I was excited to drive to Colonial Beach and get some fresh seafood from the Richmond area. When I arrived around noon, the place had been open for about an hour, and there was no one there despite having a huge fest that was ongoing next door. I had a couple of drinks, but still no one decided to order the Rock Fish, Fries, and ColeSlaw. It's not bad, but indeed not something I would even drive locally for. The tarter sauce was simply mayo. I sat at the bar and the bartender was accommodating and nice, but I was super surprised even after I had eaten, only perhaps 1-2 couples came in; the place was empty with like four servers with little to nothing to do. Empty restaurants are showing signs of reputation, trust, and quality.

Made the most of it, and it was ultimately worth it for the convenience and price, but I wouldn’t go back there…I’d drive somewhere else. The drinks were so so so bad. The food was mid. I got crab legs and they weren’t the best quality - think inland casino crab legs. The fries were their redeeming quality- so good I couldn’t give the place 2 stars. The service was also so disorganized and slow - even with very few people seated and lots of folks working. Which is all a bummer because this place has SO much potential… it’s beautiful, on the water, and a cute outdoor area with live (albeit very bad) music. Again, so much potential, and why I’m giving 3 stars instead of 2, but I wouldn’t go back unless they get better service, good, and drinks, but you could totally go enjoy a couple beers and look at the water and have a good time.

High fives to the fellas and fellers that run this place. The atmosphere was exciting and fun to look at or explore, the music was spot on for the environment, and the staff were all very polite and welcoming. Our server, Jordan, was very lovely and attentive for our meal. He was very honest with us, and even gave a suggestion for the dessert that my husband and I both enjoyed very much. Please give that man a raise! The food itself was delicious, we both had the plate of fried fish/shellfish with two sides and we both left full and happy, especially for the price. I highly recommend this restaurant if you're looking for good food and good people, especially if you're celebrating! We came here for our honeymoon and we are not dissapointed!

Food was amazing! The views were gorgeous! Everything about this dinning experience was great! I took my mom here for her birthday and we genuinely had a great time! Something that I didn’t see before coming here was that they use heart healthy oils which is awesome! The food didn’t make me feel bloated or bad afterwords which was quite refreshing for dinning out somewhere! We walked down to the beach while we waited for our food which was really cool! We also went during sunset and sat on the deck which made for a really great atmosphere!

My family came here a few years ago and enjoyed it. I'm sad to write that our experience this year was very different. The atmosphere is still great, right on the boardwalk, great pirate items around the restaurant. The service and food however, was not that good and downright bad in some cases. Starting out, our server was nice, but when asked, she couldn't recommend anything on the menu. She only had 2 tables and wasn't very responsive. Now, the food. Seafood platter, broiled....so overcooked. Not just my dish, everyone's seafood was tough and/or rubbery. The crab cake had celery in it and my wife kept thinking she was chewing shell because of the crunch. Sweet potato wedges are deep fried (unexpected) and also overcooked. The green beans were canned...and, you guessed it- overcooked. Some were burnt. The pizza was also burnt all over the crust and underside. I asked the server about the pizza as my kids only got down one slice each and she said that's how they make it there. SMH. The chicken tenders were the highlight of our entire meal. Worth noting - so, so, so many flies. We started outside and moved inside because the flies were out of control. This was the most expensive meal of our visit and the least enjoyed. EDITED following comment from management: I actually was going to ask to speak to management, but two gentlemen had come in to make a complaint to the manager about their to go order, directly near our table. After hearing how their similar concerns were treated we decided it was best to pay and leave. The manager was very dismissive of the customers' complaints and didn't offer any apologies. We appreciate the invite, but will not be returning.

This place is amazing we ate here several times during our visit and loved it. I read some reviews on here saying they waited for 15 minutes to get service this place was packed every time we went so we kind of expected that. Also someone said they sat outside and there were flies 😂 have you never eaten outside before? I mean what did you expect it's a restaurant right next to a river lol. Anyway the food here was awesome in my opinion. My son begged us every day to come back and try something different here. I would definitely recommend the crab imperial this is a dish you don't really see that often and they make it perfectly. We will be coming back here.

