Google
I was initially going to stay at a chain hotel, but ended up doing good search and found this gem. This is an amazing family owned and operated establishment and truly made my solo trip the most amazing experience imaginable. I felt very safe while staying, the staff at the restaurant and spa were truly exceptional. I loved that reservation staff sent a text message to me for self check and what cottage number I was residing in. From the rooms, very modern, spacious, and my favorite the porch area. Very close to Main Street, Uber friendly and fast! I will definitely stay at this location again in the future! Thank you for any amazing visit and stay. Oh almost forgot in the mornings they ring you breakfast in a picnic basket super cute between 8-8:30 am with small OJ. Truly a very sweet and cute touch! Highly recommend!

Beautiful place. I enjoyed the cabin, the quietness and the beautiful gardens. I wish they had blackout shades in the front windows. The lighted pathways lit up our room overnight. Our coffee maker needed to be descaled. I reported it to the front desk this first morning but it was never taken care of.

A Perfect Getaway — Cozy, Charming, and Simply Gorgeous! We recently stayed at Hill Country Herb Garden and were absolutely enchanted. We stayed in Cottage #3, and it was beautifully appointed—thoughtful in every detail. The moment we walked in, we were greeted by the most delightful scent of fresh mint. The space felt like a writer’s hideaway, with cozy touches like inspirational quotes on the walls and books that made you want to curl up and stay a while. The grounds are equally stunning—lush, mature lavender, herbs, and flowering plants make it feel like a peaceful oasis. It’s the kind of place that feels tucked away from the world, yet is perfectly located for exploring the area. Whether you’re looking to relax, recharge, or just soak in the beauty of the Hill Country, this spot is a hidden gem. We can’t wait to come back!

This place is a gem! Absolutely lovely. All essentials provided in room. Rooms are well designed cottages, spacious and clean. Loved the quiet ambiance and close proximity to restaurants and shops. Took advantage of restaurant and spa on property, which made stay even more relaxing. Perfect getaway from busy life. Enjoy your future stay!

The Hill Country Herb Garden is a true gem nestled in a stunningly beautiful setting. I indulged in several spa treatments during my stay, and I have to say Ric Reyes gave me the best massage I’ve ever experienced. His technique was exceptional and deeply restorative. The on-site restaurant also exceeded my expectations, the steak was hands-down the best I’ve ever had. Every detail, from the ambiance to the cuisine, made this an unforgettable retreat. Highly recommended!

Google
Fantastic, cozy little place with plenty of quiet and relaxing gardens all around, yet less than a 10 minute drive from many things in Fredericksburg. The communication was informative and on time, and the people very nice. Much more enjoyable experience compared to a hotel and we will definitely go back again!

Google
Spent my birthday here & we had such a great time. When I walked in our room they had balloons & bottle of wine along with a wonderful dessert in the refrigerator. I felt so special. Room smelled amazing and everything was clean and nicely decorated. We sat out on the front porch and admired the beautiful flowers & nice evening. Will definitely be coming back.

My cabin was absolutely perfect. Very clean!! Even though my cabin was close to the road I never heard any traffic going by. I cannot say enough about the spa. Everyone was SO nice and SO professional. Rick is a GOD when it comes to the deep tissue massage. Ask for him you won’t regret it. I went by myself to get away and have some alone relax time and it was worth every penny I spent.

Yelp
Still love this place - it is just phenomenally cute! I came this time for afternoon tea since I got a marketing email they started doing it recently. I came with a group of 9 folks and they had our table ready to go. They served the tea first, it's black tea and only one kind (we didn't have a selection). It was good though! They served blueberry scones with butter and strawberry mango jam first, which was lovely. Then they brought out the three tier trays, 1 tray per 3 people (with 3 of each kind of snack, so 1 pp). I liked the variety! I do wish there were more savory things than sweet though, it ended up being 3 individual small savory bites, and 3 sweet bites (lemon square, cream puff, Italian 3 layer cake). To top it off, there are several chocolates on the very top. Overall, I drank so much tea I did end up feeling full even though it's not a large amount of food. I did leave wanting for a salad or some kale because of how much sweet stuff there was, but I enjoyed all of it nonetheless! At $42pp (excluding tax/tip), this is really not a bad deal at all. The property is clean and adorable; the bathrooms are immaculate everywhere. You could get married here on the property and have your reception in the restaurant or outdoor area and it would FABULOUS, can't beat the location! Re: the tea specifically tho, I would def come again if in the area and wanting tea/snacks (especially sweet things), but I would not drive all the way from Austin out here just for the tea alone given the balance. Nevertheless, it's a unique spot :)

