Higashimokoto Shibazakura Park

Visited on 14 May 2025 at around 2pm. Happy to see pink moss blooming. Pleasant weather. We walked all the way to the top of the hill. Beautiful scenery. Amazing experience.

This place boasts some truly special cherry blossoms. The colors are incredibly vibrant, and the sheer scale of the blooms is breathtaking. The scenery is simply stunning, and there are plenty of fun activities to enjoy as well. The only thing you need to worry about is having enough storage on your phone, because you'll be taking tons of pictures!

26/4/25 jus tried our luck swing by the park. As stated 3/5 officially opens. So we literally saw nothing although it’s one wk apart. I wonder how this pinkies gonna grow by 3/5?! Not even a young buds being seen in the park

Found this place through the T.V series (manga adaptation) Hokkaido Gals are Super Adorable! by Kai Ikada. I really don't read or watch romance genres and haven't had read any since 2021( in O/L's subject - English Lit story - Twilight of a Crane) . I would like to say this is my first romance (including rom-com and slice of life) story/anime I have come access since Twilight of a Crane wasn't found by me nor I read it intentionally at the beginning... I love both of them but this (Hokkaido Gals are Super Adorable!) , I really love this so much. The scenes really are from real-life locations. That's what makes this unique for me. And the love reaction (known as chemistry) going between them and also with others really feels natural especially with the environmental setting, Winter to sprint then summer to autumn. All the pictures/images uploaded with this comment are based on the anime Hokkaido Gals are Super Adorable! and were originally taken from the anime by myself. Went here during May23, peak blossom. It does look like moss from far and like a carpet too. There are plenty of photo spots and some eateries selling ice creams and fast foods. If you have problems walking, there is a mini bus service going around the park. The driver will drive very slowly so you can take pictures with ease and enjoy the view. We didn't have enough time to explore every inch of the park because of tight schedule. Maybe next time. Highly recommend if northern Hokkaido is part of your plan. From Sapporo will take about 4-6h. So it won't be a day trip.

The flower park in May is stunning with the vastness of the curated vibrant pink moss field. You can easily spend 2-3 hours enjoying various activities such as pond fishing, go-karting, and the free foot Onsen. The entrance fee is ¥600. While there’s a lot of walking, a mini bus service is available for those with accessibility issues or limited time.

Great place to visit. The Shibazakura were just started to come into full bloom. You can walk the paths up through the flowers, drive go-karts around a track at the bottom, get a helicopter view from above. The flowers were spectacular. The Sakura coloured soft serve from one of the vendors wasn't bad either.

If you are here in Hokkaido during mid-May, you must visit this Park as a bucket list to do. At this time the pink moss flowers are in full bloom like heavenly flowers on earth. The park also have food stores that sell convenient food and snacks only. Only wish they have a gourmet restaurant to complete a wonderful day. The rainy season at this time of the year is also problematic. The 6-hour drive along the freeway from Sapporo does not provide opportunity for restaurant breaks.

This was beautiful park to see small sakura moss flowers in bloom, but not 100% bloom, but more like 70% in bloom, located in town of Ozoro, this park was started by farmer who grew these flowers in his garden, but the town noticed small park and was eventally requested by Mookoyama Hot Spring Management public Corporation to plant more. He grew little by little every year which took him 8 years to complete the current park and now is attraction to locals and tourists. The corporation continues to maintain these moss flower every year after he retired in 2001. This park open from May 3rd to September 30th, 8am to 5pm. Admission fee for adults is 600 yen or 400 yen for groups of more than 10 people. Elementary children is 300 yen or 250 yen of groups more than 10 people. There is free parking for vehicles, but shuttle buses there is fee. Fee to take their sightseeing car is 500 yen per person, up to top, but need to walk down the stairs to get to bottom. There are so many spots to take photos and beautiful scenary that you will not regret being at. Very peaceful and nice weather. There are vendors at bottom for soft serve ice cream, wagyu meat and crepes. We purchase soft serve ice cream before we left as it was warm and hot. What refreshing way to cool down. Highly recommended if you are able to stop by here in spring and lucky to see almost full bloom. We came on May 16th.

Higashimokoto Shibazakura Park is a beautiful garden in the Hokkaido. This garden is seasonable and is has to be right time for the full blooming. Please study the hour of the full blooming before travel. The best way is to ask the travel agent. They are many type of Sakura. This type flower is the ground cover and the garden is fully grown of this type of flower. The flower name is the Shibazakura with 5 petals flower. It comes with purple, white, red, blue, and pink color. The whole hill is cover with this type of flower. It is pleasant to walk on this hill up and down to enjoy the moment of full blooming. Love it. Some of the area is grown in pattern like a cow. This area can be challenge if you want to climb or you can stay at the ground lever to look up the hill without climbing. A small sweater will be enough for the current weather.