Google
It was a bit chilly to sit outdoors so would like to come back when it's warmer. The area that has the stage in one corner is so 'island vib-y' 😄 Had the bread bowl with crab soup.... cleaned the plate! Only because I've never had a bread bowl soup where you can actually finish the bowl! The bread was so soft 👍🏻 The appetizer sampler was absolutely great for 4 pax.

Yelp
When on the coast of the Potomac, you gotta try the crabs! We were looking for some to take home and the place failed us miserably so we stopped by here and the certainly delivered. We had the steamed crabs and the cream of crab soup. Both were delicious. The crabs juicy and delicious. The crab soup full of crab and savory. Highly recommend!

Nick S.

Yelp
Not sure why the ratings are low or maybe I came on a good day. The food was good, I did end up doing the ayce crab legs and our waiter was quick to put the orders in to ensure I didn't wake long between orders. The ambiance was nice since it was right on the water.

Andrew F.

Yelp
Food was good and service was also great. I stopped in from a motorcycle ride and sat right down. For food I got the seafood combo platter and broiled fish and scallops and crab cake. potato cakes. Also with crab cakes I like light batter and this one was very light on fillers and favorable. Solid dish and plenty filling

Ashley G.

Yelp
The food my friend and I had both looked and tasted good, but the service was painfully slow. I can't tell if they're understaffed, or if their staff don't know how to handle the volume they're bound to get at a location like this. But between the two of us we were there almost 2 hours, as every step of the process was slow. Getting seated was slow, getting drinks was slow, getting food was slow, getting the checks was slow, having the checks returned was slow...

Maria T.

Yelp
Shiver my Timbers!! Arrrgh ! That pirate welcomes you as you enter the gang plank of this heavy wooden eatery. Been coming here 4 Eva!!! This spot on the beach is a chill hang, nice view of the beach, always a crowd at the bar... pretty good service... average food and prices... live music some nights... cool tiki bar outside... inside it was hot... a/c was struggling! For a low key beach meal, pop in and and grab a burger, seafood, or steak! I chose the Tropical Island Salad with mandarin oranges and pineapple for a refreshing lunch!! P.S. the restrooms are gross... 2 1/2

Anita A.

Yelp
I would give no stars if I could. We were given a table outside. Multiple servers walked by us and none said anything to us. Took no drink orders. We were ready to order drinks and food! We waited about 15 minutes and left!!

Erin B.

Yelp
Nice dining room and cool tiki bar area with sand floor. Unless you are drinking, the food is overpriced and mediocre. Good French fries but the popcorn shrimp was a cheap frozen version we couldn't eat. The fish sandwich had fresh tomatoes and lettuce, but the mediocre fish was a +$2 to get it blackened (not fried).

Matt S.

Yelp
Absolutely horrendous service. Called to ask if they were serving pizza today and the clueless girl who answered the phone told me at 4:00. We got there at 5:00 and they were indeed not serving pizza. The girl at the front could Barely get out a sentence so we went to talk to the bartender. About three minutes later, after he put down his phone, he finally came over. It's a shame Because there isn't a better location in town. Someone new needs to buy this place, completely restaff, and overhaul the menus. So much potential but nobody there cares even a little.

Vivian R.

Yelp
Nice spot on the beach with live music usually on most weekends. The server we had was super nice, we liked what we ordered but I did hear person next to us complain about their food being stale. I personally had no issues and the views were nice.

Robert S.

Yelp
I have given this restaurant many chances over the past couple of years with only one the experiences being ok...The service is extremely slow even on a day when it was just me and 2 other customers sat at tables. I have been sat a table before and literally forgotten about for over an hour then once they took my order the waitress forgot to give it to the chief so I just left. The food itself if you ever get it with the exception of my recent experience with their new pizza is fairly good but expensive. Overall I would recommend going somewhere else.

