heytea (Long Island City)

I really don’t like doing these types of reviews but…I just waited 30 minutes for a very mid Jasmine Milk Tea drink. The only reason I didn’t give it a 1 star is because the employees did look overwhelmed and tried their best with the rush of delivery orders. Luckily I was done with work for the day and didn’t have anything else planned, but waiting 30-40 minutes for a single drink in NYC is unacceptable, especially given that there were no signs/indicators letting you know that there may be longer than expected wait times. The store should implement that into their POS system or have visible and large postage somewhere to keep the expectations right. If I had known the wait was going to be more than 10 minutes, I would’ve came back another time or ordered through the app and came back. I don’t really plan on coming back, but if you are interested in trying the new Heytea drinks, might I suggest making the trip on the 7 train to flushing where the store there is much more efficient, or I recommend ordering ahead of time for pickup. Taste: The drink itself was alright, the jasmine milk tea definitely tasted the way you expected to, and the pistachio foam was also okay. Nothing to go crazy about but it was just fine. Perhaps it was the long buildup to get to the drink that diminished its overall value.

Heytea is definitely my favorite tea spot! I’m so glad they recently opened on Long Island City. My go-to drinks are the Triple Matcha and the Mango Grapefruit—both are absolutely delicious and worth coming back for. The only downside is parking can be a little tricky, and the store is almost always busy. It usually takes about 20 minutes to get your order if you line up. I highly recommend using their app to order ahead and just pick up your drinks—it makes the experience so much easier. Despite the wait, the drinks are amazing and totally worth it.

Great place! The staff is excellent! The drinks were great also. I wasn't too fond of the crab (it was too much sauce). The Argentinian shrimp was the star of the show! It was amazing. I will definitely go back again.

I found a bug in my drink and it was disgusting… A big piece of the body was stuck to the side of the cup, and there were smaller pieces floating on top of the cream. I felt sick the moment I realized what it was. This is a serious hygiene problem and it honestly made me lose confidence in this location. I threw the whole drink out right away. I hope the store actually looks into this because no customer should ever have to deal with something like this.

Love heytea, but not more than my friend- she’s a real heytea addict, always ordering at least 4 drinks just for herself. There’s always a long wait time though, better to order online beforehand.

I come here pretty often. The coconut mango blue is not too sweet, and the toppings are always chewy. The employees are straightforward and efficient — no fake smiles, just good service.

The coconut mango boom at Hey Tea is good, but the service is very slow. I ended up waiting 40 minutes for one drink even though the shop was empty. In NYC, no one can afford that kind of wait. I won’t be coming back.

Today I went to heytea for the new tiramisu drink. It was so amazing, that i have to buy another drink. The second drink I bought is the coconut mango boom. I was so surprise when I noticed they put in a large chunk of mango. It tastes more like a dessert then a drink highly recommended. Although when I was there it did got a bit busy but all the staff were working hard and trying their best. I want to give a special shoutout to renne, who make me feel very welcome and was very patient with me.

Was in the area and had to try Hey Tea since I've heard great things. We ordered the Grape Boom - absolutely delicious, I could honestly drink that every day. Definitely will get that again. We also tried the Matcha Bobo Coconut (apparently the one Lisa from Blackpink drinks) - it was alright, more my wife's cup of tea than mine. The only downside (and why I'm giving 3 stars) is that they completely forgot our order, and we ended up waiting about 30 minutes. The place was super busy, so I get it, but still a bit frustrating.

This Heytea opened several months ago. It is great, definitely one of the best spots in the neighborhood (which has many many boba places). I typically get milk tea with boba, but every drink I've had has been excellent. The space is really small, with barely any room to stand and wait. Most people wait outside. There's a screen that shows you what order numbers they're making and which ones are ready. The wait time here can be really long -- definitely order on the app and pick up. The app is great and show you the progress of your drink and estimated time until it's done. I really like Heytea and am glad it opened in the area. Definitely order on the app.

