Highland Park Corner Store is a good stop for picnic food - Review - Seattle - The Infatuation

"This small Highland Park market is a cute place to get lunch or stock up on picnic supplies. There are shelves of essentials (and by essentials we mean fancy potato chips, wine, and candy). There’s a counter that serves a selection of satisfying sandwiches and decent coffee drinks. And in the back, there’s an ice cream shop with fruity soft serve. Though a couple of the sandwiches don’t quite hit the mark (looking at you, oily Italian sub), the shady patio out front is a pleasant place to nibble on a couple of snacks and chill out for a bit. Food Rundown Iced Latte Creamy and refreshing. What more do you need? photo credit: Gabe Guarente 764-Hero The cold cuts are sliced appropriately thin and there are nice shreds of pepperoncini. But the sandwich trends oily and the bun gets soggy—it isn’t up to the task of keeping the oil in check. Emerald City Here’s a tasty and tidy turkey sandwich with a light smear of pesto. The toasted stecca bun also gives the thing some crackle, while a chile vinaigrette keeps you on your toes. photo credit: Gabe Guarente Country Deli Club If you are a “big meaty sub” kind of person, this is the one for you—the ham and turkey are piled high and get along well with all the toppings. There’s a little too much cheese, though, which gums up the works. photo credit: Gabe Guarente Ice Cream Highland Park’s dessert stand called Tip Top makes tasty New Zealand-ice cream—frozen fruit that gets blended with scoops in a machine, resulting in nicely tart soft serve with firm ridges. Get the raspberry with some sprinkles on top. photo credit: Gabe Guarente" - Gabe Guarente

This little store is a wonderful gift to the neighborhood. The staff are super sweet, the variety of beers and wines is remarkable, and the regular events they host are always fun. And the food trucks are so good! We are eternally grateful that the store is part of our community.

Google
Neat, clean, and nice little spot for food and snacks. Friendly helpful staff as well. I ordered the Country Deli Club which was amazing! I think I found my new fave spot for lunch.

This place is exactly what the neighborhood needed. The overall atmosphere is super friendly and welcoming. Staff is always very friendly and helpful. Food and drink selection is wonderful. Great community symbol and great place to be.

Google
This is the best neighborhood corner store you could ask for. There are always a lot of kids there for my little ones to run around with while I have a beer, and the owners and all the staff couldn’t be nicer. I see them in other establishments or on walks around the neighborhood and they always wave or stop for a chat. Truly, a store that brings the community together.

Google
We love this neighborhood gem of a shop and need to start frequenting it more often since we live nearby. They have a lot of offerings in supporting other local businesses with food trucks and selling products, and Addy’s Pet Shop treats at the counter. Service is always great, friendly and personable. Love seeing the owner there working to keep the magic going. They offer amazing quality in variety of products and really delicious to-order food options. I appreciate the affordable prices for their cafe options of hot sandwiches, soup, coffee, ice cream, compared to most places in Seattle now. Had a full lunch today with Emerald City (turkey pesto) sandwich, cup of potato leek soup, Tim’s chips and Wildwonder drink for just over $20 with tip. The sandwich was built to perfection, it did not fall apart or get messy at all. I loved the way they prepared the bread on turkey pesto, crispy outside and soft inside to hold that pesto in. I always forget to take a photo before diving in so here’s a midway shot. Excited to have another dairy-free ice cream option in the area for this sunny weather! My kid loves sitting indoors, but they have multiple nice outdoor seating options in sun and shade.

Google
Great little bodega! they have tons of local items and will host food truck night on Thursdays. Make sure to try the ice cream place inside it made with real fruit!

Google
A cute little market, the ice cream is very good and I like that they have items for purchase from local businesses. The sandwiches were okay, I tried the special which was a thanksgiving style sando and then the hero which they always have. The special I felt was not crispy enough, so I popped it in the air fryer for a couple minute and that helped the overall texture of the sandwich. Great stop if you’re in the area and need a bite, but it’s a bit far from me and wasn’t wow enough for a return trip.

