⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Hillman Beer – Biltmore Village We had lunch and local beer in Biltmore Village and really enjoyed our visit. It’s sad to see that the village still has many places closed after the 2024 floods — very heartbreaking — but Hillman Beer was a bright spot. I had a burger with a kale salad, and it was really good. The salad was especially great — truly healthy and just the way I like it. My husband had the turkey Reuben with chips and loved it. The beers were cold and very good. Everyone was happy, welcoming, and super friendly. A great place to support while visiting the area.

We drove 2.5 hours to get to Asheville and after reading through all the options, we landed at Hillman's to start our adventure. It was exactly what we wanted. Super good atmosphere, really good food and super good beer! We had the Octoberfest, Hazy IPA and the IPA and all three quinched the thirst! There is plenty of seating in the front, but the back with the picnic tables was were we chose to enjoy our food and drink. Dogs are allowed and many were with the human friends during our time there on a Wednesday afternoon. Will certainly return!

Loves the service and the beer. The wings and burger were quite good as well! I'm a bit picky about my burger buns and these were top notch. I feel like the burger could have been a little thicker or the bun a little smaller but all in all it was a pretty great flavor mixture

What a great place, especially if you have a dog. Burger was awesome, turkey Ruben had have carved turkey!! A little light on the dressing but good overall. IPA was delish and the ginger beer was also very good.

Oh this place is a gem! Our team came out upon recommendation to Hillman’s and we weren’t disappointed. Great selection beer that folks enjoyed….. but the food was SO DELICIOUS. The chicken sandwhich was fabulous. Nice crispy breading with succulent chicken…so much better than expected. I unfortunately devoured it before I took a photo. But wife ordered the sourdough grilled cheese. It has spinach, Swiss cheese, & tomato. She loved it. Kids got hamburger and bread pudding. Everyone enjoyed their meals! Fries and chips were homemade too! Lot’s of seating for big groups. Plenty of shaded seats outside. In the back of the building there is seating next to a stream for a quieter, relaxed spot to enjoy beverages and food.

Hillman Beer on Sweeten Creek Road in Asheville is one of our favorite places to stop in whenever we're visiting Western North Carolina. The atmosphere is casual and inviting (and dog friendly!), the staff are very friendly, the beer selection is great, and the food is fantastic. Our most recent visit was on a Wednesday. Hubby enjoyed the Wednesday Burger Special (burger, choice of side, choice of beer) and I had the Rice Bowl with grilled chicken. As usual, everything was great. So glad they were able to re-open after Hurricane Helene. Stop in and support this great local business!

Great menu here for food, this place got super packed for trivia! We sat down for dinner around 6 and ordered the pork rinds which were exceptional. Light dust of old bay was perfect. The seltzer and light beers were perfect for our crowd. We got the falafel wrap and roasted turkey wrap. Both good, but we all felt the sauces needed to be better distributed throughout the wraps because they felt a little dry. The fries were amazing.

A great place for well-crafted food and beer. Friendly staff, indoor & outdoor seating with plenty of space. The babbling stream out back is a nice backdrop for a hearty meal. Be sure to try the fries as they are some of the best pub fries I have had...

My wife and I visited Hillman Beer for the first time on our arrival from Wisconsin and we were very pleased with the overall experience. We had the pleasure of having Allison as our server and she did a wonderjob. Very pleasant to work with, attentive to our needs and helpful with recommendations for food and beverage options. Well done Allison! Emily and Katelyn also provided good service! The food was very good, arrived in a very timely manner and good size portions. Hillman has great food, drinks, and ambiance. They have the perfect set up for both indoor and outdoor seating. We choose to sit where we could see the creek and enjoy the outdoor setting. I loved how many different beers they had, and the food was good too! I would suggest getting the burger and fries over the rice bowl, and the pimiento cheese was delicious!

Met a co worker for lunch. We were greeted by a very bubbly person , Emily who made us feel so welcome. She was a very attentive and made sure we were not rushed. It was sunny but very windy so we sat inside. You order at the bar and they will bring your food out to you. Of course we each had a beer both tasty. fFor lunch I had the club sandwich and my friend had the chicken sandwich both came with homemade chips. Both meals were also good and tasty. Forgot to take pics of food Definitely recommend this brewery. We will return.