Aaron S.

Yelp
Absolutely horrible food. First, we waited 5 minutes to be sat, and they weren't busy at all. Ordered the calamari, which didn't come out til after our entrée's, and it didn't come out with the lemon vinaigrette nor the marinara, it came out with cocktail sauce. My wife ordered the steam spiced shrimp, which had hardly any seasoning on it and was extremely overcooked. I ordered the mushroom swiss burger, (medium) which was not "smothered with mushrooms", it had 3 slices of mushrooms on it. It came out well done, drier than a saltine cracker. The bun wasn't even toasted, and the fries we got were cold and soggy. THE BUN WASN'T EVEN TOASTED. I was going to order the Crab Norfolk, but I'm glad I didn't, considering how shitty the rest of the meal was. We've eaten there before and it was outstanding, and I'm usually about giving a place another try if the food is sub-par, but I would rather eat McDonald's than go back there. At least my sweet tea and her diet coke were refreshing, and the waitress was very nice.

Robin S.

Yelp
Food was cold and the service was terrible would not recommend went there the Monday after Memorial Day weekend. Apparently the owner and the staff had had a big pool party the night before .... The servers absolutely did not care about any of the five parties on the deck one party walked out the rest of us had to have our checks adjusted which they didn't even take off everything they should have will never go back

Lisa B.

Yelp
came in after rush hour . Hubs and I rode to Colonial beach on our motorcycle and was looking for a for a quick lunch . High tide was our choice . we were greeted and seated upon arrival. Hubs got Long Island and I got water . Started off with bacon wrapped scallop. Size was decent . Medium sized cooked to perfection. comes 5 per order , wish it could be 6 so it can be split evenly for two. He got fish taco-amazing ! fish were grilled and topped with mango salsa. I got fried oysters . Sides were steak fries and sweet potato . decently sized and lightly breaded oysters . overall a great experience and phenomenal view looking out to the Potomac . not sure the 2 stars rating but we have no complains .

Windy G.

Yelp
The location is excellent. The food is way over priced. All you can eat crab legs and shrimp was 80.00 even though the shrimp were huge, they had no seasoning. The King size rib eye steak which was 28.99 and no more than 8 oz in size after it was cooked. I will say a family of 5, 3 got all you can eat, 1 got the king size steak, and I got a house salad and our bill was 375.00 before tip. Grant it that also included one beer and one glass of wine. Not worth the price.

Pat G.

Yelp
The restaurant was very nice. The waitresses were quick polite and made sure we had everything we wanted. The problem was the food was horrible. I ordered stuffed shrimp. It was frozen just heated up. No taste spinach and sweet potato were amazing. My daughter ordered maple chicken again it was a frozen piece of chicken. You can still taste the water in it no flavor Potato cake and coleslaw. She said the only thing that will get was good was the coleslaw. The appetizer that we ordered was the crab dip again no flavor. My daughter ordered the bacon scallops and they were just frozen appetizers that were heated up. I will never eat there again, worst food ever and it cost me $68 for the shrimp, sweet potato, spinach, crab dip

Katherine F.

Yelp
Very disappointing. Slow Monday, slower service. Waitress blamed the fact we had been sitting for over 30 minutes after ordering appetizer and 3 orders of tacos on "system issues" luckily, everyone arriving after us seemed to be getting their orders just fine. Waitresses was very polite and friendly. Unfortunately, that doesn't make up for delayed food delivered cold. Tortillas were dried out and cracking, one was actually burned. Appetizer of loaded fries had sit so long the cheese was hard. Too much time taken from beach relaxation. Wouldn't recommend arriving very hungry. The wait will leave you Hangry.

Denise H.

Yelp
Brick oven pizza is awesome! Love the live music at the tiki area on the weekends during the summer!

Lisa G.

