My sister in law, who is vegan, loves this place. As a non-vegan I enjoyed it. I got the plate of nachos. Plenty of food, which was nice and while I would've preferred chicken on my nachos, I recognize that the appeal of this place is the fact that they don't have chicken. It was still tasty. So all in all, it's a good vegan restaurant that even non-vegans can enjoy.

Amazing!! Not being a vegan- We always make sure to take our daughter (vegan) when she’s in town! These dishes Never disappoint me! I’m stunned of the rich amazing flavors! Oh and their home made bread.. you will just Love! From their nachos to cheesy veggie soup , French dip oh … the Ceaser salad and my favorite quesadillas!! Love the comfort and art on the wall. Great staff! Wonderful kind server yesterday at lunch!! Now we’re hooked and extremely Happy with High Note Cafe.. It’s a Must Go👏👏👏♥️

I'm not a vegan but my wife is. Happy wife, happy life! Having said that, this place is phenomenal! You wouldn't even know it was vegan! It was absolutely delicious, service was at 100% as well. It was overall just a magnificent experience and I highly recommend!

Google
I have been vegan for 5 years, a foodie my whole life. So when I say that this place instantly became my new favoritest (of all time) place to eat, I mean it with my whole heart. The service was wonderful, so attentive, friendly, and helpful! The atmosphere was fun, we LOVED the art on the walls and the music. But the food, I cannot stress enough how good it was. I’m a seasoned cook and I left questioning how I could ever match the deliciousness that we had. The portion sizes and prices are incredible too. We got so full from half our meal and the leftovers held together so well. I cannot stop thinking about the caesar salad. I have desperately missed them since I went vegan and this one was BETTER than any one I have ever had before. I cannot recommend this place enough, it was amazing! Cannot wait to go back!

Google
Friendly and prompt service, cozy but a little dark inside. The patio is probably the nicest seating option, weather permitting. The breakfast tofu scramble sandwich was delicious, especially the crusty thick toast and fresh orange slices. Mashed potatoes and gravy were tasty, lots of sage flavor. The gyro was well seasoned, although a little higher "meat" to lettuce ratio would've been nice. Nothing super inventive or surprising, but it's great to find a totally vegan place with so many tasty options. We would go back and look forward to trying more dishes next time we're in town.

Google
Tried the tofu scramble and gyro and both were excellent. Very fresh food. They don’t use microwaves or freezers.

Google
One of those places which serves plant based food but doesn’t compromise on taste. Service is a little slow but definitely recommend the place for its food. We tried their Loaded Nachos, and Breakfast Burrito. Both dishes really good. Among the food we ordered, we didn’t like their Tomato Basil Soup w/ Toast Their Beverage selection is a must try. Highly recommend the Fresh pressed Berry & Herb Juice, Berry & Herb Lemonade, and the Idaho Kombucha

Google
I was looking for a brunch place before my flight home and stumbled upon this sweet cafe. I was unaware it was vegan until I sat down and looked at a menu. The tofu breakfast burrito was great and I’ve never enjoyed tofu, until now. The server was very sweet. My only feedback was the music was a bit rough to listen to, I’m unsure what it was—potentially EDM. Regardless, we all have different tastes in music and I’d highly recommend stopping and eating at High Note Cafe. VEGAN OR NOT!!

Yelp
My son in law took me out to High Note and I was so thrilled with the place. The food is out of this world and there is so much of it!! The waiter was totally awesome to talk to and we found out that the owner used to work at Kulture Klatsh a restaurant my husband and I used to frequent. Even the color scheme was similar. They make your taste buds dance! I want to go back again and again.

Yelp
I've traveled around the world and have eaten a lot of vegan breakfast food, but this is one of the best things I've ever eaten! The gravy was absolutely fantastic.