Having been to other HeyTea locations, this one is a little disappointing- not in terms of the drinks since they're made pretty much the same everywhere, but the lack of seating, AC, and the extremely long wait times for drinks. Nothing like the other locations that offered plenty of seating, and most of all, AC in 90 degree weather. Hence why 4 stars though if I'm being honest, closer to 3.5. I love HeyTea but maybe not so much this location. I came to this location to try the viral Triple Supreme Matcha Latte and everyone else in the area probably had the same idea! It was pretty much what 95% of the people were ordering here. In fact, they had so many online/app orders that they decided to stop accepting them and only have in person ordering, which contributed to the long lines that wrapped around the corner and then some. It was crazy how many drinks just sat on their counter, waiting for people to pick them up! In terms of the staff, they were doing what they could with the amount of demand there was. Considerably less staff here than in other locations as well- probably because this HeyTea was smaller in size. In terms of the viral Triple Supreme Matcha Latte, it sounds oh so good but to be honest, my friend and I were pretty disappointed. They boast matcha jelly, 1000 mesh matcha, and a matcha cloud on top but the flavors were lacking. You'd be better off ordering the Matcha Jasmine Latte, which offers a better blend of flavors!

It's kind of shocking how many people were at this Heytea. I'm not sure if they just opened but after putting our order in the kiosk, we waited 30+ minutes for our order which I don't blame them because I was watching the printer print out orders at a rate that was quite unimaginable. This was definitely the longest time I waited for milk tea. I ordered the Crispy Grape Boom and it was delicious! Essentially this was a grape slushie that had a bit of tea and grape chunks inside, all topped with cheese foam. The grape flavors really came out strong and I appreciate the chopped off grapes. It was a very refreshing drink! I will definitely be back, although I might go to the Times Square location instead as it seems like it has slightly less people.

This location is always busy, no matter what time it is. HIGHLY recommend ordering ahead on the app ahead of time, which will give you an estimated wait time. You can order in the kiosk inside or at the counter but the counter is rarely used. The interior space is very small and it gets super cramped between people waiting, trying to pick up their order, and queueing to order (so order ahead!) Lots of people waiting outside too. There's a lot of people working so it's efficient and the quality of the tea is very consistent. Highly recommend their fruit teas, most of which are a slushy consistency. standouts: grape boom (great first choice) grapefruit boom matcha cloud jasmine (great if you love matcha and foam!!) mulberry strawberry Their cloud foam is also delicious, which comes on top of the fruit teas. The bubble milk tea also deserves an honorable mention! Tea is strong, creamy and boba isn't too soft. People love the mango pomelo sago but I find it a little too heavy for me with the coconut milk. But a great dessert option! Their drinks are around $8 which has unfortunately become the standard for so many bubble tea/tea spots. Favorite boba spot, knocked down partially bc of the wait.

Amazing Tea!! But the wait is absolutely awful. 40 minutes for bubble tea is crazy but that's how busy and popular they are and the first sip is worth the wait. You can order through the app and that may be the best move to keep it moving. Cheers

the hype around Heytea is so deserved! I loved my mango grapefruit drink and also tried a little of the mango coconut version. My drink had 30% sugar and still felt very sweet--the mango coconut one tasted like the coconut dessert you can get at a lot of Chinese restaurants.

So I'm late to the game but I did try hey tea when they first popped up in LIC. Since then I've even back a few times. I was definitely hooked on the refreshing taste and fresh fruit flavors of the grape boom and the mango sago. Few months out one thing I do have to note is that this location is too overwhelmed with orders that sometimes I will have to wait for over 20 minutes just for 1 drink order to come out. I don't want to dock points but it is kind of out there to have to wait more than 10 minutes for a drink order to come out-- it's not even a meal. I wish there was some way to make that faster but I do think it's just due to the sheer number of orders they receive and the limited space to have staff accommodate more people to work on orders. Which leaves me lastly to the ambiance -- there's no real seating just a bench inside basically which is full of people waiting for their orders usually. Almost always you'll be waiting outside looking at the order status counter on screen inside. There's not much to comment on ambiance but the staff overall were polite in all my experiences despite it being so busy and hectic. The taste brings me back but I wish they could open another location nearby or have one with seating and help balance for faster service!

Definitely one of the best boba spots that recently opened. I highly recommend ordering ahead as this place gets super busy and packed due to the small size of the location. The app helps you customize your drink and you can come by just to pick up your order. The staff there is pretty helpful too. The mango drink and the jasmine tea is sublime

This new bubble tea spot in Long Island City is a sweet addition to the neighborhood, but don't come here expecting a traditional tea experience. The drinks lean heavily into dessert territory in my opinion. I got the coconut mango boom, and it felt like I was having more of an mango sago dessert. Be prepared for long lines and for a long wait. The location is super small expect to be waiting outside for your order. Pro tip: save yourself the wait by ordering online ahead of time.

