Set in a 1920s bungalow, Hillcrest brews local roasters and turns Thursdays into a donation-based listening room for original music. Often highlighted by Visit Central Florida, it’s equal parts neighborhood café, arts venue, and porch-swing hangout.

Cool, divey, comfy little coffee shop! The decoration is really cool, with instruments, records, art.. the coffee was great and the service as well! There is a decent amount of outdoor seating on the wraparound porch, lots of seating inside as well, including little nooks to tuck away into and work from. I worked here most of the day and had a great time.. there is a decent amount of parking in the lot as well as street parking out front. The place gives "old church vibes" and definitely is a must do if you're looking for a unique coffee shop in Lakeland. Oh, and im coming from Orlando, so take that in account, but the prices were great! I haven't had an espresso under 3$ since i moved to Florida, lol.

Had about an hour to spare and stopped in here. The service was quick and competent. I ordered a vanilla latte and broccoli quiche. Both were delicious! The setting is intime but has more seating than you’d think. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. Sorry about the quiche pic, I forgot to take it before starting to eat. Again, delicious!

Google
Can’t believe I consider myself a local and hadn’t had coffee here yet! It was delicious (and I tend to be a coffee snob) the bagel was also super good and the vibes feel like if you’re dinning at your grandpas house while he plays his records. I genuinely enjoyed my visit. And getting served in a glass jar instead of a plastic cup was awesome!

Great service. Delicious coffee. Cute decor

Google
What an awesome place to enjoy your coffee! They're super friendly and serve the good stuff. Such great quiche and bagels 👍 👍

Google
This place rocks, anyone complaining about service simply needs their existence to be validated. We are all a little dead inside, hooray for Jesus. Thanks Hillcrest for a great experience all around.

Google
Charming and cozy atmosphere, making it a great spot for locals. The four-cheese quiche was absolutely delicious, and my maple spice latte was enjoyable. However, the customer service left something to be desired. Upon entering, we weren’t greeted, and when I asked about flavor options, the staff seemed unsure and not particularly eager to help. One employee had to step in to answer my question, and when I asked for recommendations, they weren’t very engaged or informative. They weren’t rude, just not as friendly or welcoming as I would expect in a customer-facing role. Overall, the food and drinks were great, but the service could use improvement. A little more enthusiasm and willingness to engage with first-time visitors would make the experience much better.

Google
Went in today on mission to try an iced coffee. The beautiful girl at the register was so helpful!!!! I asked for recommendations and she gave two really great and unique ones. I ended up trying an iced choc strawberry coffee and man did it not disappoint! So good!!! Both times I have went here there has been a cool band, very friendly and helpful people working, and just a nice chill vibe. If you haven't tried it you should.

Yelp
This was my first time to Hillcrest Coffee. I love the ambiance, there were people coming and going thru my visit with a friend. There were college age thru retired folks. My latte was delish as was the chocolate croissant. Service was really good as well. We got our treats and sat at one of the tables and caught up! The shop is unique and I look forward to trying it on live music night soon.

Mauricio G R.

Yelp
Nice and cozy place to have a nice cappuccino and enjoy the good home made pastries they have. They have live music once a week that enhances the whole environment significantly. My wife and I with love to have this place with extended hours or we'd visit more often

Yelp
Loved the vibes here!!! They have cozy and eclectic decor inside and seating outside. The staff was SUPER nice and were welcoming. We were a group of 6 and everyone enjoyed their coffee! We had one person score their coffee a 7/10 and that's along because they wished they would've gotten more sweetener. They have A LOT of flavor options for your coffee. I will say, I'm personally not a fan of buddy brew coffee and that is what they serve here. However, I very much enjoyed my drink. Maybe hill crest does something different with the coffee! I will be back!

Yelp
We love this cute little coffee shop! We visit whenever we are in town for a great cup of coffee and a delicious pastry! The staff is friendly and knowledgable and provides wonderful service! Definitely recommend for any coffee connoisseur looking for an above average cup!!

Yelp
When the attendant cannot decide which quiche is the best, you know they have great food and it was. I settled on a great one. Yeah, can't remember which but it was great. Servers were friendly. Setup is very casual. Sat in the room at the back. WiFi worked. Coffee was good with no add in.

Yelp
Awesome place! Delicious! Hut if you get the matcha, just ask for it to be whisked for a longer time lol

Yelp
This is such a cozy/homey coffee shop. Today we stopped by after lunch and it was delightful. I got an iced lavender/mocha flavored decaf latte with a honeycomb breakfast cookie. It was all amaaazing. The girl at the counter was friendly and caring. We'll be back soon!

Yelp
Smells of mildew & mold! Went to experience the music on Thursday night. It was too loud! No coffee after 8 pm? I was confused!

