Google
My friend lives in Marietta and sends me biltong care packages from Heywood's every so often. And every time, I am watching the tracking number like a ravenous hawk until it gets here to Seattle. This is biltong done right and now I am ruined for all other biltong. I have not found a comparable butcher out here in the PNW. You have made me set my expectations too high Heywood's! Amazing food.

Excellent service. Best meat market in East Cobb/Marietta area.

Google
What a great experience today. The staff was only upstaged by the products they sell. Meat, meat, and more glorious meat!!! They were so helpful giving us advice, letting us sample, and then selling us some amazing food. You gotta get here!!!!

Google
One of the best places to get great proteins. Their selection is always top notch, at a good price point, and they stand by their quality.

Google
They are across the street from me, I love it, but even when I lived in Sandy Springs and Roswell I would still come out here. The Wagyu flank is a favorite, the ultra Wagyu strip is Soooo good. I've never had any other Biltong, but theirs is so good I always end up buying 2 packs of it. Their Xing Chiang sausage is the best, it's good for any meal, sweet and spicy, it's especially good in ramen with their beef stock as the broth. I haven't had a bad experience here yet, not sure why I hadn't left a review until now, but they are the only place I buy my meat from.

Google
Great meat choices and it's delicious. But to get that taste reward, you have to pay.

Google
Came in on a whim and the guys were super friendly. Ended up leaving with some wagyu tips and steak, very delicious! They even helped us pack it in ice to ensure it made it the journey home. Will go back

Patrick and Sean were a pleasure to meet. They answered all my questions, very professional and knowledgeable. Customer service was great. The meats I got were outstanding especially the wagyu biltong, they knocked it out of the park with that.

Yelp
I want to share how Kurt went above and beyond for this customer...me!! Heywood's closes right now on Thursdays at 3:00 and had been closed for 5 -7minutes when I arrived. Kurt was walking to his car when I approached him about being closed already!! He agreed to go back in and sell me the delicious cheddar brats I wanted for dinner!! At that point I didn't know his name and he wouldn't give it to me. His act of kindness was no big deal in his mind but meant a lot to me. I wanted to let my neighbor (owner) about how pleased I was with this person but it was him just being kind to his customer!!! My husband and I got to enjoy our yummy Heywood's cheddar brats for dinner that night thanks to Kurt!!

Yelp
Solid place. Didn't have a pork loin, but so friendly I stayed for some recommendations. Picked out some house made sausages. If I lived close, I'd stop in for some eggs, random items and an in house sauerkraut. Tidy and packed shop. Woot th a stop if you are in the area.

Yelp
Be very careful, check the labels and sell by date and don't believe what the staff tells you. I bought a container of their fish dip and some vacuum sealed smoked trout. I tried the dip when I got home, it didn't taste good, so I looked for a label with the ingredients, there wasn't one, but I did notice that the sell by date was a week prior to when I bought it. That's my fault for not checking while I was in the store, but I asked the guy helping me what the expiration date was and was told it was fine that it lasted a long time if refrigerated. Then I checked the sell by date for the smoked trout, that date was the day before I bought it, but again I was told it lasted a long time if refrigerated. I should have returned both items immediately but didn't feel like making a trip back to the store. I'm very disappointed, I was expecting everything to be good.

Yelp
The kind of place where they're give you perfectly good service every time, but somehow you always feel a little like you're bothering them. But you're not coming here for company, you're coming here for the meat, and you won't be disappointed. Second best butcher shop in Atlanta.

Yelp
This is a wonderful place full of all kinds of treasures that you cannot find in your local chain grocery store. I love the traditional, neighborhood butcher, and Heywood's MEATS the criteria for that. I came in search of thick cut bacon and smoked salmon, and they had it--at least 8 different types of bacon. I got a half pound of the applewood smoked and the apple smoked with low sodium. I love that they have low sodium options, which you may not ascertain at most other traditional vendors. I believe in supporting local establishments, and I will definitely be back. They are also, and I will definitely be back. They owners are very kind, welcoming, and great you heartily when you walk in. Parking is ample in the adjacent shopping center.