I was in the area and Heytea was having a BOGO deal on their cloud matcha drinks so of course I had to stop by! The space was super small with not much room to stand or sit in (1 bench) so the line was out the door. It was late afternoon and they had ran out of brown sugar boba so they offered to substitute it with any of their other available toppings. I ordered matcha bobo coconut and coco-foam matcha oat latte. Both were alright, they tasted like your typical matcha drinks. The matcha flavor overpowered the coconut milk flavor. I like their fruit boom teas more. The drinks do look very aesthetic.

Got a few drinks here for my family to try and they were all really good, especially the Coconut Mango Boom. It's really small inside with little to no seating, so I'd stick to takeout here. They were pretty busy when we came in on a Monday afternoon.

You know it's good when there is a line anywhere. I give this place 10 stars! I finally tried and I am amazed! The drinks are delish especially the coconut mango boom. My favorite is the sago and coconut milk jelly extras. They make the drink even more amazing. Location is small but good enough to sit and wait for your drink if you find space. And i love watching them make the drinks. They are very organized at how they make their drinks. They do have other locations as well. Hopefully they can expand to a bigger space with more seating options

Just had to rave about HEYTEA in Long Island City! My friend and I grabbed two drinks - the Coconut Mango Boom and the Mango Grapefruit Boom - and wow, they were absolutely incredible. So delicious and refreshing, perfect for a hot day (or any day, really!). Seriously, I think it might be one of the best milk teas I've ever had. If you're in the area, you HAVE to try it!

Heytea was quite an experience. They have tea brewing on spot to offer freshly brewed tea for your tea loving cravings. There are a variety of options of flavors to choose from. I got a mango tea with boba and it was yummy. The tea did taste fresh, mango was fresh and the boba was cooked perfectly. Not too soft or rubbery. It came with a delicious cream to give it texture. The place was packed so that might tell you something. I heard they're expanding so I'm excited to try more flavors of they come to the DMV.

One of the best tea shop additions to the Court Square area! I've visited a few times and tried: + Brown sugar boba oat milk (favorite so far) + Grape boom - also super fresh + Passion mango - perf Best level is light sugar. Prices are also more reasonable compared to other tea shops. Will try the cheese foam soon!!

Heytea has a bunch of locations opening in nyc lately and they mostly have the same menu items across each location. Their fruit teas always taste super fresh and I like how they're customizable so you're able to get less sugar or regular sugar and etc. Definitely recommend trying out their fruit teas if you pass by any of their locations.

Most drinks here are fantastic, but keep in mind that wait times might be deceptively long even if the store appears empty because staff might be working on fulfilling online orders. - Boba Milk Tea: This is an elevated version of a classic milk tea. A layer of cream adds a rich, rounded, almost nuttiness to the drink that kicks this up a notch. The pearls are also perfectly sweet and chewy! - Mango coconut boom: So refreshing and delicious, with sweet mango, aromatic creamy coconut, and a super fun assortment of toppings! - Mango pomelo coconut: Also perfectly fruity and refreshing, with an interesting mix of flavors and textures so each sip is slightly different! The only drink I didn't love was the matcha foam over coconut water and jasmine tea. While the matcha flavor came through, the drink was extremely unbalanced and each sip left an overwhelmingly bitter aftertaste. Wouldn't order matcha here again and will stick to the fruity and milk teas.

This location is small but very convenient, close to the subway line. Staff is more friendly than other locations in my opinion. Recommend you order in Hey Tea app before going there to avoid the long lines.

It's the opening weekend! BOGO deal until end of Sunday. If you miss it, that's okay- they're doing Buy One Get One 50% off until Aug 15th! From the time we got on line to the time we got to the register it took ~10 minutes. But by the time we got our drink, it took about 30 minutes overall. While on the line, staff member took our orders and made notes on paper menus. Once we made it to the register, we showed our orders to the staff so it was easy to place the order. My boyfriend and I ordered the grape boom and mulberry strawberry boom. Their drinks are very refreshing and do have pieces of fruit in them. I prefer the mango drinks over the berry ones. The shop itself is super small, so everyone waits on the curb until their drink is ready. Inside has a screen that displays the order #s that are being prepared. The servers were nice and in good spirits! We are all excited to have a location so close to us!

