I felt like a giddy kid upon entering the station, full of diverse food carts right in the heart of lovely downtown Hillsboro! As a Hillsboro resident I'm super excited to see all the new businesses and improvements coming to the downtown area, making it a true destination.
This station is a good concept, with space for at least 20 food carts on either side of the main dining hall which features a bar with draft beer, a Brazilian cafe with coffee and a Mexican stand with agua frescas and fruits. The dining hall is large and spacious with high ceilings and plenty of seating at oversized wooden picnic tables.
I visited at noon for lunch with a friend and tried the cheese bread at Cabana Do Cafe and the Milanesa beef sandwich from the Argentine food truck. Both the service and food were excellent!
Other food options include representation from the following cuisines: Indian, German, Russian, Mexican, Korean, Japanese, & American, with food such as sushi, burritos, poke bowls, bbq, boba, gyros, Philly cheesesteaks, burgers & hot dogs, all things fried... and the list goes on. Plenty of options to choose from!
I had such a good experience that I returned the same evening with my husband so that we could check it out and to see if some of the carts that weren't open during lunch might be open for dinner.
Upon returning around 6pm, parking was a bit of a challenge. We drove around the block twice and ended up parking in the gravel lot next to the station. But the lot is narrow and the entrance/ exit isn't well defined.
The station was busy, full of people, friends and families enjoying each other company, the live music and the women's World Cup which was playing on the large TVs.
Because we were still full from lunch we opted to get desserts from the Brazilian cafe. Service was excellent, seriously just super kind and helpful explaining the offerings and what makes them uniquely Brazilian, and the cakes that we had were really tasty - fresh with amazing flavors. Of the ones we tried (including coconut, chocolate, passion fruit), the key lime was my favorite.
Since the station is so new, there are some kinks to be worked out, just with the overall flow of the property, parking, signage, availability of utensils, napkins and placement of trash stations. I look forward to seeing how the operations improve over time.
