"Highfalutin Coffee Roasters really cares about its beans. Roasted in-house, the coffee at this Avondale shop is routinely touted as some of the best by local aficionados — don’t ask for a pumpkin spice latte here." - Erin Perkins

Very cute place in Avondale! Plants everywhere and is decorated nicely. The girl at the counter was very nice and remade a coffee for my friend when she wanted it hot instead of iced. They make a tasty lavender honey latte if you are into lavender! My husband coffee thought I felt tasted a bit bland or perhaps watery. We just prefer our coffee to be stronger and more flavorful. I would come back to try their other specialty coffees and snacks. Very laid back vibe with indoor and outdoor seating. It’s also in a great location with lots of places in walking distance. Parking was a bit challenging and you can’t necessarily turn left into it so you have to make a loop around to find some street parking.

If you are a true coffee lover, then Highfalutin Coffee Roasters is a destination you absolutely must experience. From the moment you step inside, it’s clear that this is no ordinary coffee shop — it’s a place where craftsmanship, hospitality, and passion for coffee converge into something truly special. The customer service here is nothing short of outstanding. The team at Highfalutin goes above and beyond to create a welcoming, personalized experience for every guest. You are not just another customer here — you are genuinely valued. Their kindness, attentiveness, and warm professionalism elevate the entire experience, making every visit feel like a treat rather than a transaction. It’s rare today to find service that feels this heartfelt and sincere. And then there’s the coffee itself — truly exceptional. Every cup is a testament to their dedication to quality, from the careful sourcing of beans to the precision in brewing. Each sip delivers a richness, depth, and balance of flavor that you simply can’t find just anywhere. Whether you are ordering a classic espresso, a pour-over, or one of their signature creations, you can taste the care and expertise that goes into every drink. The atmosphere of Highfalutin is equally wonderful — stylish yet cozy, sophisticated yet unpretentious. It’s the perfect place to meet with colleagues, catch up with friends, or simply sit quietly with a beautifully made cup of coffee and enjoy a moment of calm. As someone who travels frequently and has visited many renowned coffee spots around the world, I can confidently say that Highfalutin Coffee Roasters is a standout. I will be recommending this gem to my business partners, colleagues, friends, and family without hesitation. It’s not just about the coffee here — it’s about the entire experience: the care, the quality, the warmth. Highfalutin Coffee Roasters has set a new standard for what a coffee experience should be, and I am already looking forward to my next visit.

Stop by for iced latte and hazelnut banana bread and they were so good! I came to this coffee shop a while back and their coffee still taste delicious! This coffee shop sit in the triangle area of Avondale, West Ashley so parking can be a bit challenging. The inside was pretty nice and I saw some people with their laptops working while enjoying their coffees. Highfalutin also has outdoor seating and lots of outdoor seating. They also serve breakfast sandwich and breakfast taco and other savory breakfast if ya'll crave something more savory with your coffee. I think I like this place and you should check it out if you are in the area!

Google
Loved this place! Has a nice garden type patio out front. We saw several cute dogs here. The hubs had a cortado which he said was excellent. I had an oat milk chai - a good chai spice mix but not quite sweet enough for me even though I ordered it sweet. We also shared a piece of Nutella Hazelnut Banana Bread. It was absolutely huge! We both liked it, not sure we would get it again, it was a little dry. The service was very good and the barista did a great job.

Google
Highfalutin is the perfect weekday cafe to read a book or work remote. Each table is equipped with outlets and plentiful seating. If you don't need power, opt for a patio seat. The area is very romantic when the plants are in bloom. Service is great and they check in and bus dishes as needed. Food and beverages are delicious. I enjoyed the blueberry muffin and iced mocha. Years ago they had mocha puffs (mocha Cocoa Puffs). Silly and delicious. Highly recommend the quiche as well

Google
Amazing coffee and great experience. During the recent snow fall here in Charleston I thought I'd take in a walk to enjoy the scenery and hopefully get a coffee. When I arrived I wasn't sure if the place was open. The owner came to the door and explained that due to the weather they weren't open but he kindly invited me in for a coffee on the house. As I sat there and enjoyed a great coffee more people arrived to see if they were open and the same kindness was shown. I will definitely return as the coffee was amazing and the service and kindness shown was truly awesome.