Food: 4.5/5 They've been popping up everywhere across nyc! Wouldn't really classify it as a bubble tea drink nor a smoothie. They're a category all on their own. Good during warmer weather to cool you down, though there's a line in every location year round. Someone else picked it up for me, so can't comment not the service other than I think they waited 20 minutes for 4 drinks. Heytea's been open for a while but I hate queueing so I haven't had the urge to come by, until recently when I passed by and there was no crazy crowd outside the door lol. I had the matcha bobo shake. I really liked the flavour of the matcha - they do a bunch of advertising about how authentic and high-quality the matcha they use is, and I think that's probably pretty true. It smelled and tasted really fragrant, and the depth of flavour was definitely there. I ordered the minimal sugar option, which was a good choice, bc it was still a littttle bit too sweet. The boba was nice, but nothing too special. (It was a bit funny that they stayed on the top of the drink for a while since I ordered an icy/slushy drink.) Anyway, it was definitely good, but I honestly don't really see why this place been so popular for so long (and at every new location they open, too!). Maybe I'll have to come back to try some of their other tea / fruity drinks, which also seem quite popular. You can get 15% off (if I remember correctly) your first order when you make an account on their app. Usually I dislike downloading apps like this, but I have to say, the Heytea app is actually quite well-designed and looks great.

This location used to be one of my go tos - my favorite is definitely the coconut mango boom which has a multitude of toppings and is a refreshing drink. Note - the quality is inconsistent and slippe a little at times as the ratio of mango juice and coconut juice have been quite off recently.

Great place for boba! They have so many flavors and they are all done well. The boba has a great texture and the flavors they have are well done. My one gripe is that they don't really let you modify any drink, you do have to accept how they make it themselves, but they are still very good. Place itself is small so not much seating to chill but you can always take it to go and sit somewhere else.

Definitely see the hype, the cheese foam mango was delicious! Also tried the strawberry one, it's not overly sweet and the foam adds a nice touch. It was just very crowded and not enough space inside. Also the system didn't display my order on the screen, until I went up to the staff - then they said my order has been ready for a while. It's better if we can enter cell number so can get a text when ready. But overall the tea was good, just pricey.

HEYTEA is truly amazing and the jasmine tea alone is so good! It very quickly became a staple for me and my boyfriend since moving to the area. Definitely recommend ordering ahead through the app as wait times can be lengthy during peak times

HEYTEA has finally opened a location in LIC! There are a million bubble tea shops in this area but HEYTEA takes the cake for their fresh and unique "Boom" fruit slushee drinks. The Coconut Mango Boom is a dream, consisting of soft sago (clear, tiny tapioca balls), chewy jelly slices, light coconut milk, sweet mango juice, aromatic jasmine tea, and fresh mango purée. The result was a refreshing, fruity, and creamy treat. You could taste that the mango was freshly prepared with REAL mango, which sets them apart from a lot of bubble tea shops in the area. Every drink will run you about $7 but it's worth it for their unique flavors.

Best Tea place in Long island city. The service was on point and prompt. Huge chunks of coconut tofu and mango were flavourful and not overly sweet like all common bbt shops. The use of organic milk is a plus! Tip is to use app for 15% on orders. Enjoy

So good that I had it two days in a row! Small corner boba shop that just opened in LIC that's popular in Asia right now; they already have tons of business and wait times are long (15-30 min) on weekends. I recommend ordering online or through the app. There's no seating area inside so only takeout. My favorite was the boom drinks - I had yumberry and grape boom, and they were both delicious and refreshing! Their milk teas have a nice strong flavor and aren't super sweet. I love how you can customize with 0 calorie sugar for free. They provide nice takeout bags with trays if you need to hold multiple drinks which is a really nice touch. So happy they opened a location here!

I honestly was surprised how busy it was. they were pretty quick getting the orders ready for how many people there were waiting. been to hey tea a couple times and everything's been pretty average: tried the mango cloud blue drink for $7.61 this time and it was just okay.

Absolutely incredible. Could have this every single day if I really could! The mango grapefruit boom was out of this world. How can something be this good?? Every single sip is unreal. Mangos and grapefruits are fresh, sago is the perfect texture. Great service, aesthetically pleasing place. Clean interior.

I have heard a ton of hype about Hey Tea, so I had to check it out with some friends. The staff was patient and friendly explaining their most popular drinks and overall very knowledgeable. I opted for the original grape bomb and it was so delicious. Very fruity, had scraps of grape, with the perfect amount of ice and sugar! Am very happy this spot opened up near my place!

Stopped in recently after my cousin's recommendation and am so happy I did! My friend and I both got the mango coconut boom and LOVED it. I got it without any sugar or tea. The perfect refreshing treat especially on a warm day. Will be returning expeditiously! A high 4 out of 5 in my books :)

Went on opening day and took advance of the BOGO deal! I got the grape boom with cheese foam which was yummy and refreshing! We did have to wait a while but definitely understandable since it was opening day and there was a long line because of the deal. I wish this location had some seating or was a bit more spacious because it was kind of hard to go in with all the people and pick up our drinks, but the space next door is going to be a skewer restaurant instead. Definitely excited to have hey tea in the neighborhood - I think it's a better option than some of the surrounding boba spots!