Yelp
I'm leaving a one star only because the service was great. I feel bad because I haven't wrote a review that's been this bad since...never. I come here every other week for my massage and have ate here a few times, not all that impressed. Chicken salad is pretty much like HEBs, ahi tuna was not fresh, etc..: but I had guest who really wanted to-try it before her massage. We started out with the crab dip. Honestly, to serve anything looking like someone threw up in a dish is off putting but to call it a crab dip when there was NO crab unless it was puréed with whatever was in it....and the taste was just nasty. I mean wretched!!! We sent that right back. Needless to say that left such a bad taste in the mouth and my friend that she canceled ordering anything unless it came out of a box. That's sad, but true. I had the house salad with chicken, (can't screw that up it comes out of a bag) and a side of au gratin potatoes, salad was good but the potatoes were sent back. Nasty and pithy tasting, should not be served to the public.... This is really sad but if you don't care on what you put out to your locals (because guest don't care as much) than close it unless you have so much money and just don't give a crap. As for the chef )if that's what you him.....Any chef who serves something that looks like puke and tastes nasty really shouldn't be a chef!!! Fire him and hire some good help!!!

Yelp
I'm extremely disappointed with my recent visit to Hill Country Herb Garden. Despite the restaurant being nearly empty, we were told we needed a reservation, and the staff was incredibly rude about it. We used to dine here frequently, but after this experience, we won't be returning. We ordered the calamari, and the portion was laughable--barely a quarter of a plate, it used to be a good size. For the price, the quality and quantity of the food were unacceptable. On top of that, the service was indifferent at best. They eliminated many of the dishes off happy hour and the entrees we were served were boring. They they overcharged us which we had to void and repay after we caught the mistake. This place has gone downhill, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone looking for good food or a welcoming atmosphere.

Yelp
Great service along with great food. We had the weekend brunch. The churros topped off a great meal.

Yelp
I love this place is so charming! They also use fresh herbs and spices that they grow and prepare- it made for a really nice salad dressing! The lettuce in my salad was crisp and contained different types of lettuce- really yummy! I ordered a cup of butternut squash soup that wasn't as good to me. The flavor was nice but it was so thick you were able to use a fork. I definitely had texture issues here and prefer a thinner soup. Service was fantastic and knowledgeable of the menu.

Yelp
Very pretty location. The Herbalist was so full of neat information. The tour is great. Bring an umbrella for shade...there are a few trees but...bring some too. ;) The layout is great. The restrooms are really clean. The workers are very friendly. The gift shop is something to visit! The food was tasty. However, we order a very large group and using a stationed meal. I guess that's kind of like a buffet. I was at the end of the line and the pickings were pretty slim. They did bring out a little bit more but not much. Everything was very tasty. Chicken waffles was my favorite.

Yelp
Came here again couple times within the past year, both were okay. The ambiance is great and love the decor and mini bar inside is unique. The staff is polite and start out being attentive. Those things are solely why there is 3 stars rather than less. Our food came and I enjoyed my burger. The fries were a bit overcooked though. The chicken and waffle was dry and the waffle is one that you could make at home. Their tea is always delicious. The waitress disappeared after we received our food, therefore making the experience of the sub par food frustrating. We have decided that we will most likely not be back. It's a beautiful place, with lots of relaxing outdoor seating areas too! Maybe just come and enjoy the outdoor space!