Was recommended by a staff member at Biltmore. Did not disappoint. Ordered a flight and Cuban sandwich. Excellent beer. Fantastic sandwich. Sat outside. Peaceful next to the water. Even got to pet a dog! Win win. Everything I was hoping for.

Super cool brewery that also serves delicious food. They have a large indoor tasting room as well as a nice outdoor patio. The beer was very tasty, I had an IPA that was true to the style and very good. I had the rice bowl with mojo pork. Open until 10 or 11pm.

Hillman was a highlight of our time in Asheville! The Hill and Oats I had was tasty, but the food was almost more impressive! It's not common to find a brewery that can nail beer AND food, but they certainly did! We ordered the Buffalo and Falafel wraps and they were delicious!! Service was very kind! And atmosphere was chill! Great space for dogs too!

Came here for Fathers Day. Not too crowded. Great beer, great food, great atmosphere. Burgers were juicy and flavorful, highly recommend the kale salad substitute - it was DELICIOUS. Chips seemed to be homemade. Quick and friendly service (order at bar but they bring your food to your table).

Hillman is a nice neighborhood bar on the outskirts of Biltmore Village and just far enough away from the main gate of the Biltmore Estate to keep most tourists away. There is lots of outdoor seating (and indoor) and one of the most dog-friendly breweries in the area. We usually go for beers but the food menu is also good. Tonight, we had the smash burger and fries, and the kale salad with fried chicken. Both were good and filling. We also enjoyed the Thursday night beer special (Saison), the Oktoberfest and my favorite, Mama Bear. Bar service can be a bit slow if there's a crowd as there was on this night and we didn't realize until a bit later that it was trivia night. Kudos to the staff for walking around with a handheld device to replenish food and drink and close out tabs.

Ooooooo my. Loving this spot. Let's gooooo. Absolutely adore this space- live the window and open feel. Hybrid warehouse and restaurant feel. It's clean and crisp but welcoming. Nice outdoor seating for the warm months. Nate is a super star- he was our server and he was great. Seemed pumped to help us and generally to be working there. The kale salad was delish but would have been missing something without protein. Luckily for me they have a ton of veggie options. The falafel was pretty fried but in a oh that's good way. Tasted homemade. The salad itself was very flavorful and felt super healthy. I think their beers are only ok but lots of competition around these parts.

Great beer, great food, and great service. What are you waiting for? Get going! My wife and I stopped in for lunch, and were pleasantly surprised. The bartender provided some great suggestions on what to sample in my flight. We each got the grilled cheese sandwich... don't know it until you try it. It was great, and comes with the house made chips. Every staff member that we saw was friendly and polite.

This is a cute creekside brewery with a small, but good, selection of beers. They gave a large patio in the front, a small indoor area and a quiet spot in the back next to the creek. After ordering at the bar, just pick a table depending on your mood & chill whilst drinking your brew.

Great beer, super chill atmosphere, and great food! Tried the bbq burger with a veggie patty and it was delicious, and the fries were fresh and crispy too. Their house-made pickles on the side were awesome. Also had the pretzel with beer cheese and it was delicious. Highly recommend this spot!

First time here. Was here on vac and some of the group likes beer so we met up here for lunch and drinks. I'm not a beer drinker so can't tell you anything about it but the others said it was good. Nice place , lots of room inside and large outdoor area . The food was good and enjoyed being there.

We (party of 6) stopped by for lunch. None of us were disappointed. Great atmosphere, food, drinks and staff. Lacey was the BEST helped with drink choices, very friendly and very knowledgeable. We will be back our next time in Asheville.

Good food. Great service. Wide open space. Picnic tables allowed us to enjoy our beverages in the sun under sail-like shades.

