What a great find it. Great variety and friendly local vendors. We found a little bit of everything, bread to elk or honey to seafood or flowers. We will be back

Google
in town visiting family and they suggested breakfast at Gigi's Cafe followed by a short walk to the farmers market. I must say the idea of getting kids involved and interested in their food choices by giving them $2 in market script to spend on fruits and vegetables was genius. My picky 6 and 9 year old both enjoyed picking items they like out. So make sure to take the youngsters to the kids booth first. As other reviewers stated its not super big but the quality of stands made up for it. Im a chef by trade and I really enjoyed the food booths. I left with a few bags of produce for that nights family meal.

Google
Small, quaint farmer's market venue in school parking lot. Easy to park, good variety of products given its small nature. I wouldn't drive to it if you're not in the area but services the local neighborhoods well.

Google
an adorable little farmers market tucked away in the community of hillsdale. we purchased all of our spring/summer garden plants from the market, which has a lovely selection of local vendors. the plants were healthy and are currently taking over our back yard! :) pictured is a crepe from the wonderful food truck Crepe Around Town, which visits often if not every weekend of the market.

Google
Great little Farmer's Market. There is all kinds of artisnal foods as well. Specialty Ravioli, Flash Frozen Fish, Delicious Granola.

Google
Great market, friendly staff and LOTS of great vendors. From fruits and veg, to mushrooms and meat, honey and bread, there are just enough vendors that you can get everything on your shopping list without having to deal with crowds like at some weekend farmers markets It does get rather windy on the top of the hill there, so dress accordingly

Google
Gotta go check it out... Some of the best food from the Willamette valley... Great veggies from Mora Mora farm and rad Pork and chicken from Red Bird Acres

Google
Always great place to get produce, bread ,fish, meat and pastry

Yelp
This is my favorite farmers market - not too big, but with all the vendors I could wish for...

Yelp
Solid weekend farmers market with lots of fresh produce, tables with shade for eating, decent parking availability, and port-a-potties. Not a ton of hot food vendors, but they've got Twisted Croissant, so what more could you want? Definitely smaller than PSU, and more of a place to get fresh groceries rather than a date spot or excursion, but there is a playground nearby for kids.
google avatar

Bradley J.

Yelp
Great selection of vendors but very overpriced. I liked the vendor that made a wide selection of breads.
google avatar

Yelp
8:57AM ""You can't come in here, we're not open." "I just want to see what the vendors have." "You'll have to wait in the waiting area over here." "What are those people doing in there?"" "They have early entry." "I've never heard of that. What is that?" "You pay $25 a year and you can get in at 8:45." "Bye." Caveat emptor.

Yelp
Located in the Rieke Elementary parking lot ,this is a year round farmers market and since its not as big as the other Farmers market around town I honestly did not find much variety . There was more of the same things at most of the vendors . I was looking to find some good produce which I did but there wasn't variety I was looking for .Product selection included vegetables, fruits, meats, cheeses, honey, baked goods, specialty, and ready-to-eat foods. I drove all the way to get some fresh produce so I was personally a little disappointed by the variety but I think my expectations might be higher based on the other farmers market I frequent .

Yelp
This little farmers market is amazing. It has enough diverse offerings to cover all of the things you want and need from a farmers market, but it's also small enough to be manageable. I prefer it to the too big PSU market downtown. Now that we're all dealing with COVID, the market has changed to provide safety measures. There's a limit to the number of people in the market at a given time and there's a one way path through the market. It's honestly pretty nice to have a one way path because it feels less chaotic. Sadly, there's no more music or vendors selling food to eat on-site, but I understand it's needed for safety.

Yelp
Great organic produce, meats of various kinds, hand-made crafts and excellent management!

Reggie F.

Yelp
Another buyer beware warning here: Some of these vendors are hard-core capitalists. I bought something from a vendor, High Peak Granola, and the next day I saw the exact same product at Market of Choice (same packaging and volume) for 60% less than they charged me at the market. You read that right, 60%, come here if you want to be charged +60% on products you can find at the store.