We were lucky enough to visit this space while in town visiting a friend. This is everything a community needs. We had a lovely breakfast in a booth with a throwback to the '80s and loved every minute of it. Tacos are relatively small so get a couple. Coffee was tasty and the service was lovely.

Yelp
Excellent service and very tasty sandwiches and Australian style ice cream. We tried sweet dairy ice cream with strawberry and banana fruit blended in with peanuts and chocolate sauce. Delicious. That said, prices are a little steep but we managed to visit 3 times in 3 days while visiting the neighborhood.

Yelp
Saw the ice cream shop viral on instagram. Highland Park corner store was cute, local essential grab and go. Though i thought the offerings were lacking, very little on the shelves. Went to the corner to order the viral soft serve ice cream and it's actually just 2 options. pick your base (vegan, non dairy coconut or vanilla) and then add flavor from an option list of 5 or 6 choices). I opted for coconut base and banana flavor since we drove there from 20 mins away to check it out. My husband and kid were uninterested. My order had good texture, tasted "healthy", if you will. I would return for a more conscious dessert choice but never with kids. The older gentleman was welcoming, shared the ice cream ordering process with me. the cashier and the ice cream mixer associate were very unwelcoming, seemed frustrated.

Yelp
Sweet corner store! They have delicious soft serve, made with real fruit on the spot. Their sandwiches are also just as amazing. Glad to have this lil store so close to home.

Yelp
Tasty food and coffee, friendly staff, and a charming and lively community hub that hosts a variety of events. Everything you could want in a neighborhood corner store, really.

Yelp
it's embarrassing that i've lived in west seattle this long and never been here but the mistake has now been rectified. stopped in around noon for some ice cream and will be putting this on my summer rotation because there's too many flavor combinations a d toppings to just go once. maiden voyage was with the vegan coconut base and marionberry flavor plus chocolate sprinkles. DELICIOUS! staff was friendly, wearing masks and there was a steady stream of folks coming in and out. seems like a great place to want to walk as a kid in the summertime for a frozen treat to cool off. lots of drink and sandwich options plus the ice cream and rows of things you may have forgotten or run out of but don't want to run further than the next corner to procure. to compensate for not having been a regular for years i pledge to spread the word far and wide!

Yelp
I was excited to try their New Zealand-style ice cream, which is regular vanilla ice cream mixed with frozen fruit using an auger. I got the strawberry flavor, which is simply frozen strawberries mixed in. I was disappointed to find that, despite the nice color they added, the frozen strawberries added practically no taste. It didn't taste like strawberry ice cream at all, but rather just had a plain milky taste. I did enjoy the soft texture, which felt like an in-between of soft serve and regular ice cream. It's possible that a different type of frozen fruit might have a stronger taste than the strawberries. If I came back, I'd try something different.

Yelp
Growing up in this neighborhood I knew this as our local corner store where my sibling and I came to buy candy or toys when we got some extra spending money. It has definitely changed over the years. I recently was in the area during the weekend and decided to stop in to see if I can grab a quick drink to go. This place is quite loved by many living in the neighborhood. They offer sandwiches, ice cream, and coffee. They also have a pretty good selection for chilled alcohol but a limited amount for regular drinks like soda, juice, energy drinks. They also have household ingredients for purchase of you missed something at the grocery store.

Yelp
I really enjoyed the Harvest Latte ($5.50 for 8 oz); espresso and milk with warm baking spices, maple, and vanilla. They also do a PSL and other fun Autumn flavors. Was happy to see some gluten-free pastries in the case! The Marionberry Jam Biscuit ($3.50) was so moist and tasty!! And flavorful but not too sweet. Service was quick and friendly. Lots of local craft beers and pantry essentials to browse while you wait -- although I didn't see a GF section, unfortunately. I love Lucky Envelope, and I'm so glad the seasonals are available here!! Definitely pick some up. Parking is easy and you can enjoy both indoor and outdoor seating. What a great neighborhood spot!