Google
I ordered a flat white… it was fabulous!! My husband is a simple coffee drinker and ordered a medium roast black coffee. He commented to me that it didn’t taste good at all. I went to sip it and could hardly believe how awful and overpoweringly strong the smell was. I can’t even identify it. Licorice? Cough syrup? Not sure…. But it was horrible! You can’t serve something that far outside of the normal “black coffee” flavor and pass it off as acceptable to an unsuspecting sipper! I seriously would have complained but we were traveling and had hit the road before I realized just how utterly unacceptably it was! (but the banana bread was delicious)

Google
This place was ok. The name sets expectations higher than they are able to meet. Also feel roasters should serve with sparkling water but this may be the best spot I found in Charleston area.

Yelp
Every time I go to Gerald's Tires, I look forward to having some me-time at this coffee shop. The vibe today was great. The staff was friendly and efficient. The place was clean. It was busy, but there was open space to sit with my laptop and enjoy my coffee and caprese sandwich without rushing. Thanks for a wonderful morning!

Yelp
I loved this cute coffee shop in Avondale. Inside was adorable but my dog was with us so we sat in their outdoor area. It is beautiful and covered in plants. The breakfast tacos were amazing. The coffee was good too. I would recommend this location to a friend and plan to go again.

Yelp
Highfalutin Coffee Roasters is kind of hidden away in the Avondale area of West Ashley, located across the street from Triangle Char Bar and sharing a space or adjoined with Bearcat restaurant. It's a cool hip space with a covered quiet patio outside to sit & relax with a fabulous cup of roasted coffee. The options are endless for coffee, iced, hot, flavored or not. They can do it. I really enjoyed my Cortado. The staff are great, skilled and helpful. When I'm back in the Avondale area I will definitely be popping in here for an outstanding cup of coffee.

Yelp
I've been coming to this cafe for a few years. I usually go once and come back after a few months since it's not close by. It seems the ownership changed a lot over the past three years. All bring different menus and services. I came in today and ordered a cappuccino. It was good. They have milk alternatives and flavors. This place is fantastic for studying or reading a good book. It has lots of seating indoors and outdoors. Parking can be scarce, so plan accordingly. The staff wasn't rude but also wasn't as welcoming.

Yelp
I had to say this place rocked my socks if you're in Charleston South Carolina looking for a great cup of coffee well this is a spot there coffee is very smooth and very delicious. Hits the spot. There's many notes to taste wonderful very knowledgeable about their coffee. they roaster coffee in house. The ambience is very inviting very cool gives a little southern twist. I recommend this to anybody who wants service.

Yelp
Such a cute cafe! I had the cortado with oat milk and a delicious plant based chocolate chip cookie. Awesome customer service and the patio outside is so cute to sit at and enjoy your coffee!

Yelp
Cute coffee shop in a great location to walk to other places as well. Loved the adorable China they serve the quiche on. We sat outside and it was perfect weather and shaded to enjoy chatting with friends.
google avatar

Yelp
Great location to grab a cuppa coffee, pretty good amount of seats and finally a coffee shop that's not always freezing. Can't remember if they even have food but the coffee is always good.

Yelp
Another successful trip, their americano we tried this time is one of the best we've had. We look forward to trying more things on our next trip, we find this is going to be a regular stop when visiting family in Charleston.

Yelp
First time here - was pretty crowded and nowhere to park but vanilla latte was good! Be prepared - they just call out the drink and me and 3 other ppl got the same thing and were confused. And my drink was wrong first time but was only one lady working so giving them benefit of the doubt
google avatar

Yelp
What a treasure! We landed and saw the yelp reviews...glad we did! It is charming and the quality is amazing.
google avatar

Yelp
Solid experience. The main thing I look for in a coffee shop is just a well poured solid latte. I can't complain here, because the foam was top notch, coffee was very present but not overpowering and the syrup was not too sweet. I didn't have a chance to try any of the food items so I'll add to this once I do try, but overall great and looking forward to visiting again soon! The inside could use a little renovation, it was a bit uninspired, mainly compared to the stellar outside, but not concerned enough to rate it any lower. Great job team!