Yelp
Ordered to go blackened salmon. It was so delicious. Skylar took my order and Ronda brought my food out. Both with a smile on their face. I will definitely be back.

Jen E.

Yelp
I wouldn't send my worst enemy to this place if he were dying of hunger. We were a party of 3 couples with 6 children--a large group to be sure. Half of us have worked in the restaurant business, so we know how to be patient. After she took the order for half the table, she never came back to take the orders from our side of the table. I was confused, and went inside to ask if they were going to take our orders as well. That was my first mistake. Service aside, I think the crab cake was cat food thrown on the fryer. Even the Shirley Temple was bad--the syrup must have been out on the soda machine and the waitress acted like I was being a difficult customer because I asked her to bring my son a lemonade instead. The evening ended with the owner calling me names and causing a massive scene--completely unnecessary--while we were waiting for our cards to be run. The flies were horrible--didn't help that the waitress didn't remove the plates/trash from our apps when we were finished. With the beautiful ambience and a decent manager who doesn't partake in calling his customers "Karen" when they provide feedback on their experience, this place could be okay. Trust all the 1-star reviews you read here. I wish I had.

Maitrayee D.

Yelp
We were here on Thursday . Five girl friends . I ordered the fried flounder , my friend ordered the fried Rockfish , Also another ordered steamed fish and crab . All our food was super tasty . Fresh seafood . For appetizers we had dish and chips . Good tasting fish . We always visit this place when ever we are in Colonial beach .

Jonathan S.

Yelp
Come for the atmopshere, it is a great location and decent food!atmosphere Has a great beachfront atmosphere, with pirate theming inside and lots of palm trees. We sat on the patio, which had beautiful views. The only downside was that as soon as our food arrived lots of flies showed up with it. The food was overall good, but nothing truly noteworthy. Expect a what you see is what you get menu, everything well made but you won't be wowed. The cocktails were well made with lots of different beach-themed options. A live band started playing at 7pm on the Friday we were there, but the restaurant patio wasn't overwhelmed with the sound.

Kristie T.

Yelp
Took a gamble since reviews here were pretty old! Tuesday evening and this was one of the only restaurants open... turned out fine! Sat inside and no wait. Nice looking menu options. I got the soo and salad ($16) and got cream of crab and the half tropical salad. The cream of crab was super thick.. I prefer mine much thinner.. however the flavor was good and pieces of crab were tasty! The half salad was huge!!! The chicken was delicious.. really enjoyed it!! Fiancé had one of the fish sandwiches ($11) came with steak fries. Said it was good nothing exciting. Overall we were very happy with the meal!

Robert F.

Yelp
Wow how do you give negative stars?! What a horrible experience. After getting seated we waited for 20 minutes before asking for our server. Miss came over and took and we ordered appetizers, drinks, and entrees. Someone came out 15 minutes later (fair enough) and brought us crab legs which 3 of us ordered as an entree but gave it to the only person that didn't order that. Explained to the waitress who didn't know what they were doing that this probably isn't ours and questioned about where our drinks and appetizers where. After about 10 minutes waiting for them to pick up the crab legs not getting the other food we ordered we figured we might as well eat them as this was a mistake and they wouldn't be able to serve them to anyone else anyway. Good thing as the main clusters where over cooked and had as much meat was my thumbnail in them. We cancelled the order and ordered a different entree waited another 15 minutes with still no appetizers arriving. So we decided after over an hour of waiting best to go somewhere else and cancel the order. Poor service and the best they would even offer after talking to another 3 people is they would give us half off the shit crab legs they brought us by mistake and out of sequence for the dinners. Still had to wait to pay and go to the bar and pay to get out of that place. After an hour and a half waiting and having to pay for terrible service still had to give them money. I wouldn't recommend that place to a homeless shelter. Staff was rude as we were leaving and didn't apologize at all.

Justin S.

Yelp
The wood fire pizza from the brick oven was so good! Worth every dollar! Best pizza in town!