Yelp
This year-round farmers market is a great spot to pick up locally grown and created foods. There are plenty of seasonal berries, fruit, and vegetables, meats, jams, seafood, fancy ravioli, beautiful flowers, and always something new to discover. Several vendors are starting to do samples again. There aren't hot-food vendors anymore, but there is a pod of food carts just around the corner with shaded picnic tables (they open at 11am) if you like the shopping-and-lunch thing like I do. When you pull in, there will be a sign to turn left for parking, which is in the long lot (it goes back further than it looks) with a spot to turn around at the end and sidewalks on both sides. There are usually a few wagons at the entrance to borrow but I'd recommend bringing one in case those are not available. There are kids activities at the "POP" booth right at the entrance, very family-friendly atmosphere. It's a bit more laid-back and less crowded than the larger markets, which I love.

Diana A.

Yelp
Very pleasant atmosphere and perfect size with a nice variety of goods. This is a true "farmers" market with lots of fruits, vegetables, milks, breads, honey and even frozen chickens, lamb and beef. If you're looking for more variety like jewelry, arts and crafts, etc. then this isn't the market for you. But to me....this is the kind of farmers I truly enjoy. The only thing we wish they had was a fresh fruit pie stand. With all that produce, it only seemed logical to have pies. They'd sell out fast!!
google avatar

Gabriella W.

Yelp
I love this farmer's market! I was so excited when I recently learned they are open year round! There is so many great options of produce, plants, kombucha and other local products! This farmers market is never as crowded as others I've been to either.
google avatar

Yelp
One of the better Farmer's Markets, many of the vendors seem to make their rounds. There's a Japanese stand that sells delicious tater tots and sweet potato croquettes. I'm torn on a review because they are delicious (the sauces too), but cost $5 for three TINY pieces. I heard another gripe about the price. They rotate a creative drink menu, but again, only one size option for $4.50. So it is, these markets haven't been about value for quite sometime. The owners were very nice. ....and for my favorite burger in Portland (no exaggeration), try Burger Stevens in the food cart pod about 20 yards away.

Yelp
The Hillsdale Farmer's Market is awesome, while i never PLAN a trip here i often find myself here with just enough time before work to poke around. It's true this isn't a huge farmer's market, i would say it is small to medium sized compared to others i have been too. Despite that, you can find almost anything you could want here. Though i think the cast of Booths changes slightly from one week to the next, frequent vendor presences include Fraga Farms Goat Cheese, a wood stove fired bagel stand, Gathering Together Farms, Deep Roots Farm, and a mushroom stand that sells morels, chantrelles, white truffles and sometimes fern fiddleheads depending on what is in season. There are usually cheese vendors, a meat vendor or two, bakery stands, farm stands, orchard stands, and fish stand. You can find jams and salsas, roasted local filberts, pies and tamales. It is really a wide and well rounded variety of food. There are even a few live plant stands for flowers and produce starts. Its a great place to people watch too, you'll see families with cute kids running around, hot Portland hipsters, hippies, old couples, and happy looking dogs. Hillsdale's market is a microcosmic Portlanducopia, if you will.

Yelp
This is the closest farmers market to us and I love it. It's not as crowded and they have good variety of vendors from vegetables, fruits, honey, to bakeries. I also like the fact they have parking lot for this market. No more headaches of trying to find parking like the one in downtown. It's not as big as the one at PSU, but if you are just need to make purchases of your vegetables, fruits, bread, eggs, organic meat, this market will be your best friend. No crowd to fight, no rude moms with strollers, just get in and get out. My kind of place.

Yelp
The Hillsdale Farmer's Market has a nice mix of high quality produce, baked goods, fish and elk, colourful Portlandia locals, and drizzle. It's located at Wilson High School and when it was in full swing last Sunday, parking space was at a premium. Of course, if I lived here, I'd probably walk, bike, or take the bus here.
google avatar

April C.

