A week ago, we recently spent three glorious days at Hidden Canopy Treehouses Boutique Hotel and it is hard to find the words to express how fantastic it was. We all found that the communication with Hidden Canopy was outstanding as we had a bit of a drive to get there from our prior location in Costa Rica. We arrived with ease and the welcome with Jennifer (the concierge) was outstanding. Every detail was explained and we were totally aware of all that we needed to know. We then took the easy to walk paths to Rivendell and arrived to the sounds of howler monkeys in the distance. Once we settled we could see toucans flying across the valley. It was magical and our treehouse was stunning. Well appointed does not begin to give it justice. The rooms are big, comfortable and with amazing views from every window, but the cherry on top was/is the showers - ours was like we were showering in the forest - hot, steamy and tons of pressure - it was one of the best showers I have ever had! ||The rest of the stay was a total WOW:|| (1) BREAKFAST - every morning we had a hot breakfast that was made to order and with a special treat each morning. The plating was beautiful, the food perfectly prepared and simply delicious (pro tip - don’t skip the home made toast, or decline the special and always go with the homemade sauces -)|(2) TEATIME- which could be a nice cup of tea but could also be a lovely glass of cold sangria, bird and sunset watching in the main building was a highlight. And did I say how good both types of sangria was - but the white was simply divine! Sitting there visiting with Jen and Gary, having the cats around and being surrounded by nature are evenings you will never forget.|(3) TOURS- we took two tours with the one-and-only Koky. He is Hidden Canopy’s gem. He knows everything about the natural surroundings and at times we could not tell if he was doing the call or the birds! He knows trees, flowers, birds, animals, the ecosystem - all of it and is so free with his expertise and knowledge. He is a treasure - who got us views of all the amazing birds (and chicks) and photos to prove it! We are enternally grateful we got to meet him and see him do his thing. It is so obvious how much he loves his country. If you come you HAVE to take a tour with Koky. |(4) STAFF- from the cooks, the bellmen, the drivers to dinner and those who made our rooms look so great we thank you. They are family to Jen and Gary and they treat you like family when you are there.||In summary, I am not sure we will ever replicate our experience at Hidden Canopy. It was a 10 star stay - if you are considering it, just do it - you won’t be disappointed.