Yelp
Nice brunch spot in downtown Boise near the capitol building. Outdoor shaded table tempted me for the dog and I. Bowl of ice water provided for my pup from the only server working there which gave me feeling she was the proprietor. Very invested in my having a good experience. The menu is decidedly "adult" brunch oriented. During my meal, I saw two parties with young kids go in, be seated and then leave almost immediately after looking at menu. No fruit loops here!!! I had a delicious vegetable scramble and when I ordered I asked if they had sourdough toast and she said, we make our own bread here. And wow, it's a thick cut beauty that makes amazing toast. Coffee just ok ... it didn't taste like an espresso base, more like regular drip coffee, but everything else was so good, I hardly noticed. Highly recommend as a great alternative to some of the boujier coffee places in the vicinity. Oh, and they have comedy open mic every Wednesday evening. That's gotta be a trip!!!

Yelp
I come here often just for the salads. The mix of textures with crunchy nuts and soft cheese is perfect. The portions are pretty big and always satisfying. Staff are always friendly and service is fast. It's my go-to spot when I want something light but flavorful.

Yelp
I love their nachos and the servers are so nice and attentive. They also have great gluten free options and amazing lemonade.

Yelp
I love this place. The interior is a bit dark and small, but the vegan food they serve is no joke! You get more than enough, and it's comforting in the way they put their flavors together...sauces, spices, everything. I've only been here a few times, but each time, I was completely satisfied. PS - this place is vegan, and a good one too. Unfortunately, there aren't a lot of vegan joints in Boise, and you may not have noticed this one if you drove by, so be proactive and go there. You'll be glad you did. Oh, and they now serve brunch ALL DAY!!!
google avatar

Jennifer F.

Yelp
The food is great. Sauces, soups, juices, seitan, and bread all made in house. Uses local ingredients often. Crazy vegan good. Female owned and locally owned. Usually one server covering the small interior and be prepared to wait during patio season! In regards to the interior, yes it is darker and there are local artists paintings on the walls. To that end, this building is historic. Wiring and HVAC ventilation can NOT be altered just as normal buildings. So can the place get smokey at times, yup, does it seem dark, yup. Is there music playing yup Does it all combine to make it charming, YUP.

Yelp
In an unexpected time in Boise we were staying within walking distance of High Note and had been told great things by our hosts. So we decided to check it out for a casual lunch. The atmosphere is cute and casual and very zen, with colorful paintings on the wall. There are some tables and chairs through the space but it ain't very large. I'm sure they have a lot of to go orders as well. The waitress was friendly and chatty and sat us down immediately with drinks. After a bit of time on the menu (had looked a bit online first) we were able to choose. I love that it is a plant based restaurant and I can get anything on the menu! Such joy! I ended up having the bean tacos and replacing the corn shell with lettuce. It was delicious! There maybe 10 small rounds enough for a few bites each and they exploded with flavor. The beans were well seasoned and the puck plus avocado made it fresh and tasty. I loved their house cashew queso as well as vegan house made Parmesan. Delicious!! My friends got the grilled cheese and also tacos (with shells) and were pleasantly surprised. Neither of them are vegan and they both said it was amazing. I would highly recommend this spot for lunch, a quick bite, take out or anytime!

Yelp
Really good vegan food. I'm not vegan and I thoroughly enjoy their breakfast sandwich. That said, the price is really high for what you get.

Yelp
Delicious every time! My favorite spot. Great ambiance and meal choices. Recommend for all!

