Highlands Alehouse

This was a great place to grab a bite to eat after a morning of hiking at the Maroon Bells Park in the Fall. The Philly steak sandwich was absolutely fantastic! We also had the Angus burger which was also excellent, the fries were crispy and our side salad was fresh. I definitely give this place five stars.

Great place. Here for summer and staying up Marion Creek Dr. We did not want to get in the summer traffic into town. The chicken panini and pizza was great. Ice cold beer at the bottom of the lifts during summer was great. C U next time.

We stopped at the Higlands Alehouse on our way through Aspen. The location is at the base of a chair lift, and there were great views of the mountains. However, it was a very warm day, and we found the restaurant stuffy and uncomfortable. The bartender was very friendly, and overall service was top-notch. There were a dozen or so CO craft beers on tap. The food was good, although it was served on small, mini baking sheets and accompanied by paper plates. The homemade chips/salsa/guac was excellent ($13). The chicken panini ($22) was ok, sloppy with sauce, sun dried tomatoes, and spinach. Loved that we could sub out fries for our choice of salad ($2). Biggest gripe was that parking was $14 for just over an hour. There was also a "Staff Cost of Living" charge added to our bill. It's a 3% charge, and I'm OK with this, but just wanted to mention this so you're not surprised. Before tip, our bill was $58 for the chips, sandwich and two beers. About what I'd expect at a resort. I'm sure this place would be a must stop if It were ski season, right in the heart of the action. Enjoy!

Hung here mostly during ski season. Was a great vibe then. The summer did not disappoint either. Sundays, in the summer, they also have a live band at 4pm. Great vibe. Music, food, drinks, dogs, kids and people from everywhere! Great time, great food! Mozzarella Sticks app. Highlands Philly, amazing fresh ribeye, and fried Oreos and ice cream for dessert! Pricing is terrible. $40 per person for okay food, okay fries and terrible chips and salsa. Philly was soggy and bland. Angus burger was under cooked and lacked flavor. Chicken tenders were nothing special. Fries were okay not great. Chips.and salsa were the worse. Stale hard chips and salsa that was disappointing. Service is you order at the bar. The beer was good. Drink the beer, forget the food.

Located at the base of Aspen Highlands, right in front of the main lifts, Highlands Alehouse is our favorite spot to grab food and drinks for lunch or after a day of skiing. The food is great, the pub is nice inside, and the service at the bar is excellent. You can't get any more convenient than this place if you're visiting the Highlands.

We ate here after going to Maroon Bells from the shuttle service in the building across the pavilion. First off, this place is expensive. Be prepared to spend 40-60$ for 2 people for lunch. The best thing was the fried mozzarella. I got the barbacoa tacos, and they were awful. Not sure if it was just a slow day but the meat was super dry and tough. Philly was okay, nothing crazy. Another person we were with got the Fajita bowl, which is misleading because it's a salad. Fajitas are suppose to have meat. White rice and bell peppers. They then had to order the meat separately after realizing it was an $18 salad. When they brought the meat to us they pretty much threw it down, and it was 4 slices of dry unseasoned chicken... Great views though. We tried to talk to a manager and I guess there wasn't one.

Stopped here for lunch after we returned from maroon bells. Food was good and the service was quick. Ordered fajita bowl with Tofu and Chicken Panini.The chicken paninis were really tasty.Loved the outdoor seating with a beautiful view of the mountains along with some fall colors.Overall satisfying experience.

Ate here after a morning walk at the Maroon Bells. It was not that busy around 11AM. We ordered a pizza and it did take some time. You can sit anywhere, and they bring your order to you after because of the number you get. We ate outside with a view of the beautiful green hills. The food was delicious and fresh, and the service was good.

We were looking for a casual simple place to eat, and we found it at the Ale House! We just had to walk out the door at the Ritz and it was very convenient. The special soup was really delicious. My husband enjoyed his Caesar salad and our friends raved about the turkey club sandwich. There's not much service you go up to the counter order and then they bring you the food. Great views of Aspen Highlands. I hope to go back again before we leave.