We visited the Biltmore Village location. Very nice location. Extremely friendly and hard working staff. The beer was phenomenal, the food was equally great. I'll be back next year when I come back to hike in the area. Mike from Michigan

I heard their Reuben was good so got it for lunch yesterday. Let me say that all staff were amazing, accommodating and super friendly. Good beer choices also...Unfortunately the Reuben meat tasted a little off, fat wasn't trimmed from edges and I've been sick today with stomach cramps. So doubtful I will be back.

Still one of my favorite Asheville breweries. To sit at a picnic table by the creek with a full glass and a full plate is to know peace and serenity. I drank the ESB and Hefeweizen today. The fried chicken sandwich is sublime. My wife enjoyed the falafel wrap. Time passed slowly and I left younger than when I arrived.

Good ambiance, bad beer. I had a flight and each beer was subpar. Too many good breweries in Asheville to drink here. Didn't try the food. Coffee nitro stout was best beer I had. They need to up their brewing game to compete.

Come for the beer, stay for the incredible food and heartwarming service! We checked out a LOT of breweries in Asheville this past weekend and Hillman is a front-runner for the favorite spot. They offer plenty of on-site parking and there is more space available just across the street. It is one of the few breweries in Asheville that you won't have to pay for close parking! There is plenty of outdoor picnic bench seating and the large garage doors on the brewery were wide open from front to back making the whole place inviting to 2-legged and 4-legged visitors. It sits right on the creek and that offers some nice, relaxing views while you enjoy a brew! We opted to order food before drinks and I had a tough time deciding. We chose the House Salad bowl with tempeh and Rice Bowl with falafel. Both were HUGE portions, with fresh and super flavorful ingredients. There was staff constantly delivering food to tables and everything looked amazing - especially the burgers. Their beer options also had me salivating. They have something for every taste, including wine. I selected a flight and wasn't disappointed. We were most impressed that the staff was constantly interacting with patrons and asking how they could be of service. Southern hospitality at its finest. We will surely return!

Hillman was definitely a favorite brewery of ours on our recent visit. The beers were excellent and the service was fantastic. The brewery itself was great inside and out with tons of seating. We had a few beers there, the porter was my personal favorite and I would say make sure and the get the pretzels with your beer(s)...the mustard served with it was spicy but oh so good. I will be back when I come here again.

First visit- and will be back as soon possible, We just kinda stumbled in while shopping in Asheville- For starters they have a decent parking lot- the tap room is large, for warmer weather they have ample outdoor seating- A lot of families were here around dinner time with their smaller kids- but it didn't really matter. They serve bar type food- nothing special, but priced ok and looked good enough...but we were here for the beer. The Beer is brewed here- and is off the charts- we tried a few different things but the one I will come back for is called Hill and Oates. Cute name- outstanding beer- Just go here-

Was visiting Asheville for a few days and another brewery recommended Hillman for dinner. Went that night and had the burger and the club sandwich. The hubby said the burger was in of the best he's ever had. The club was amazing, so large i couldn't eat it all, took half back to the hotel for lunch the next day. I'm not a fan of pickles. But I couldn't stop eating the special pickles, they were so good! Everything was so good we came back the next day for dinner and beer. This time we had the Spinach Artichoke dip (the feta cheese was a welcome change) and split the club. Again amazing! I'm not a big beer drinker so I opted for an NA beer and hubby had the Dagnabit. Both were really good. Planning on coming back to Asheville in the spring and will definitely be back to Hillmen!

My mother was turning 100 years old, and we were looking for a place to have a pre-party with about 20 family members the night before her actual birthday. At the suggestion of my son, we thought about a local brewery because we thought it would be a casual atmosphere that could handle around 20 people easily. The day before the pre-party, I stopped into Hillman Beer at the Biltmore Village location and talked to Taylor and James who both assured me that they would easily handle the crowd, and that they would reserve a "long table" that could seat 20 for us. The next night we arrived and, indeed, Hillman was a great place for us! We got my mother, who uses a walker all the time, up onto a high bar stool with a back, and there she sat all night long visiting with family members, as well as random strangers at the brewery who stopped by when they saw her "100th Birthday" balloon floating near her. The servers were quick and curteous, the beer and food was great, and the general atmosphere was friendly. My mother has now commented multiple times on how wonderful that evening was, and that Hillman was "the perfect place" to have the pre-party! As we were leaving that night, she got a standing ovation from all the people there as she rolled out with her100th birthday balloon floating above her! Many thanks to Taylor for making my mom's 100th birthday special.