Yelp
Arrived at one of my favorite coffee places not only in Lakeland but in Florida. You can park in the small parking lot by the side of the cute yellow house where the coffee and tea are sold or on the streets that surround it. There are sitting spaces inside and out. It was a bit in the freezing side when we got there this am, so if you are sitting inside bring a sweater, it is refreshing when it is 90 out but tend to get a bit chilly after a few minutes. The pricing is so reasonable, feels more like the 2000's than 2022. $3.65 for a latte.,at a place down the street they charge $5.50-$6.25! Crazy! So much better here AND the folks that work here... so polite! I thought I would get into one of those cartoon arguments with a barista of who was going to go first in a hallway! He was much too polite with his hands full, lol!!!! My honey cinnamon latte, delish!!!!!!!!! My hubby got coffee. All coffees are made from beans from a local company called Ethos, Buddy Brew and Patriot. $1.10 an ounce. Have had them all...gets your heart racing, in a good way

Yelp
Nice little quiet coffee shop away from the busy downtown. It's homey inside and has ample seating outside. An "anyone" kind of place. Got my basic vanilla latte and our guests could get the daily special coffee and flat white, etc. Coffee was excellent. We were there pretty early and they were sold out of any type of pastries. But definitely worth the stop for a coffee.

Yelp
This is a great location. Really fun, cool vibe and a nice old home. Tried two different types of coffee, both pour over style. Both were excellent. The staff was very knowledgeable, friendly & helpful. Also tried the quiche which was delicious.

Yelp
The coffee was amazing, excellent service and atmosphere, the live music, the place, I loved it.

Yelp
Ahh, Hillcrest just feels like home.. This is actually the truth, though, because Hillcrest Coffee is literally set up in an actual house in the middle of a Lakeland neighborhood ! There's a lovely wrap around porch with outdoor seating and it's super cozy and close quarters inside. This can both be good and bad. If there's a lot of people inside it certainly gets quite loud. On special nights there is also live music from local performers, and that's when the intimate space really becomes fun. I think the coffee itself is good! It's not one I'd rave about but it's definitely worth going and enjoying, especially sitting out on the porch if able. There's also a special white kitty that likes to hang around the house and take in all the pets (and treats if you give in). She has let me pick her up too, such a sweetie. If you click your heels to return home, you may just end up at Hillcrest Coffee!

Yelp
Amazing & unique experience. Artsy ambiance. Excellent Coffee. Kind, thoughtful service.

Yelp
A friend got us a gift card to this coffee shop so visited for the first time and we had a wonderful experience. Such a cute and cozy ambiance to sit an study or just relax with a good book. The food and coffee were delicious. Not pictured was a magic bar (dark chocolate, coconut, and goodness) because it was eaten to quickly. The sweater weather tea was like drinking an apple pie. I got it iced but I recommend getting it hot. I'm actually going to order that tea from Color theory because it was so good. The service was great and the employees were very nice. There are plenty of places to sit (inside and outside) and they even have board games you can play and they also have live music on certain days. Almost everything was great. The only cons was the parking was very hard to get in and out of and there was no changing table in the bathroom for babies. But other than that it really was a cute coffee shop where I would love to go and just sit and relax while drinking some tea. If you haven't been you need to give it a try!

Yelp
Located near historic downtown Lakeland in a gorgeous bungalow, Hillcrest Coffee is a lovely, lively place to go for delicious coffee and a treat. If you are lucky, you might spot their little cat hanging around outside. (It was friendly, and let me give it a head scratch and take it's picture.) There are places to sit under the tree outside, on the wrap-around porch, and plenty inside at tables, chairs, and couches. Since it used to be a house, there are different rooms set up, tucked away with different vibes and things to discover. There was a music room with records and a turntable, a room you can reserve for group meetings, bookshelves, games, plenty of outlets for laptops, etc. It was very homey and comfortable. I entered and ordered a cappuccino with a shot of caramel and a chocolate chip scone from Honeycomb Bread Bakers. After ordering, you go and sit and they will bring your drink to you. The cappuccino was perfect, just as I wanted and the scone was just lovely. My friend had tea and a bagel. There is a small parking lot behind the shop, but plenty on the street surrounding. If you follow them on social media, you will see they have lots of things happening here during the day and some evenings as well.

Yelp
The food is always awesome and the staff is friendly and attentive. This place has a great ambiance for studying and just relaxing.

Yelp
my husband and i's favorite coffee place in town. the drinks are fabulous! (the quiches are our fav food to get) the baristas are so sweet and the atmosphere is unbeatable. we can stay here for hours!!

Alyson P.

Yelp
Adorable coffee spot! We're from New England and can be picky about our coffee and bagels. The coffee was incredible, and the cheddar bagel was to die for!
google avatar

Yelp
Fantastic little spot. Just far enough off S Florida to allow for a quiet coffee while sitting outside with a book or friends. Plenty of spaced out seating inside and out.

