Heyma Yemeni Coffee & Brunch

I got hooked on Yemeni coffee beans while traveling in Egypt, and HEYMA Coffee absolutely nails that flavor profile. The coffee is rich, deep, and aromatic, clearly treated with care, not rushed or over-roasted. If you’re into proper coffee, this will hit. It reminds me of traditional Turkish-style coffee, especially that warm, subtly sweet spice note (cardamom) that adds depth without overpowering the beans. The rose milk cake has strong dulce de leche energy: soft, milky, lightly floral, finished with pistachios. It’s indulgent but balanced, and it pairs beautifully with the coffee. Great atmosphere, thoughtful menu, and it’s located right by Civic Center BART and well connected to the rest of downtown. Definitely worth checking out.

Wonderful wonderful place, from the hot food to the warm service; very hospitable, lovely decor, very clean environment, great music, wifi.. definitely returning.. the brunch is a must try I ordered the foul. Highly recommend

I found this place because it was pretty close to my hotel, and I am SO glad I stopped here! They're awesome! The first time I came in I got the biscof milk cake, biscof cheesecake, and the eclair latte!!! I started walking back to my hotel and couldn't wait to try all of it. Incase you don't already know what biscoff is... It's cookie butter!! And it's to die for! So as I was walking back to my room I started eating the biscoff milk cake.... OMG SO GOOD!! I literally stopped and turned back around and went to go get more!!! Everything was so fresh and amazing! I've come back every day I've been here damn near lol. Their prices are a little high, but their service is great, and everything is so fresh! I recommend this place to EVERYONE!! I absolutely love this place!!

What a delicious and delightful place to eat! Great decor, lovely semi-private alcoves and private back room, AMAZING food, I got the foul, the orange blossom coffee, and the rose milk cake. Great music, kind staff, cannot over-recommend.

Wandered in Sunday evening for a coffee and baklava, it was delicious. The Heyma Latte was sweeter than I expected, infused with honey. They were sold out of most of the savory pastries as I had arrived quite late in the day, but I look forward to returning and sampling those. Very happy to see a new delicious spot open in this area. The restaurant is beautiful, with striking red patterned furniture and banners against a bright, warm interior.

The booths are nice for groups. Plenty of seating. Closes late. Has all the yemeni coffee shop fixtures (except sparkling water). The seats and decor are good. My main gripe is the mood-kill lighting: it's got ultra bright cold-white lights and light strips everywhere, together with the white walls, white marble floor and seats, you may just feel like you woke up deep inside Hawkins National Laboratory.

So delicious!! The coffees were amazing we couldn’t stop smiling as we drank them. And the decor inside is so beautiful you feel like you’re in an upscale restaurant or hotel, it oozes luxury! We had a caramel macchiato and an eclair latte, both totally blew our minds. Can’t wait to come back!

SF has been blessed over these recent years with a rise in Yemeni coffeeshops. Although a lot of them have great coffee and tea, this is the first one that has amazing brunch items as well! I went here two days in a row I enjoyed it so much. The first day I got their IBB coffee pot with a bee bite which was very good. The coffee was made perfectly, strong, and a nice essence of cardamom. I do wish they had an option for a smaller coffee pot size. But this was so good that I decided to come back again and try their brunch. Let me tell you, their food stole the show. The Yemeni style shakshuka with cheese and the Lahm Zighar with hummus are unbelievable. The shakshuka was full of rich spices, eggs cooked well, and it’s served in a pot so they stay warm throughout the meal. They a perfect balance between eggs, tomatoes and seasonings so nothing over powers each other and the unique cheese really ties it together. This I would say was closer in style to a menemen than a shakshuka, and I think it’s truly exceptional and the hot sauce is amazing. That with the lahm zighar which is beef cooked with Yemeni spices on top of hummus are two items to get to share. I’d say their Yemeni tea was very good as well and the perfect thing to pair with the food. The inside is spacious and designed beautifully with bright colors and a water fountain. You can really chill here for a good amount of time and enjoy their calming atmosphere. I think this place is going to get very popular soon, as long as they maintain their high quality product I will keep returning and supporting them. In short, although there’s no shortage of great Yemeni cafes in the Bay Area, but there was a lack of food options until Heyma opened. I was told they serve brunch everyday until 2pm which is very reasonable as well. Keep up the great work and product!