Kenneth H.

Yelp
Great food and excellent service. I'd eat there again. They have the best frog legs I've had in a very long time.

RunAway B.

Yelp
Colonial Beach, Virginia --- "High Tides" super server "Melissa" is an impressive server with an endless supply of smiles ... the view of the Potomac River makes outdoor seating a "WOW-riffic" an ideal spot to enjoy a pARTy Beverage ... a bit on the expensive on food & pARTy Beverages, but location, location, location is hard to beat ... "Run-A-Way Bill" was here! 10.23.20

Dawn C.

Yelp
We celebrated two birthdays here on Friday evening. Our waitress, Sophia, was awesome! We all three had the all you can eat crab legs and shrimp. Best crab legs we have had in a while! Just writing this review makes me want to go for lunch today! Service was great! Food was delish! The music from the next door Tiki Bar was great and not too loud to bother our birthday celebrations. We cannot wait to return!

Philip E.

Yelp
I had refrained from posting my review, giving the restaurant every opportunity to reach out to me, and given we ate there shortly after restaurants began to open for dining in....but, there is no excuse for having unknowledgeable servers, especially when it comes to Food Allergies! So, here I go! Back in August we were entertaining friends from Texas. After a day of playing on the beach and sightseeing, we decided to try High Tides on the Potomac for Dinner. Our party was large, 8 people be exact. We started off with drinks and a few appetizers. My wife and 2 children have Gluten Allergies and figured a Seafood Restaurant should be safe. We also assumed the staff would be knowledgeable. Well, that was not the case. When my family ordered their meals, we consistently reminded our server that the meals must be Gluten Free! She even had commented that she will check on a few of the items, as she was not sure. Mind you, a gluten allergic reaction comes from within, and you can't see it happening. No Benadryl or Epi pen is going to combat or reverse this type of Allergy. As we began to eat our meals, the Shrimp tasted very "fishy" as to say it was not fresh and honestly was not consumable. As we neared the end of our meals, the Bar Tender noticed we were a bit frustrated. She came over and asked what the issues were. We explained and she then told us the Stuffed Shrimp was NOT Gluten Free..after our waitress has assured us it was. My wife had already consumed it, and she has a severe Gluten Allergy. In addition, the service was horrible. We had to ask several times for drink refills, appetizers came out with the main meals, and our waitress (which we were her only table) was less than attentive at any time. The Bartender continued to tell us that the waitress was the Granddaughter of the owner, and she really doesn't want to be here, but "grandma makes her work here". As if that was making the situation better? The Bartender even adjusted the bill for the items my wife ate. We paid the bill and left. Later that night, 3 people from our party were very sick with what I thought might be food poisoning. My wife was violently ill (for anyone who has ever experienced and exposure to Gluten for someone who is allergic) and this continues for several hours. I attempted to contact the restaurant (Phone and email), including disputing the charges. To date, no one has bothered to reach out..even after they disputed my dispute, still no phone call. Please heed the reviews for this place..and add disregard for the well being of their patrons as one of their attributes. I am hoping after reading the review, I might actually get someone to call me back.

Dennis K.

Yelp
Very disappointing. The fried oysters were dark brown and grossly overcooked and the "steamed" broccoli was pretty much raw and cold. We had a very good server, but that's about the only good thing I can say.

Mark Y.

Yelp
Good seafood. Terrible service. I was here this afternoon with my brother and his wife for lunch. The server absent. Our first round of appetizers came out ice cold. I sent them back and asked for another server. The food came out hot and delicious. It's a hit or miss kind of place, more of a bar than a restaurant

Sue S.

Yelp
Terrible experience. Had an issue we wanted addressed or at least an apology but was told to F off instead. The worst staff I have ever experienced. Very rude and unprofessional. Please go elsewhere.

Leonard P.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious crab cake good not the best ,Grouper marvelous, taste and spice superb. Sweet potato delicious, everything was great. Service ok young man . But plenty of help .Great water view

Ava L.