Solid casual spot in Aspen when you don't want to spend $50 on one dish. Large menu with a great variety of food options. Pizza's are incredible.

Well what can say 27 bucks for a measly plate of nachos. The pizza is good also overpriced got 2 medium pizzas for 72 dollars. It is Aspen but seriously. And I couldn't even get extra guacamole when the nachos turned into just chips. Watch your bill too because they add the tip without telling you so you will end up tipping three times. I think I'll stick to eating at the carousel where the staff is friendlier and the prices are better even on the mountain. Where's the goodies?

Surprisingly a great place to have a quick bite before you take a ride to Maroon bells! Ordered a few beers and their whips white pizza - most fresh pizza I've had! Staff was nice and prompt! The views are fantastic Ofcourse! We did see a private event happening outdoors. Overall loved it! Will recommend for sure!

We ate her twice while we were in Aspen. It was That good. Loved the chicken quesadilla. Also the mozzarella sticks we delicious! Definitely try the fried Oreos. Sooo good! Service was fast both times we went there. Beautiful view of the slopes.

I would not return here. Sorry staff was rude, or maybe better to say nonexistent. Food was "meh"... paid close to $40 for a pizza to eat on paper plates and get no kind of service whatsoever. For the amount of money spent at this place overall, Anyway, just forget it. I understand prices are higher in Aspen. But explore somewhere else first.

Very much under the radar if you are staying in Aspen or Snowmass, this place has the best pizza in either town, a nice selection of beer, and an expansive outdoor deck and lawn for scenic dining at the base of some of highlands ski runs. (Slice of Snowmass is probably about as good but I am not including them since they sadly went out of business). Prices are fair for quality and quality. Service is friendly and quick. No complaints!

We stopped in on Saturday off President's Day weekend as a 6-top and the place was extremely busy. Yet the staff was on top of everything and making things flow very efficiently. I ended up finding out that they were several staff members short and doing their best to run the place on a skeleton crew. Looking around after realizing this, I was very impressed with not only how the staff was handling the volume, but also at their demeanor. They were definitely working hard and a little stressed, but no one let any frustration show or take any out on guests. T the food was outstanding and came out quickly. Definitely recommend Highlands Alehouse.

This place is a perfect place to grab drinks and food with friends. We came here after going to Maroon Bells for an elopement, everyone loved it. We had a patio table outside, enjoyed the outdoors, played with a few doggies, had delicious drinks, and shared some good laughs.

We came hungry! Post afternoon adventures up at the Maroon Bells, we came back to Aspen Highlands hungry for pretty much anything. Luckily they had some delicious food - - from burgers with truffle fries to cod fish tacos. We were ready to gruuuuuuub!! After ordering inside at the bar, we sat outside at one of their tables. They brought out the food and it all looked so good. Typically, we'd have leftovers from 3 full-size entrees, but like I mentioned, we were famished! My 10-year old ate 1/2 of her burger & fries + a couple bites of my husband's tacos. FYI: truffle fries are an up charge. The food + the views + fresh air made this an awesome dining experience. My entree was a burger and my husband & I shared our entrees. When we are back at Aspen Highlands, I'll be sure to go back there!

5 thumbs down to this place. I got to experience rude staff. Sloppy pizza. Sloppy looking bartenders and over priced everything. Do yourself a favor and go over to Willow Creek bistro and get what you pay for: good quality food and friendly service. I should also mention the bistro has a decent list of $6 beers.

Absolute worst bar I've ever been too don't know the guys name but we left our IDs (no worries don't serve us) but continued to be rude about us not having it when we were ordering Food... we got out of line because we were taking so long and then got back in to order food and couldn't hear my order so I pulled down my mask since I had to repeat my order 3 times because he couldn't hear and yelled in my face for pulling it down. I understand the mask rules w covid but if you can't hear me ask me to write it down don't yell at me and be disrespectful I'm a costumer not your employee figure it out bud.

