A Sunday institution and, per San Diego Magazine, the city’s largest and oldest market. Temporarily set on University Avenue during promenade construction, it still delivers a deep bench of local growers, global street food, and live music.

Such a lovely farmers market. Every Sunday we walk over to get some fresh berries and lunch for the day. So many cool small businesses and people to chat with. Would absolutely recommend. They offer a ton of unique food vendors. You can find something for everyone here.

Google
This is one of the largest markets I’ve ever visited with the most variety and the most people attending. That said, it’s easy to walk around and shop for local products, vegetables and handmade items. There’s also live music by either a band or solo performers in different sections. The event only happens on Sundays, but it’s definitely a must do while in Hillcrest.

Google
Biggest farmers market I've seen in socal. Lots of great options and dogs everywhere!

Google
Our second time going to this farmer market, and it has been great both times. It is slowly becoming a routine thing we like/want to do. We have gotten the best strawberries that I think i have ever had, from there. We got some scones from one of the vendors. They were okay, not great, but okay. We get Saigon coffees every time we have gone, but we like that place regardless of getting it there or not. The overall market is pretty cool and has some really cool tents set up. If you have thought about checking it out, stop waiting and go explore it! You won't be disappointed!

Google
Great farmers market with great selections especially fruits and vegetables. I was too full to try any of the food vendors, but some of them were just so tempting. Parking was a bit difficult. Vendors are just friendly and the Hillcrest location is great.

Google
One of the best farmers markets in San Diego. Pricey but what else is new. Never thought I’d spend $40 on two grilled cheese sandwiches and two cookies but here we are. Great vendors, huge selection of fresh produce, cooked to order food, beverages, coffee, artisan breads & pastries, etc. Many areas are so congested with people and baby strollers… kinda felt like Disneyland. We got lucky with parking in the free DMV lot but tons of the same cars kept circling and circling. Expect it to be crowded. We don’t come often so it’s worth the minor inconveniences.

Google
So fun, colorful and welcoming. Amazing vendors!

Google
The best Farmers Market ever. We drove from Hemet to go to Kobys Swap Meet which turned out to be a bust. We decided to find somewhere to eat and figure out the rest of our day since it was only 9:30 and we had seen the entire swap meet. Our waitress overheard enough if our conversation to suggest Hillcrest Market. We will be making future trip(S) specifically to enjoy the Hillcrest Farmers Market.

Yelp
I was so happy to stumble upon this farmers market!! It was just after having Brunch, so I was saddened that I couldn't try more food options. Every Sunday from 9am-2pm there are a host of food and artisan vendors to choose from. Vendors were friendly and the vibe was nice to walk through even if you don't have a lot of money to spend. Maya's cookies were delicious!

Yelp
UPDATE! I am still a farmers market dweller! Hillcrest Farmers market seems to be getting more packed by the year and I feel it's with more locals (not tourist as the Little Italy farmers market)... for that this wins over. Since earlier this year they moved the farmers market a couple blocks while construction is happening - now blocking off University Street. Pros and Cons. While I DO like this setup, I also feel it is a less safer setup - it's now on the Main Street thru Hillcrest, yes blocked off, but not fully barricaded off - a crazy person could drive and knock right thru. Sadly, we gotta think about this ish these days. Great finds: - Fresh farm eggs (for when I make fresh pasta noodles) - Super sweet fruits (mango peaches, white peaches, pluot plums, mulberries) - Vibrant and lush vegetables It is this farmers market that the farmers themselves teach me a thing or two about their products they are selling. Recently, I learned the best way to pick nectars, peaches, and plums are to look for the "freckles" or "specks" on the skin. They are the sweetest ones; signal concentrated sugars and intense flavor. Overall, I feel there's more space for vendors to spread out. And the street does feel a lot wider where there is more walk room for pedestrians. My dog LOVES/LOVED coming tot his farmers market. It was the first one I brought her to when I first got her and she than became my farmers market partner to every farmers market in SD county. This one is SUPER dog friendly. They have water bowls out for dogs, many people bring their dogs, and it's the farmers market where I see the most dogs attending. It was also my dog's last farmers market she went with me before she passed. As much as I enjoy going out to eat. I've slowed down and focusing on picking healthy groceries, making a good home cooked meal, and knowing what exactly is going into my body. Farmers market makes me wish I had the skills to build a tiny garden.... But I'm unskilled so you can always find me shopping here.