Yelp
1st Visit and it's already a hit. In town from Cornelius for my Grandson's 1st Karate Tournament. The next day, before going back to Cornelius (Charlotte) we stopped at Coggin's to get a new pair of shoes for the eldest grandson. Youngest is still OK but will need them when we come back down in April or May. After buying the shoes, my Son had previously expressed a desire in visiting Heywood's. Having had some great butcher shops when we lived in Ohio and Pennsylvania, I was pleased to see a shop with such an extensive offering. Granted that some of it is packaged in the upper midwest and shipped so it is not local, still a fair amount of good local meats as well. My son and his wife got a little of a number of items to try and I'm sure they will be back next weekend for more. My son loves to cook meat and is now dry aging his own meat as well. Nice to see such an offering so close to their house.

Yelp
Their sausages are fantastic! So fresh and delicious. The liver wurst was so rich and Smokey. I loved it too! The cheddar sausages are just one of our favorites.

Charley B.

Yelp
Best quality meat anywhere! If you are looking for very high quality meat, this the THE place to go. The staff is also very knowledgeable and helpful.

Cheryl M.

Yelp
Really cool butcher shop. This guy has it all. He has all different kinds of specialty meats even things that are popular in other countries. If there is something you are looking for and can't find elsewhere, look here. If you can't find what you are looking for just ask. He will probably find a way to get it for you. There were lots of different things to purchase here including breads and sauces. On this trip we even got stuff for the dogs. He has meat just for dogs that you can get frozen and then cut off the portion you need. I was also able to get chicken feet for the dogs that they loved!

Phyllis M.

Yelp
Excellent steaks. Lots of variety. Many varieties of meats and sausages. Pricey but good.

Helmut H.

Yelp
As a Certified Master Chef, I'm very selective about the ingredients I bring into my kitchen. I can trust that everything in their sausage is fresh and of the highest quality - something I'm proud to serve. Chef Helmut F.J. Holzer CMC - AAC Past - Chairman American Master Chefs Order (AMCO)"

Yelp
Once you shop here............you'll never by protein products from the supermarket again. Class all around. Owner is a trained chef and really cares about his products and customers. Well done all around.

Yelp
Writing this review while the memories of Kebobs from their meat are still fresh. On one hand, I wonder why no matter where I buy pork from in the United States, I still can't seem to make Kebobs taste like they did in Russia. Perhaps it's the diet of the cows. However, this is probably as close as I've gotten them to be. FRESH BOSTON BUTT. It's very fresh pork. No comparison to Publix or even Whole Foods, this is a different level of quality. YOU CAN GET A WHOLE PIG HERE. Yes, my friend does a pig roast once in a while and if you call a little ahead, they will have w whole pig ready for you. Now that's awesome. THEY HAVE SAUSAGES AND OTHER MEATS TOO. I got the mortadella but haven't tried yet. The selection is not that big, it's not Patak meat store or anything, but all the basics are covered. FRIENDLY SERVICE. The owner seemed really nice and gave us the perfect cut that I wanted, even asked me if I needed it to be a full piece or not.

Anita L.

Yelp
Agreed with Sarah B. None of the three employees there on a Saturday were wearing masks. So that tends to spill over into the customers. Over half of the customers were not wearing masks, including a young child. And it's a small space, and they were crowded. It got so crowded in there yesterday with people not wearing masks that even one of the three employees eventually pulled up a bandanna over his face. What does that tell you??? So even though I like their deli meats (although pastrami is way too fatty) and their wagyu beef, I will wait until Covid is gone before I ever return. One time I did buy their prepackaged ground beef, and I am not a fan - I did not like the taste or the strong smell. From what I observed, it appears they are more popular for their deli meats and their sausages, rather than their prepackaged beef and pork.

Sarah B.

Yelp
Cured meats were ok, nothing special. The fresh meat looked good but I didn't get any. I would come back for the fresh meats or to grab some cheese but I'll pass on the cured goods. I was also disappointed that the staff weren't wearing masks.

Justin W.

Yelp
My favorite meat market in the area. Good service and nice workers. They have some specialty smoked items as well which I love.

sara o.

Yelp
My wife bought this tonight. Obviously a bit too old to be sold. Very disappointed that you would sell this to anyone. Please sell fresh meat going forward. For $20/lb this is not acceptable.

Casey K.

Yelp
I went to Heywood's Provisions in search of lamb for a dinner party. The man behind the counter was EXTREMELY friendly and knowledgeable about the lamb, its origin (a small farm), how much to purchase for the number of people we were hosting for, and how to cook it. I ended up purchasing a leg and shank, both of which were fresh and delicious. In addition to the lamb, they have a wide selection of sausages, bacon, and other cuts of meats. I would definitely recommend, and will be returning in the future!