Yelp
I've lived in Lakeland for over a year and have never stopped here - but I'm glad I did. The house cold brew is delicious - just a hint of honey as a sweetener. They have plenty of outdoor and indoor seating. Also there are games to choose from and a big record collection. There is not really a big food selection, just some baked goods and maybe bagels (I didn't try any).
google avatar

Karleigh W.

Yelp
One of my absolute favorite local spots. Indoor and outdoor seating. A great place to get some work done, meet a friend for coffee, or relax on a weekend morning. Their iced chai is perfect and the quiches are consistently out of this world. Staff is always friendly.
google avatar

Yelp
We loved this place! Stopped in on our way from Orlando to Tampa, I was looking up a new spot to try and this one caught my eye. Soooo glad we did!!! Such a chill vibe, the coffee was great and we were treated so nicely!! I absolutely loved that the bike racks were coffee themed haha .. My only complaint is that it's not closer to where I live! we will definitely be making a trip over here again!! Try their Peach-vanilla latte
google avatar

Vanessa K.

Yelp
Food is really good and so is the coffee. Very homey vibe there feels like your eating a meal in your house. The workers are very nice.
google avatar

Samantha S.

Yelp
Very cute country style coffee house. I wanted a bagel so I looked up this place and decided to go. Driving past you might just believe it a house but come in and you are bet with a beautiful place to get coffee and relax. I got the French press and definitely done well because I can drink it with no sugar or milk (that's how I judge if a coffee house is good or not among other things ) the bagel was delicious, if not freshly made here its definitely made local.

Yelp
Excellent coffee at fair prices with great service in a a delightful neighborhood setting in a 95+ year old home. They serve 3 different roastery beans, two being Buddy Brew & Patriots, with local high quality homemade pastries from some of the best bakers in town. I enjoyed an iced latte and a pumpkin-cranberry scone. Seating is available in rooms in the home, on the front porch and on the grounds around the home. You order inside but they bring it to you. There are bike racks in the shape of a coffeepot and mug on the grounds. The overall experience and taste was nearly 5 star. As a new fan, I found their parking lot difficult/crowded, but nearby parking involved being catcalled by a local hoodied homeless person, a little scary. At the ordering counter, available "eats" were unclear and limited to one thing, visually. Featuring baker names would build familiarity. Wished for skim milk option. Not personally entertained by drinking out of a pint jar, I'd ask for plastic "to go" cup next time. Ice had black flecks in it-a concern.
google avatar

Amanda R.

Yelp
Not pretentious in the least and staffed with very friendly people! They used buddy brew double dog espresso in my latte- it was lovely and smooth with hints of caramel and chocolate. I've had espresso based drinks in 'higher end' establishments that make my mouth pucker like i just ate a lemon.. no thanks. These guys also know what they're doing with your almond-milk beverages. Coffee not your thing? Get a glass carafe of one of many varieties of iced teas for sharing.

Yelp
Our absolute favorite local coffee shop. It's in an old house, so the vibe is so welcoming and cozy. We can always find a nice spot to read or just sip on the delicious coffee- gummy husband recommends the pour over!!- or hot tea latte. We love going here, and it's nice to have the option to sit outside on the porch or inside on the aesthetically mismatched furniture. Love this place!!
google avatar

Bianca M.

Yelp
One of my favorite coffee shops! So many wonderful nooks and crannies to sit at (including an outdoor porch), amazing staff, reasonably priced drinks, great music on Thursday evenings and Friday afternoons

Jeri D.

Yelp
Such a cute coffee shop! Service was friendly. The sweet lady behind the counter was clearly excited to be working there and took pride in serving. The coffee and pastry were delicious.

Yelp
This place is adorable. I want to live here. Coffee and muffins are good too. So I have to write more? It's in a done over cottage, seating in and out. Ambience is wonderful.

Yelp
This is an amazing Coffee house. The aesthetic fuels my soul. The coffee is tasty and the decor is lovely. The floors are a bit creaky but it's an overall good place. :)

Yelp
Found in the Dixieland Historic District , Hillcrest Coffee is such a fantastic spot for coffee, tea and a snack. It's resides in a 1925 bungalow with a wrap around porch. It has such a welcoming comfortable feel . They invite you to stick around for awhile as you relax on one of their couches or cozy chairs. They offer games for all ages to engage in . They even have live music and other events to check out. Find the schedule on their Facebook page. Coffee is from three local roasters. Sweets are from Honeycomb Bread Bakers. It's a lovely place to chill.