Yelp
High Note located on North 5th in downtown Boise is a phenomenal story. If you're not aware of the story, sit down criss-cross apple sauce style, and I'll tell you. STORY-TIME High Note was not always a vegan restaurant. One night a couple of years ago, the owner, Maria, watched the documentary, 'Dominion' and it not only changed her personally but changed her professionally. Almost overnight, she scraped the existing menu, donated her existing food supply, created a vegan menu, and opened Boise's first all-vegan restaurant. As a vegan, it can be very difficult to navigate the restaurant scene. Some restaurants will have plant-based dishes or have dishes that are vegan but sometimes, cross-contamination occurs, or worse the dish is not truly vegan. There are a handful of restaurants that I trust to make my vegan dish. Other locations have claimed to do so but have failed as my body has told me so. It is important to understand that when a vegan is giving a non-vegan meal, there can be many side effects ranging from rash, abdominal cramps, dizziness, fatigue, and more. This is why it is important to have an all-vegan restaurant that knows every single ingredient is vegan, made without animal products or by-products. I am so proud to have supplied Maria and her restaurant with vegan cheese from The Butcher's Son in Berkeley, California for a limited time before Maria crafted her own vegan cheese. I am over the moon thrilled that the remodel has transformed High Note into the eatery that needs to be. The chefs and creators now have the space that they need to masterfully prepare the symphonic dishes that Maria creates. If you haven't had the chance to visit or perhaps you're scared to go into a vegan restaurant, first of all, don't be scared, you're going to be eating well. Very well indeed. Please don't subscribe to the notion that your plate will be blades of grass and a pine cone. Have you not seen the pictures on the Yelp page? MENU Oh Lordy, the Breakfast Burrito is massive. It is so freaking delicious. If you need to fuel up for Breakfast, the Breakfast Burrito is the way. Make sure to check out the soups. Nothing beats the frigid winter temperatures than a cup of High Note's soup du jour. Habanero Hominy Quesadilla - Did you say you wanted an orchestra of flavors in your mouth? If the answer is yes, then the HHQ is for you. Get ready to savor each delicious note of pasilla peppers, garlic, cilantro-lime cream, and homemade vegan mozzarella. Bruschetta Grilled Cheese will melt your heart and instantly become your favorite go-to. NOTES: Breakfast is served all day! Woohoo! Space is limited and due to immense popularity, it is possible for some menu items to be sold out. Check their social media posts on Facebook and Instagram for daily updates. High Note Cafe proudly is serving fresh, spray-free & locally grown produce by Global Gardens, Treasured Mushrooms, and Greenhouse West. In summary, if you haven't been since the remodel, or if you haven't been to High Note, it is time. Go with an open mind if you are new to the vegan scene and give it a try, you may just love it. Special shoutout to Maria and the team for being passionate foodies who never give up and give their best each and every day!

Yelp
Great place to sit back and enjoy a cup of great tasting Joe. Clean, with plenty of seating. Very relaxing atmosphere. Well priced with 2 -4 shots available. More than just coffee, pastries among other items available.

Yelp
I think that lunch is a better time to come. We came for breakfast/brunch on a Saturday and were not super impressed. The menu all seemed to be the same exact food just with different names. The majority of them had the same ingredients I got the sandwich and my Aunt got the torta and our food looked identical. They should really work on giving some variety to the menu. My husband said his potatoes were bland and was not impressed. I will say I did enjoy my food. I thought that the bread was great. We ended up sitting outside since it was so dark inside it was a bit uninviting. Service could have been faster.

Yelp
Literally the only all vegan restaurant in the Treasure Valley area. Small menu, but you have some classic options. Out of everything i've tried, I liked the bruschetta grilled cheese the most. I haven't disliked anything, but some items are definitely better than others. Place is small, but not a huge issue. Staff is friendly, everything is in order. Sometimes I find myself wishing for more options, but you take what you can get. If you have a vegan in the family, it's worth checking out at least once.

Yelp
Visiting Boise for a couple of days and of course had to explore the vegan restaurant scene. High Note was a true gem, a cafe that has not only outstanding food but also a vibe that my wife and I both enjoyed. I'll be honest: the food is just damned good, but it's not exactly health food if you know what I mean. Portions are generous, delicious, and a bit indulgent ~ which I was totally down for! The service was a bit slow, but because the cafe is small, cozy, and homey, we didn't mind. Our server was super friendly and never made us feel rushed. We enjoyed our meal so much that we're planning on going back again tomorrow.

Leigha S.

Yelp
Really good food, lots of brunch options. I would be wary of splitting the bill more than two ways. They're unable to split the bill with large parties. However, they give a discount for paying in cash! My friends and I come here about every other week. Customer service is really great too.

Yelp
I had some cousins visiting from out of town who are vegan and vegetarian so I did a search and found Highnote. We showed up on a Saturday night and we sat out on the patio. The staff was very friendly in greeting us. We had the Gyro, the soup of the day And the Pesto/mushroom sandwich and also had the hummus with pita chips as an appetizer ( so good) . Everything was absolutely delicious. I'm not even a vegetarian and I now eat here regularly. It has definitely become one of my favorites.
google avatar

Tom S.