Yelp
Went here for the first time Sunday afternoon- I have to admit I was a little intimidated before walking through the doors because I had never been to an actual butcher outside of a grocery store before but once I walked in I felt so comfortable talking to the butcher, Patrick. He was very nice and filled me in on everything they have and answered my questions. I was able to sample some deli meats before I got them. The smoked ham tastes like it did when I was a kid- delicious!! The shop is a good size and the selection is huge- pork chops, ribs, tons of sausages that they make in house, fresh trout, salamis, pastramis, duck confit, soppressata, chorizo, pancetta, lamb, steaks, ribeyes, Kobe beef, just to name a few. Everything he has is local, no hormones, no MSG, no phosphates, no gmos and other crap they put in food and they know the farmers where they get their meat from. Love!! I walked away feeling confident with 1.5 inch pork chops and sliced smoked ham (from Riverfiew farms in North GA: which were AMAZING!) and 4 andouille sausages. I paid right around 20 bucks. I highly recommended this butcher shop and I can't wait to go back and learn some more about other types of meats and cuts.

Brady C.

Yelp
I try to stop by here as often as I can. This is a meat-lover's paradise! You can get anything from specialty cuts of fish (sushi-grade tuna), all sorts of sausages and bangers, waygu steak, excellent brisket, duck, and much, much more. The staff are friendly and extremely helpful. It's best to go here on a Thursday or Friday since they tend to sell out on the rarer cuts of meat quickly. They typically post their meat-cuts for the week on Instagram. All in all, if you want a local butcher that will supply you with such rarities as 30-day dry aged steak and cowboy cut steaks, you have to come here! You get to be your own steak house when you bring home and cook these meats. If you're trying to smoke meats or cook steaks to impress a group of friends, one of the secrets is the quality of the meat. It helps a lot!

James J.

Yelp
Heywood's is a great find. This butcher is the closest and highest rated ( through Yelp! ) to me and well worth a 30 minute drive for collecting your BBQ supplies. Staff is very helpful and the sausages are very good quality.

Pam S.

Yelp
Writing this as I'm shoving their hot smoked salmon in my mouth. I've tried their regular brats, the cheddarwurst, jalapeno cheddarwurst, and Italian sausages. They all blow my socks off. That jalapeno brat is the bee's knees... I frequently stalk Stout Bros. to see if they've received any in. Fresh, local, delicious... I don't care for overly salted food, and that can be troublesome with brats & sausages, but not with Heywoods. If you're camping, tailgating, or just grilling out, do your tastebuds a solid & grab some Heywoods!

Yelp
Being from Philadelphia, I am used to having a local butcher at my disposal. A typical grocery shopping day had three stops; one to the grocery store, one to the fish monger, and one to the butcher. We never bought meats and cold cuts from anywhere else but a butcher. It seems that the Atlanta area not only lacks in cheesesteaks and TastyKakes, but it seriously lacks in butchers. We had a so-called butcher move into the Woodstock area and I was happy as a toad. After several trips to that place, one of them resulting in a green, smelly, leg of lamb, I refused to visit any longer. I mean almost every purchase resulted in bad meat. So when Heywood's opened, I got the news and drove over to browse. Initially I didn't go to crazy. I started with some Kielbasa, a few pounds of Italian, and some ham hocks. Wow! First let me say it again, that smoked Kielbasa was the absolute best that I have ever had. The ham hocks were ginormous with an excellent amount of smoke to them and enough meat on them that when I was done cooking the hock down in a pot of beans and trimmed meat from the hock, there was so much that the beans ate like meal on their own. Their charcuterie selection is not vast, but it is stocked with good stuff. I have tried their bone-in ribeye and they were pretty good. I usually source my beef via mail-order and buy 30-70 day dry aged, but I can say that Heywood's does not disappoint especially when they have USDA prime. I have had their bangers, the pork chops, the andouille, the chorizo...this is the place to get meat!

Rf H.

Yelp
It's one thing to purchase local quality meat, but to be educated in the chain of sourcing from start to finish creates a comfort level that makes you want to come back. Both gentlemen who assisted me were caring professionals at the highest level. I'll be back!!