Yelp
Came over from Brandon to try a new coffee shop. We tried cold cafe latte, Americano, licorice cold tea, and cinnamon apple cold tea with a blonde coconut brownie and currant scone. The coffees were very good, the teas were brought to us and the waitress did not know which was which. We tasted them and they tasted very similar, the waitress who brought the coffee did tell us which was which. We would try different tea next time. The scone and brownie were both also very good. The shop is very cute inside with nice places to study or visit. We sat on the porch with the nice weather. Over all our experience was good but will not do the drive again to visit, if in the area we will stop by for coffee.

Yelp
Great coffee options and even better pastries. Friendly staff cool place to vibe with friends or alone. Homey decor.

Yelp
Hands down the best coffee shop in a 20 mile radius of Lakeland. Super underrated and it deserves a lot more respect. Good coffee and good treats/pastries
google avatar

Yelp
Very good Rspresso, although a blend. I was tempted to have a Kalita but the espresso was well worth it. Good padtrirs as well...

Yelp
Love, love, love Hillcrest Coffee. I love coffee, I love drinking it at home, at work, but my favorite is hanging out in a comfy coffee shop and reading with a nice cup. Hillcrest is cozy, eclectic, and warm. There is plenty of parking, unlike a few other places in the area. The staff is so friendly, very happy to explain their unique drink creations to the curious. They use quality coffee, mostly from Buddy Brew in Tampa; they source all of their coffee from individual farmers and deal with them directly. I'm sure there are other coffee places in the area I have yet to try, but Hillcrest is by far the best one I have been to so far.

Hannah H.

Yelp
Visited here to work remotely while in town and enjoyed myself. It had reliable WiFi and just enough busyness to focus on my work but also take a call without feeling like I was disturbing anyone. The vibes are friendly and comfortable. I ordered a dirty chai latte and a scone which were both great!
google avatar

Victor W.

Yelp
Great coffee, good options, friendly staffers, comfortable setting, a lot of seating. Good place to sip and chat. You will love it.

Yelp
Definitely a favorite place of ours! great coffee and service!! have a lot of coffee options for drip coffee/french press/pour overs. so nice for someone who has specific preferences. serve very fresh locally roasted coffees! cute atmosphere.. more of a cozy eccentric cluttered feel.. like the perfect reading and cozy conversation type place. lovely outdoor seating options as well!! right off 98 but still quiet and tucked away!

Yelp
Hillcrest Coffee is cozy little coffee shop located in historic Dixieland, near downtown Lakeland. The building is a beautifully restored bungalow giving the place a very relaxed, and laid back feel. There is comfortable seating in the rooms of the old house giving you lots of options to find a quiet corner to enjoy your coffee. There is seating outside as well, so feel free to bring your dog. The food options are limited to baked goods and quiche, but the coffee options are expansive. I got a Kalita pour over and bacon quiche, and both were very good at a reasonable price. Service was good and the staff was friendly. Great place to sip some coffee and enjoy a baked treat!

David R.

Yelp
They actually know how to make a cappuccino!! And it tastes good!! Proper milk foam and coffee
google avatar

Kim B.

Yelp
I couldn't give it 5 stars though the quiche and scone was delicious. Hot breakfast or any tea should be served in a teapot with the teabag in it so you can pour yourself a cup and a half. They brought out a cup of black tea, sans teabag, saucer, milk or sugar. Other than that, it's a wonderful little place.
google avatar

Edward R.

Yelp
I'm spending a few weeks in Lakeland over the holidays and have had a chance to try a few of their local coffee shops. Hillcrest is fantastic. I like black coffee, be it pour over or drip, and Hillcrest's coffee is delicious. Strong with a good flavour. Not to mention the staff is delightful, the space well appointed and quirky, and they sell good locally roasted beans to take home. Definitely check out Hillcreast Coffee next time you're in Lakeland!
google avatar

Erin W.

Yelp
Wonderful, we really enjoyed ourselves. Beautiful decoration and friendly staff, along with an adorable white cat. I have the cinnamon cappucino and my mother the mocha while trying the bacon quiche from a local bakery and the everything bagel with cream cheese. Sat on a small, adorable wooden table. Will definitely be revisiting, the coffee and atmosphere are wonderful.
google avatar

Stephanie H.

Yelp
What a cute, eclectic coffee shop. We stayed nearby at Springhill Suites and stopped here for coffee and a quick bite before we got on the road.
google avatar

Lexie L.

Yelp
Wowza! That coffee is the bomb diggity! The atmosphere is warm and cozy; it feels like you're at someone's house and they're just taking good care of you. Honestly, six out of five stars.
google avatar

Yelp
I love Hillcrest for many reasons. The first being that it is an old Lakeland home that was transformed into a quaint coffee shop. The second is for the abundant stash of games available to play. The owner is a really kind man who has poured a great amount of heart into turning Hillcrest into what we enjoy today. I've had a numerous amount of drinks but the one that reigns supreme is the cold brew - it is the perfect amounts of potent, smooth and earthy.