Great food! We sat at the bar and the service for the food was a bit slow, but otherwise really great. I had the arugula and prociutto salad and it was fantastic. Hubs had the Elk sausage sandwich with french fries and loved it. He also very much enjoyed the beer list. Definitely the place to be at the bottom of Highlands.

Aspen is famous for being expensive and crowded, but Aspen Highlands is the hidden gem. Highlands Alehouse was the main restaurant at the bottom of the hill. The pizza was so delicious, and the mussels (special) were fresh and savory. How do you even import mussels this fresh? Great convenient location for lunch which won't break the bank. Love that it's much less crowded than Snowmass and Aspen!

Sat outside for lunch on a ski day. Crowded. But happy feel. Great beer selection! Had Ruben and tomato soup. Both were good. Friendly and helpful wait staff.

Alehouse is the best food in Aspen. The gluten free pizza crust is by far the best I've ever had. We ended up coming to Alehouse every day during our week long trip. The service and staff are incredibly friendly and hospitable. (Specifically Eric) I definitely recommend it.

Solid place for lunch and apres ski. Stopped in today and tried the nachos with chicken. The tortilla chips were homemade and all the ingredients were fresh. Didn't care for the chicken next time will try the steak or just leave it off. Perfect for sharing. Great selection of local beer and didn't try but pizza looked good. Perfect location at the base of the mountain. Definitely expensive but it's Aspen.

We just had a couple of beers here after skiing all morning. It was super cold so their outdoor patio was wide open. Why didn't we go inside? Well, we had our picnic sandwiches with us. After we were done, we cleaned up our tables. One of the guys there thanked us for cleaning up so nicely. Of course! People, they are nice enough to let you hang out on their patio, keep it clean.

Had some work up here and stopped in Highlands Alehouse, great food, friendly staff and overall pleasant atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Everything was going so well. We eat lunch everyday here when we ski Highlands. We have some friends over before we went out on NYE. Pizza from HA - perfect. So we checked they were going to be open and twice they confirmed. So I call to order. "Hello" Interesting way to answer the phone I thought. I said I wanted to order some pizza for pick up. "No, we closed early" I say "but"..phone goes dead. 1.1.17 update. Excellent response from Kevin. Clearly a snafu and quick and professional response. We are still big fans of this place!

My gf and I just love chris, funny, witty, and people really need to chill out cuz this dude is awesome. We frequent this place and it's always fantastic and they host one of the best apres closing parties in the world. Can't give enough stars to this place and the staff.

Great views, being at the base of the ski mountain in Aspen-Highlands. Very good food and moderate prices.

My favorite establishment for food and drinks in Aspen! I come here every year. Everything is delicious and high quality, tons of beer, wine and liquor to choose. Service is fun and friendly. Exactly what a ski-town restaurant should be, has an old-school feel (lacking in Aspen these days).

After a 9 day snowboarding trip to 3 resorts in 3 states and countless pizzas later, I can say this was the best pizza I had on the trip. For $6, I got a veggie pizza with a delicious, crisp crust. Yes, the crust was crisp. Not doughy. Crisp. Only complaint was that my friend's slice was way bigger than mine. They need some consistency on that cutting.

Excellent addition to highlands village. Great value and incredible food. Also, an excellent value.

Great food and music, great location. The fries and burger were awesome! The music was nice and made a good experience. Also good view of the slopes! Looking forward to coming back soon!