Yelp
Food was unbelievably unseasoned, not even the hoard of flies wanted to eat what was on our plates. We ordered fried fresh flounder, burger, and another fish dish. Everything was unsalted. Not even a sprinkle of old bay . Our server was nice but took a while to get us drinks. They charge 12% tax, service charge, and a charge if you use a credit card. The view from the restaurant was nice but other than the view this place sucks.

Viktoria J.

Yelp
Oh boy, so much wasted potential. -awful food. $29 for a stuffed flounder that tasted like a bland pile of soggy nothing. -menu looked like something from 80s. Too many choices, tacky presentation, "market price" on half a menu (including beef) -3% extra when paying with card. What kind of nonsense is that? -filthy bathrooms, filthy deck, filthy tables...I can go on and on -smoking allowed anywhere on the deck. I do not enjoy smelling cigarette smoke while I eat. This place could have been incredible if only the management cared about this business.

Frankie B.

Yelp
Horrible awful disgusting place and that's describing the manager and employees. Food was bad service was bad. Employees are rude and disrespectful. Stay away, far away.

James Z.

Yelp
This place is lousy. The food is horrible and the servers are rude. Don't eat here it is simply awful.

Bret H.

Yelp
I love oysters. I love raw oysters and fried oysters. I love East Coast oysters and West Coast oysters. I love oyster stews and oyster casseroles. If there is an oyster in your recipe, I am here for you, and also your oysters. When I order a fried oyster sandwich, it is usually because it's summertime. Fresh, raw oysters probably aren't a good idea, so, I make do. It's going to be thick bread, a lot of lettuce, and a remoulade. Usually the remoulade makes or breaks it, and the oysters are weak. Still, better than not-oysters. Not only is the fried oyster sandwich here the best I've ever had, it's so much better than the next-best one that I am freaking out about my life choices. The oysters are huge and plump. The meat is just barely cooked-through, and I can still taste the sea. *There is no remoulade or lettuce at all*. They gave me *so many oysters* that I filled the bun to bursting, and still have oysters left over. The fries are also crunchy, and perfectly thick. I'm also sipping the vegetable-crab soup right now, and it's great. I have no idea why this place is averaging two stars. As far as I'm concerned, this is place is a giant. It should be famous for a hundred miles in every direction. Wholeheartedly recommend!

Matt M.

Yelp
Please don't eat/drink here. I ordered a margarita that was nothing but bland. It tasted like ice and cheap tequila. I kindly asked to have either more flavor added or exchange for another drink. The waitress, who I realized was making the drinks, came to my table to essentially confront me about the drink and the entire interaction was rude and abrasive. She took the drink to 'fix it' and the same exact drink was brought out with nothing done to it. The entire ordeal was disappointing because the place is beautiful and has so much potential, but being that cheap over a single drink tells a lot about management. Again, please spend your money in this beautiful town elsewhere!

Fanta B.

Yelp
Was there Memorial Weekend. Went for the ambience which was nice sitting outside but that's where it ends. The food and service is bad all around. Young kids who don't care to do their jobs and management who doesn't care either. Courtesy and training is clearly lacking. Also there is no parking.

Chris C.

Yelp
Been here a few times. They have good food......If you can ever get seated. Many staffing issues are present. Previously i was here when there was only 3 servers for the entire place. Severs were in tears due to the unmanageable workload. Today, it was the kitchen that was the problem. We called at 6:15 to check the wait from the beach nearby. We were told there was no wait. So ten minutes later, we were walking into the restaurant. Upon arrival we were told there was a 30 minute wait. Reluctantly we got our names on the list and waited. After 30 minutes, we were then told it would be an hour to an hour and a half starting at that moment. We couldn't was at seven and decided not to wait until 9pm for the option to eat there.

Jakki Y.