Yelp
This is hands down my favorite farmers market in San Diego County! It offers an amazing mix of fresh produce, delicious lunch options, and unique specialty items. Whether you're shopping or just browsing, there's something for everyone. My go-to vendors are Saigon Coffee for their iconic Vietnamese coffee and Dimashq Baklava for their one-of-a-kind Syrian baklava, both are must-tries! It's the perfect way to kick off my Sunday.

Yelp
This was a fun farmers market. I loved how they had an actual parking lot...although it was full when I was looking for a spot...I still welcomed the idea of offering that. I love plants and found an awesome vendor that was very knowledgeable and helpful in guiding me in how to best take care of them. I will definitely be back.

Yelp
A family favorite on Sundays! We love to visit several farmers markets in the area. This one has great vendors, currently it is relocated because of road construction. We were able to get a bag full of nutritious finds!

Yelp
It's been said that, to understand a people's culture, the best place to start is with the food. This market gives the visitor excellent opportunities to get a taste of the world. From Belgian fries to San Diego's best Indian food at Masala Cottage to Cuban sandwiches (my fave) to a culinary tour of Asia, there are SO many choices! There are tons of local farms representes - big and small and specialty (like mushroom farmers). Lots of cool things to see, taste, and smell - and learn! There's also specialty purveyors, like True Pet Kitchens, who offer CBD-type treats and tinctures for your fur baby. We especially appreciate them because the hemp oil has done wonders for our Maltipoo. This market is a must try for everyone - locals and tourists alike!

Yelp
This market was awesome ! A little crowded but awesome ! So many vendors and great food.

Yelp
Dimashq baklva is a ripoff. They are dry and tasteless. Very disappoining. Do not recommend.

Yelp
Every Sunday starting at 9am, a collective of vendors set up their stands/booths to showcase their foods, products, crafts and or talent. Located on Normal street in the Hillcrest area of San Diego. Parking is a challenge but possible even if have to park a block or two away. Have been coming here for about 6 months, during my extended stay in San Diego. Initially, there were signs prohibiting dogs. Of course, service dogs are allowed so my pup Fendi is allowed. My usual picks include fresh flowers, some fruits, herbs and occasionally something like hand crafted accessories for Fendi or myself. There are lots of food vendors which you get to see preparing foods. Sadly not all of these food preparers practice cleanliness: hands not so clean and NOT wearing gloves. Some people don't care, but I do, and when I witness unsanitary things, it's a turn off and makes me loose my appetite. I don't always make a purchase, but enjoy the stroll with my pup Fendi to see the colorful sights and sounds. Many more music performers are showcasing their talents and it's fun to see and hear music which adds to the atmosphere and shopping at this Hillcrest farmer's market. Recommend!

Yelp
I love the farmers markets in SoCal so much since they always have such a great selection. This one was already bustling with vendors and customers at 8:30am this past Sunday. There are plenty of food choices, from breads and pastries, coffees, fresh juices, beef jerkies, tamales to booths selling fruit and vegetables, fresh flowers, salsas, and so much more. We bought some cool t-shirts from Urban Octopus and had a great conversation with the owner. If you're looking for a fun and tasty way to spend a Sunday morning, stop by Hillcrest Farmer's Market.

Yelp
Just keeps getting better! Love the extension now onto University! It's allowed me to stroll past many stores I normally don't have the time for. I discovered some new reads at the used book store. Also, I love the new cocktail tables along University. Happily all my favorites are still there- so I can get my supply of teas and spinach parathas.
google avatar

Brian I.

Yelp
The Hillcrest Farmers Market is so much bigger than I remember, so it's great! It took up a lot of University Ave., and there were so many vendors and food options. It kept us busy on our way back to Los Angeles.

Yelp
I love the Hillcrest Farmers Market! Since moving to the area, I've been coming every Sunday for the past six months, and it's become one of my favorite weekly routines. The vendors are so sweet, and many of them even recognize me now because I go so often. I always do my produce shopping here, and it never disappoints. I appreciate that this market has more produce vendors than fast food vendors, which is exactly what I look for in a farmers market. I also love coming first thing in the morning--it's such a great way to start the day. Since the market moved locations, it's been a little weird adjusting to the new setup, but it's just a block over and not a huge deal. I've been to every farmers market in San Diego (yes, every single one), and as someone who actually shops for produce at farmers markets, this is my favorite--right next to the La Jolla market. Highly recommend!