Yelp
This is a really nice, small market out in Hillsdale, near Wilson High School. Showing up early Sunday morning meant no waiting for tamales from Salvador Molly's and plenty of samples of fresh fruit and vegetables. We bought smoked salmon (worth the money), yellow watermelon, heirloom tomatoes (out of this world), peaches, and plums. We spent a good amount of money but everything was well worth it. The parking is a little funny so go around the back of the school to park along the street or in the small lot next to the market.
google avatar

Brie P.

Yelp
You must go get peaches from braid You must go get smoked salmon Over all selection of fruit/veg is good I knocked off a star cause prices are on par with grocery stores...shouldn't the customer get a break for cutting out the middle man?
google avatar

Jacob G.

Yelp
It's great that there's a farmers' market nearby. Fresh fruits and veggies, oh my. Recent buys: carrots, squash, strawberries, bagels... It's not a big market; it's in a high school parking lot. That's not bad though- makes it easier to decide who to buy from. I just happened to be there on the 4th of July- they were giving out ice cream and berry sundaes! How about them app...er...berries?
google avatar

Jessie G.

Yelp
This farmer's market doesn't allow dogs. Sure, service animals are allowed, but not run of the mill dogs. This makes little sense as it's in the middle of a neighborhood. When I asked why they don't allow dogs I was told it was due to a few "incidents." No details were provided and despite the fact that our dog was clearly well behaved. No exceptions were allowed. All in all, I'll not be shopping here any time soon. There are several other farmer's markets nearby that I'll be happy to wander about with my dog.

Yelp
Open year round!!! From May-November the market is open weekly while December-April it is every other Sunday. Being open year-round sets this market apart from the majority that go into hibernation during winter. Even though the farmer's market is rather small-to-medium-sized, there's quite a variety of vendors. There are places selling nuts, root vegetables, leafy vegetables, fruits, jams, pies, cheeses, eggs, meat (I avoid these booths), vinegar, salsas, vegan soups, flowers, citrus trees, huckleberry bushes, grains, beans and crepes. There's a knife-sharpener who's set up shop in the back of the two rows of vendors. The prices are very reasonable. One vendor has the most delicious apples and pears for 99 cents a pound. Another sells kiwis, 4 for $1. Even if the prices are on par with Whole Foods or New Seasons, the quality is far superior. Kale from the grocery store lasts maybe two days in the fridge whereas the kale I purchased from the market lasted about a week and a half. It also tasted better. As did the kiwis and the carrots and so on. I move around plans in order to come every two weeks in winter when it's open because nothing beats fresh, locally grown veggies. I try to go early (It's open 10-2) because around 11 or noon I hear vendors start to say, "I can't believe I've already sold out of _______." Even though there's still plenty to buy, it is definitely worth getting there as soon as possible. It takes place at a high school so there is plenty of parking, even though it's a little narrow and awkward.

Yelp
The Hillsdale Farmers' Market is like our church. It's the most wonderful place to spend a Sunday morning! We love the community aspect of it (we regularly run into other market-goers week in and week out) and the great selection of vendors. Some favorites are Gathering Together Farm (get there early or they'll sell out!), Tastebud for sandwiches on wood-fired bagels and Savory et Sweet for crepes, both of which usually feature market-fresh veggies and fruit. Keep up the great work, Hillsdale Farmers Market!

Yelp
One of the best things about my recent move to SW PDX was going to this farmers market. Not to terribly large, as others have pointed out, but large enough to get a wide variety of different meats, fruits, vegetables, honey, and mushrooms. There are a few food carts in the market, but not many. Fortunately, you can hit Smaaken for breakfast or grab the wood fired pizza there for lunch. It is in the Wilson HS parking lot, and it can get a bit cramped, but I haven't had an issue getting a spot. The front of the market has tokens that can be purchased with a credit or debit card, and change is given by the vendors in cash. This is convenient, as I don't have to pay a fee and I don't have to rely on the vendors taking a card. The meat selection is pretty good, and my wife and I got a few NY steaks there. Grilled them that night and they were awesome! While I would like to take some credit with my cooking wizardry, it really comes down to the steak being great. I may have to dry age a few and see how those turn out. They are also open year round, so I think there will be many visits by my wife and I to this place. If you are in the SW area of PDX and you don't want to fight the crowds at PSU, this is a nice little stop.

