Top Dessert Spots in Bucks County

"The Hickory Stick in Perkasie offers both soft serve and hand-dipped ice cream options with a bevy of sweet toppings to add to your favorite refreshing treat. Order up a cup or a cone of your favorite ice cream flavor, with or without toppings, or opt for a sundae concoction, such as the hot fudge brownie or s’mores offering." - Kristen Kwiatkowski

This is a nice ice cream spot off the beaten path. Awesome selection of flavors and styles of ice cream. And it’s a real cool building! Their food options looked great (breakfast sandwiches on huge NY bagels). But we were there for the ice cream, and we weren’t disappointed. Hey, it’s not cheap, but it’s quality ice cream and privately owned, so it’s worth it. Parking is a bit tight and seating outside was pretty limited when we were there. But no complaints here. If we’re ever out this way again, we’ll be back!

NO ALLERGEN MENU - food allergy families beware. The ice cream truck came to my daughter’s daycare, the teachers and I asked about allergens (my daughter has a severe egg allergy) and was told there’s no egg. I called the main number after and was also told no egg. I pressed harder and the person I spoke to finally checked the ingredient list - IT CONTAINED EGG. They are not food allergy friendly.

Google
BEST peach ice cream I've ever had!!! Accidentally stumbled across this place and am so glad I stopped to check it out! The service was fantastic and there were so many flavors of ice cream. They also had different kinds of treats in the shop if you wanted something else...but why wouldn't you get ice cream 😂😂 Find this place if you want tasty, fresh ice cream and excellent service!

Google
Picked up some cakes for Easter, they were very tasty! The only issue was that we drove a long distance specifically to get a particular cake. We had called ahead, and the person on the phone told us there were plenty available. Unfortunately, by the time we arrived, they were all gone. It was a bit disappointing because we were really looking forward to trying that cake. Hopefully, this feedback helps improve customer service in the future. We definitely still enjoyed what we bought and plan to come back to try the original one we wanted!

Google
Such a cute little spot! Was in the mood for ice cream & just decided to pick a spot & try it out & I’m glad I found this one. Very friendly staff & lots of different flavors of ice cream + other goodies such as loaves, cookies, chocolate. I will be back for sure!

Google
Awesome place with great ice cream. Staff is kind and courteous. We asked if they had any pup cups, ice cream for dogs, and they didn't but they were able to facilitate our request with a small cup of peanut butter ice cream which we really appreciated. Will always recommend this place to people who are in the area. Open year-round and open late to so it's great after dinner.

We have been going here since they opened. Recently the owners opened another store and ever since the lack of ownership supervision on site has lead to a lot of inconsistencies. The ice cream is great…it’s quality ice cream. They also do offer a wide variety but the “common” flavors they list on their site as regulars are not regular at all and vary. I have driven 20+ mins to go there, because the ice cream is really that good, only to be disappointed time and time again that my “regular” flavor is not offered that night. I have been told I can always call first but when you do they either don’t answer or make you feel as though you are interrupting their night by calling. The very young staff there (often just 2 high school aged girls) are usually very nice but portions are extremely inconsistent. Not quite Chipotle level but close. The image below is what I got when I purchased an $18 quart. When I got home I pushed the ice cream down and it barely was half the container. For $18?!?! As much as I love the ice cream I just don’t think I can support this store any more. You will likely enjoy your dessert when you go your first time. If you go back for a second trip or more though don’t expect the same experience as the first time

Google
Visited recently and everything was great! Lots of flavor choices, clean and the servers were very friendly and did a great job. Also, the prices are very reasonable and the portions are huge!

Yelp
I have been wanting to try this for ages but I'm not usually around this area. It was pretty busy when I went because it was a nice day, I'll start by saying that don't have a lot of parking but they do have outside seating which is nice! The building is cute but the inside is a little dingy looking. It's definitely like older. The ice cream was good but it wasn't anything special - I don't believe they make it themselves, but I could be wrong. It was a good stop but I don't think it'll warrant a drive out there unless I'm close by. They sell a lot of other products too from other local businesses. I didn't see anything about the zen den coffee but if I'm not mistaken they did buy out their receipts. That would have been nice to try.

Yelp
Cute ice cream parlor in an old historic schoolhouse makes for a charming setting. Lots of creative flavors to choose from. Unfortunately we found our choices just far too sweet, but that's just our tastes. Not a lot of parking.