Yelp
This place has a beautiful outdoor area that will be perfect to enjoy when we get a little break from the heat. The inside is spacious and clean. They have cool art and the service is excellent. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. We tried an iced caramel latte and my husband had the panini breakfast sandwich. I usually don't like iced coffee but I tasted my husbands coffee and had him order me one lol. Awesome little spot that I will be visiting often. They also have a location on James Island.

Yelp
Lovely place tucked just off a main road. House made flavors, hand crafted coffees. Avocado toast was phenomenal. Nice outside seating area.
google avatar

Melissa M.

Yelp
First time here and this coffee shop is so warm and welcoming. I got the cold brew coffee with vanilla and the breakfast panini and they are both delicious. Also they have great customer service. I will be back again whenever I'm in the area.

Yelp
The Almond Latte tasted like burnt water--threw it away immediately it wasn't drinkable
google avatar

Siena D.

Yelp
I could not recommend this coffee shop more. They really care about the coffee! I had the espresso tonic. I love that these drinks are becoming more popular. If you like something really sweet I wouldn't recommend. It really highlights the coffee and the bitters were a nice addition

Emily R.

Yelp
Caroline and staff, always take care of myself; friends and family. Thanks for all you do, cheers :)

Yelp
This is such an amazing find. Here for work and searched up a coffee place to support local and so glad that the first one I went to was closed and led me to this gem. There is an adorable outdoor seating area with all the pretty flowers. You feel like you're in a garden almost. The gentleman that took my order was very kind and explained the daily offerings to me. I ended up with a honey lavender iced latte and bacon and Swiss quiche. The best quiche I've ever had. The eggs are light and fluffy. (Magical) highly recommend this place! I'll be back if I'm ever in the area!
google avatar

Heather D.

Yelp
Highly recommend trying the cortado with added honey. You won't regret it :) Love this coffee shop!
google avatar

Alexandria N.

Yelp
A great place to get some work done! Love the outdoor seating area, but if you need to work there for a while, there's a lack of outlets. The inside has a few spots to plug your laptop in, but it's a little dark in there. Overall though, great location to sit outside with great coffee and friendly staff.
google avatar

Kimberly-Nicole T.

Yelp
I'm always scared to get lattes from coffee spots because they sometimes taste more like milk. This place made the latte just right!
google avatar

Molly S.

Yelp
Coffee is amazing and the baked goods are always so tempting and delicious! Today I had a coffee with chocolate syrup and banana bread to help me through some work. I sat outside on the patio and enjoyed the greenery all around while savoring some delicious coffee and pastries. The baristas are always fantastic and friendly. Bonus points because it's dog friendly on the patio!

Cecil C.

Yelp
Quick and friendly service. Outdoor seating as well. Roast their beans on-sight. Limited menu for breakfast but a good place to start your day in Charleston.
google avatar

Michael T.

Yelp
Kid life limits my exploration of places when traveling, but I can usually eek out a visit to a local roaster, and Highfalutin was it on this trip to SC! That said, I'm not sure highfalutin is the word I'd use to describe this shop. Ok. Hear me out. Yes. They def care about the coffee they serve and want to share their knowledge and passion with you, but the staff and vibe are so down to earth and chill, it's hard to see it as hoighty toighty and pompously better than all the rest, as the name implies. I tried the natural Ethiopian Sede as a pour over. It was winey, sweet, and delicious, just the cup of coffee I enjoy. My tip is to always let the coffee cool slightly. Once the heat dissipates a little, the flavors really shine. I loved the fact they served their coffees in cool china style cups. It gave a bit of class and character to the experience. I also really enjoyed talking to the barista. He was up to date on the coffee they served and was proud to tell me about other local roasters worth visiting. That's something unique to the coffee community and something I def admire. The shop also had a cool offering of pastries too. All in all a great experience!

