The Best New Restaurant Openings in NYC, August 2023 | Eater NY

"I visited a cocktail bar and restaurant inside Tempo by Hilton Times Square that opened in early August, placing it steps from the New Year's Eve ball-drop location. It is at 1568 Broadway, near Seventh Avenue." - Emma Orlow

Highball was a wonderful place to visit, day and night. We stayed at the hotel, so we actually frequented this spot more than once. Our first night we ate dinner here. It was absolutely delicious. I had the steak and it was wonderful! We shared a cheesecake for dessert. We came here for breakfast, which was really good. I will say, if you are in a crunch for time and it's busy, consider going somewhere else. They get really swamped in the morning. Keep your receipt. If there's any mistakes they are gracious and kind and will fix it. Great service! Our last night in NYC, we came back for a nightcap and dessert one last time. We had our server, Sagar, again. He was so kind and attentive. This was the perfect way to end our trip. Definitely consider stopping here for a meal, or at least drinks. Thank you Highball staff and chefs, for starting and ending our trip the right way!

On the 11th floor, a very spacious restaurant that has a sign to seat yourself, so we had the luxury of choosing our own table from what's available. We got lucky that our server was a very polite and hospitable man named Greg. We ordered the tots, spinach & artichoke dip, caesar salads with grilled salmon, and the cheese board. I didn't take pictures, because I indulged immediately. I loved the creaminess of the spinach & artichoke dip. The salmon was fresh & cooked perfectly, and the cheese board had generous amounts of four cheeses - all delicious. The bill included the gratuity, which was helpful, so that we didn't have to calculate. My husband and I left feeling really good. I took pictures from the lobby of the 11th floor.

This is such a nice bar in the heart of Manhattan! I love the layout, and the staff are so accommodating and friendly. We had a few apps and drinks. I really enjoyed my drink, and the green hummus was delicious. The tater tots are great, especially the cheese sauce!!! I do prefer them crispier, so I’d order them well done next time.

I stayed at the Tempo for one evening and Highball did not disappoint. After a long tiring day of work and travel, it was so nice to relax in the hotel and clean up before dinner. I didn't have to leave the hotel to experience one of the best meals I have ever eaten. The striped bass with spaghetti squash and asparagus was divine. The service was kind and attentive at the bar. The atmosphere was chill and inviting. I highly recommend enjoying a meal or even an appetizer with cocktails at Highball. It will be a great experience.

Went down at Happy Hour to have some drinks before dinner in the city. We stopped at the bar, we were not greeted by any of the 3-5 staff members actively behind the bar. Once we finally addressed them, one stood there on her phone at the register just scrolling through something, I actually have her on video. Then we finally got the attention of the other staff member and finally got drinks. Happy hour consists of $9 draft beers which after tax and auto charged tip is over $11 each. These people got $4 tip they never deserved. When I returned to the bar for round two, two men came and sat at the bar and immediately got served with menus as I stood there over 2 minutes, once again ignored and finally had to get a little stern to get any of the bartenders’ attention. She got an attitude with me when I asked for another round. Once again, they got a $4 tip, well undeserved. She was rude and then mixed our beers up and couldn’t remember which was which. Highly not recommended. Expect rudeness. Thank goodness the beer is actually good. 0 stars for service from Jennifer.

Utterly horrendous!!!!! Avoid like the plague, $60 a day included within our hotel package (Virgin), basically $64 for simply the worst breakfast burrito I’ve ever had, 2 8oz coffees, Orange and a poke bowl. Quality was shameful, small portions, uncooked hash brown, burnt bacon and no taste. You have all been warned.

The hotel provides a daily $10 credit for use at the restaurant, excluding market purchases. I use this credit every day to buy a coffee at the front desk, but the service is consistently appalling. If the restaurant or hotel doesn't want to accommodate guests using this credit, they shouldn't offer it in the first place! Having to deal with such rude staff first thing in the morning is ruining my vacation. Furthermore, let me remind you that making a cold brew is incredibly simple. All you need to do is put some ice in the cup and then pour in the pre-made coffee. It's that easy! Stop filling the entire cup with ice and then giving me a ridiculously small amount of coffee. Get it right!

This restaurant was amazing! The food was great and the guest service was lovely 🩷 if you are staying at the Tempo Hilton, eat at their restaurant!
