It is pretty late in the season so take that in consideration. The staff was great. Very helpful and friendly. The course however was a disaster. There were more weeds in some parts of the fairways than grass. Greens weren’t bad. Tee boxes were also filled with weeds and not anywhere near flat. But like I said, end of the season. Gunna try again next year.

Hickory hallow will forever be my favorite golf spot! The staff is great! The course is great! They are so helpful for new golfers! I 100% recommend this place! Especially Jerry in the office- he’s amazing!

Google
Nice course and kind staff. A couple really pretty holes and lots of mature trees. Feels like a really spacious area. Quite a bit of water and variety in the holes. Not an easy course but still enjoyable as a beginner. I wish there were more bathrooms and those they have certainly need some TLC. This course was also fairly well kept and I imagine it is pretty dry even in the wetter months.

Played 9 here today. Course is in great condition. Greens are spot on. Rough is thick and adds to the challenge. Was not too busy for a beautiful saturday morning. Tee times were spaced out perfectly. Shawn the head manager is a great guy, we really enjoyed playing this morning!

Google
This is one of the nicest golf courses for the price. The greens and tee boxes are perfect. Obvious not a country club but still very beautiful. Easy going place.

Google
They are improving conditions there, and it's always a fun round of golf. I would like to see a few elevated tee boxes added to the course if I had my way.

Google
Super fun golf course — very nice clubhouse, great driving range, helpful staff — I really enjoyed playing here! It’s also nice being right next to other courses — I imagine it would be a serious golfer’s dream.

Nice course. Some challenging holes. Lots of leagues so quite busy.

Yelp
Our Golf group chose Hickory Hollow this week, we were pleasantly surprised, they have new owners. 1st we were greeted by the starterl went in and paid $37 for 18-holes, "Senior Rate" . I had a great round 87, but when we made the turn Lauryn greeted us and was very impressed that the Hot dogs were good & she Graduated from Mich. State which was a bonus. After our 18 holes Aubrey greeted us with 2-pitchers of beer & was also a State Graduate. Note: l thought $37 was excessive being that there compared to Sycamore Hills next door Cracklewood, Timberwood, and the "Myth" $28 for Seniors every Tuesday‍ Don't miss Handsome, the afternoon starter, he's a character ‍

Yelp
The front nine is not terrible, but the back nine may be the worst in the country. It has been under construction the entire summer and some holes can be difficult due to trying to hit around pipes, a giant lagoon that smells like sewage, and construction vehicles. Also, the owner is incredibly rude.

Yelp
course condition not bad but the service was terrible! we called for our tee time and said we wanted 18 but then it was a hot day so we ended up playing nine we went into the club house and got a long lecture on how they don't do refunds unless it was there fault so we walk out and then he calls us back and gives un a 5$ rain check that ends in October overall not impressed with the service DONT GOLF HERE!!

Yelp
We had a golf outing at this place for a charity event. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the grounds are well-kept, and the bathrooms are clean. Few things happened that I didn't care for: 1. They didn't have any Bell's Two-Hearted at the very beginning of the tournament. There were no other craft beers available except Oberon (not my fav). They need to work on this. 2. We weren't finished with our last hole (we had a shotgun start) and they put a 3-some in front of us. Come on, let us finish up before you start putting people in front of us. The 3-some were also pretty jerky about it... not that the golf course is at fault here for their attitude, but the staff shouldn't have let them start until our group was done. 3. The food for the outing wasn't the best and they only had ONE girl serving and it was like her first day. She was a very sweet/kind person, but they needed to have someone else there helping her serve (since it wasn't self-serve.)

Yelp
A challenging,ok course- but most courses are challenging for me ! Very decent - lots of long yardage holes. Easy check in - had a Groupon. Pace of play was fast. Never had to wait for anyone and we only had a three some. Greens were really fast.

Matt V.

Yelp
Everytime I play here they book the tee times way to close together. Backed up every hole.

Yelp
If you want the feeling of golfing in a swamp you've come to the right place! Total wetland 3 days after rain. Our cart got stuck in the mud and the owner himself came out just to cuss us out! Threw an F-bomb with the first word that came out of his mouth. Absolutely disrespectful. Save your time and go to either of the two other golf courses next to this marsh. *hole 8 pictured*

Yelp
Long time member , Terrible greens terrible cart paths , rude @ register ,no rangers to keep the back ups to a Minimum . they made some improvements but not to justify the increase in fees from last year . Sad

Yelp
This could be a good golf course to play on but be aware, they've cut large trees down that are on the fairway and they've not removed them! I don't know why anyone would allow those dead trees to remain there. There such an eye sore and a real hazard for players!

Laura B.

Yelp
Women golfers beware! My friend and I finished 9 holes in under two hours and were told to pick up the pace. We were being held up by an all male foursome ahead of us, but were watched and told to play faster from the minute our cart left the clubhouse. Very disappointed in how we were treated and won't be returning.

Yelp
A couple of years ago, Hickory Hollow was all about sold to a developer; so the course was left to nature . . . the fairways were terrible and the greens unplayable. apparently the deal fell through, so the owners were forced to spend money on improving the course. This year the course was actually pretty good. It's a good test for your average golfer and very challenging, especially #9, a Par-3 over water which plays long. The greens fees are decent, especially if you have a GroupGolfer voucher. Overall, a very good course, decent price, well managed.