Yelp
Excellent restaurant. The menu is small but with incredible flavors. All options are vegan but with a very unique take. Dining room is small but that just makes the service better. Had the breakfast potatoes with two great sauces. My mom had a veggie pita loaded with vegetables. I've walked past a few times and really glad I tried it. Definitely will be back.

Yelp
the waiter was a super cute girl but unfortunately the $17 pancakes that we had were underdone. the paintings were cool and the lighting was dim but they were chopping onions in the back and me and my friends eyes were burning for around 30 minutes after. the hot cocoa did not taste like cocoa. you can come here but be warned, it's not all good.
google avatar

Reina D.

Yelp
Ate they're twice while visiting and was pleasantly surprised. Loved everything I ate! My boyfriend said that it was hard to find good Mexican food in boise but their burritos were on point. They also have beautiful artwork on the walls. Absolutely recommend if you're looking for a great vegan spot.

Yelp
Excellent plant based diner! Soup , salad and juice were so yummy! It's a Boise gem!!!

Niki A.

Yelp
Love that there is a vegan place in Boise! Thanks for being delicious and good to animals :)

Mindy O.

Yelp
Disappointing. We stopped in at High Note for a quick lunch that turned into anything but. We ordered two sandwiches, a cup of soup, and some chips and hummus. We then waited an hour for our food, watching the table of four who ordered right before of us get their food, finish their meal, and prepare to leave, all with no update from our server. He finally let us know our sandwiches were being plated and would be out shortly. After watching the gentleman who came in after us finish his food, we finally got our meals. Our food was... fine. The breads were rather flavorless and dense, and definitely more bread than sandwich ingredients. The soup, a tomato bisque, was bland and watery, and overall, we were less than impressed, especially after such a long delay with no apology or explanation. Unfortunately, as much as I love to support a local restaurant, nothing about our experience felt worth paying $40 for a "quick" sandwich lunch. We won't be back.
google avatar

Lindsay N.

Yelp
The ventilation is terrible. It was so smoky in the restaurant we had to leave before we were finished because my nieces eyes were bothering her. I also had trouble with my eyes and ended up having to replace my contacts afterward. The food was pretty good. I enjoyed the pancakes but was disappointed my vegan breakfast tacos used chao cheese (or some other commercial slice) it wasn't homemade or melted. It sort of spoiled the nice mouth texture of the taco. We were also disappointed all the teas came sweetened and there wasn't any drink option that wasn't a sugar bomb unless you have water.
google avatar

Beata M.

Yelp
We are visiting Boise from out of town and found this place on Yelp. Inside is small and cozy with cool paintings on the walls. I had a mimosa with my food and it's hands down one of the best mimosas I have ever had! It was with freshly pressed raspberries and mint. It's a must try! For food we had a pesto sandwich with homemade GF bread and gyro pita, both were delicious and full of flavor. They came with a side, we had a tomato bisque and a salad. The bisque was rich and filling, the salad was like a meal onto itself. We will be back!

Gabriele L.

Yelp
Food is good. Service needs much improvement. Ambiance ok but restaurant smells of all the food cooked. Walked out Smelling like it.
google avatar

Tim N.

Yelp
This is a vegan restaurant. I'm not a vegan and ended up here on a quest to check out somewhere I had not been before. All things considered, the food was decent, certainly not a substitute for meat... but certainly edible. Service was fairly slow, there was only one table when we went in and the place filled up after. Cute little eatery, very small and not overly well lit. I don't think I'd rush back, but that's because I like meat too much.

Michele E.

Yelp
Really great little place, food is delicious and plenty of it! Breakfast burrito is very filling, and grilled cheese with soup was perfect! Love it!
google avatar

Erin S.