Yelp
By far one of the best farmers markets I've been to. I used to live by PSU and went to that one all the time, but it tends to be crowded and noisy. This one is just lovely. I bought a ton of veggies for a great value and grabbed some breakfast on the go. The only critique I have for this market is that the parking signs aren't clear. But I'm not going to dock stars because of that.

Yelp
I just visited the Farmers Market this weekend and it was A LOT of fun! Although a small farmers market the product and plant selection is fabulous, the atmosphere is totally energetic, and the food vendors are top notch! It's easy to lose yourself for a couple of hours. The farmers market is nestled up against Rieke Elementary School which has a nice grassy knoll which makes it easy to buy some tamales, pizzas or crepes, some drinks and get comfortable on the grass, eat and relax. Now imagine that with a sunny, warm day and its priceless! there are lots of families at the market, and since I have kids I can't help but let them roll down the grassy hill or spending some time at the school's playground. For a neighborhood farmer's market, I wholly recommend it. You can pick up your weeks produce, as well as fresh fish, jams, honey and even meats! Spend an afternoon lounging in the sun, sometimes there's even live music. Generally its a great Sunday morning and/or afternoon!

Yelp
Broad selection of quality produce and meats from local producers, without the "cultural events" that accompany similar markets in Downtown Portland and Overlook Park. The selection is truly seasonal, with the best range of veggies and fruits in early fall and meats in late spring. There are also a few services offered on an infrequent basis, such as blade sharpening by the venerable Ivan the Harrible. If I have one complaint with the market, it's that it's too late in the day for my tastes... what kind of farmer doesn't get going until 10 AM? At that time of day on Sunday during the weeks the market is open, I'm usually out of town enjoying the sunshine and scenery. (The hours probably say more about their customers than the vendors) Note: If you come from the Vermont side, parking is especially easy, while I've found coming in from Hillsdale to be an exceptionally good way to practice your patience.

Yelp
Great variety of fruits, veggies, meats, cheeses, plants, herbs, mushrooms, etc. etc. I was visiting friends nearby and we heard about the big famer's market in Portland that we needed to go to. I heard it was huge and crowded and am SO glad we came to this little market instead. We got everything we needed and it was not crowded at all. There were long lines for some of the vendors (like that blackberry vendor - everyone in line bought whole flats of monster blackberries - yum). I forget the name of the vendor, but we got the biggest, sweetest peaches ever here. Stop by and get some! Of note - service dogs only, can't bring your pets. We had to leave our dog outside, which was no big deal, just be aware. :)

Casey S.

Yelp
Bought some pine mushrooms from SPRINGWATER FARM mushroom stand today 8/14/16 and all but one were rotten and crawling with maggots. For $60/lb you shouldn't be selling maggot filled mushrooms. Wait until the season starts to refrain from ripping people off. Luckily we only bought $10 worth. See pics.
google avatar

Mark M.

Yelp
Low stress parking and a solid group of vendors even late into fall. Clear favorites from an October visit: Mushrooms Apples Saurkraut.
google avatar

Mika D.

Yelp
Love this market and love shopping local. Great fresh fruit and veg, mushrooms and beautiful fresh flowers. The atmosphere is always friendly and the kids enjoy tasting samples at the market and then playing on the climbing frames at the park.
google avatar

Faye F.

Yelp
Good variety of vendors and prices for fresh fruits and produce. They had some meat and savory tents available but the lines were far too long for a couple of them so I skipped. I particularly enjoyed the many fruit vendors and will definitely return!
google avatar

Yelp
What a great service to the neighborhood. It is awesome that this goes year round. There is a good mix of veggies, baked goods, cheeses, meats and cured foods though much smaller than the downtown PSU saturday market. Only a couple of prepared food vendors but there are the food carts around the corner as well. It is great that the school playground is right there fro the kids on a sunny day.

Raj K.