We love Hillman! It's our favorite local brewery. The food is good and they have a great selection of beer, as well as some wine and cider for those who don't want beer. We love to go with out of town guests to show them a taste of Asheville. The staff are nice and the environment is inviting. Highly recommend!

We had a nice night at Hillman enjoying their beverages and dinner at a picnic table outside. The food was tasty and we had quick, efficient service!

We love this spot! They have so much room for seating and I love that it is just order at the bar and then seat yourself. Service is always so quick and the food is always delicious! We always start with the pretzel that comes with mustard and beer cheese. I love how creamy the beer cheese is (not that fake gooey/plasticy cheese) and my husbands a huge fan of the mustard (he wishes they sold it to take home haha). This time we tried the turkey wrap and WOW! I was a little skeptical about the beets (even though I'm a fan of beets) since I didn't know how they would taste in a wrap but it was the perfect sweetness for the wrap. We ordered the grilled cheese but since it usually has a bunch of stuff in it we asked for only cheddar since it was for our daughter and they made the change no problem. We of course tried the grilled cheese too and it was so good. The fries are the perfect amount of soft yet still have some crunch. They always have a great variety of beers and their pumpkin, the iffy, is one of my favorites. If you are in town I HIGHLY recommend this place, they have something for everyone!

You have to try the porter! 2nd time here and I have to say, one of my favorite breweries. Their pretzel with beer cheese sauce and Dijon sauce is to die for. The pretzel is soft and buttery. The staff have always been super friendly and welcoming which I always appreciate. You can drink indoors or out. I would definitely recommend this to anyone.

I was shocked at how much I loved Hillman, but I have a feeling this will become a regular stop in the rotation. Casual feel- order both the beer and food at the counter- but they do everything very well. I got the grain bowl with avocado and chicken, added a side of the lime vinaigrette (that's the move) and it was SO good - plus I had enough to have leftover for lunch the next day! My dad got a burger because he was craving one- that's why we first went- and he said it did not disappoint. Many different beer options and even a hard seltzer on tap which was almost like a sour and so very good. Plenty of parking, both indoor and outdoor seating, dog friendly, and great beer and food. Literally everything I could ask for.

Overall I've always liked this place. Well maintained and clean environment. I was disappointed in our food runner who brought our food and then just literally ran away. No, we didn't have napkins, silverware, or condiments but just plop our food down and leave as quick as possible. Maybe that's just the new standard of dining out it seems.

Hillman is now one of our new favorite breweries! They have so many fun, unique beer flavors and an awesome menu. We ordered the Soft Pretzels with Belgian Blonde Beer Cheese (worth the extra cost!), the Fried Buffalo Chicken Wrap and the Fried Chicken Sandwich with spicy mayo and dill pickles. Everything was delicious and worth a repeat visit!

Hillman Beer was recommended by my girlfriend's son who had spent some time in the area. Great recommendation! My girlfriend raved about her patty melt. I had the signature burger. We shared the pimento cheese spread appetizer. Everything was fresh, hot and obviously made with a lot of care. Even the chips were great! Service was as good as the food and very attentive.

It was a rainy day, and most dog-friendly eateries only provide outdoor seating. Thankfully, Hillman Beer has a great indoor-outdoor space, that takes away the separation between inside and outside, and we didn't have to sit outside in the rain with or dog or take our food to go. We were greeted by a friendly staff member, who explained that orders were taken and paid for at the bar, and the food would be brought over to our table when was ready. The kale salad I had was delicious. This was not the kind of brewery food I was expecting and definitely exceeded my expectations. $11 for a decently sized kale salad and an extra $4 for protein/tempeh was more than reasonable. My husband had the patty melt with a side of chips, which tasted just ok to me. You are also free to sub the chips with the kale salad (highly recommended) or fries. The two beers we had were pretty good, and everything is so reasonably priced. I can see why Hillman Beer is such a popular spot even for lunch on a weekday.