Yelp
LOVE this place! So happy to have it in the 'hood. Great staff and service, even better food and bev. Breakfast sandwiches, breakfast tacos, pastries and coffee drinks in the a.m. are a great way to start the day. Later, tasty sandwiches, soups and ice cream are on the menu. Everything is fresh and delicious. Thursdays are a must visit - free wine tasting starts at 5:00 and they have rotating food trucks - the whole neighborhood comes out and it feels like a party! The special style of ice cream is dreamy and the flavors are outstanding. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Great vibes - went here and got some of their breakfast burritos. Super tasty. Service was great too.

Yelp
I have been here on their outdoor patio for neighborhood plant swap events, but I have never been a customer here! I stopped by here on my way to the dog park and loved it! I walked up to the window and ordered an iced matcha latte with oatmilk and added their house made lavender syrup. This has to be the best, most freshest, lavender syrup I have ever tasted! It was on the sweeter side in my opinion but I would definitely get it again-- just a little less syrup. I didn't catch the baristas name but they were super nice! It looked like it was just them working and that it would be a couple minute wait but it was no problem. My dog and I sat outside in their outdoor seating which was perfect on this sunny day. Like I said, I ordered at their walk-up window but will need to come back to browse around the store.

Yelp
Love the pantry items stocked here - it's where I discovered my favorite local chili oil (kari kari). They also have some pretty sweet merch. Shop local!!

Yelp
We continued our food journey trying Australian style ice cream. We went to Highland Park corner store in Seattle, but this time Southwest in the hills. The ice cream is either sweet cream and frozen fruit or they have a vegan option using coconut milk. You can even mix the different fruits together I had strawberry & blueberry and it was delicious! This is a definite return to place. The berries, although they were frozen, they were just totally incorporated into the cream and hardly any chunks, but the flavor was amazing. I also had the salted caramel drizzle because I love salted caramel. I totally recommend going to this place if you're in Seattle. It is not near downtown at all. It's up in one of the neighborhood areas. The ice cream area is decorated so cute. The staff were super nice and welcoming while we were there. We saw many people from the neighborhood coming and getting food and other things. It seems like a great place to shop and have a meal.

Yelp
Great community coffee shop with great sandwiches. They do food trucks and wine tastings on Thursdays nights. It's got a great community vibe - come and get to know your neighbors!

Yelp
I reserve my five star reviews for businesses that exceed expectations, not meet them. HP Corner Store is one of those places. It fills a need in the neighborhood for a limited selection of grocery items. They sell a mind boggling array of beers, lined up and looking fabulous and just begging you to buy them (there are singles!). They have a small deli with drinks, coffee, sandwiches and ice cream. And it was the first time in my life I've had a beer smoothie. I was unsure (as one would be) but tasting it changed my mind quickly. It's more of a beer granita than a smoothie but it was cold, sweet and tangy, a unique and wonderful taste. I know it's hard to get to this area with the bridge closure but this place is worth it. Support small business!

Yelp
Stopped in with the family on a Saturday night. Delicious ice cream and super friendly staff. We'll definitely be back!!

Yelp
It's amazing that during a pandemic we still can have restaurants/coffee shops open up, and because of that, I want to support them as much as I can. This coffee shop is in my neighborhood and I have watched these past months as the building was being renovated for it's opening. They currently are in their soft opening, with their Grand Opening happening this weekend. Service is through a walk up window. Staff is very friendly and excited to be in the neighborhood. The menu looks good and I'll definitely be back for a little brekky! I ordered their seasonal special coffee, the latte with locally produced honey. It was really good. Creamy, not too heavy on the honey with a deep, rich espresso flavor. There is a small parking lot, with more parking on the street. Speaking with the owner, they are hoping to begin outdoor seating when the weather gets warmer and I am really looking forward to that! Welcome to the neighborhood Highland Park Corner Store!

