. We got the breakfast burrito and the breakfast sandwich. The sandwich was delicious and would get that again. The burrito was okay, but I think it needed salsa or something it was more on the plain side for me. We did not have lunch these but it looked good. The coffee cake was wonderful as well. Fair prices, food was a bit small. Just a simple little place. I’d go back for the sandwich.

Only been here twice so far. Absolutely loved the biscuit egg, sausage sandwich. Absolutely loved the breakfast burrito. Great flavor in both. Great conversation with the owner. The burrito looked small but picking it up, it was heavy!! Great flavor, I'm thinking the beans were well seasoned. Didn't get the chorizo spicy flavor, but that's ok. I could see the meat in the wrap. They know how to make a killer biscuit. It was light, fluffy, and very flavorful. I hear their Cuban is supposed to be good, probably what I will try next.

Google
I have to say the Cuban is up there among the best. Lived in Florida for years and had Cubans all over the state. And the one at hey bear can stand proudly with the best ones I had over the last 20 years. And better than most I had since coming to the twin cities. Pickle and mustard were just right. Good press and nice melt of cheese. Pork was scrumptious. Was it Cuban bread? Maybe not but it worked perfectly. DC had the egg sandwich and it was yummy as well. The biscuit is tasty and was up to the task of containing the fillings. Love this whole in the wall.

Yelp
We've been to Hey Bear! twice in the last couple of weeks; we want to try the whole menu! They have a fairly small menu, but everything looks amazing & is under $12 each. The space is cozy and bright, with a good amount of seating, but it did fill up pretty quickly on the Saturday morning we went. Everyone has been super friendly & service was quick, too! So far, I've tried: The Breakfast Sandwich without sausage (they actually knocked a dollar off the price for not getting meat, which was awesome); the biscuit is fluffy & crunchy on the outside, which made for the perfect base for the fluffy eggs. The eggs themselves were so well seasoned & delicious, & the cheese was the perfect topper. The Breakfast Burrito again, without chorizo, was also really good. The tortilla was perfectly crisped & there were, again, those delicious, fluffy eggs. I loved the inclusion of rice, beans, & cheese, but wished there was more egg than rice. I added salsa when I brought it home & that was a perfect addition. The Cold Brew was really tasty as well, & the perfect sized 16oz serving. Overall, this spot is GREAT & we'll keep coming back :)

Yelp
Out for a walk today and finally stopped in. We only had coffee and coffee cake so hard to review the food. Hey Bear has a lot of potential but here's what we noticed needs improving in our opinion: Mop the floors! They were filthy! Hang something on the walls. The place looks temporary. Get cute shirts for staff and to sell. Hey Bear is such a cute name. There was an area for compost but I noticed other people didn't know what was supposed to go in the bin. Label, label, label. Don't assume. I'd love to go back but at this point, unless things change, there's no urgency.

Yelp
Tried Hey Bear today! I was soooo excited to try this new breakfast/lunch spot because of some of the hype. Loved the story behind the name and hearing about the work put in to get it open. It's on a perfect little stretch in St. Anthony. I was glad to see they were busy at lunch time on a weekday. All items are less than $10. The young lady taking my order was so friendly and informative and provided all the accoutrements upon receiving my order. The cooks seemed to be having a good time in the back! Regarding my fish- I wish the breakfast burrito was better. I had pretty high expectations based on reviews. Sadly, the rice in the burrito wasn't cooked. There really just wasn't a lot of flavor. The size was just right. There are much better breakfast burritos around town. I do want to come back to try breakfast sandwich. I bet they'd get a lot of business if they were open on Sunday's!

Yelp
They have a very limited breakfast menu. The breakfast sandwich was decent, not amazing, and a bit overpriced. Glad I stopped in to check the place out, but I probably won't be back.

Yelp
Very reasonable prices. I got the breakfast sandwich for $8. It was good and came on a tasty biscuit, but I wish it came with some kind of sauce since biscuits tend to be dry. Can't wait to try the other sandwiches!

Yelp
I'm eating a curry scone! Hey Bear! Hey guys. I ordered a curry carrot cranberry scone and it's spicy. It's sooo good. The only thing is that it could be a bit crunchier on the outside. I also got an iced coffee, your typical ice coffee. Service was fast as it wasn't too busy. The waitress was fine.