Yelp
This is a rave for "The Spa" Not only is it a beautiful peaceful place but the staff is super friendly. During the latest freeze my hot water pipes froze up and thankfully because I have a sauna membership I was able to shower in the beautiful ladies locker room. The staff couldn't have been any nicer and accommodating. So happy to have this beautiful place in our town!

Yelp
I just wanna put this place in my pocket!! You step onto the front part of the restaurant and you are welcomed by a beautiful lush green garden. We came here for my 40th birthday right after exploring Enchanted Rock. The menu of beverages is awesome and includes cocktails, drinks, coffees and tea. My friend had the mocktail and I had a dirty chai which I drank so fast. Sorry no photo. But it was SO good one of the best I've had with oat milk. Spring rolls were clearly made in house, huge and delicious. Peanut sauce has less flavor than what I'm used to but still yummy. Beef noodles stole the show & my friend seemed to enjoy her meal. We sat at the bar and servers were just so lovely and friendly the way a true Texan should be! This is a must stop spot if you're cruising around the Fredricksburg area.

Yelp
I visited Hill Country Herb Garden as my friend set up a visit for high tea for a group of us from work. The place itself has a restaurant, but also has a small garden and cute cottages that people can stay in, though I hear they are very difficult to come by and often booked up. The interior of the restaurant is very nice, surprisingly modern for how the outside looks with lots of big windows and plenty of bright light in the back room. Afternoon tea started with pots of what tasted like earl grey tea and some blueberry lemon scones with clotted cream and strawberry mango jam at the table. I was a bit disappointed there wasn't a choice in tea, and we weren't even told what the tea was. The scones were delicious however and made me want more pastries for the tea though there weren't much more of them. A three tier tray came out hosting some finger sandwiches, sweet cakes and treats, and chocolate truffles at the top. I was underwhelmed by the flavor of most of the sweets including the cream puff (dry and flavorless cream) and multicolored cake (odd flavor, couldn't put my finger on what it was). There was a lot of sweet, I would've liked a savory pastry or more finger sandwiches to cut that. The lemon square really was the best part of the tea tray as well as the blueberry scone from earlier on. The tea was constantly being refilled, at times a bit oversteeped and bitter, but overall good. It was very nice overall, though I don't think I would drive all the out from Austin to Fredericksburg specifically for this afternoon tea, I've had better in the Austin area. Regardless, very lovely to visit if you're in the area.

Yelp
Overpriced for the quality of food and service that is provided. Most bland meal, tasteless food I've had in a while. Would never return. I expected much better for the price point and the restaurant fell short in every single way.

Yelp
* NOTE: my review is only for the restaurant piece. We were looking for somewhere healthy to eat during our stay in Fredericksburg and we're so lucky to have found this place. The food was delicious and the vegetable shots were just what I needed. The food was so delicious and flavorful that we also did take out from here for dinner. This will be a place we frequent whenever we come to Fredericksburg. Service was excellent, quality was excellent and the ambience was lovely.

Yelp
I really hate to leave a 2 star review and its nothing against the staff, they were lovely. I went into this restaurant expecting to pay a lot of money for extremely tasty food with amazing flavors but I found that I spent a lot on bland dishes. I got the grilled chicken pesto pasta and my chicken had no seasoning, my bread wasn't even buttered when it was cooked, and the pesto tasted like dirt. My significant other informed me that all pesto tastes like dirt but as a pesto fan, I have to disagree. I've had some amazing pesto with lemony nutty flavors and this was not that. I was insanely disappointed with my meal but enjoyed my experience and the vibe of the restaurant. Just something to consider when you want an expensive nice meal...

Yelp
Fantastic experience!!!! The breakfast basket is Daaaa Best. The quality of everything and the attention to detail is superb. Highly recommend you book your stay around your spa appointment as these go fast. We will return

Yelp
Cute and cozy restaurant in Fredericksburg! Had a girls trip and diner here for brunch. They had a very lovely tea selection which was perfect for the cold morning. I indulged in the steak ranchero and opted for butternut squash soup instead of fries. Great choice but it was a little cold when I got my meal. Only reason for 4 stars but it was still very very good! The signature mimosa was delicious and made with lavender. The property grounds were beautiful even for a cold February day. I can only imagine how pretty this place is in the springtime!