Yelp
I bought a too good to go offer (3.99) and I received three bacon, egg, and cheese burritos that are normally 3.99 each! The staff were very friendly and they have an assortment of goods from store merch, grocery, coffee bar, sandwiches, ice cream, breakfast, beer and wine, and more it's a fun little shop to visit. I can't wait to try their coffee and food!

Yelp
New-Zealand-style ice cream was good; they blend fruit into either a sweet cream or vegan coconut base for you. Trans-rights themed slushie drinks! and coffee bar. If you have your dog with you, you can order at the window. They carry Full Tilt ice cream pints and a variety of local beers, plus other basic goods. Outdoor seating in the sun and the shade. Cool folks working there. Nice community feel.

Yelp
A corner store that actually feels like it's integrated with the community. Owned and staffed by locals, areas to hang out, and regular events... not to mention a running list of items that locals want stocked. This place is precious and must be defended at all costs.
google avatar

Jenny L.

Yelp
Not your classic corner store! This place will make you feel all nostalgic for the nineties. Somehow in such a short time this corner store has become the hub of our community. Amazing people, great goods, great coffee, amazing ice cream... what's not to love?
google avatar

Megan T.

Yelp
The Corner Store has been a great addition to the neighborhood. Food trucks, wine tasting (with an emphasis on local wines), soft serve ice cream and great coffee. Great place to hang out. Highly recommend you stop by.

Yelp
This place is so great. Delicious coffee, local wines and beer, outdoor space, incredibly friendly staff. It's the perfect addition to our neighborhood.

Yelp
Came for the New Zealand style ice cream and was not disappointed. Great staff. Out door seating. Fun beer and wine selection. Such a west Seattle gem.

Yelp
I'm super picky about Latinx food and love the breakfast taco/burrito. The salsas both red and green, made by www.sunrisetacosseattle.com are excellent and the coffee is spot on. I walk my dogs to HP Corner Store about once a week and the staff always come and say "hey" to my pups/family. As you can see I'm not a photographer but I tried to capture coffee, food and dogs.

Ryan B.

Yelp
Super friendly place with a curated selection of snacks and beer. I appreciate that they allow customers to suggest things to stock. It would be nice to have more sandwich, hot food, and draft beer options.
google avatar

Ben K.

Yelp
Excitement is an understatement to how I felt when this place opened. A place I can walk to get a great cup of coffee and small meal when making my own just doesn't sound appealing. The friendliest, dog loving staff and quick turnaround on orders make this place somewhere you wish was in every neighborhood. Definitely recommend stopping by and seeing what they're all about! I can't wait until they open up to sell further food staples and serve beer/wine soon!

Andrew S.

Yelp
Come for the coffee, return for the breakfast options. The vegan soy-rizo taco option was delicious, as was the java. I am looking forward to catching more of that fare, soon. Keep up the good work!

Yelp
I stopped by on Sunday because I saw they had house made Salted Caramel syrup. I had it in a latte and it was one of the best I've ever had. I didn't try any of the breakfast or baked goods this time, but I plan to be back very soon. Staff were super friendly and welcoming. Great addition to the neighborhood.

Sarah W.

Yelp
We love Highland Park Corner Store! The staff are amazing, and they recently opened the deli/store with great snack/essentials plus international foods! You can tell everything was intentionally picked out and designed, the owner have a lot of heart when they interact with customers. They are also very active in the Highland Park community and diverse communities around them (@highlandparkcornerstore on IG). We hope that HPC is around for a long time, and thank you for being a staple in the neighborhood!

Sophia A.

Yelp
I live nearby and come here most week days. The coffee is delicious! They also have a wide selection of breakfast/lunch bites if you're hungry. Staff is friendly, love this new spot! Try the latest seasonal drink, the MVP!

Ellie V.

Yelp
We stopped here on the way from the dog park and the staff welcomed us, chatted with us and our pup and made us great coffee. A fun stop!