Yelp
Really nice people, really average ice cream. Mine didn't have any ice crystals in it, but my friend said his had a lot of them... obviously that's not ideal. We agreed that it was just like getting any tub of ice cream from the grocer. But they're exactly what they claim to be; it's not a small batch hand churned thing - that happens to be my particular jam, though. There was a super long line and I'm glad they're doing well. They seem like great people, and it works for an ice cream fix.

Yelp
Great spot. Fantastic ice cream and service. We love their ice cream sandwiches! We always buy them to take home. Looking forward to trying their new breakfast added.

Yelp
Recently moved to area & with the current heat wave, I needed some ice cream. I can't remember the flavor I ordered exactly but it was delish. Vanilla, chocolate, marshmallow swirl and chocolate nibs. The hubs ordered peanut butter swirl (in vanilla base). He enjoyed his single scoop cup. There were so many different flavors in addition to the traditional ones. And to my surprise, they carry a famed Kensington item... Stocks pound cake. The Philly girl came out in me. Glad I can get an around the way item in the suburbs.

Yelp
This is a hidden gem in Perkasie!!!!! great ice cream but also premium coffee and pastries!!! if your a coffee lover they have a awesome local co Backyard beans nitro on tap!! also delicious coffee drinks super friendly service too! definitely recommend and want to do what i can to support this small business ...

Yelp
Went here tonight and asked for a small in a cup, and was given 1 small scoop that didn't even fill up half the cup! It looked like a kiddie in small cup. $4.25 for that was way over priced

Yelp
Very quaint country ice cream shoppe. Variety of flavors of ice cream and water ice. Love that they have loaves of Stocks pound cake for sale. ($18.95 ) but if you're craving it, you don't have to ride to Philly to get it. And chocolate candy for sale by the pound. Sundae was creamy and delicious and comes with whipped cream and a cherry standard. Outside tables with a nice view. You can pick up a T-shirt too. A little pricey that's why 4 stars, but would recommend a visit if you're in the mood for ice cream or a milkshake.

Yelp
Way overpriced and obviously not pushing mask wearing as they should. Family of 5 all Over the store without masks. Store owner not happy that I sent a private message about it. She was offended that I had asked about signs. ‍

Yelp
Business like the Hickory Stick make Perkasie the unique small town that it is! The Hickory Stick mainly serves ice cream, but they also serve coffee and various other baked goods/treats from the Philadelphia area. I've been to Hickory Stuck multiple times for their ice cream - I have tried almost every flavor and they're all delicious! Support local and shop small, you won't regret going to the Hickory Stick!!

Keith B.

Yelp
Very good ice cream. Location is good however parking can be a little weird. Not a whole Lotta space particularly when it's busy. Service is great!

Yelp
Awesome Ice cream and atmosphere. With all the craziness lately this place still feels normal Well keep coming back again and again

Courtney S.

Yelp
A little expensive but worth it because the staff is always helpful and the ice cream is seriously delicious! They let me taste test a wild flavor (monkey bones) and it was definitely worth it! Absolutely delicious. They also do doggie size ice creams for your four legged friends!

Sarah S.

Yelp
Popped in for some ice cream on a Thursday evening about 30 minutes before close. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Even brought the dog treats (that we bought there and forgot to take - doH!) outside to us. Ice cream was very tasty!!! We had a peanut butter theme, Hubby got the chocolate with pb and i the pb cookie ice cream. They said they serve coffee type drinks until 4 pm if I recall.

Yelp
This is a cute little ice cream shack right across from Hawkeyes! Their ice cream is delicious so are their chocolates and pastries! High recommend trying this place out! The girls that work there are super friendly as well! Love this place!!

Fiona M.

Yelp
Favorite place to get ice cream in Buckingham, and now a perfect occasional treat for my family. Love the cookie monster flavor and couldn't find better anywhere else. (even in different states) Lovely place and would definitely recommend to anyone who wants good ice cream.

Yelp
Needed a gift card. Emailed company and got response right away. Helped me through entire process. Hope my friend enjoys the treat!!!

Yelp
The ice cream was very good, but it took a while for us to get all our desserts because there was only one person working the entire shop. The one downside was the multitude of wasps when sitting outside...

Yelp
Great little ice cream spot. A reconstructed schoolhouse makes for an open floor plan and typical wrap around freezers full of ice cream and Italian (water) ice. Kids work the counter so expect less than exceptional service, especially when it's busy. Only problem with the place is that the "credit card machine is broken, cash only"....its been broken every time we've been here.

Yelp
Awesome! Best place around for real cream ice cream! Thankfully they are opened for another season. This is a one of a kind place for luscious treats!!!

Pam N.

