Hefty portions of traditional Southern cuisine are served in this simple spot that has a terrace.
"Isaac White and Anthony Singleton opened Highland Bistro at the corner of Highland Avenue and Sampson Street in the Old Fourth Ward. The somewhat troubled space has been home to a number of restaurants over the past six years, including P’cheen, Last Word, Cast Iron, the Barrelhouse, and most recently Chef’d Up. The menu features burgers and hot dogs, entrees such as shrimp and grits, and a selection of vegan dishes. White and Singleton want to become part of the neighborhood, which includes eventually hosting nonprofit events, live music, and weekly trivia nights at Highland Bistro. Another initiative they hope to kick off involves offering breakfast dishes on the menu benefiting area nonprofits. Take a look at the menu below. Masks required." - Beth McKibben
"Isaac White and Anthony Singleton open Highland Bistro at the corner of Highland Avenue and Sampson Street in the Old Fourth Ward early next year. The somewhat troubled space has been home to a number of restaurants over the past six years, including P’cheen, Last Word, Cast Iron, the Barrelhouse, and most recently Chef’d Up. At 50 seats, Highland Bistro will open for dine-in service and offer takeout and delivery. The menu features vegan dishes like broccoli nuggets, a portobello Philly, and an Impossible burger as well as hot dogs, wings, and chicken and waffles. Look for frozen cocktails at the bar." - Beth McKibben
"This is the second closure to hit this portion of Highland Avenue in a week. Mexican spot Across the Street shocked neighbors and regulars last week when it suddenly closed after 11 years." - Beth McKibben