Yelp
My favorite farmers market to go to in SD! My husband and mother in law love coming out here every month or so. Friendly vibes and good atmosphere! Standouts that we regularly buy stuff from: -Grammy's Granola -Jee Sauce (very new) -the fruit stand that gives the most samples to try -plant booths -flower booths Pros: -variety of hot and fresh ready to made food booths -a lot of fruit booths -a couple of plant booths -Porto potty booth stands with sink water and soap Cons:

Yelp
The Hillcrest Farmer's Market is a beloved and essential part of the community. Hours are Sundays from 9am - 2pm. Like most farmer's markets, it features a variety of vendors offering organic produce, flowers, prepared foods, coffee, baked goods, and a range of handmade clothing and other items. I appreciate that the food vendors come from diverse regions around the globe, including Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and Latin America. The former location on Normal Street is being transformed into a park and promenade, which means it will remain closed until the end of 2025. I always look forward to visiting the market and was pleasantly surprised by how much the move from Normal Street to University Avenue has enhanced the experience. The additional space allows for a more leisurely stroll, making everyone feel more comfortable and relaxed. However, it's important to note that University Avenue from Park Boulevard to Normal Street is closed all day until about 5 PM, so cars and buses are being redirected to side streets like Robinson, so expect some detours. Plenty of parking is available at the DMV on Normal.
google avatar

Lorraine M.

Yelp
The variety of options and lively atmosphere make this farmers market unmatched to others in the area. So many different things to choose from including multiple flower vendors, fresh produce, fresh eggs and meats, prepared foods for lunch, baked goods, plants, and handmade gifts. Let's not forget about the different live music options across the market! Such a great way to spend Sunday mornings and stock up on local items for the week.

Yelp
Came here on a Sunday early afternoon. It was packed and parking was a nightmare. Ended up parking about 10 minute walk away. But the market made up for it. There were a ton of vendors there and I ended up stopping at two of them in particular to browse their products. If you take your time and engage you could easily spend over a hour there. The energy in the place was electric. People were buzzing. The smell of good food was in the air. There were dogs walking about and children enjoying the sights and sounds. Because it is packed it can be hard to navigate. You'll bump into a lot of people for sure. Only other downside is that there were more food vendors than I would have loved to see. A couple is great but I want to see more products. 4 stars because it was a lovely way to spend a hour and for how big it was.
google avatar

Tim H.

Yelp
This was a fantastic market! The people make it, since if feels like a good crowd that feels very comfortable. I liked that dogs were allowed, since some markets don't let them in. The food choices are more abundant than other markets I've attended, and they still have a nice selection of vendors. But, the food options are the reason to go, so least for me. I had a tri-tip sandwich that was amazing. Parking in the area is easy and it's close to many other cool shops on the street.
google avatar

Kylie P.

Yelp
One of my favorite Sunday morning activities. Produce is great quality and a nice mix of other artisan vendors too. I can always find something of interest & find myself returning week after week! Go earlier to avoid crowds.

Yelp
I LOVE THE SOAP and lotion bars at PER DIEM! I love how the ingredients are natural, good for Earth and for my skin. I've been using their products for a while now and have seen great results. I have dry skin so it's hard for me finding something that is good for Earth as well as nourishing. I stopped having chapped lips after using their product for my lips :) thank you!

Yelp
Can't believe I haven't reviewed the Hillcrest Farmer's Market yet. I come here a lot and I like the variety of booths they have. Some of my favorites are Saigon Coffee (Vietnamese Coffee), the bakery that sells a lot of scones, Coco Bomb (coconut/mango desserts and Thai tea), the stand with the coconut pancakes, the Belgian fries stand, and the grilled oysters at the seafood stand. The vendors are friendly, and there are a lot of super cute dogs. The only reason it doesn't get a full 5 stars is because the food and produce cost a pretty penny.
google avatar

Jamie Z.

Yelp
The absolute best farmers market in SD!! From the aromas of all of the yummy food choices to eat on side, to the amazing options of seafood, fruits, vegetables, nuts and more, you will not be disappointed coming here on a Sunday morning. Bring your reusable bags, backpacks or some even had wagons trailing behind them as they walked through to get their weekly treats. The service at each place we visited along our walk through farmers market happiness was wonderful. Vendors were kind and interested in helping you try their delicious offerings.
google avatar

Kiley J.

Yelp
So much good food and a couple of love performances here. Had the best tasting kefir soda from here EVER. A ton of dogs, a couple of handmade jewelry vendor folks, too. Coolest wave art I've seen in a awhile, and a chiro adjusting the community lol
google avatar

Carly M.

