This was my first time getting food at Hibernian, and I have to say, it is truly a world onto itself!
While claiming to be an Irish pub, having been to an actual Irish pub in Dublin myself, the aesthetic was quite spot on. The menu, however...
There were perhaps two or three items on the menu that one would find in a true Irish pub, such as corned beef, fish and chips, and of course, Guinness! However, that is where the similarities end. If you go to an Irish pub in Dublin and ask for a Philly steak sandwich, firecracker shrimp, or Philly eggrolls, you will get weird looks and potentially laughed out of the establishment!
All this to say, although the menu was quite eclectic, the atmosphere can't be beat, the service was excellent, and there's nothing like chowing down on good pub food while watching the sunset from the roof of this Glenwood restaurant!
I got the corn beef, which was browned to perfection and tasted amazing. It was served with garlic mashed potatoes, which in my opinion, could have used a little more seasoning, but we're still good! The cabbage was fantastic, well seasoned and just crunchy enough (I hate when my cabbage is overcooked so this was perfect!).
I went on a Wednesday night, and they had several drink specials going: half off wine (I got a glass of Cabernet for just $3.25!), Four dollar Miller, and five dollar Appalachian Blonde. It was great because the bill wasn't too steep but we still got the downtown Glenwood experience.
All in all, would recommend, if for nothing else than the rooftop patio area!
Parking: I can't ever say this enough: never ever ever ever park on Glenwood proper! Always park on one of the side streets!
Recommend: Cabernet and Corned Beef
Don't Recommend: Mac & Cheese (wasn't bad, just wasn't great)
Service: Five Stars!!
