Cafe Mado, From the Oxalis Team, Is Opening in Prospect Heights | Eater NY

"At the end of the year I noted that the Chinese cheese tea chain Hey Tea opened its first U.S. location in Midtown at 1407 Broadway (between West 38th and 39th streets), and the company is bringing another storefront to downtown Flushing at 36-56 Main Street near 37th Avenue on April 26; the chain is known for tea topped with salty foam." - Luke Fortney

Chinese Cheese Tea Chain Hey Tea to Open First U.S. Location in Manhattan | Eater NY

"Opening its first U.S. tea shop in Midtown at 1407 Broadway (between West 38th and 39th streets) on December 8, Hey Tea is the Chinese chain that turned cheese tea into an international sensation. It has thousands of locations across Asia and, at peak popularity, customers would line up for hours. The company helped redefine the drink in 2012 by using cream cheese instead of powdered cheese and mixing it with fresh milk to create a more premium version; more generally, the cheese-tea foam is made with cream cheese, heavy cream, sugar, and a little salt." - Luke Fortney

Restaurants in China Could Give the U.S. Hospitality Industry a Glimpse of Its Future | Eater

"A popular bubble-tea chain famous for long lines that has reworked its customer flow with digital tools: a QR code at the door launches an illustrated safety guide, allows customers to place orders, and notifies them when to return to pick up drinks at the doorway, minimizing crowding and contact." - Aaron Fox-Lerner

Cheese Tea Is Frothy, Salty, and Everywhere in New York

"A chain that helped popularize cheese tea in New York, bringing salted whipped-cream–topped iced teas that feel like a hybrid of bubble tea, slushie, and Frappuccino. The first local location opened just over a year ago and there are now around 15 in the city; lines can stretch up to an hour, though ordering ahead via the app is common. The menu leans into a “new Asian tea” approach—colorful, juice-forward drinks and slushies in which tea often plays a supporting role; an example is the Cloud Crisp Grape, a purple green-tea slush topped with a layer of cheese foam that combines dairy with medium-sweet fruit." - Tammie Teclemariam

TO WILBURThe brown sugar boba drink here is immaculate-- the perfect balance of chewy, sweet, and melancholy. I ended up leaving it on the ground at a nearby park, hoping that my son will find it (He is homeless since March, 2025). I haven't seen him in months but since he was a boy hes had a keen sense of smell, especially keen to my scent and is able to follow it with his sheer nasal power. Maybe if he finds it, he wont starve to death and die. The tea here is brewed very well, and the "supreme" matcha one that i got for myself was delicious; it NEARLY lived up to its name, but I dropped it and it spilled all over the ground and my good shoe. I'll be coming back here soon to purchase another boba drink. Harriet please message me soon, You havent answered my texts or calls, and I know you have read my reviews in the past.....

Drinks were really delicious and refreshing. You can really taste every ingredient and the portions are decent. I got the mango and grapefruit drink and I definitely will be back to try others. The store also smells really good, as if you walking through a flower garden. My only complaint would be the wait. If you’re planning on going here be sure to order through the app beforehand because this place gets very busy, so much so that no one took my order for a while. Also be aware that the ordering/ waiting area is very small. I waited for almost 20 minutes from entering to receiving our drinks. The passion fruit drink was also very delicious, not as tart as I expected.

Tried the Mango Grapefruit Boom – super refreshing and full of real fruit flavor. One of the best drinks I’ve had in a while! The only downside was the long pickup line. Highly recommend ordering ahead through the app to skip the wait.

Google
Their matcha is very good. I tried the boba drinks but not good like their matcha. I hope they add bigger cup size option. This place always busy. So better make the order online 20 minutes before arrive. So you didnt need to wait.

I had a bad experience here. I ordered a matcha drink and had to wait way too long. When I asked how much longer it would take, the staff just kept saying they didn't know. It felt like they weren't trained properly or didn’t know what they were doing. The whole process was slow and frustrating.

I had the matcha jasmine latte. It was a hot spring day and this drink was so satisfying. The bobas are juicy. Download the app and order ahead of time if you don’t want to wait about 15 minutes on a busy day

Just recently opened last month and stopped in to check it out. We got a Passion Fruit Blast and Matcha Cloud Jasmine Latte. Kat was very helpful. Both drinks were recommended and really good. Will be back to try out more of their options. Definitely check out if you’re in the area.

We tried the Coconut Mango Boom, and it was amazing—refreshingly fruity, perfectly balanced, and bursting with tropical flavor. The staff were also super warm and welcoming. Can’t wait to come back!