Michael P.

Yelp
Place looks really nice - great atmosphere. Food is the opposite. Each dish was bland. Calamari breading fell off and was too chewy. Steak cooked wrong with zero seasoning and the crab topping had an odd flavor. Pasta and breaded chicken also had zero flavor. We tried to salt and pepper everything. Herbs are everywhere around the restaurant - please use them for flavoring.

Yelp
The atmosphere and the grounds are truly breathtaking at this one of a kind cottage style nature resort, but the lack of service at the restaurant has left us with a bad taste in our mouth. I made reservations for 3 of us at 7:00. We arrived on time and were seated promptly. It did take longer than average for our drinks and food orders to be taken, about 10 minutes. We ordered 3 cocktails, 3 shareable plates and 3 main entrees. 1 cocktail arrived incorrect. Eventually, my friend had to approach the manager to get the drink (our server had already told her twice it was on its way) but we were all nearly done eating our main entrees and she was still missing the drink. They had removed the incorrect cocktail so she had no drink for the entire meal. My other friend asked for a steak knife to cut the pork chop, but it never arrived. In fact, we had to scalp napkins and silverware from a nearby table in order to eat our shareables because our server didn't bring us any. And, all of us would have ordered a 2nd cocktail... if anybody had asked us! We're a happy go lucky group just having a nice girls weekend so this experience will boil down to us making jokes about if we need to bring silverware everywhere we go for the rest of the trip, but I think for the price and in order for the restaurant to uphold it's intended upscale dining aesthetic, the service needs improvement. On a positive note, the cottages are exquisite and do emit a very charming, upscale vibe with lots of interesting decor and fun extras like robes! I ordered an extra birthday wine and chocolate package for my friend and it was set up so nicely in her room! I think we all agree we would stay at the hotel again, but very unlikely to try the restaurant when Vaudeville is right down the street!

Catherine L.

Yelp
The restaurant is extremely quaint and I loved the ambiance. I'm going to contribute the food with the fact that it was close to closing. The creamy mushroom pasta wasn't creamy at all (very disappointing for a $30 dish) and while the burger had good flavor, it was still a little too charred. I would love to try staying in the cottages, but I'm not sure I'd go back to the restaurant.

Sarah D.

Yelp
If overpriced-mediocre is your thing, then this is the place for you. Yes, the ambiance was nice, but the food was meh, the service was meh, the drinks were meh. Every detail that mattered was disappointing. they ONLY spend their money on the decorations obviously. Not the chefs or service staff.

Jamie L.

Yelp
the setting is lovely however we arrived at 3 planning to enjoy a glass of wine and dinner but despite the hours listed on the website the restaurant was closed. There was no one to greet us and nowhere to even get a glass of water. We went back into town for dinner and when I texted to ask if there was an ice machine so we could at least let it melt to have water I received a call and was told the website said it was a contactless check in and I should have known. We were very disappointed that for $300 we had very little except a place to sleep.

Veronica O.

Yelp
Had dinner there last night for Locals Night. Everything about this place is just amazing. Susana did an outstanding job! Everything was absolutely delicious, my favorite was the jumbo breaded shrimp. The pasta was so flavorful & so creamy, I will definitely be going back to try other items. I was recommend the strawberry refresher with Tito's which was delicious. Service was 10/10 as Hugo was very attentive. Overall we had an amazing experience, if you are in Fredericksburg I highly recommend you come by.

Ellen W.

Yelp
Wow! rehearsal dinner for 25 and just beyond superb! Fantastic food, friends, family and wine! Really awesome service and great ambiance! It was absolutely perfect from start to finish!

Yamileth O.

Yelp
Place super random and such a cute vibe! Definitely recommend. Get the great mimosas!

Kendra J.

