Lovely hotel with lovely staff in all areas. Cize bar has a lovely relaxed feel for your evening drinks.Good pool bar and beach bar doing nice food. Food in main hotel restaurant is buffet type but has plenty of choice.|Our only complaint is not to do with the hotel itself, but with TUI. Who we travelled with. We didn’t see a TUI rep at all for any queries, nor did we have a contact number. However, fortunately the hotel staff sorted out any of our queries and needs. Sofia in reception was very helpful I booking a tour for us. Other staff also excellent, unfortunately can’t remember all their names. Marbella who welcomed us to breakfast each morning and Helman who looked after us in pool bar and then again in the Cize bar at night, both are worth a mention for being very attentive and looking after us. Thank you all.

My teenage son and I stayed here for 7 nights and it was far from an enjoyable experience. ||Pros|Spacious rooms|Good housekeeping |Good breakfast choice|Grounds and pool well maintained||Cons|In the 7 nights we stayed we experienced one smile from all the staff we encountered. Staff seem seriously unhappy in their jobs. All seemed indifferent and miserable. At first we thought maybe it was how people were in Cape Verde with it being our first visit here, but venturing outside of the hotel and speaking to guests at other hotels we soon realised that no, this is not case, the staff are just truly miserable. A smile costs nothing. All were efficient, but looked like they hated their job. After witnessing a breakfast team meeting it became evident that these issues are caused by leadership. Do they not realise the impact a miserable team can have on guest experience? I certainly expect more from the Hilton. ||They also have a random credit process where you have to credit your account before booking anything to the room. This was not explained during check in and caused embarrassment on 2 occasions. We have travelled around the world and this is the first time we have experienced this. ||Thankfully we only booked bed and breakfast as our one visit to the restaurant during the evening we saw a congealed buffet style offering with poor choice. We walked around and walked out to hunt for food at other local restaurants. ||One visit to the pool bar and beach restaurant for lunch we were presented with stone cold food and again miserable faces. We didn’t even complain in fear of how the complaint would be received. ||I would NOT recommend this hotel to anyone, not because of the facilities, but the unhappy feeling amongst the staff. ||Management seriously need to review staff attitudes at this hotel. All in all, their miserable attitudes made for a miserable experience.

Our hotel stay was fantastic. Staff were incredible- attentive, friendly, hard working and just amazing. From the chefs, cleaners, receptionists and lifeguards and all in between. Everyone was engaging and integrated with us on our stay. The food was lovely, always replenished and fresh! Lots of variety and nice that my children got to try lots of different and local cuisine. The pool was so clean and fresh, with a shallower part for littler guests. The hotel was right next to the beach and a short walk along the coastal path into santa Maria. We were able to book taxis and excursions through the hotel which suited us- maybe a bit more expensive, but as we had our children with us it felt safe and reliable. Me and my husband had a massage from the spa- the therapists were amazing and the spa was clean and tranquil. Our rooms were cleaned daily and bottled water provided. Everything was perfect for us and we would love to return!!

We first stayed at the Hilton Cabo Verde Sal in May 2023 and loved it so much that we returned in September 2025 for 8 days. Once again, it was an amazing experience from start to finish. The facilities are excellent, with spacious and very quiet rooms that ensure a restful stay. We appreciated the thoughtful amenities, including two bottles of drinking water provided daily — a small but very convenient detail. The gym, open 24 hours a day, was another highlight: it has a wide variety of modern equipment that makes it possible to keep up any kind of training routine, even while on holiday. The beach club is fantastic, with stylish sun umbrellas, comfortable chairs, and breathtaking views of emerald-blue water and soft white sand. The ocean was always at the perfect temperature to refresh us on warm days, and although the island is known for its wind, it only added to the charm, offering a fresh and relaxing breeze. The swimming pool is also remarkable — large, deep enough, and ideal for a relaxing end to the day, whether after hours at the beach or following a tour excursion. Evenings at the restaurant were a delight. The thematic dinners throughout the week offered a wide selection of salads, tropical fruits, and delicious desserts. There were always interesting options of proteins, from fresh fish and chicken to lamb and beef, all accompanied by a great variety of vegetables. We also had the chance to enjoy Chã wine, a unique Cape Verdean experience you won’t find anywhere else. The staff deserve a special mention. They were attentive, welcoming, and always ready to make our stay memorable. We especially enjoyed chatting with them and learning more about the local food, culture, and traditions. We are big admirers of Cabo Verdean culture — as Cesária Évora beautifully sang, “Cabo Verde é um Brasilin”, and as Nancy Vieira reminds us, Cabo Verde and Brazil truly are like siblings. Staying here gave us the chance to feel this cultural richness in every detail. Definitely, it’s a place where comfort, natural beauty, and warm Cape Verdean hospitality come together. That’s why we came back, and why we’ll certainly return again!

An absolutely stunning hotel with beautiful rooms and gardens. The staff were friendly and efficient and really care about the guest experience. Our deluxe suite was huge and luxurious and we had our own garden area and a wonderful decking area with loungers and a hammock. From the back of the hotel you can access the beach and it is also about a 10 min walk into Santa Maria, which we did every day. |Highly recommend this beautiful hotel.

Overall, it was an amazing experience — we loved our five nights there and will definitely be back. The lady who did the braids for me and my niece was absolutely lovely, and we truly appreciate her. One thing I would add is that I wish there had been more vegan options at the restaurant and for breakfast. As for the cocktails, I feel they could be a bit more luxurious and better executed to match the standards of a five-star hotel. Other than that, I really can’t complain.

As a family of 7 and celebrating a special milestone we wanted a holiday to remember and the Hilton Sal did not disappoint. A very well maintained luxury resort that has everything you need. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Great selection of food on offer with the option of breakfast either in the main restaurant or on the beach at The Bounty. A short walk to the beach with the opportunity to try a multitude of water sports including scuba diving. The only reason I have not suggested my review as excellent is the pool bar staff sometimes struggled when it was busy and a couple of times we had to chase our orders. The rooms are cleaned everyday which is more than what you may expect on most holidays however as it is included we did have to request on multiple occasions for the towels, coffee, milk etc to be replaced.
