Hiden - Review - Finsbury Park - London - The Infatuation

"Whoever said that to be a jack of all trades is to be a master of none had clearly never met Hiden. The Japanese curry shop is a hard-working, helpful spot in Finsbury Park that takes you from coffee and pastries in the morning, to massive croissants filled with chicken katsu at lunch, to fragrant curries in the evening. The food is good, solid stuff that appeals to the part of our brain that likes weighted blankets. Go in the morning for a peaceful, solo pit stop involving good coffee and a croissando—a large, not-very-sweet pastry that comes filled with katsu chicken, tartare sauce, and Japanese brown sauce. Or, visit in the evening with a small group for a quick, low-key dinner of flavoursome beef curry. It’s all tasty and comforting, and the dining room, with floor-to-ceiling windows drinking in the light and mood-boosting mustard yellow paint, is uplifting at any time of the day. photo credit: Hiden photo credit: Sinéad Cranna photo credit: Hiden Pause Unmute" - Sinéad Cranna

This is a lovely, cosy Japanese restaurant on Stroud Green, just a short stroll from both Finsbury Park and Crouch Hill stations. I ordered the Team Hiden with a ginger tea and it was absolutely delicious — I’d definitely recommend it. I’ve also tried the lentil curry and sampled their various sakis; it’s well worth trying the different variations. The restaurant has a cool, trendy yellow décor, and they offer a great range of teas, coffees, matcha — just really solid Japanese food and drink overall. The staff are very friendly, likeable, and provide excellent service. They also have toilet facilities for those dining in, and coffee lovers can pick up a loyalty card. Highly recommend visiting this place.

Its my second time in Hiden! Really enjoyed the food here! Very very tasty! Brought me back to Japan! This time the curry bread and katsu sando amazed us! Also the sweet potatoes latte!! Very special! Last but not least, kinako pudding tastes good!

I popped into this curry place when I was wandering around Finsbury Park and decided to try the vegan red lentil curry. It was quite spicy, which I actually liked. The dish was simple, just curry and rice, but it came with a small side salad, which was a nice touch. I didn’t love the food presentation, as it looked a bit sloppy and quite brown in colour, which made it less appealing, although that’s often the nature of curry dishes. The café itself had a relaxed, homely feel with cute shelving displays and a cosy atmosphere. The staff were friendly but low key, and it’s a nice spot for a quick solo lunch if you’re working from home or nearby. I’m not sure I’d rush back, but I’m glad I stopped in to try it.

I’ve come a couple of times with friends and alone to quietly work/read and eat, this place is a special gem and every detail is carful, meticulous and delicious from the food, cutlery and decor. The kara-age and pumpkin croquette is scrumptious, hot and crispy, along with the three pudding dessert. The vibe and aura of this place is quite comforting and chilled out, you can tell there’s love in it, the staff is considerate and informative, it’s very different from the typical bougie cafe, you definitely feel like you have space to think or talk 💛 this place deserves more people to truly appreciate it! 💎

This place ia gem on Stroud Green high street (and its sister place in Coal Drops Yard is also amazing). A Beautiful funky interior, with delicipu omforting curry (we often go for the lentil curry with rice an pickles). They also make a lot of original snacks and drinks like matcha latte with strawberries, croissando, and other Japanese delights. Child friendly and relaxed.

Just came here tonight for dinner with my boyfriend and we were so pleasantly surprised! It is such great value for money and everything was equally delicious. Our mains came with miso soup which was a lovely touch. Will be coming back for sure.

An absolute hidden gem in London! The best chicken katsu curry I’ve ever had, crispy, perfectly cooked, and paired with a rich, flavorful curry sauce. The atmosphere is cozy, the service is warm and friendly, and the quality of the food is outstanding. If you love Japanese curry, this place is a must-visit. I’ll definitely be coming back! 😁🍛