Yelp
Very disappointed. I scheduled a massage for the day after Christmas. Ended up with a stomach bug Christmas Day, but they are closed so I couldn't call to reschedule. Left a message for them to call me and then also followed up with a call at 10am. I did the courteous thing by letting them know I had a stomach bug the day before and thought it would be best to reschedule. Sure, I can reschedule, but also will be charged a 50% fee because they were closed and couldn't get ample notice. Basically what I am learning is it doesn't pay to be courteous and tell them I am sick. It would have been better to just keep my mouth shut and go in for the massage. Terrible customer service on this one.

Yelp
FAVORITE place in Fredericksburg! We widowed town for our Babymoon and we ate here as well as had a massage at the spa. Highly recommend everything off the menu but our favorite was the sushi and spring rolls!

Tara F.

Yelp
Every time we go to Fredericksburg we try to eat here. The food is always amazing and the flavor is great. They pay attention to details and even help me navigate ordering gluten free from their food possibilities. The staff is super friendly and the eating area is clean and has a fun historic feel. I love stopping by their garden shop and spa after I am done. A really special treat is to stay in the cottages onsite!

Yelp
I'm only giving this a 2 because food was ok We come to the bar fir HH once a month You are stalky don't review our local places but had to Took forever to get our orders When we did our spring rolls looked like burritos tasted ok Brought our shareables & asked if we wanted plates . Said yes but then I had to kitchen to get plates. Bartender was clueless Asked for a lemon for water & he carried it over with his hand Never came to refill water or get drink orders so went to bar & he was blowing nose is paper towels Threw those away didn't wash hands & poured my sake . Asked for nigori & received regular Took it back Still no water refills or picking up of empty plates Finally spoke out to manager about all this & he said bartender new Spoke out to server that our plates needed picked up , needs water & needed to go box It was a mess No apologies

Sharice P.

Yelp
We ate lunch here around 1 and the service was amazing, my salad was very good they forgot to put my dressing on the side, but I ate it anyways, my daughter had the spring rolls and they were very good too. The restaurant is beautiful, clean and very relaxed.

Lance B.

Yelp
Great atmosphere! Excellent drinks. Wonderful spot to visit. I have been 4 times and my experiences are always good. My friends love the food as they have healthier options. --Def worth a visit if you are in the area

Stefanie M.

Yelp
We arrived about 5:30pm, just in time for check-in. The woman who greeted us was friendly. We were pleased with our cottage. It was very quaint, quiet and peaceful. What we were not too pleased with was our visit at the spa the next morning. The woman who checked us in was not enthusiastic. The relaxation room is basically in the lobby where people check in and the staff were having a meeting in there, so there was really nothing relaxing about it. I was assisted to the women's locker room area. Upon picking my locker, I had to open several of them of which there was a leftover pretzel on the sandal... the other lockers did not work because it did not lock properly.. third try I was finally able to find a locker that was clean and worked. The spa lacks several amenities. They have an infrared sauna, but it was never turned on or warmed for their guest upon arrival, in fact, I had to turn my own on and wait for it to heat up. During our massage, you could hear the staff talking in the hallway. The massage was great and our massage therapists were very accommodating and friendly! This place is not too far from getting 4 or even 5 stars for us but they need better attention to detail and possibly reconfigure the Spa setting since it's their main attraction.

Yelp
We stayed at Herb Garden for out honeymoon. What a great experience, so clean, smells amazing and very peaceful! We will be back!

Yelp
Went for breakfast on Saturday morning. We were seated right away and greeted by our waitress. She brought out water with rose petals out for us while we were looking over the menu. We all were happy with the portions, taste and service. I ordered the eggs Hemingway: it's eggs Benedict with salmon instead of ham. It comes with a side of breakfast potatoes. It was delicious. The English muffin seemed like it was toasted prior to making the dish- a good thing. Things shared: Fish and chips: the fish portion is pretty good. Its coating isn't too thick. It was tasty. The fries were fries, nothing special. The chicken pot pie: flaky. Not what you expect, but still good. Brussel sprouts: as a side for a meal. Sweeter than expected, but still very tasty. The portion was a good sharing size. The omelette- This was probably the least favorite. I didn't taste it, but I was told that it was dry. A little more cheese would have made it better. Parking is on site and plentiful.