Yelp
I've been visiting off and on for years. Since the new owners opened a little while ago, the selection of products offered has expanded. They offer coffees and teas, baked goods, and even some gluten-free goodies. Something for everyone. The people behind the counter are super-friendly, and while you occasionally have to wait for service, it has been because they are hand-dipping or making treats for the folks in front of me. I don't mind because it gives me time to be tempted by things I never noticed before. Could prices be cheaper? Maybe. I don't notice they are any more expensive than other ice cream parlors. Except maybe DQ, but then that isn't really the same type of business, is it? Try the waffle sundae!

Christine N.

Yelp
Had been here several times this summer. Service was great, fresh products and lots of flavors of icecream to choose from. Servings always generous. Went tonight and it felt like a different place. Servings were incredibly small compared to previous visits. Don't think we will return again - can't see spending $8.00 for one cup of ice-cream (yes one cup total made up two dishes)!! Very disappointed !!!

Rebecca D.

Yelp
Ice cream is yummy and the atmosphere is really cute but the staff is a bunch of teenagers that are not very friendly. Also, they are constantly running out of things. Seems like their ice cream purchasing is geared mostly toward children, ie: Cookie Monster flavor and kids stuff.

Yelp
Ice cream was very good, and service was quick and polite, especially during the Saturday night rush. Would definitely recommend Hickory Stick to everyone

Yelp
Hickory stick is a great place to come for some nice homemade ice cream or water ice. Prices are very reasonably priced for the amount of ice cream you get. A small is two scoops and a large is three scoops. They have some nice outdoor seating to relax and enjoy your dessert along with those you came with.

Donna R.

Yelp
Staff was very rude and inattentive. I had to wait while girls talked amongst themselves. They were unfriendly and seemed annoyed that my kids wanted to try different flavors. This was the second time there. First time was great. Very lovely staff the first time. Not sure why this time they were horrible but it was such a poor experience that I won't go back again. Very sad since it's a cute place locally owned. The icecream wasn't good enough to overcome the poor experience. Customer service is truly important.

Chenz S.

Yelp
Love this place! The owner is great and so nice! The ice cream is all so good. Such a cool building too.

Samantha S.

Yelp
I came by this ice cream shop a couple of years ago and again the other day, and it must be under new management because the changes they have made are great! They have a full coffee bar, teas, baked goods, and obviously a ton of options for frozen treats and sweets. We ordered a PB Heaven sundae, a banana split (GIGANTIC!), and a root beer float. All were tasty and enjoyable. There is an old fashioned wooden bench on the porch where you can sit, or a few tables with umbrellas. Peaceful little oasis. The young girl who served us was such a sweetheart too. Clean and inviting. We will be back!

Molly D.

Yelp
Good Ice Cream, outdoor seating, parking lot is tight, can sometimes park at Hawkeyes across the street, NO BATHROOM, but good ice cream and closer when compared to O Wow Cow

Chris G.

Yelp
We absolutely LOVE the Hickory Stick! They have so many delicious ice cream option and a new coffee menu! My biggest problem is I have a hard time deciding because it's all so delish!

Debbie C.

Yelp
Delicious ice cream, great customer service, awesome selection of flavors. Ice cream is fresh and tasty. Highly recommend!!!

Yelp
This is a great ice cream spot. They serve Tanners ice cream and have a lot of flavor options. The portions and prices are really good. They have some picnic tables outside, just lacking some seating inside on cold or rainy days. Definitely worth a stop if your in the area.

Patricia G.

Yelp
Very tasty ice cream, nice selection of flavors. Very reasonably priced for the amount of quality ice cream per serving size. We took the grandkids twice during our visit to the area and we were all very happy with our selections. The service was friendly and efficient. We were able to sample a couple of different flavors in order to help us make our selections. The outdoor, umbrella picnic tables are convenient. The shop was clean and orderly.

Patti Anne L.

Yelp
Nice place! First time we went. Cold and rainy night but the parking lot was packed and it was a bit busy inside. Staff was nice. They have 4 round picnic tables outside. My only suggestion is that they put tables inside too. There's plenty of room but we went with family we met for dinner across the street since we couldn't "sit together" we just stood around. Aside from that - ice cream was Leidy's not Tanners as previously suggested by other posts. It was still yummy and worth the money - good size portions. We will go back again!

Laura V.

Yelp
Love this place. Just moved to the area and this was one of the first places we tried. Its an old school house transformed into a ice cream shop. They have ice cream, milkshakes, water ice and local soda. Everything is DELICIOUS! Free soft serve for dogs too!
