I visited Hibiscus on the Mile in Freeport, NY, and had a mixed experience. The seafood, especially the fish tacos and fried snapper, was flavorful and well-prepared. The atmosphere was lively, with vibrant music and a scenic waterfront view, making it a great spot for a night out. However, the service was inconsistent; while some staff were attentive, others seemed overwhelmed, leading to delays in orders. Additionally, the drinks were hit or miss, with some cocktails lacking balance. Despite these issues, the overall ambiance and food quality made the visit enjoyable.

Even though it was a Tuesday I still made reservation because it was my hunnys birthday and I needed them to know which slice of cake to bring without him knowing 😊. The atmosphere was beautiful but I love the water anyway. The appetizer were great, we had the wings and crab cakes, dinner was great, drinks were great and Groupon deal actually paid for the drinks. Can't wait to go back. This was our first visit but won't be the last.

Had a lovely early dinner here the other day. We’ve frequented a few restaurants along the mile but never here. It was a beautiful day and we sat outside along the water. We started with a few drinks, I had the spicy Margarita. It was delicious l, not to spicy just perfect. For appetizers we had the crab cakes (2 on the plate) and chicken quesadilla which was on the appetizers list and came with fries . Both were very good. I’m trying to lose a few pounds so I opted to have a salad. He had the whole snapper (fried) with yellow rice and plantains. His food looked and smelled delicious. Mines not so much. I will say it taste ok but the presentation was poor. I had the house salad with steak. I kinda take some responsibility because the menu did say iceberg lettuce and I’m not really a fan of iceberg. But I ate it anyway. I will definitely suggest that they work on the presentation and also ask how the customer likes the steak. Other then that I enjoyed my experience. The waiter was very pleasant and helpful. They offer valet parking right across the street and it is free but I strongly encourage you to tip these guys. Will I ever go back? Sure, but I’m definitely not ordering that salad anymore 😜

We really wanted to sit outside, but we’re not able to because somebody had booked the whole outside so we were inside. Food was great servers were fantastic. We did not get any view of the water so it was like dining in any other restaurant.

Came here on a slow night. We had the shirmp appetizer, which is a small portion and okay. The main entree was good. There are indoor and outdoor sitting with a view of the water. Dislike that the restaurant automatically adds 20% gratuity to your receipt in addition to a tip guide.

I give this dish here a 10/10 So freaking good!! I'm coming back just for this. The salmon was succulent moist and seasoned just right. The mashed potatoes had the right amount of lumps lol and with that butter sauce to go on top was everything!!! Can't wait to come back. Thanks for great service

Upon entry we were seated and the waitress were very attentive to our needs. However once we got the food it was not the best, the spaghetti felt rubbery and tomato sauce or plate felt like it was a day old. I didn’t like the presentation of the food nor the quality. Looked like they just mixed a lot of seafood in the spaghetti and just put it in the plate. I also order a mojito and it was gross. Based on the reviews and prices of the menu I thought it was going to be good quality authentic food but it wasn’t I was very disappointed.

Amazing experience, me and my wife came to this restaurant for brunch. Great food and drinks wonderful atmosphere. Our server Sebastian took really good care of us. The manager Roberto was also very gracious to us, we will definitely go back many more times in the future. 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

I did like the music and beautiful atmosphere. I was there for a Guyanese, West Indian party. I happened to walk by and went inside. The music was great. I did not eat because I wasn't hungry. Cover charge was $10 that night. You can exit and re-enter.

Hibiscus was the first venue I checked out on The Nautical mile. Friends had told me about the area but being from NYC I didn't really have many occasions to vist the region. Despite a busy looking weekend we were seated by the water. The view was beautiful. There's something about food with a view (over water) that can't be matched. Meanwhile, service was efficient. Drinks and food was brought out in short order. We ordered oysters and several of their apps. Don't shy away from their spicier options. Those were some of the best parts of the menu! The other thing I recall was the fact that the DJ was killing it with their mix. I heard Dancehall, Afro Beats, Reggaeton, Dembow etc. I would've stayed to dance if we weren't looking to check out other venues. I can't remember the DJ's name but I took his card. I'll come back and add it to this review if I find it. Bottom Line: This place is a must visit during warm weather months. Don't worry about parking. There's a complimentary valet service across the street.