Beautiful store but took a long time to get items and even then I was given the wrong item. It is new so not surprised but great overall place to get away

It's great to see new businesses popping up in western SoMa, a somewhat hardscrabble area that hasn't been susceptible to gentrification. Just as well because the rough edges are what make SoMa unique. That and a wider sense of diversity as evidenced by this spacious new late-night Yemeni cafe. Jamie W and I came upon it as we were making our way down a rather barren stretch of 9th Street. We were immediately taken in by the modern lines of the Middle Eastern decor which included a fountain that wasn't turned on during our visit. Staring at the menu (Photo 12), we were overwhelmed by all the beverage options they offer whether they be espressos, specialty coffees or cold drinks. Jamie ordered the $5.99 Spanish Latte, a delicious iced mix of milk, espresso, condensed milk, and cinnamon. I went for the $6.99 Iced Pistachio, a similarly satisfying mix but with pistachio sauce offsetting the sweetened milk (Photo 7). We couldn't help but share one of their unique Yemeni pastries, the $6.99 Kunafa, which was sweetly tasty though the shredded phyllo kept landing on our clothes (Photo 9). We sat at one of the stylish alcoved tables where we enjoyed the chill vibe that evening. I happened to be in the area a few nights later after participating in an early evening zoom call. I knew they were open until 11:30PM. This time I tried the distinctive $6.99 Dubai Latte which was comprised of espresso, pistachio, dark chocolate, and kunafa (Photo 8). Quite decadent but probably no more than the $6.99 slice of housemade Baklava (Photo 10). I'm sure I'll be back again soon. Happened to walk by this place and stopped in. Great service, big space really well done, food was great (I was hungry), I'll be back for coffee soon. They are open late! Right now open till midnight, all of us night owls need to go so it stays that way! Also key, LOTS of parking so easy in and out if you're just stopping by.

Not in the best area but gorgeous interior. Ordered the iced adeni chai, Dubai chocolate latte, and honeycomb Adeni chair ordered medium sweet- solid drink tasted better as the ice melted. Good flavor and perfect sweetness 9/10 Honeycomb- baked crisp on the edges tasted ok. Solid pastry but didn't really stand out 7.5/10 Dubai chocolate latte- strong Expresso flavor hint of dark chocolate taste. A favorite at my table 9.5/10 Lots of seating and wifi available with outlets nearby

Beautifully designed coffee shop that also serves light brunch items. Everything seems pretty reasonably priced. Look forward to revisiting this new neighborhood spot!

really good dubai lattes I've ($6.99)--one of the better ones I've had! the default is double espresso so it was strong and tasted good quality, not acidic at all. the pistachio paste/ flavor wasn't overpowering and didn't taste artificial. loved the vibes too!

The newest addition to the cafe scene is a Yemeni coffee shop with specialty drinks, a variety of pastries, and even brunch items. Aside from yummy treats, the decor is next level with a whole fountain area and vibrant cozy seating that is perfect for hanging out. Service was friendly and pretty quick in the morning. Order: Shakshouka with cheese - comes out sizzling hot and with pita bread; pretty filling for a brunch item under $15 Eclair Latte - this (and maybe all their specialty drinks for the most part) was very sweet so only get it if you have a sweet tooth

If you love Yemeni cafés as much as I, you ought to fall in love with the one at 9th St of SoMa, from the Berkeley location to here in SF, it's Heyma Yemeni Coffee. Its interior, so stunning, it takes us way back to the dawn of time when Yemeni coffee has been successfully made. Red rugs dangling at the ceiling, red couches, and footrest all adorned in Dubai-ish designs. Splendid granite fountain in the middle is what makes this Yemeni café more enchanting! It appeared to me that I missed the brunch and subs since it ends at 3 pm every day. At least I never missed what's available that early evening before closing time. Dubai cheesecake and a single shot Heyma coffee, not a shabby pair. The reason I chose single shot instead of double shot is that I rather avoid the crash from the caffeine. Added with Yemeni spices, Heyma coffee had a pleasurable taste and aroma. I have yet to visit Heyma Yemeni Coffee, whether it's Adeni chai or matcha green tea latte. I'm surprised Heyma sells matcha drinks, just like Elaichi in South Berkeley.