Pedro S.

Yelp
One of the best butcher and charcuterie purveyors in the whole state. The staff is super friendly and the owner is incredibly accommodating to special orders and odd cuts of beef. Want a whole spinalis muscle? Just give him a week's notice. Want a special blend of ground beef? No problem. Want some pork skin? a slab of belly? a cheek? Again, all you need is a little notice. But the best part is their awesome selection of top-notch charcuterie. Check out the guanciale, the amazing Portuguese chorizo, the duck confit, the corned beef brisket, their ham, their linguiça and their breakfast sausage. Heck, while you're at it, buy some leaf lard, some of their smoked sea salt, and try out their imported olive oils.

Daniel V.

Yelp
I finally left my house early enough to make it to this place today, and I couldn't have been happier that I stopped in.. What a selection! I can't wait to blow an entire paycheck in this place, there's so much to choose from! Can you say duck pastrami? how about some of the nicest looking bacon I've seen since I moved to the south? Andouille? check. Sopressata? check. Brats, Portuguese Chorizo, Guanciale, English & Irish Bangers, even Lardo (if you haven't experienced lardo, do yourself a favor and try it.) The only downside to this place is that I don't know where to start or end. It's hard to find a butcher/charcuterie of this caliber anymore.

Mark O.

Yelp
In my family we always get to eat what we want for our birthday. When I was young my mother (a S. Dakota farm cook) would make me pork (ham) hocks & lima beans. I haven't had this meal in ages since the pork hocks in the grocery stores aren't worth it. When we found out about Heywood's we stopped by to check it out. Everything we bought was great. We also asked them about pork hocks. They show us a beautiful large smoked hock. We order 4 for my birthday. When we went to pick up the hocks they said do you want to buy the small or large hocks. We said "What?". Then then brought out a large hock. OMG! We had only seen the "small" which was large. We bought 2 "small" and 2 "large". Needless to say I hadn't had a pork hock and lima bean meal that good since I was a kid. We couldn't eat all the meat on my birthday and had plenty of leftovers for another meal. We are also hanging onto the bones that still have some meat on them for split pea & ham soup (Potage de St. Germaine).

Jenny S.

Yelp
Love this local shop! Fantastic selection at surprisingly affordable prices. The staff was very helpful and advised us on cooking methods for some of their specials. They also carry fresh eggs, bakery goods and some other odds and ends to make a great meal. Loved the cuts we took home and grilled that night, we will be going back on a regular basis!

Jeff T.

Yelp
Finally had a chance to swing by this place when I was in need of grilling supplies. As we'd had steak a few nights before, that wasn't what I was looking for -- which was good as the selection late on a Saturday afternoon wasn't that great. But plenty of sausage options and a 80/20 grind that looked to be perfect for burgers. Went with a couple brats and a couple fresh kielbasa and 1.3lbs of beef. Prices were really good, walked out for $16, although I ended up with 1.5lbs of beef for some reason. Cooked up -- wow, some of the best brats and kielbasa I've had -- plenty of garlic and spices, but not too much salt or artificial smoke flavor. Even my non-sausage fans really liked them. Paired with a pepper-onion-mushroom grilled blend, really a knockout. Burgers were a nice sweet meat -- I don't do too much to season my burgers -- that worked well with a mild swiss. I'll have to come by Heywood's in the middle of the week to see what else I might hunt up. The fresh local trout they carry looked really interesting, and the prime tenderloin they had may someday be a blowout type option.

David M.

Yelp
OK, before you drive there to make a purchase, check their hours! I made the drive, walked up to the door, and they were closed. However, after a quick call, they unlocked the door and I bought a nice bone in ribeye. Let me say that had I ask how much it was per pound, I'd have walked out and gone to Public.., But I bought it to save being embarrassed. How ever, I cooked that beautiful steak and without question, it was the finest steak I've ever eaten! It would have made a Ruth's Chris steak seem like a McDonald's hamburger... Seriously! I won't shop here weekly for steaks due to price, but I sure will for any special occasion! Great meats and very nice folks here.

Charlie B.