Yelp
I love farmer's markets and this one didn't disappoint. There's free parking at the California DMV at Normal street and Lincoln Ave, Unified San Deigo school district at Campus Ave and Washington Street and the USPS on Cleveland street. We got to the DMV parking lot at 9:10 am and it was pretty much full already. We did get a spot. It's like a few feet away from the FM. There's plenty of food vendors, vegetables , fruits , and locally made products. I love the vibe ! It's so interesting to me to see brands that start at the grass roots. We got a lot of vegetables, fruits, some t-shirts, almond milk, old library books. There was even a booth that had Korean fruits and vegetables. We really enjoyed it ! Would recommend if you like certified organic, local products and supporting made in the USA. Everyone we encountered was nice and helpful.
google avatar

Anthony T.

Yelp
Open every Sunday from 8am to 2pm! Parking can be tricky, but the entire DMV parking lot that the Farmers market is located right next to is open, helping with the limited street parking. This is a fun way to spend some time on a Sunday morning or afternoon to people watch, grab coffee, sample the selections, walk around, grab some lunch or bring your fur pets to interact with others. Service from all vendors was good, everyone is friendly and helpful, I've never experienced anyone rude. One of my favorite to always visit is Seb's Paninis. Kind of expensive for a sandwich, but expected at places like these. Support your local small businesses, highly recommend you check it out!!
google avatar

Yelp
My friend and I went again yesterday about an hour before closing. I think that's the perfect time to go unless you're going for the fresh produces and breads (they will run out!!) She got a lychee and passionfruit lemonade which was absolutely delightful. Refreshing, strong lychee flavor without being artificial, and real passionfruit pulp in it. I went to the Saigon Coffee stand got myself a medium $5 Vietnamese Coffee. They gave me a good amount of ice and coffee. Strong but delicious. Sadly no toppings at the Hillcrest Farmers market, but it's 100% understandable because you need those toppings to be refrigerated and not in an ice chest! The owner I think was at the stand, very kind! Everyone was really nice here. There weren't too many dogs at the time we went which is really nice because we want the focus on the Farmers Market and not about: "is this dog nice, I hope I don't step on anyone's paw or tail, oh god a dog fight is about to go down"!

Yelp
Happy SUNNY Sunday February 3rd 2025 and it's a great day in San Diego temperature is 67°. Just a heads up on the new area for the Farmers Market here. It has been switched from the area of Normal St./DMV to Park/ University and Herbert St. I found it to the actually overwhelming at 11:00 a.m. as the crowd was larger than I had ever seen it and happy that they weren't that many dogs taking up human space. No offense to dog lovers out there but, keep your dogs at home not at the market please thank you. I was so surprised to see so many food vendors and I spoke with one of the Information Specialist there Mark Larson who said that there were always that many that, maybe because they were all spaced out and look like more. Okay,DK. Anywho, searching desperately for my egg man and unfortunately all the eggs have been sold out. This Market is now only open from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. All I can say is always be nice to your egg man Bob. ; ). I asked him if he could save me some eggs for next Sunday and he was so kind to say yes. I gave him my little green bag with my recycled six egg carton and said " I'll be back!" I told him my name was Poppy so he would remember. It's a name that people do repeat and they do remember. Very interesting..

Deanne L.

Yelp
Love the size of this one. Many different types of vendors to support, like food and drinks from all type of cultures, fresh produce and flowers, art, and more. I visited recently during the holiday season was pretty busy but happy I scored some street parking nearby. Tried some fresh pastries, some samosas, and even found a cute lil pink poinsettia. You'll def find something for you here and everybody's so friendly
google avatar

David K.

Yelp
If you are going to attend any San Diego's Farmers Market - this THE one. You have everything from pup treats to street eats with everything inbetween - jewelry, bowls, breads, sheets - you can find just a little bit of everything. Plus - very pup friendly!

Yelp
I was seriously blown away of how huge this farmers market is. So many furbabies, vendors, people but it wasn't crazy hectic. Free parking lot along with street parking. The parking god blessed us with a parking spot right when we got there, but I can see how it can be difficult at prime hours. Baba food's pita chips with their kitchen sink dip is amazing. I really wished they sold at a farmers market in LA too. There was also a vendor who sold nothing but micro greens, delicious salad topper. 2 new things I need to look for over here. Can't wait to have Sunday funday with my cousin at the farmers market again!
google avatar

Yelp
Love this place. Hangry Louie's has some amazing food. I had there burger and breakfast burrito with bacon. 10/10. Great big market. Also another place to try is sticky rice next to them
google avatar

Maddie T.