Food was bar food and solid. Beer was wonderful. Venue was great with indoor and outdoor shaded seating. People were super helpful, knowledgeable of beer, and so friendly.

Great place on Sweeten creek rd just south of downtown Asheville. Had a flight and following with a couple of their IPAs. They have food and plenty of tables inside and outside. Yes check the place out . Pleasant atmosphere and fun crew.

Beer and football! Love having the college football bowl games on while I enjoy a Kolsch and pretzel. They had a great beer selection and a few bites to curb any hunger pains you may be having. It's hard to find a good Kolsch, but you nailed it!

This is a wonderful neighborhood brewery with extremely friendly staff. The food is great and the beer is very tasty. They have an inside and outside space. One of my favorite breweries in town.

Came here for pub trivia quite a few times, first time or two I went the beer was pretty good, but it progressively got worse. The thing about them is it tastes like their sour bacteria has infected all of their beer, it all has this nasty sour taste to it, it just got bad there the last time I went. The food is pretty good, the kale salad was good, and the rice bowl was pretty good too. Staff is friendly but the beer is just not good.

How did I choose my first brewery in Asheville? The one closest to the hotel. Duh! :P For reference, I am focusing on the place, service, and beer, as I did not have any food. I was impressed with Hillman. A brewery with food, although I did not partake, a great space and good beer. Atmosphere? Hillman is very chill in nature. This is likely because it is not so south slope in nature (see other reviews of breweries). There is plenty of space, both indoors and outdoors. For outdoors, there is a window, so you don't even have to step foot in the place to get a brew and food. Very clean place, with a nice bar, albeit a bit smaller. Staff? Had a great time talking with the manager, who I let pick my flight, and a couple of beertenders. Very friendly. Beer? Also impressive. I won't say the very top of the breweries I tried in Asheville, but a great line up. I had the ESB, the Double Back Assward( double NEIPA), the English Barley Wine, and the Biere de Garde. My two favorites were the double NEIPA and the Biere de Garde. I picked up a Maker's Mark barrel aged porter for an upcoming bottle share. I hope I don't have to explain that pick. :D As I mentioned, I did not try the food. I see some saying the food is the low point, but I have nothing to add. The guy next to me got a burger and it looked and smelled nice. Brioche bun, pimento cheese, and the normal salad accoutrements (they also have cheddar, swiss and blue cheese for cheese options and make their own veggie patties, if you go vegetarian. In summary, a nice place to grab a brew, and maybe something to eat. Definitely far more slow paced than the breweries on the south slope. I would definitely go again.

This was the first brewery that my family and I came to while in Asheville. We loved the experience and that dogs are able to come join you! We loved looking at all of the playful furry pups and we especially loved the pretzel and burgers that we ordered. The service was quick and amazing. We also had great conversations with the family sitting next to us!

Great lunch today, served by Alex. Friendly, fun atmosphere with excellent food and beer. I had the kale salad and it was fresh and tasty -- lots of options on proteins on the salad or without. Alex recommended the Wampa Wit it was just what I was wanting. Busy place with easy parking. I love ALL of the Hillman locations -- Old Fort, Asheville, and now Morganton!!

We stopped by Hillman after our time at Biltmore for a late afternoon bite to eat before a drive back to Charlotte. I got the bowl with chicken and my boyfriend got a club sandwich. Both were very good and came out very quick! The beer selection was also delicious! I had the cider and it wasn't too overly sweet!

I love Hillman! Both the Asheville and Old Fort locations are great. I especially like the atmosphere at Old Fort. Good beer. Good food. I highly recommend the Rice Bowl. Burgers and sandwiches are excellent too!

Very cool spot. Unfortunately the kitchen was closed but there was a food truck. They had a variety of beers. From dark to IPA. I had a brown and a Porter. I liked the Porter very much. The brown had an IPA type finish and I don't like IPA's. They had indoor and outdoor seating but the indoor felt like outside because all the doors were open. It was quite nice. The food truck was very good. Forget the name.