Definitely one of the best Yemeni coffee shops in SF. Had the iced pistachio latte and pistachio milk cake. Both were really tasty and fresh. Decor was super posh and feels like you're in a Yemeni mansion. Service was super nice and helpful. I will say though the location is in a rough area and you have to watch your back. Though will be back for sure to try new things.

Bright, big and new Yemeni cafe in the SoMa district. There is A LOT of space and I love the decor. The drinks are delicious and not generously portioned. I tried the Dubai chocolate latte and it was so tasty. I'm going to be wired for a while!

The food is AMAZING! Drinks AMAZING! Ambiance AMAZING! Parking is a challenge as it is downtown but still worth checking out!! Only wish their "brunch" would go all day and wished they extended their DD menu to match what's in person as they are missing things!! Besides one employee who gets their late after official opening and is little slow, I can't complain about this place. They only been open a month

1st time having Yemini coffee. If I ever had coffee better than this I have no memory of it. Delicious. The customer service was fantastic. Friendly but not uncomfortable. He educated me on traditional drinks etc. Did not fail in his recommendation. The ambiance was really nice. I will be back.

I found this shop via tiktok and it did not disappoint. Yemeni coffee is always top tier, and the drinks they made here are wonderful. We got the kinder bueno latte and pistachio latte, both iced. Both are def on the sweet side, but I have a huge sweet toThe service was friendly and quick. The space is large and full of beautiful furniture. There is plenty of seating, working space, and wifi if you want to stay behind to do some work!

Cute coffee house in SOMA just arrived! Heyma serves Yemeni coffee and breakfast. The space is big, open, and bright! There's plenty of seating and a peaceful fountain to bring you serenity. I ordered Socotra'a and feta + spinach pie. They were both very flavorful. I do wish the coffee had been more hot though. I'm so glad to have this option near the office. Welcome to the neighborhood!

What a beautiful location! It has a water fountain in the middle. Fast and Friendly Staff. I ordered the Dubai Chocolate Latte and it is the best Latte of 2025.

Amazing cafe! It is very beautifully decorated, super spacious, and the quality of their coffee is delicious. We ordered the Heyma Latte and the Orange Mint Latte and they were amazing!

Amazing customer service, delicious lattes. Big, welcoming seating area/atmosphere. The iced caramel macchiato (absolute favorite) and the white cinnamon latte are sweet but you can still taste their strong quality espresso. I love strong and sweet coffee! I will be back to try their unsweetened choices as well as their food :)

Great ambiance , good food, nice decoration, fresh and hormone free. Real Good Food that nourishes the body. I had "Foul" which was fantastic. They also have real Yemeni Coffee

Delicious Aden tea with cardamom! I needed a cafe to hang out in while waiting for Costco to install my tires in the evening. This is a gorgeous, spacious addition to the neighborhood especially for women looking for a safe place for a couple hours that isn't a bar. I loved the Berkeley location as well -- SOMA is very lucky!

I went to Heyma Yemeni Coffee for the first time today. I loved the design of the coffee shop. There were plenty of comfortable seating options and the fountain created a peaceful ambience. The food and coffee was delicious. My friends and I got the Turkish coffee, the Arabic coffee, the iced Heyma latte, the shaken espresso, and the iced pistachio latte - we loved everything! I also had a spinach and feta turnover which was delicious. The service was great, and I will definitely be back!

I've trekked out to the Berkeley location so I was so excited that they opened up a cafe in SF. The neighborhood can be a little rough, but stepping inside Heyma feels like you're transported somewhere else. There was a young man who took my order and a barista who made my drink, both provided wonderful service. The barista especially stands out to me because she took the time to ask how I liked my beverage (I got the Heyma latte, it was delicious!!) I'll certainly be back:)

Absolutely horrible customer service. Been there three times.. Twice I have been ignored by the only worker at the register area. Both times he was engaged in a phone call speaking into his ear buds. Once I walked out. This time I spoke to who appeared to be the owner who confronted the employee who still had the ear bud in. The employee said he was not talking to anyone and was not on a call - a lie. They asked if I was ready to order and i said no I wont be returning.