There really is no place in Aspen I'd rather eat. Normally, its an apres ski thing -- one thing leads to another, and a beer turns into beers (really nice selection), which then begets a pizza, some wings, their superb, unequaled gluten-free pizza, maybe a salad... Sometimes its lunch, after skiing and hiking. We'll grab a big table and park a bunch of kids and bigger people, and pizzas, burgers, wings and more beers will start heading our way and everyone eats too much and walks away stuffed. Either time, its crowded. To get to the yummy food, you have to deal with the crowd. Service consists of ordering at the bar and then they bring your food to your table. If you can get a table. They're big and there's no seating person or plan so you just have to find a group that's about the vacate and snag before someone else does. Then some other vulture will hover over you when it looks like you might leave. Crowd situation. Part of the experience. Last night we showed up about 6pm for dinner. No one there except a couple tables and a bar full of ski instructors and ski co employees at the bar. The place was so clean and quiet! And the food was even better than usual. I had the salmon, which came perfectly pink inside, on a bed of delicious spinach and peperonata. Really, really tasty. Pizza and wings for the kids, excellent as always -- the buffalo wings are seriously crisp and tasty and come out hot! Having been to the Ale House maybe 20 times, and an equal number before that when it was Aspen Pizza Co (same people, smaller location around the corner), my whole family are fans. Yes, it gets crowded. Because its really good! I wish they had maybe one or two more entree type items on the menu. For us low-carb/gluten free types, it'd be nice to have maybe a roast chicken or pork chop on the menu. After my salmon experience last night, I'm really curious to see what the kitchen could do with a few more meaty options. But that's my only sort-of complaint...

Terrible service. Employees with lousy attitude. Food for half the table came out and then 15 minutes later the rest of the table received their food. Restaurant was empty yet it still took 30 minutes or longer. Food average at best.

What an awesome place. Good vibe, great pizza and chicken wings, good beer selection, and completely packed for a Wednesday. I would definitely recommend this place.

I have been searching and searching AND searching for the best pizza on Aspen and this is it! Perfect place for some quick slices and a beer for lunch. The ordering seems a bit confusing at first but just go to the bartender! Everyone was really nice and the slices came out delicious and fast. Pretty good beer selection as well, including a good amount of local beers. Come here!

I stopped here the other day between ski runs for a quick bite. I had a bowl of the chili and to my surprise it was one of the best chili bowls I ever tasted. I spoke with my server who turned out to be one of the owners, and I was impressed by his commitment to quality ingredients. I brought my wife back tonight to try the pizza and it was definitely the best pizza in the valley. We live in Aspen on the east side of town and it only took us 9 minutes to get there. Let's support this local gem!

After reading the reviews, I wanted to try the pizza here. I called 3 times and no one answered the phone, even though the hours listed say they're open, and that they deliver.

We are frequent vacationers to Aspen and own in the Aspen Highlands development. Highlands Alehouse has been a regular spot for lunch, happy hour, and dinner for our family and guests. My favorite is the brussels sprout salad and they do a good job with the pizza. Most recently I was impressed with the manager Robbie's handling of us ordering dinner just before close and wanted to make sure he was recognized. He could have easily told us the kitchen was closed and ignored us like the rest of the staff, but instead invited us to find a table and happily offered us drinks and took our order. We eat at all the popular usual spots when in town, and Robbie's handling of us and the over served patron blew away any hospitality we have experienced at the overpriced joints downtown. The rude blond bartender with a major attitude is not helping the place...otherwise I would have given a 5 star review. As a small business owner myself, it is hard to find good staff. Robbie is a doing a great job managing the Alehouse and we look forward to another good dinner and drinks next time in town.

this place was exactly what we needed for lunch. we both got the bison burger with truffle fries. yeah its a bit expensive but you are on a ski mountain so its to be expected. the food was awesome, especially the fries. it can be tricky to find a place to sit down, but that can be a sign that the place is good! The burger and fries were awesome, I probably could have gone for round 2 but still needed to ski.

I'm a valley local and take note of the good places to have an après bite & drink so as to take friends who visit. I ski Highlands most often and was happy to see the ale house open. The first time I went in it was so packed you couldn't order. Unfortunately you have to order pizza and beer at one place which is partially obstructed by a structural pillar making forming a line hard. Also be sure to see what slices they have before ordering as you can't see what's avail when they finally take your order. Anyhow the place was so packed I went across the way to the Ritz bar, which is not my type of place typically but I was thirsty & hungry, and had great apps & cocktails with a chill vibe. Today I came back to the ale house which was fortunately less crowded. Unfortunately what I found was a grumpy cashier and a pizza cook that only grumbled when asked about slices. Perhaps it was because the end of the ski season is near and these folks were burned out but, hey, you live and work in a resort town so get over it or move. Long and short the pizza & beer were good but service sucked.