Yelp
I used to love going to the butcher shop when I was a kid, all the different sausages and charcuterie, steaks, roasts, primal sections, fowl, poultry, swine, goat, etc. Meat is all good in my book, and the best place Ive found around Atlanta, is in Marietta and it is this joint. The size isn't overwhelming and the space is clean and well organized. The prices are as fair as the selection is wide, and even though they don't make every sausage every day if you know what you want you can call them the day before and they will hook you up. Their cheddarwurst is a revelation for adult taste buds wishing to relive childhood memories, and the bratwurst have a delicious fall flavor to them delicious with a nice beer and some kraut. I can not recommend Heywood's enough.

Jean P.

Yelp
This is a hidden and undiscovered gem. Patrick stands above all other butchers and artisanal meat professionals with his well balanced high quality, yet well priced, meats. He must have the best breakfast sausage and prosciutto in America. That's not a small statement. At least I have never tasted meats this good on this side of the Atlantic. Well, done, I hope I can place Internet orders one day. I will tell all my friends.... Jean

Earne B.

Yelp
Can't beat Heywoods...great sausage, jerky, Prime Steaks, CAB beef, free-range birds -- I can keep going. Our family has made the switch to buying of our meat from Heywoods.

Rick M.

Yelp
Awesome selection here - Patrick sure knows his business. I especially like that they'll feature some of their own unique "creations" from time to time, and I swear, I could eat their bacon raw... The place is tucked in the corner of a strip mall/shopping center, so you have to work a little to find it, but it's worth it 100%

Lindsay C.

Yelp
Real. Good. Meats. Wish they would open a Smyrna location so I didn't have to venture into East Cobb snobbery for the awesomeness. Stopped in here a few times for steaks, sausages, and more. They do not disappoint!

Shay Z.

Yelp
Such a great find. All the meat is high quality, most is grass fed, and it tastes out of this world. I must always have the breakfast sausage on hand, as well as a salami or Braunschweig. If you want to try something new or need advice, they always have great advice. I will return regularly.

M. S.

Yelp
OMG - having gotten a pound of the smoked tongue to go (along with a couple kielbasa), based on looks alone, once I saw and smelled the package in front of me, I couldn't even wait to get home to dig in. Deelish! The fact is, warming it up made it even better - so much so that the spicy mustard I'd planned to dip it into, went right back into the fridge. This place rocks...if I could afford to do my own "Man vs. Food" here, I would.

Mariellen J.

Yelp
One week ago, I would have given this establishment SIX stars if the scale went that high. But, after the treatment I received yesterday, we will not be back. I called Heywood's late last week to place a special order for the holiday week. We ordered a full brisket to make sure that we would have it on hand for a Wednesday meal. I asked for a Monday delivery and was told it would be ready. I called Monday and was told the order went in a day late and wouldn't be ready until Tuesday. I called Tuesday about an hour after they opened and was told the delivery truck had not come yet. I inquired as to when and was told the latest would be 2:30pm. I called at 2:45 to check as I know that this time of year is very busy and wanted to verify delivery before I left my house(I live 30 minutes from the shop). I was greeted with a very surly attitude from an employee who told me basically "we will call YOU" (the implication was "Get off our backs"). Never did get a call back. We decided to call another butcher and get a brisket from them. I will not be back. When I am spending almost $70 on a piece of meat, I don't expect to be TREATED like one. I guess they have enough business that they can get by without mine.

Misty M.

Yelp
Wow. Nice butcher shop, knowledgeable, and helpful. I bought a delicious beef brisket for Christmas. My guests raved about it. Yum!

Angela A.

Yelp
I can hardly put into words enough to do justice to this fine establishment. In fact, all the products here are top quality, made with incredible skill and respect for the craft. ALL products are house made, all natural, no chemicals, skillfully seasoned...this shop is a hidden treasure and I assure you once you try the products you will never consider buying meats from anywhere else. Prices are very reasonable and the owner and staff are very kind and educational and will accommodate your needs. It is worth every cent and I would tell anyone in the area to make it a point to get to this shop and feed yourself and family the best choice meats available. There is no turning back when you tasted the best and HEYWOODS is just that - the BEST!

bruc e h.

Yelp
Our family is thrilled to have found a place like this! And so close to home! The free range chicken was so much better than the frozen portions we usually buy, and the sausages were outstanding! They take a lot of care and time in handling the meats and in getting you exactly what you want. They even sold us some of the duck fat they use to season the hand made sausages-- WOW -- quality in every way. Drug free-organic-ethically raised-- just what we were searching for.