Yelp
Nice market with lots of variety. Ton of food choices. However, the price of everything was fairly high. It wouldn't be a weekly shopping type thing, more of once in awhile go for a stroll and pick up something as a splurge.
google avatar

Leslie S.

Yelp
Super dog friendly! We love coming here with our dog. Be ready to see the cutest pups walking around. It does get crowded so we bring our dog on a sling. I think they recently added more vendors. Lots of food options! They have a small sitting area where you can eat. There's different plant and flower vendors. Some farms have CSAs and many offer samples. Parking is always a little challenging to find, but we always find a spot at the DMV parking lot located right next door. Everyone is so friendly. A handful of music performers. It's a vibe here Sunday mornings!
google avatar

Reza E.

Yelp
One thing I've noticed in San Diego farmers markets compared to the Bay Area is the focus on food vendors rather than produce farmers and Hillcrest is no exception. Nevertheless I found enough options to buy some great produce. It's a pretty big market, not as big as little Italy, and that's actually a good thing in my opinion.
google avatar

Judy T.

Yelp
The assortment of food and fresh produce was excellent! Great location! I happened to be visiting and wanted to visit a farmers market while I was there.
google avatar

Dayna G.

Yelp
So many good food and drink options! We luckily came here with empty stomachs and were not disappointed. Get a snickerdoodle from Maya's cookies (and they're vegan!), a salty lemonade, and a savory crepe and you are good to go and peruse! There were so many beautiful fruit and veg options to choose from, and we also treated ourselves to some fancy butters (the chive and garlic one is our go-to but we can't wait to try the chipotle honey one). We stayed for about 1.5 hours but could have stayed longer if there were better seating options for eating. We'll definitely be back, and next time with try a matcha latte and maybe one of the hashbrown sandwiches..
google avatar

Paris O.

Yelp
You'll always find something amazing to snack on and eat when you're here. I highly recommend getting the Vietnamese coffee. All of the vendors are very friendly and informative of their products. Of course, in the heart of Hillcrest, you'll see rainbow flags everywhere and the entire community showing off their pride. There's plenty of music and the streets are kept very clean, as well. It's always very comforting and fun every Sunday we come here!
google avatar

Luis R P.

Yelp
Great large farmers market in the middle of Hillcrest every Sunday morning. Many food and produce options as well as local crafts. Great staff in the stands. Music and entertainers often on the corners giving it a great lively ambiance.
google avatar

Jessica G.

Yelp
This might be one of the best farmers markets I've ever been to! On a recent trip to San Diego from the Bay Area, we were looking for something to do to kill some time while also checking out some local eats. This farmers market is HUGE! I'm amazed that so many vendors come together like this regularly. They've got everything here: hot food stands, produce, locally made sauces, bakery treats, drinks, shopping, even the poet who'll write you a poem on his typewriter on the spot! You can spend a good hour or more here just browsing. The most difficult part is the parking, but if you circle around a bit and are down to walk a block or two, you'll find parking eventually. If I lived here, I definitely would be here every week!
google avatar

Kristelle B.

Yelp
This is our second time visiting Hillcrest Farmers Market which I believe is only open on Sunday mornings. It was still during covid the last time we were here so we were surprised to see how much livelier this place is during normal times. Parking can get tough as it does get busy and the nearby area is residential (not sure if you can park in the DMV next to it.) I would say this is one of the better farmers markets in San Diego for they have a good selection of food to choose from! We got the huge samosa from an Indian stall and it was absolutely delicious (you can catch them in other farmers markets as well and I've always liked their samosas.) I also got a cardamom knot from a pastry vendor which was sadly too sour for my liking. I would've wanted the taste of cardamom to be stronger. Overall, love the vibes here and the variety. Prices can get steep but I think that's common for farmers markets. Would go back to try the stuffed hash brown and the Viet iced coffee stalls!
google avatar

Sherene H.

Yelp
Best farmers market in San Diego! I've been to the little Italy farmers market and it was a mini version of hillcrest. There's so many vendors! I definitely would come back for the vegan chocolates and all the fresh produce. Also there was an amazing chocolate almond croissant to die for!
google avatar

Dieu H.

