New Restaurants and Bars That Have Opened in San Diego | Eater San Diego

"Replacing Mr. Spicy, this place specializes in xiao long bao and boiled dumplings with fillings like pork and shrimp or beef and onions, and extends into comforting Chinese favorites such as dan dan noodles, house special chow mein, honey walnut shrimp, and orange chicken." - Candice Woo

The food is good here. We got here before 6:30 on a weekend and got seated right away. Just scan the QR code on the table to order from the menu. Great service and we didn't have to wait long for the food to come out. The chicken portion is a little bit small but the kids liked it. Price is reasonable. Parking is easy to find.

Attractively priced and absolutely delicious dumplings! The portions are generous, so you really get great value for your money. The staff is super friendly and helpful, making the experience even better. A fantastic casual spot for dumplings. I highly recommend!

Wow! Just wow!. Great service. Fresh, beautiful and delicious food.🤤 I'm 100% coming back and recommended. Boiled, stemmed or pan fried options. A highlight for anti-pork eaters....Beef dumplings too! 🥰 💥Easy parking too. Way better than the convoy district!

Gone a couple times and each time the quality seems to get worse which is a bummer because we were looking forward to having a more authentic Chinese restaurant nearby. The first visit we had hope but the followups have been disappointing. So, the inconsistency has a low score. Spicy crispy chicken we enjoy. Beef and broccoli was bland. Green beans were okay. Chow mein and Mongolian beef were good. Dumplings were not good at all.

Food is great, have eaten from here twice, always to-go. String beans are simpler than other places, but they're still good and I appreciate them not overpowering the other dishes. The spicy crispy chicken is good but feels that the plate comes with more peppers than chicken. Definitely going back.

On Good Friday, I stopped in to get some shrimp chow mien. It was pricey at $17 with a small tip. The food was delicious and there were lots of shrimp. Unfortunately, it was light on the noodles. If you are going to charge $16.15 for a plate, it should be filling. Noodles are not that expensive. Fill it up. It was delicious though.

Perfectly made comfort chinese food at very reasonable price. The quantity and taste is more than good enough. The noodles with chili oil was so good, that I forgot to take instant pics and later took the leftover pics..highly recommended!

These dumpling joints are becoming trendy and popping up all over San Diego! Hi Dumplings took over Mr. Spicy and they sell dumplings and traditional dishes. We ordered: -cucumber salad -scallion pancakes -xiao long bao -eggplant in brown sauce -spicy beef noodle soup -spicy chili wonton -pan fried pork and shrimp I love the noodle texture in the beef noodle soup. The xiao long bao are smaller with thin wrapping. I thought it was good but friends said they were previously frozen and not made fresh in house like the chili wonton. Because of that, we didn’t order another tray or try the crab version. The pan fried dumplings had perfect crispy edges and right amount of meat (although I think these were frozen too). The food was average but has potential to stay because we need this in the neighborhood. If you need a dumpling quick fix, this is the place. Will be coming back to try other dishes. 3.5 rounding to 4, excellent service.