Place sucks. mile is dead, and pretty much finished, dont bother going. There are so many better options out there, like Sonnys Canal House in Baldwin just down the road.

Hibiscus is one of the larger restaurants on the mile. It's very nautical wood old style inside. The food is pretty good Ive eaten here a few times and never had a bad experience. The service is always very nice as well. The upstairs also has a private room for parties and such. One of my favs on the mile for sure

I love outdoor seating when the weather was nice so I was excited to come here for that. They have a decent sized outdoor area with an outdoor bar along the water. For appetizer, I got hot wings which were pretty good. For a main course, I got the fried shrimp basket. It came with six shrimp. The shrimp were very greasy and soggy. If I do come back here, I would try a different meal.

Here's the Scoop! A group of my Soror Sisters and I came here for lunch. The menu really had some items that were tempting to order but our time was limited because after the lunch we were going on a boat ride as well. There are many restaurants to choose from on the Nautical Mile. This was recommended to us. They have outdoor, downstairs and a private seating upstairs where our group was seated. Nicely air conditioned, elevator too. Our food was brought out looking delicious and hot. Out waiter was very accommodating because we didn't want to miss our boat ride. Check out my pictures to see some of the delicious dishes we ordered. I ordered the shrimp basket and it was delicious.

5 stars is for Adam ONLY. He had the entire bar on his side of the room to avoid Mira who was an actual drunk mess only interested in flirting with the men over actually doing her job. Great service ADAM!

Three stars for atmosphere and vibes. Came with a friend on a Wednesday evening around 4:45 and sat at the outside bar. It was early and quiet. There was just one bartender working. Anyway, while she was pleasant, service was lacking. Couldn't even get eye contact for most of the time. The bugs and the bees were a bit unbearable after 30 minutes so we mover to a table. We'd ordered apps and were told that one of the items was unavailable. Wouldn't you know it? It turned up on our bill anyway and the bartender looked confused initially. The chicken fingers, fries were very obviously cooked from frozen pre made. The Margarita was made from a mix that tasted very chemically. The kung pao calamari was chewy and cloyingly sweet this day. I've ordered via ubereats and they weren't bad then. Needless to say, we left after an hour and headed elsewhere for a nice meal and better tasting drinks. I was pretty disappointed because I heard great things about the Hibiscus' other restaurants but the menu here is completely different than those and the flavors are sorely lacking.

Food sucks! Be careful if you order the cold lobster roll, which is $29. waitress will ask you if you want it cold or hot. I opted for hot and they don't disclose it's an extra $5 charge. When I inquired about it, the waitress said I don't know I just hit the button on the screen and it charges you more. Mind blowing response and customer service. I told her out of courtesy you should let patron know there's an up charge. Btw the bun wasn't warmed and there was little lobster meet. So the moral of the story is don't come here.

Came here for a birthday party and they set this up for us! It was very pretty! There were great drink options and even some veggie options here. The location on looking the water was great. In the evening they had live music that we could watch from the balcony or take the steps to go down for some dancing. The service was great and every one was very friendly. I accidentally poured some wine and they helped clean it up real quick. Once it got a little dark we had an amazing dj upstairs who took requests! The prices here was totally worth it. I was worried about getting parking but they had complementary valet so it was very convinient! Will def be coming back here again!

I'm going to rate this place based on an empty Tuesday around 5pm. The service was very very slow (you would think it would be faster because we were the only people in there). I had to leave the table to find the waitress because she kept disappearing. The bathroom was gross... and it is only one stall for the entire restaurant. The sink was leaking all over the floor when I walked in. My grandmother had a tough time using the bathroom (not for old people for sure). The only reason why I gave two stars was because our food was good. I will not be returning.