Yelp
I've been to this one in downtown near the park Blvd where there is tons of people and is quite a pretty large farmers market . They have tents and great parking. Is a bit pricey sometimes you could bring 50-100 dollars for the one in Hillcrest. They have live bands and farm fresh produce from San Diego farmers. The best farmers barker has pets for sale and fish also from the sea. I only go here once in a while. It's great for kids and adults as well. There's tons of freebies and it's like a farmers street festival fair. I'd bring a Sunday only happens on weeks that matter.
google avatar

John C.

Yelp
Another large and fun farmer's market and not sure if this is bigger than Little Italy farmer's market or not. Spacious vendor booths on both sides and the expected inexorable parking. :-) Always some awesome cute dogs being walked by their owners every Sunday. No complaints at this market except for them needing a few tables setup all over to enjoy the expensive prepared foods. My go-to every Sunday.

Yelp
Walking over to the Hillcrest Farmers Market on Sunday's may be my new favorite thing to do. My boyfriend and I have always wanted to check it out and we finally made our way over there. There is so much to see and purchase including some incredible smelling food of all different cuisines. We ate before hand not thinking clearly haha and we definitely wont do that again because we wanted to try so many things! That weekend we really didn't need too many groceries but we were able to find a ton of fresh veggies and fruit and eggs and so much more. I love being able to support locally owned businesses and being able to get fresh food for the kitchen is always a plus. This is a busy farmers market but 100% worth. We will be going more often since we live so close!
google avatar

Yosh C.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite farmer's markets that I have been to! The variety of products that can be purchased here is amazing! There are a ton of food vendors to eat delicious food, snacks, produce, drinks, plants, products, jewelry, and so much more~ Anything that you would want or need can be found here. The size is also perfect! Not too big, where you feel like it is endless, but not too small where there is not much to browse and look at. Parking is a little difficult, but it is worth walking a little bit to get to this market~
google avatar

Stacie M.

Yelp
Love this farmers market! It's one of the bigger ones in SD. Plenty of fresh fruits and veggies, breads, bakery items, dips and hummus, flowers and plants! And then lots of coffee, kombucha, green juices. And clothing and jewelry and hats! It has so many vendors just give yourself time to get a little lost in it all! I always find street parking but you'll have to search a little (and be willing to walk a little).
google avatar

Dani S.

Yelp
Cool place to spend a couple hours on Sunday afternoon. Been to the farmers market a couple of times in the last year and it's kind of fun to browse and check out all the street vendors. The food vendors are on one section of the market, and there's a lot of choices for food if your hungry. The vegetable and fruit vendors are in one section of the market and they have a lot of interesting crops, and very fresh produce. The prices are rather expensive, but you're getting small batch production. Dog friendly, so you can bring your four-legged friends with you. Parking is super hard to find so I suggest either taking a scooter, riding in with a bicycle, or walking,

Yelp
I absolutely love going to the Hillcrest Farmers Market every Sunday! The first thing I do when I get there is head straight to the Saigon coffee stand. Their Vietnamese coffee is simply amazing! It's sweet and gives me the perfect amount of energy without the jitters. I always make sure to get the same things every time I'm there, like the salty lemonade and samosas with chicken masala. The grilled oysters and Flavors of East Africa's spicy chicken are also some of my favorites! The market is a great place to grab fresh produce, eggs, pasta, and kombucha. Everyone there is always so friendly and chill. I love how they always have great musicians and bands playing too. It's one of my favorite things to do in San Diego and Hillcrest.

I'm not the hugest farmers market fan but I'm always hearing about how great they are in CA - so when we were visiting SD for a long weekend, we planned to hit up a market on Sunday morning before the drive back home to Vegas. The Hillcrest FM is one of the few Sunday options and it was on our way. The location was easy to find and plenty of parking was available at the nearby Post Office parking lot. I really liked how many different vendors were here, and the variety of products. There were five or six actual farm stands with produce, two or three with flowers, a couple with houseplants (so hard to resist!), and lots more with locally made artisan products (clothing, jewelry, art) or foods (baked goods, food trucks, even smoked salmon). We enjoyed browsing the many options and made a few purchases - if you're looking specifically for organic or pesticide free produce, your options are limited. I also thought pricing was a bit higher than I would have expected and not really competitive with typical grocery prices despite cutting out the middle man. For the most part, it was a pleasant experience and the vendors were friendly. Most had clear posted pricing and the majority do charge a card fee, so grab cash if you can. I did not like that a few businesses did not have clear pricing - I didn't come here to haggle. As with any market, the earlier you go, the better selection you'll find. The pickle guy was sold out of a few items before 10AM, which was really surprising!