Yelp
Such gorgeous produce . So glad we came here . The asparagus and rhubarb at most vendors was amazing . Bought some blue corn pancake mix which was phenomenal . Loved every vendor . Check it out when you're in Portland

Yelp
We headed to this farmer's market last Sunday, which was the 2nd Sunday of the summer season. There was a very interesting mix of products for sale, and only a few prepared-foods vendors. Ironically, the vendors that looked the most appealing to me were the ones selling perishable foods such as meats & dairy. Unfortunately, both the yogurt booth and the meats booth were very low-stock, and they said that they'd sold out of many things at the Saturday markets they attend. In the case of the meat vendors, they were coming from Bend, so applaud the fact that they didn't burn the gas to make two trips in a weekend (gotta watch that carbon footprint) but it was a bummer that they were out of the very things we were most interested in. This will most likely become our new neighborhood, so we're excited that this market is here. I think we may have to check out the PSU market for better variety, however. I was a bit surprised at how small this market was, and was prepared for major crowds based on other reviews, but we were able to drive up Vermont and easily find a parking spot.

Yelp
Great farmers market w/ friendly vendors. Delicious berries and fun herb choices. They have some "stuff" for sale but a good amount of fruit and veggies, meat, fish and herbs so you don't feel like you are more at a craft fair than a farmers market. Nice low key vibe.

Yelp
why did i find this on my last day in portland? great looking peppers and greens! honestly, i've not seen such gorgeous peppers! beautiful dahlias too. cheap and lucious! i wish i still lived here so i could come all the time. good to know it's here. if only the woman dragging her red wagon through the crowd would have stayed at home! bad crowd etiquette, lady.

Scot M.

Yelp
A great market particularly when berries are in season. Fish vendors and some prepared food vendors tend to be slightly overpriced. A great market particularly when berries are in season. Fish vendors and some prepared food vendors tend to be slightly overpriced.

Yelp
So so good. I'm so happy to live so close to such a wonderful farmer's market. Come join us on a Sunday, you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Just a super experience. The size of the Hillsdale Farmers' Market is just right for a crowd-averse person such as I. It features a great variety of produce, artisan cheeses, wild mushrooms, meats, seafood, flowers, baked goods--the works, but not too big. Just right.

Rex B.

Yelp
Oh Unger Farms, I love your sweet sweet berries and the lively banter from Jesse (?) and the crew, (so much that I get there early to snag a half flat of strawberries and another half flat of mixed berries). And Charlie, (Sun Gold), you are the epitome of a friendly farmer with sage advice and good plants and veggies! The mushrooms, Oh the mushrooms! ..., and the fruit from Baird - where else can you get apricots or peaches that good? And the apples at a nearby booth, what variety and sweet flavors! I hate shopping - but this place almost always makes me smile.

Yelp
We've been going to this market for years and it never disappoints. It's difficult to maneuver through the hordes of people, but it's worth it to have pretty much any fresh ingredient you can think of within reach. I recommend touring the produce stands before buying, as prices do vary widely. The quality of all products is outstanding, vendors are super friendly, and the token program rocks (debit cards only). I highly suggest visiting the Wild Oregon seafood stand, goat cheese vendor, and honey lady. In addition to breads, brownies, bagel sandwiches, sausages, gelato and pesto stands for immediate hunger needs, there are usually a few musical acts for entertainment, including a young boy playing violin and a string band. You can also find a few characters around, such as Luis the poet, who will tell your hubby how to romance you and give you copies of his poetry for $1. Parking is tight and sparse, so I recommend taking the bus or walking.

L G.

Yelp
One of the better farmer's markets in the Portland OR. Great products, nice vendors, good selection. Prices are reasonable, knife sharpening, a good mix of organic produce. in season foods, and other goods (flowers, organic flours, cheese, baked goods, hand-made gifts.

Yelp
Although the Framers Market is a great addition to the Hillsdale District, the increased congestion from cars is a drag. My thoughts on improvements here - http://www.social-cache.com/2008/12/hyper-local-news-and-portlands-hillsdale-district

Yelp
We enjoy the atmosphere. It feels like a European market. Great food and colorful displays.