Yelp
My husband and I rented out the whole restaurant recently for a Night Before Dinner for about 80 people. All correspondence and preparations were done long distance. Summer, the events planner was excellent. She listened, made good notes, she also made good suggestions. It seems these days it is better to have low expectations, which we had when we showed up to decorate prior to the event. They exceeded our expectations! Brandon, the manager came out immediately (without our asking) and helped us bring in a car load of decor. All was setup beautifully in the restaurant exactly as requested. The waiters and waitresses were extremely professional and the guests even commented how nice and professional the staff were that evening. We are sorry we did not get all the staffs' names. Robert, one of the waiters was so personable and helpful and was there as we were setting up the decor as well as serving our guests.Brandon and the whole staff bent over backwards. The food was delicious with great presentation. We couldn't have been more pleased and we highly recommend The Herb Garden.

Bevolyn W.

Yelp
The Hill Country Herb Garden in Fredericksburg was private atmosphere. There were a lot of customers in attendance. The meal as well as the ambiance was great. Very lovely restaurant for friends as well as the entire family.

Sandra S.

Yelp
Review of spa and restaurant: We had massage appointments late on a Sunday morning while visiting the area and loved everything about our time at the Spa! It was fairly quiet that morning - with just a couple of other people at the spa. The massage therapists were excellent and we both felt amazing after the 90 minute splurge! It was also such a treat to enjoy time in the relaxation room sipping the complimentary mimosas they provided once we finished our massages. After, we had lunch at the restaurant which was quite good. My friend had the chicken salad croissant and I had a salad with chicken on top. We both tried the anti-inflammation shot as well - which had quite a zip!! All in all, we had a lovely time at Hill Country Herb Garden - and definitely recommend it!

Yelp
Wow! Stopped by whilst on Fredericksburg. We had heard about this place so were curious. The restaurant is amazing. Asian inspired foods with lots of flavor. Drinks and wines are great. Service is amazing. We are planning a return to try the Spa.

Yelp
So close to downtown Fredericksburg. Great little place. I recommend this place. Staff were attentive.

Yelp
We have stayed here multiple times and it has always been a pleasure. The cabins are adorable, neat, and clean. The staff is incredible. Customer service is outstanding, which is difficult to find today in many places. We love our experience here and will not hesitate to tell others!!! We'll definitely be back.

Yelp
My husband and I had a lovely time staying here! We visited Fredericksburg for the first time and LOVED it. Our first evening we had a wonderful time sitting at the bar and the staff were wonderful and so helpful with places to try and things to do around town. Everything was clean and fresh and so relaxing! We can not wait to return and try out the spa! This is definitely a wonderful place for a weekend get away and the breakfast was amazing!

Laura W.

Yelp
We spent one evening here for our quick anniversary get away. We loved the place. The room was nicely decorated, modern and natural decor. There were wonderful fragrances in the room of spearmint and eucalyptus. A big and comfortable bed and a room with all the comforts of home. We loved our little private cottage.

Yelp
Recommend. Nice changes to restaurant. Good brunch menu. Good service. Would rate 5 stars except Benedict was served room temperature.

Yelp
Went there over the weekend, between 4-6 1/2 price appetizers. Both very tasty. Main meal steak very good. Service was top notch, vibe of the place was very nice.

Yelp
Horrible customer service. I had booked a couples massage for me and my sister. I booked online. We were running a couple minutes behind as we were driving from Austin. So I call the spa to let them know 45 minutes before the appointment that we will be a little late. They tell me that their system showed we only booked for one person. I let them know I booked for two people and they said they'll see if someone is available. I had even put in the notes when I booked that I am booking a couples massage for me and my sister. Since we already drove over an hour we decided to continue in hopes there would be some other option. When we get there they don't offer anything, the reception just start checking me in. I let her know if there is any way both me and my sister can get a massage, even separately. She says there is nothing. We felt that it didn't make sense for one person to wait for another person to get the massage so we let her know we won't do it. She still charged me $140 for "cancellation" even though we didn't cancel and drove 2 hours to get there. They didn't offer anything else for another day. Extremely rude and unprofessional. There are probably so many better spas to choose from. Do not recommend this place.