Yelp
We needed a quick breakfast and we were able to order online. Our order was pretty large and they got everything correct. Packaging was nice and the man who brought the food out for curbside pick up was super friendly. The avocado toast was pretty basic but it was good. I loved my honey lavender latte. The balance of honey and lavender flavors was perfect. I tried a bite of my friends ham and Swiss quiche and it was amazing. Wish we could've gone in to see the inside but I'd stop in the next time I'm in town!
google avatar

Opal D.

Yelp
Took longer than expected to make the drink but it was good. Not many food options and was out of the only one my husband wouldn't have complained about. And he did complain when I brought home something else.

Savannah H.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite spots to do homework, the coffee is very good and the outside seating area is beautiful. I just wanted to write a review to warn hot tea drinkers- I ordered iced loose leaf tea in a reusable cup that I brought with me. I noticed that they accidentally made it hot, but I spaced out a few minutes later and drank it though the straw before it was done cooling. Totally my fault for not checking, but I've been having a really hard time even eating liquid foods for the past 4 days because of how badly the inside of my mouth was burned. If you do order hot tea, make sure it has cooled off before you drink it!!!!!! This is a cautionary tale and not a bad review :)
google avatar

Harold N.

Yelp
This place is cute and intimate. There were not a lot of places to sit by they do have outdoor seating. Not great when it's 87 degreea at 08:30 in the freakin' morning but I digress. I had the ham and cheese quiche and chai latte. The quiche was delicious but I would have rather had a thinner crust on it. The chai latte was one of the best I have ever had. It reminds me of my first chai latte in Kong's Bay at the Mad Hatter with my sisters family. That chai latte made me a believer ever since. Danny has a scone with some stuff in it. There was a lot of scone but he said it was delicious once you get tot the Tomato Caprese inside. (I'm guessing). He also said the that his coffee was remarkable. They have a limited menu so deal with that knowledge. I'm in vacay and wanting to do breakfast or bakery's every morning until I find my fave one.

Yelp
Popped in to try the coffee, and just ordered a 4 oz. latte. Got to chatting with one of the owners and one of the customers (who is clearly a fan). There was a passion, with both of them, that I loved. Coffee should not be so difficult, but for many, it is. After a 15 minute philosophical discussion on the topic, I had to go, as I had an appointment. I stepped outside, took my first sip, turned right around and told the owner his coffee was a big win for me and I look forward to many stops on my 'errand Saturdays'. Thanks for taking your products seriously.

Yelp
I don't drink coffee, but happened upon this sweet shop one luring waiting at Gerald's and wanting some hot tea. I made the mistake of getting a slice of there banana walnut bread and now I'm soooooo hooked. They have other breads/muffins but I return for the banana walnut bread often. They keep a steady crowd of coffee drinkers, so the coffee must be good. Love how convenient it is.
google avatar

Lauren N.

Yelp
I loved this place! Such a cute location and easy to get to from Charleston. The outdoor space is so relaxing! The only reason this isn't a 5 star is they only do light roast and I love me some dark roast.
google avatar

Abbey K.

Yelp
Amazing seating on the porch !! So peaceful. The coffee was delicious as well so many options !!
google avatar

Mai-Linh T.

Yelp
Coffee wise, great spot. My boyfriend loves a good dark roast and the beans they use are really top notch. Food, you're probably better off somewhere else. Pricey for stuff that's mediocre and took them a long time to prep. Also, it was frustrating when I ordered my food before three other people walked in and instead of finishing getting us our food/drinks, the barista handled the next guests orders in their entirety before making my panini.

Evie I.

Yelp
I've been here a couple times and sometimes it's decent, sometimes it's horrible. I really want to like it because the little outdoor area is so cute. I would almost forgive the bad coffee but the staff isn't very friendly and the price is too high for the taste.
google avatar

Yani C.

Yelp
Let me start with simply stating, that this place had one of the best quiche we've had! If you're looking for a place to have good breakfast, don't miss this spot. Their cappuccinos were super yummy and well made. Definitely recommended!

Ashley M.