Yelp
We are always searching for great vegan food and we found it at High Note. I had a tofu scramble with a side of potatoes, James had loaded potatoes with a side of tofu scramble. Virtually the same meal, his spuds had a few more goodies (mushrooms). We shared some herbed juices, blueberry basil and raspberry mint! Swoon! The staff seemed happy and worked well together. There was a cheerful atmosphere in the kitchen. I caught a glimpse inside the refrigerator, and WOW, that thing is a jumble. It looked like mostly bags of veggies all catawompus. There's not really a worry about cross contamination as everything is vegan, but it could be better organized for the staff. Get some bins, shelves, or baskets! The tables are quite close together. I was tempted to chime in on the conversation at the next table (crochet and work with developmentally delayed children) but I held my tongue. Perhaps the crowding will be mitigated after their upcoming remodel. They don't open until 11:00, so we had to kill time to get brunch, but we loved it. We'll be back. Next time I'm bringing crochet patterns to share!

Yelp
Good vegan food. Good service. Quiet Saturday afternoon. Pleasant outdoor seating. Good experience.

Steffanie C.

Yelp
Tried this place out as a vegetarian. The black bean quesadilla was no bueno. Had a hair in it too. Service was nice and so was my beer.
google avatar

Berk G.

Yelp
Had my first vegan food here. We went here without knowing they only serve vegan. We decided to stay and I am glad we did. They have an amazing vegan burrito, I keep coming back for it. Never thought vegan food would taste so good. It doesn't look like I will give up on meat anytime soon but if I ever do this place is the one that set it in motion.
google avatar

Caroline Rolofson ..

Yelp
Weird ambiance with disturbing art on the walls. Service was good. Sandwich was just kinda sad, there just wasn't much on the sandwich. Felt like it was mainly just bread... and bland in flavor. Spent 44 bucks and left hungry. Let me describe my sandwich in more detail. Thick slices of bread, very thin layer of pesto. One sliver of a roasted red pepper. A very thin slice of tomato. And lastly sparse mushrooms to be found. The soup was good. But I seriously stopped at a gas station to get more food on my way home.

Flora T.

Yelp
The food here is delicious. Classic items like nachos and burritos and are so filling you'll need a to go box. Their fresh baked breads make decadent sandwiches . I recommend the pesto. It's cozy and cool and the service is great.
google avatar

Brooke C.

Yelp
Disappointed. Although the flavors were great in everything, the mushrooms in my sandwich were hard as gristle and couldn't be eaten. My lunch cost me nearly $30 for just me, and a good chunk was inedible. I was stoked for some amazing vegan eats but not sure if I'll go back. Bummed.
google avatar

Morgan F.

Yelp
I mean...wow! I was lucky enough to win a free meal here and I am so blown away. Ive been wanting to try this place for forever and never got around to it but am so glad i got the opportunity. I ordered the breakfast sandwich, It was so good! The tofu scramble was so flavorful and the avocado, aoli, and cheese really tied it all together. My boyfriend was laughing because I kept doing a dance everytime I took a bite haha. This place is one of my top 10nik boise for sure!
google avatar

Yelp
High Note is EPIC! I came here while I stayed in Boise for a day on my way up to Vancouver from Phoenix on my motorcycle. It was so good I came back the next morning for brunch to fuel my journey. First of all, the food is phenomenal. Quality ingredients and made with lots of love. GREAT combination of tasty, healthy and cruelty-free. But the most important part of any restaurant - the people. The people working there were the friendliest people I met on my whole trip by far! They made me feel totally at home and like I was catching up with old friends. Then the coolest thing happened. A farmer walked in with a wicker basket full of oyster mushrooms. They buy them every week. So, when they say local, they fricken mean it!! THIS RESTAURANT WAS THE HIGH NOTE OF MY TRIP!
google avatar

Yelp
While on a long drive from Seattle to Salt Lake City, I searched the Internet for the best Vegan Restaurant in Boise, ID. The High note Cafe came up on top of the list, so I pasted it in my GPS and trucked off the freeway. 10 minutes out of my way, but worth every minutes. A few minutes past the scheduled end-of-brunch, they said "no worries, Come on in, and sit wherever you like!" Friendly greetings, and smiling faces, and a breath of fresh air. Not only am I Vegan, but very picky eater as well - Not to worry they said. They were eager to make my meal perfect for me. I ordered the "High Note Scramble" with the exact items I wanted in it, and it was absolutely perfect. Everything made fresh to order - takes a little longer than the typical fast food garbage, but you expect to wait longer for good tasty healthy food. There were several other items on the menu that looked fantastic, so I will definitely return to the High Note the next time I am anywhere near Boise. You don't have to be a Vegan to eat a healthy Vegan meal. Try it out, your body will thank you.
google avatar

Rachel R.

