"Highland Park Soda Fountain, Park Cities. Formerly known (also referred to) as "The Highland Park Pharmacy" this spot is greatness. Literally a pharmacy / soda fountain stuck in time (it's 100 years old). Here is where you order up the best grilled cheese and chocolate shake you've ever had in your life. Don't sleep on the chicken salad sandwich, the palm beach sandwich (grilled pimento cheese), or Frito Chili Pie either. Grab a stool, take a spin, indulge and plan a Netflix binge and a nap for after your visit."

18 Decadent Milkshakes To Try in Dallas

"The most nostalgic of the bunch, the shakes and malts at the Highland Park Soda Fountain are made the old fashioned way, because they’ve been doing it that way for more than a hundred years. Since this soda fountain is closing in September, now’s the time to grab a spinny stool and a straw and sip on history over on Knox Street. Choose between vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, pineapple, cherry, or butterscotch flavors. (Cherry is the owners’ favorite flavor we’re told)." - Rachel Pinn

My first time to Dallas and I was told to check out this hidden gem. Very traditional and simple menu but sooooo good. The milkshakes are the some of the best I have ever had. A must checkout if you have time

Amazing food, wonderful staff, enjoyed the vintage drugstore. I live in Denison and drove to Dallas to experience eating at a real soda fountain/ drugstore. Waiting in line was worth it. Try the grilled cheese sandwich with a side of pickles before they close on September 8.

This place is a complete throwback in time. These kinds of places are all being torn down for new mixed use developments. Sad really. Make sure and experience this before they close.

I went with a girlfriend and her 1st grader granddaughter. My BLT was very tasty and the others in my party ate all theirs so it must have been good as well. I was too full for one of their ice cream specialties so I'll have to come back for that. We sat at the counter, service was friendly and attentive. Our food arrived quickly and I don't have a single bad thing to say about this establishment. I will be coming back.

It's no big deal that they're going out of business. $5.99 for a grilled cheese sandwich with American cheese and regular Wonder Loaf style white bread? And no side with it? My hot fudge sundae came to the table messy - running down the side in 3 places. I'm sure there are people who grew up with it. And feel nostalgic because Great, great Grandad met Great, great Grandma there. I get that. But it's not much of a place now.

My daughter and I decided to visit this quaint soda shop. They were moderately busy, but there were many tables available. We assumed we were suppose to seat ourselves, as there wasn't any sign to state otherwise. Some of the tables were dirty, but perhaps they had been busy seeing that it was late on a Friday afternoon. A waitress promptly came to our table. Our order was brought to us in perfect timing, and my club sandwich and chocolate shake were delicious. We took our ticket up to the register by the front door, and had to wait a few minutes for someone to come from behind the bar to check us out. Overall, it was a good experience, and I would go back.

If I could give it zero stars I would. Family went there over the weekend. They opened 30 minutes late. We were the first people in line and sat at a table. We waited over 30 minutes to be served. Asked for water twice and we were never given any water. We all ordered the same thing. Three of the four people in our party received their meals, one did not. Fourth meal was finally served 15 minutes after the first three (again-we all ordered the same thing). Had to ask numerous times for coffee and cream. Waitress slammed drinks and plates on our table, the food smelled like used cat litter and tasted awful. I grew up going to this place and remembered it with fondness and those memories were totally spoiled by this horrible experience. This is why this place is going under. If the owners choose to reopen, they need new staff, cooks and an attitude that reflects the true heart of the establishment.

They were closed on Monday (Labor Day 2017) by 20 minutes, they let me in, made me a delicious Chocolate Egg Cream and Wouldn't take my money. I live in Plano, Texas and will drive there every weekend for an Egg Cream. NICE Folks......I'm a Brooklyn Boy, I know my Egg Creams.