Yelp
A little snobby, a little pretentious, but I think that's the vibe they are going for here. I wasn't super impressed by the cold brew I ordered, but it was ok. The caramel syrup didn't really have much caramel flavor.
google avatar

Amanda M.

Yelp
Was pleasantly surprised by how good this coffee shop was. I ordered a lavender latte and the shot was perfect! They know how to dial in and pour a creamy latte with lovely art that's consistent to the last drop!
google avatar

Craig H.

Yelp
Ordered the Caramel Latte and breakfast sandwich. Both were delicious. The live music by Dylan Silva was perfect...especially for a coffee shop!

Yelp
Highfalutin Coffee Roasters on Magnolia Road in West Ashley is a great place to go for well made coffee, drinks, and food. I really like the location and atmosphere here and being able to stay inside or take everything outside. This is a great place to have a business meeting or get some work done.
google avatar

Krysten S.

Yelp
A friend recommended Highfalutin and it did not disappoint. The iced coffee was AWESOME. I got the breakfast sandwich and wasn't thrilled with it, but the coffee more than made up for that. I love the outdoor seating area as well as the ambiance inside. I particularly enjoyed the local artwork on display.
google avatar

Lindsey P.

Yelp
Great service! Very welcoming and a cozy fun location. Original art on the walls for sale. Both indoor and outdoor seating. They roast their own beans in house. Place is spotlessly clean - even the restroom! Shops in the area to walk and browse. Limited menu for food.
google avatar

Timothy A.

Yelp
This is the former location of Classic Coffee, renamed and under new ownership, with a basic twist. No fancy syrups and long explanations of what you want in your coffee. Just simple choices. Plenty of snacks to nosh on as well while you sip at the bar or in the comfortable chairs by the window. I ordered the chai latte to go, and if I hadn't already had breakfast, I would've chosen a bite to eat. Love the location on Magnolia with all of the outside seating under the oak trees.
google avatar

Ken K.

Yelp
Good place for all types of coffee. The bagel was tasty with cream cheese. The service was good. The location is close to the Triangle Bar.
google avatar

Tina W.

Yelp
This was the best cappuccino I've ever had! Soooo smooth and rich. The outside courtyard was clean and the flowers were well cared for and absolutely beautiful. Service was fantastic! My only request would be having some gluten free options of bakery items.
google avatar

Minta P.

Yelp
What's in a coffee shop? Coffee. Yep, they have that! And I'm not scared to say that which we call a coffee by any other shop would NOT taste as good. I will even drive the extra couple of miles just to get their coffee...macchiato typically -with an extra shot of espresso- and I'm not sure what they put in that espresso but it definitely does the trick! Classic Coffee fits in Avondale perfectly with the other quaint businesses. With a cozy atmosphere, comfy couches, and nice baristas how can you go wrong? Aside from coffee, they also offer a select but a nice variety of juices, waters and sodas, as well as pastries and the like. Their special coffees -or "seasonal offerings" if you must- go well beyond the realm of pumpkin spice blah blah, but I'm sure they would be happy to make it if that is your cup of tea. You will also find free WiFi, free local publications {I highly recommend Coffee News, especially for the "On the Lighter Side" section.} and free business cards to skim over in case you may not know you need something. What you won't find here is ridiculously high prices, dirty sugar counters, nor employees who look like they would rather be anywhere else doing anything except seeing to your coffee needs. {And anyway, isn't that our job as caffeine addicted customers?} So set yourself free of counting bonus stars and check this place out. ~extra parking in the back~
google avatar

Chrissy F.

Yelp
The loveliest cafe nestled in Avondale is one way to describe Highfalutin Coffee. The crew is mega friendly and knowledgeable of all things coffee so you'll be sure to learn a new thing or two. I went with the tea and cbd honey sticks served in the most dainty of teacups!! Overall a great, quiet atmosphere to get stuff done or meet up with a friend. I can't wait to return!

Yelp
Quiet and comfy. Great for studying with laptop. free wifi, good coffee. Kind service.

Yelp
What a nice clean little shop. Great coffee, pastry etc. not as expensive as the other place. The help is very knowledgeable and explains what type of coffee you're getting and where it's from. Great experience. Frank G