Yelp
Loved this place! Stopped here for lunch and felt like I was in paradise! Margaritas were amazing, french fries are to die for!!

Heidi F.

Yelp
We went here during the week so it wasn't as busy. The staff were very attentive and helpful when choosing items from the menu. After dinner we walked along the river. Very great experience

Gertrude M.

Yelp
Came here last week because the restaurant caught my eye whilst on a brisk walk on the boardwalk. I was greeted with a lovely smile, thank you. However, my smile dissipated when the food came out. Ice cold to the touch and unseasoned. Was very disappointed because I wanted a nice seafood meal, that was hot and seasoned and I did not get that. The water tasted murky too. Was not pleasant experience in the food, but lovely staff.

Adria C.

Yelp
So great location right on the water with a lovely view. Food is ok not terrible in anyway but not standout either. Service is supremely lackluster. Waitstaff is too busy sitting at the end of the bar eating and being unpleasant to be bothered. You will get no pleasantries of any kind just a what do you want and a walk off to go back to feeding and gossiping. When it came time for the check it was run and then plopped on the table without a single word being spoken. Also beware of parking someone will park right behind blocking you in. Then be all out of sorts if they have to move the car they illegally parked.

Cat S.

Yelp
Literally the worst place I've ever eaten. I wish I read the reviews before. We were automatically charged a credit card fee even though we paid cash. The pina coloada was watery to say the least and we aren't even sure they put rum in them. The food was barely edible. The bathrooms are gross. It's like a trailer park in there. The location and views are nice but they are also free on the beach. I had the Tropical salad which is grilled chicken, canned pineapple, canned oranges and almond slivers. It was disappointing. My kid got the Mac and cheese which is boxed and honestly now that I think about it, everything seemed to be store bought (maybe at Costco?) heated and served. The mozzarella sticks, the jalapeño poppers, the chicken wings. Nothing seemed to be made in house but rather assembled in house

Yelp
Yummy food, right on Colonial Beach. Terrific service from Amber. Delicious coconut shrimp, broiled rockfish sandwich, fried crab cake sandwich with crisp crisp fries. The sweet potato wedges were breaded and good when breading was pulled off. Cold beer. Well mixed margaritas. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Whenever I see low ratings from people who rarely ever review on Yelp, I am suspicious. So non-buyer beware, because the husband and I really like High Tides. It's location right on the beach is just the most obvious benefit. A deck with umbrella tables, a sandy tiki bar area and an indoor pirate cove. Very cute! Our first time we ate on the deck, which is right next to the beachfront promenade. Great for people watching. Our server was sweet and efficient. We didn't have to wait long and everything came out fine. I had a big salad, husband had something seafood-y and we were content. Prices are not cheap, but it is a full service, beachfront restaurant, what do you expect? The tiki bar area next to the restaurant has high tables, a bar and a stage for live music. First time there was no entertainment, second time there was a great bluesy rock band. I was even going to buy a CD but they were charging too much for it. Also liked that the music wasn't so loud that you were unable to hear the person sitting next to you. Bartenders were working their bottoms off because the place was packed. But people were friendly, let us in to get our drinks, and one guy even gave up his seat so I could sit down. You all know I love the fruity cocktails and there is a full menu of them to choose from. Reasonably priced, certainly less than I pay for them in DC. On another occasion we happened to meet the owner and his wife. He's not a warm and fuzzy guy, but he certainly wasn't rude as some people have accused. He was busy and focused. But still took a good 10 minutes to talk to us about his establishment and the Town of Colonial Beach. If you're looking for a fun, beach bar experience you'll find it here.

Yelp
Food was okay, but my concern is regarding sanitation and health issues. Only one person on staff is wearing a mask and it is under her nose. They have tables back to back. They have them marked odd off with "X"s on the patio but then combine for big parties. We literally had to squeeze through an area of less than a foot between two tables to leave. We were the second group there for lunch. If we had came when it was so crowded definitely would of left. Health department definitely needs to check them out.
