"This Vietnamese tửu quán (tavern) has always been popular with the locals and tourists alike. Most diners take their time, enjoying the food and drink in good company. The inn serves Northern Vietnamese fare and we recommend the subtly flavoured appetisers, such as salads or spring rolls. The catfish spring roll is the tasty signature dish. The heart-warming main courses come in earthen pots. The deliciously tender oxtail stew with herbs is to die for!" - Michelin Inspector

We really liked this place, food was really good, service friendly and helpful. We had a two taseting sets of liquor, red sticky rice rules! Have to try. From the food catfish spring rolls, 5 colour sticky rice and bamboo roots stole our hearts!

The place wasn't busy on Saturday dinner time. In fact we were the only one downstairs when we got there, the place was slowly filled in with diners later. All the staffs were enthusiastic and welcoming. Staffs were happy to recommend as the menu items were special and you don't see them at any other restaurants. We ordered a few items like Smoked Buffalo and Sauteed Frogs but we did not regret. All in all it was a good dining experience.

Worst dining experience since I came to Vietnam. I did a lot of research on Michelin restaurants and finally decided to give this one a go, however extremely disappointed since entering: - dishes are bland even with dipping sauce. Honestly, my mom can cook better than them - there was a group of around 10 people in the same space which made it super noisy. I know this is not the restaurant’s fault but it was really annoying. It was like an uncle was drunk and talked super loud - it’s first time that when I eat in a restaurant, all the waiters/waitresses are sitting next to me chilling and playing video out loud. And all of them have no facial expressions. When we call them, they just shockingly looked at us, no smile at all. Does the restaurant even train their staff??? And because all of them wear flip-flops, there is sound that flip-floppers flap ground when they walk. I do not expect this in a Michelin-starred restaurant. - the only good stuff is the SonTinh rice wine. We order the apricot-flavoured one and it’s really nice Michelin better take off the star from this restaurant, otherwise I won’t trust Michelin anymore 🤣

Service The staff were friendly and polite, which is nice, but they clearly don’t get the idea of bringing all the plates at the same time. The first person at our table finished eating before the last dish even showed up. It made the dining feel rushed and awkward. Portions Portions were tiny for the price—way too small and overpriced. No sides came with anything either, so you end up hungry and out a lot of cash. No server warns you about no sides! Food We ordered duck and chicken in a few different ways—we had fish rolls for starters, they were good as a highlight, crispy and tasty. But all other the meat was so dry that even with sauce on every dish, it was barely edible without drowning it. Pretty disappointing overall for the mains. Atmosphere The place has a cozy, pleasant vibe—warm lighting and comfy setup that makes you want to stay. Overall: 2/5 I have no idea how they got a Michelin recommendation. Skip it unless you’re okay with small plates and dry meat.

Very nice different dishes. We tried crickets, pork belly, crab soup, spring rolls, morning glory and fried rice. All very nice. Friendly service and nice setting at the long tables on the first floor. Michelin or no Michelin, recommended.

They are famous for serving the most award winning Vietnamese rice liquor on earth in various flavors (SonTinh). I tasted the apricot flavored SonTinh and don't get it all all why this brand got internationally awarded. Maybe the 12/8 years aged versions are more convincing. The northern Vietnamese tapas/dishes on the menu, and used ingredients are of very good quality. They do also offer some wild stuff like snake, and grasshoppers. Besides mountain pork, sun dried deer, seafood, catfish summer rolls with dill & wasabi, fried sweet potatoes, salads etc. Herbs and greens are of top quality. Unfortunately it is impossible to test all the tempting choices on the menu in one visit. There is a spacious room for groups in the second floor. Beware that many classics on the menu are partly deep fried. My today’s favorite was a delicious broth with green leaves, a touch of crab meat, and marinated baby eggplants. Nice atmosphere, solid interior, good service, clean. Price per person for a full meal (2-5 combos) ~ 120K-500K Dong. Michelin listed 2023/2024.

To be honest it was a bit meh, maybe because I had high expectations. The chicken and duck were dry and a bit chewy. Side dishes are to be ordered separately but the staff will not warn you about it until the meat is already served. Definitely had better food in Vietnam. Otherwise the service was fast, the staff are friendly and the atmosphere is good.

This is a great spot for those looking to have an upscale meal on a budget. We had the Catfish spring rolls, hotpot, frog, beers and more. This place had great music, service and is the perfect spot to be an adventurous eater.