Yelp
Small place with a BIG impact. Food is delicious. All ingredients are as fresh as they claim and 100% vegan. We ordered four different plates for our family and enjoyed them all -- even though we aren't vegan! The staff is super sweet, knowledgeable, and friendly. They feature paintings from local artists and have a home-grown Boise vibe. We will definitely be back!
google avatar

Jamey S.

Yelp
The breakfast burrito is AMAZING!! And the breakfast potatoes are a great accompaniment. But please please please add KETCHUP and ORANGE JUICE to your menu. These small additions would make things nearly perfecto!!

Jason W.

Yelp
Delish. I didn't realize it was all vegan and was a bit concerned since I don't like non-dairy cheese but it was fantastic. They make the bread and cashew cheese in house and it was good stuff. Nice clean place, good music. Well worth a visit!

Lily A.

Yelp
This place gave my husband and I food poisoning yesterday We think it was the tomoato soup..

Susie S.

Yelp
It was so fun to see that high note was open again on a more consistent schedule. And it has been nicely remodeled. I love their food. It is hard for me to get away from the gyro sandwich and Caesar salad. I try to eat vegan, even when going out. It's so relaxing to know that I can be guaranteed of getting an amazing vegan meal and that it will be great! Thanks

Yelp
Always great food and great service. My favorite breakfast place in the city, but lunch is great too, always tough to decide! I think we've probably been here about 8-10 times in the last year and every time has been consistently great.

Yelp
Amazing food for vegans and non vegans!!! Love everyone that works here, they are so thoughtful and always make you feel at home!

Yelp
84th Review of High Note, Downtown Boise. This is my 379th Yelp Review. Happy Hour-- Monday - Friday 4-6 PM. $1 off local beer, wine by the glass and special mimosas! Select $5 appetizers: Bruschetta or Hummus served with HIgh Note Toast or Chips & Dip-- Happy Hour could use some work, IMO. Wow, what a great place! I've had it on my bookmarks now for well over a year. Not sure why I hadn't visited here before. I'm downtown a lot, but since it's tucked on a side street, I've just not noticed it. Walking in it isn't much-- just a small room, bright yet old colors on the wall, local artwork, hippy vibe, with a bar area, small amount of seating, and a relaxed albeit modern feel to it. $1 mimosas (first two) on Sundays. They have four flavors. We had the pineapple and cucumber. Everything here is fresh! They don't have microwaves, and even hand wash the dishes. We had some super good food! We shared a Caesar salad (average... it's lettuce!) and breakfast avocado taco-- AMAZING! A++ Here you can get homemade dessert, too. They oftentimes have live music, poets club, and $1 Taco Tuesdays! All-in-all, the food was good, the service was good, chill/relaxed environment, and a good weekend brunch menu (select items on Sunday only). I recommed you try it! BTW-- it is located next to Guidos New York Style Pizza behind Flying M Coffee in Downtown Boise.

Erica C.

Yelp
This restaurant is amazing! It's a "must see, must try, must visit" for anyone! The organic and handmade food is delicious and always satisfying. You'll leave with a full belly no doubt, and I promise you'll be back! Omg I can't wait to go back!

Yelp
This is one of my all-time favorite restaurants, vegan or otherwise. It's always a highlight of every trip I make to Boise, and is an absolute must-stop. I've been to vegan restaurants all over, and I don't know that I've ever had a better breakfast than I've had at the High Note. In addition to the amazing food, the staff is also great and the location is super convenient. Cannot recommend enough!