Yelp
Came here during a road trip to Hill Country. It was a lovely stop - beautiful and quaint path from the parking lot to the restaurant. Nice homey feeling, and all the staff members (and patrons) are very kind. We did the TX wine tasting, which was 2 reds and 1 white, with some pirourettes. Really liked it! My dining parter and I shared several dishes. The baked meatballs (hand rolled meatballs, baked with marinara, four cheese blend, sliced focaccia bread) were alright - not too special but still tasty after a long car ride. The farm haus flatbread pizza (marinara, ricotta, grilled sausage, oven roasted tomatoes, mushrooms, gruyere, gouda, parmesan, mozzarella) was excellent! I loved how loaded up this pizza was. I'm a huge fan of pizzas with tons of toppings - so yum. I thought the fritto misto (lightly breaded scallops, shrimp, and calamari, with basil, garlic lemon butter sauce, house marinara, lemon wedge) was good but not spectacular. Lastly, we enjoyed the farm haus omelet (bacon, ham, breakfast sausage, red potatoes, gouda cheese, sweet onion home fries), which was fantastic! Loved the flavors and textures of this dish. The fries were delish as well. Service was on point. They're really showing their Southern hospitality!

Yelp
Ultimately a disappointment, I love leaving positive reviews for businesses but this is an expensive hotel that looks good on instagram and fails to deliver. Why a 2 star review - 1) starting off my wife booked a massage for right after checkin to help kick off the 'relaxation' mind set. While very kind, the masseuse was very shakey and unsteady which resulted in a very uncomfortable experience and forced her to leave halfway through. She explained this to the front desk and a manager called her the next day to resolve the issue. The resolution proposed was 25% off 1 item in the spa. This fails for a couple reasons - first I shouldn't have to give you more money to resolve an issue with a service you provided and second, most items in the spa store are about $15. A $3 discount doesn't fix a $120 massage that was so poor she left early. This was communicated to the manager who had to connect with the general manager with a promise of reaching back out. They did not reach back out. I don't mind when things aren't perfect - every massage is unique and can't always be a perfect match, however, they had a chance to remedy the situation and they didn't. 2) as a bed and breakfast you expect the breakfast to be a highlight. They don't make clear what breakfast is on the website and there is a reason for that. everyday was a pastry, a small protein serving, a mixed fruit cup. These don't appear to be fresh made items but rather things someone bought at H‑E‑B in bulk and broke out on plates. I ended up buying an additional breakfast in town everyday. I've eaten far better breakfasts at cheap motels. 3) While more subjective the bed was extremely uncomfortable. It is a hard spring mattress with a 1-1.5" foam topper. As a side sleeper my neck, shoulders, and hips are all sore and I am not looking forward to another night here. Positives - good location to town, lovely grounds, the cottages are well styled and lived up to the hopes my wife had when she booked the trip.

Yelp
I am a fan of this place, the decor, the gardens, the friendly staff and of course the food. I like the fact that the entree items changes often. Each time I visit there is something new to try. I normally like to start off with the french onion soup, I know others have mentioned that it is a bit salty. That might be true but I still love it and always finish my cup. This time around i tried the pork belly meal. The pork belly was sitting on top of orecchiette pasta with Gouda cheese, roasted brussel sprouts and fished with some jalapeno jelly. I found the pasta a little al dente for my taste but all in all I really enjoyed this dish. The wait staff is attentive and when I tell you I drank about half a gallon of the iced harvest herb tea, just know I am not kidding. It was hot, the tea is caffeine and sugar free so don't hate. For those of you that need something a little stronger they have a nice selection of wines and cocktails to offer. One more thing if you visit make sure you check out the bathroom. They always have the nicest smelling room freshener. They sell them in the gift shop and they are all natural.