Yelp
I am a new(er) golfer, while I was never there in its earlier (and from what I hear worse course) years. I enjoyed the course and found that everyone was helpful and having a good time and enjoying themselves. Its a nice lower cost course compared to some of the higher prices. For a guy like me that shoots over a 100, I don't really care to be spending top dollars at one of the nicer courses until I can appreciate it and not be swearing, taking the lords name in vain, cursing whores etc for most of the time. SO if your looking for an affordable place to go out and enjoy nature while chasing your ball through the rough and trying to fish your ball out of water hazards and doing the above mentioned cursing, this is a nice place to do it. I will update my review after we hold our 1st Annual Six Degrees Glow Golf Event on Sep 8th, 2012. But they seem to be very helpful and accommodating to groups. I did break a club on a tree but it was purely my fault trying to act like some PGA golfer instead of kicking the ball out from under the tree like my golf partner suggested. Totally not the trees fault.

Yelp
Awful experience. Deb was very unprofessional and rude. I attended a Fundraising event for my friend, whose son passed away 5 years ago at the age of 5 from brain cancer. This was the 2nd annual golf outing in which she raises money for St. Jude Hospital. My friend brought a lot of business to this Golf Course. Deb, being rude as she could possibly be, was singling out and picking on the younger attendees. We were all there for one cause. She specifically cut my friend and I off from drinking because she (and I quote) did "not like my attitude." She claimed she told me not to walk on the green, but apparently I walked on it. I apologized and told her I did not hear her say that to me. (I'm not a golfer in the first place so I wasn't even sure what i walked on!). She then proceeded to point her finger at me and yell at me to go to the club house because I was not golfing. She had no reason to treat me in the manner that she did. At the clubhouse, she was pointing at me and my friend as she was talking to the bartenders and instructed them not to serve my friend and me. I had had a single beer in the 4 hours I had been there, as had my friend, so we weren't "drunk" and should not have been cut off. When I asked Deb what her reasoning for cutting me off was, she said she simply did not like my "attitude" and she can cut off whoever she wants to. I told her that was not professional and wasn't right which angered her even more. Apparently Deb like to use her authority to scare people and if they don't succumb to her requests, she has a b*tch-fit. She then told me she wanted me off her property. She kicked me out of a fundraising event for my friend's child. Unbelievable. Deb is clearly a cold, heartless woman. Beware of Deb. I do not reccommend Hickory Hollow Golf Course unless you like to be treated like a child.

Yelp
I was just there recently this past weekend to golf with a couple of friends and when we showed up I made an honest mistake and did not read the fine print that explained that i could not use my groupon before 1pm. I was obviously upset but not angry and asked the guy "Paul" behind the counter if there was any way he would honor it. He replied no i will lose my job and continued to say you are not the first person to get F#$%ed by this. Very in appropriate because he did not know me and i was very offended by that. But whatever, my friends and I paid the full price to golf 18. When we got on the course it was in horrible condition mini lakes all over the front 9, so we decided to just play the nine and ask for a refund for the back 9. When we did so "Paul" called his manager Deb and said "you know the guys i told you about earlier they are back and want a refund for the back nine." After Paul and Deb small talked for a minute he relayed the message that it was their policy that they don't refund. I said well had I known the course was in the shape it was in I would not have golfed. They then said well if you weren't going to play 18 why did you pay for it (great customer service response). Deb then came on speaker phone and said well apparently no one else has an issue with the course. And she kept referring to their policy. Well since it was the policy i asked to see it in writing and she would not provide it. And i told her that if it was in your policy it should be in writing and/or displayed. So after bickering back and forth she offered a rain check I already told her that after this experience I had no plans to return to the course especially after the way the morning started. She said that is all she would do and i told her it wasn't good enough. She then said "sir if you continue to threaten my staff and accost them i will have to call the sheriffs". Never once did i swear or threaten anyone but to accuse me of something i did not do is beyond stupid. These people have no sense of customer service or apprehension of social skills. I will never be back. And according to another review this isn't the first time this lady has been called out for her poor customer service. This place needs to do something because right now it looks like the patients are running the asylum.

Yelp
We purchased a Groupon for Hickory Hollow Golf Course and was looking forward to using is on a Saturday morning. Called to book tee time (after reviewing the restrictions) and was told we can't honor that price at that time. We asked why? Reponse from HHGC - it is our discretion to not allow the Groupon at certain times. Our comeback, it does not state that on the coupon anywhere. HHGC response, Non golfers have destroyed our course so we are putting on restrictions. Would you like to golf after Noon. US - Um, NO not if your course is in such bad shape. AND what prevents NON golfers from golfing after noon anyhow. That seems like the time they would golf more! Makes no sense to us. Will get refund from Groupon and want everyone to know about this restriction even though it is NOT listed on the actual Groupon. They just make it up as they go along!, bad management if you ask me...don't waste your time with this course!

Yelp
The course itself was decent, nothing special but good for beginners. The main problem was the course manager, she is not a nice lady or a good manager. Before our round she was talking the course up like it was Agusta, which is fine and all except she tried to claim that the greens are the best in the state. The greens were not terrible, but they were no where near great. There was a lot of dead spots and they were very inconsistent speed wise. At the turn, she accused our group of bring in beers, which we did not. We bought the beers from the bar before the round. She threatened to call the cops until the bartender told her that we in fact bought them there. She offered no apology and told us to go tee off on 10 before she kicked us out for being rude. All we did was insist that we purchased the beer at the course. I would not recommend golfing there for the simple reason that the course is a little over priced and the manager is ridiculously rude. I know plenty of people who have had poor experiences with her. Go next door to Sycamore for a much nicer course, or down the road to Bello Woods for a nice beginner course. You will have a much more pleasant time at either of those courses.