When I saw all the crazy crowds consistently outside this spot after it opened, I figured it must be good given the fierce boba competition in LIC. Once we finally made it by here, I wasn't disappointed! I will preface this with a warning that most of their drinks only have "crystal boba" (made from konjac) which they call "bobos," so if you're in the mood for boba, this might not fulfill that craving. There are some milk tea drinks thst come with typical brown sugar boba (and of course, you can pay to add them to a drink). If you're feeling something fruity and refreshing though, this place will hit the spot. Heytea specializes in fresh fruit, low calorie drinks. I'm usually skeptical of low calorie alternatives, but I never would've guessed these aren't regular boba drinks! Even the sugar free sweetener has a minimal difference in taste. Everything I've had so far has been good, but the Sandy Liang collab drink is my favorite (so sad they ran out of the free coasters!). The yumberry is interesting - I've never had the fruit before, but the tartness is refreshing and the texture is fun to munch on. The wait can be a while, so I recommend downloading the app and ordering ahead of time. They're pretty good at updating drink status and you can get live updates on exactly how many drinks are ahead of you.

The working conditions at this location seem unbelievably poor. During this summer, the workers make hundreds of orders a day, and it is like a greenhouse with their giant windows. I can't imagine working in these conditions at the rate that they do. What kind of horrible company can't pay for AC when it gets that hot? It's easily 90 degrees in this sometimes location. Aside from the poor working conditions, they have clear management issues sometimes. You can order a drink, and they might run out of apples, so you wait 30 minutes for them to chop apples. As a customer, this sucks. In a situation like this, I think customers should be compensated. At the very least, they shouldn't allow you to order the drink, or warn you about the time. This has happened to me twice now. I personally asked for a refund because 30 minutes is a long time in the middle of my work day. While the drinks are good, I can't help but feel concerned over the working conditions and customer service. This company feels scummy.

Online ordering was quick and easy. This has to be the best milk tea i have ever had. Boba was also cooked to perfection.

Was craving something refreshing so I stopped in and got the mango coconut smoothie. It was super quick even though it was busy with mobile orders! It was tiny so no seating but great to just stop by in on my walk.

The workers are really working and doing their best. Service was as accurate and fast as they could be. Drinks were great and good quality, love the options.

I liked their drink options here! They also offer alternative sweetener which I've never seen from a boba shop before. I tried the mango boom which was light and refreshing. You order on the kiosk or at the register, and then are given a number. You can track when your order is being prepared or when it's ready on the TV screens which is nice. It was super busy when I went so be prepared to wait a bit.

Fresh fruit and regular tea option. Price is quite steep but still good value considering quality of ingredient. No seating available as this place is take out only. Beware of long line - we waited more than 20 minutes for our order.

Peach one is very refreshing and I like the jelly very chewy. They're also doing BOGO free the first 3 days so very worth it!!!

This is really terrible, I ordered on the app for my Bland Black Milk Tea at 8:27 pm and the app said 7min wait. Then they just not telling me that they run out of milk tea until I asked at 8:42 pm. I have been waiting for 15min and if I didn't ask where is my order, they will just continue to ignore my order. I am very disappointed. I asked for the refund receipt, they even don't have the receipt for me. At the end, I need to screen shot the machine to have it in record. I love their tea a lot. But the service just needs to be improved.

Go-to boba spot! They're really fresh and have a rotating menu. I'm a big fan of the strawberry peach boom. Order ahead on warmer days as the wait can get really long

Hey Tea, made me wanting for more. The tea's were incredible with wonderful flavors built to your specifications and then I realized that I finished my heavenly drink within a heart beat - LOL. . No worries, went back and got more. (Big smile on my face ). On a serious note, great tea, worth a visit and you will not be disappointed.

Was able to get the BOGO offer for the first three days of this newly opened HEYTEA location in Long Island City. Went around 7:30pm, so the line wasn't too crazy. Due to sales volume, waited about 15 minutes before drinks were ready for pickup. I had the Cheese Grape Boom with 50% sweetness and the hubby had the Mango Grapefruit Boom with 30% sweetness. Very fresh, refreshing drinks. I especially loved the salty/sweet cheese foam and the grape bits. It was just the right amount of sweetness for me.

The service was great, front desk are so polite and drinks are well-made same taste as I had in China