This is a must go to restaurant. The food was over the top amazing. The service was fast even tho the place was packed. The music and atmosphere was pleasant. I will definitely go back again and again. Joe our waiter was very attentive. Totally not disappointed.

I don't know where to start with this place . Let me start from the time we made a reservation, we were never told the elevator was down the air conditioner was broke. Nor were we asked if we needed handicap accessible needs. We have never been here before so what would make us ask.. my grandmother with walker had to have walked up at least 16 steps. They didn't even try to make accommodations for us when we showed up. Horrible customers service should have known why the place was scarce. The manager on the other hand Roberto ( Mr attitude) witnessing how he spoke to his of it was my establishment would be GONE period poo! Rude as hell! I went to speak to see what was going on with the Air conditioner, so one of the waiters let him know what was going on he responded back to his staff very abruptly ( who's asking and why are you asking me that! You know it's not working! And walked away as the waiter was trying to let him know I wanted to speak with him.. the waiter tried to approach him again to let him know I was waiting. Roberto decided to stand there with an attitude asking him why I wanted to speak with him and what was I saying as I'm standing right there being completely ignored.. the waiter came back clearly feeling bad of the treatment the star managers was giving out. 25 min later Mr manager him self decided to come up stairs to the sweat box to ask me what was wrong with attitude In hand, so I proceeded to ask why weren't we told.. no air conditioning or elevator use when reservations were made. He decided to tell me that I made reservations originally for outside and I changed the plans. I clearly let him know that we did not. Also tried to explain my 80 year old grandmother had to walk up all these steps to now sit in a sauna room!!! Completely unexceptionable - instead of him being understanding or taking accountability he was rude talking over me and basically stating it was our fault. No customer skills at all.. just argued back no concern or remorse.. I basically let him know you have horrible management skills/ customer service skills. And i rather no longer wish to speak with him I would rather speak to the owner too let him know the type of people he has running his establishment sucks.. no wonder why it was empty. This place deserves not even one star.. food was horrible my salad looks old as if it was sitting for awhile uncovered in the fridge. We send two entrees back because nasty.. unless you're going for the drinks and the music not worth it

Eating outside on the deck portion of the restaurant and saw mutiple rats playing tag [at least 6] where I was eating... Stay away from this place. Our attendent said she was getting the manager neither her or the manager returned. After waiting about 30 mins i went to seek out the manager whose name is Richie who 1st proceeded to tell me he wasnt aware of the rat issue but soon as i mentioned it was unsanitary to eat and have rats running across your feet he then mentioned they called an exterminator about it. Either way he lied. The situation went unresolved with very lil compensation... STAY AWAY!!

A group of us went to this restaurant to see a friends band play. They have a valet parking lot across the street. We pulled in and when I spoke to the attendant he said the cost was $30.00. I said $30.00? That's ridiculous. We explained that we were going across the street to listen to the band and have dinner and drinks. The attendant then dropped the price to $20.00. We ended up reluctantly paying. He then told me to find a spot and park the car. So much for valet parking. We got inside and was sitting for awhile when a woman came in and asked for the manager. She was directed towards two gentlemen standing to the side. She asked what was the price to park across the street? They asked her why she wanted to know. She explained that she heard that people were charged different prices and some people weren't charged at all. Obviously they had a scam going on. The "manager" would not answer her question and she repeatedly asked what is the price. Eventually the manager got angry and got into the woman's face and yelled that she works for him! She said I'm a customer I don't work for you. He then told her to get out of his face and back up. At this point the manager was very aggressive towards the woman. I was shocked and couldn't believe what I was seeing. As he walked away he actually bumped her. She was shocked. He then went up to the band and told them to calm down the woman or the band and the woman had to leave. I was very shocked considering how unprofessional the manager was handling the situation. Including physically bumping the woman. There were a lot of people watching how this played out and was shocked at the manager's behavior. We will never be back at this dump. They scam you with parking and If you have a problem and want to speak to management you can expect to get bullied. Stay away!
